This is the worst flame broiler ever! Small portions. Sticky mushy rice. I will never return. I would give it 0 stars if i could.

I was very upset to see that the two employees at this location didn't tell the two teen boys who walked in without mask on if they had a mask they could put on or that they needed to have mask on to be in this restaurant at all. I think that you should enforce the mask rule to protect your employees and customers that come in to order food from you. read more

Probably one of thee worst service I've ever have. I was always supportive of flame broiler but after today I def will not be goin to another one. The worker was not nice and gave me chicken that was cold n beef n I asked for brown rice which she gave me white but when I had asked that I ordered brown she gave me a stank face so I decided I would keep the white rice due to them spitting in my food. Not the best flame broiler. The rice was undercooked and hard inside. No real menu except for the "customize your own". If you wanted a real menu, see the one attached to the window. Sauce dispensers were low and not really maintained. The workers don't really care about their job or customers. They will shout their conversations from the front and back like it was their home. These places are normally super tasty at a reasonable price. Woah... not this location. My first clue should have been the horrible yelp rating / reviews. Honestly I didn't even notice as I was just looking for a place close to me on my way home from work. When I went to check-in I'd already ordered. I ordered 2 beef/chicken bowls and a kids/mini chicken bowl. The beef was absolutely horrible. Hard and way way over cooked. If I had to guess I'd say it was cooked long before I got there and left on the grill to turn into jerky. The lady working the counter was a real peach too... she seemed to hate her job because she had the most uninterested attitude anyone could have. Then the sauce stations were just as bad... I saw mold on some of the stainless containers ! This means they aren't washing them for long periods of time. In the end we didn't even eat it. I certainly wasn't giving this to my wife and kid. I threw it away and pondered leaving this review for the last 2 days. I can't imagine that franchise corporate as audited this location in at least a year based on the deplorable conditions of the interior and quality of product. I have eaten at this location several times, the food is not terrible, but Ive had better at other franchise locations. I have to say that they probably have the some of most unfriendly service staff I have ever experienced. The little pregnant girl (I assume she's pregnant) doesnt seem to give a damn about anything and it seems that she is doing you a huge favor by taking your order. I've been to this Flame Broiler many times. I didn't really think much of it until I really had a bad experience and read the other reviews. It makes me think twice because they aren't far from the truth at all. Let me explain to you my 2 different experiences. One visit went like this-- Went during lunch time and it was crowded. That place is tiny. You don't want to stand ackwardly in the middle of the store to wait and block traffic so I went outside and sat down at their tables. Lunch is 30 mins for me. After 20 mins of waiting I stand there in front of the cashier by the trash can staring at the middle age hispanic lady. She doesn't say a thing to me. Then I realized lots and lots of other people that came in after me got their food already. Then I finally went up to her and asked her if my food was ready and gave her my receipt. Her response-- "I called for your order and no one came. So I gave your food away." OK WHAT? A million responses come to mind. -Do you not realize there are people outside waiting? -Do you think people just pay for a meal and leave? -Is making an effort to make a little bit of noise outside (door was open) to say that your order is ready not reasonable? Anyways, being the passive person I am, I suck it up. She was nice enough to give me a brand new stamp card and stamp all of it, and initial it so the next bowl is on them. Follow up visit. Around 2 months later at the most. I went inside to order food to go with my friend. I order my half and half bowl (same lady) I told her I have a stamp card and gave it to her. She has a question mark on her head and askes the cook. The conversation went like this.. Cook: Sorry we don't take this here. Me: Wait what. I'm pretty sure this is the place that I got this from. Cook: No we don't accept that here. Me: I had a bad experience here before and the lady gave this to me. (I then look on the back of the card) Isn't this YOUR address on this card? Cook: Yes it is the right address. We haven't taken those cards for 6 months now. We can't take it anymore. Shake my head and roll my eyes. Being passive once again I suck it up and pay for it. (Curse my hunger) Went to eat there again today. I usually enjoy the food and think it is consistently good. But the other comments are correct. -It is usually dry because they don't sauce it. You'll have to do it yourself with the magic sauce. -I don't mind chewy meat. It reminds me of beef jerky and I love my beef jerky (but it isn't that chewy). -The ratio to meat to rice is pretty high now. But I love my rice and i dont mind it at all. But I can understand that all of the other places in general (not just flame broiler) are quite the opposite for me. So much meat that I never have enough rice. So the common person would most likely have rice left over. The place isn't that clean compared to the others. The bathroom could use some work too. They have a paper roll dispenser that you can pull down the lever and paper comes out. It was empty. They were too lazy to grab a flat head screw driver to open it up and refill it properly. So they just put the paper roll on top of the dispenser. The workers don't look happy and it shows. The paper roll shows laziness. Never a farewell good bye when walking out the door. If you are a zombie and just want to go in and get your bowl and leave then it is the place for you. Don't expect much customer service. I recommend eating outside if the weather is decent. Inside it is so tight and crammed that there isn't any personal space. read more

Wow. Such harsh comments... I only give three stars because the employees can take more time cleaning. I have eaten here many times and always find the food consistently good and always fresh. Five stars go to the older gentleman that is always working here. He recognizes us and greets us with the biggest smile and always stops to thank us before we leave. As a note, I would like to point out that this review is of this particular location and not the brand as a whole. That being said, of my 3 times visiting this location (since it's down the street from work), I've gotten gristle in my meat all 3 times, 2nd time I've gotten skin on my chicken, 2nd time I've been treated like complete crap or ignored completely by the staff, and the cleanliness inside has been a disaster every single time. The tables are always covered in Magic Sauce and the area where the sauce actually is is more like an open drainage ditch with sauce, used napkins, and trash. This review is strictly based on this location as I have nothing but good experiences with the flame broiler off Alicia and in Aliso Viejo. With that said, this specific location was honestly just kind of petty . The lady working the cashier was very very unpleasant. Also, charged me for things that come complimentary at other locations. I eat flame broiler at 3 different locations as I commute from work, to home to gym. Never been charged to put my veggies in a separate container. You can sell to the public all day but don't want to provide a restroom to the paying customers. When you lock the restroom doors just so you don't have to deal with it you don't even deserve one star. Employees just shake their head and say "I don't know why it's locked" . BS. You have a key. Good food quality - poor restaurant environment. For years this place hasn't been so great. The food quality has gotten better but the place is so poorly ventilated with the grill smoke. So they try to ventilate it by leaving the door open and have ceiling fans on full blast. There was a handful of fly's/gnats inside the restaurant near the sauce area. Love flame boiler and eat it all the time. -the employees at this location are an absolute joke, unprofessional, rude, and horrible at answering the phone. I called at 8:30 sharp and they didn't answer at all, made 4-5 more attempts and Finally got a hold of them and she claimed to not hear me... made 3 more calls and nothing. They clearly didn't want to answer. I ended up driving down and walking in the building at 8:44pm and not a single person in the store... I believe they didn't want anymore business so they could close down early and leave. The chef working is always nice and friendly but the front counter people need a lesson on customer service or need to be replaced. I won't be using this flame boiler going forward. I didn't get the "attitude" from the staff mentioned by other commenters. I'm a pretty easy-going guy so maybe I didn't notice being abused. Anyway, the food is good. The hygiene of the place could use a little TLC. They're probably overworked and underpaid by a franchise owner who's more interested in the bottom line than his employees' welfare. Go figure. The food? I can't complain. When I order the "works bowl" I sometimes forget to specify which kind of rice I want, and they always default to white rice. Minor. First off, I've been to many Flame Broiler locations, and am a big fan of their chicken veggie bowls. I was initially pleased to find out this location was near Saddleback College campus. Unfortunately the convenience of location doesn't make up for being the worst one I've been to. I approached the cashier who seemed to have this attitude that she was 'just doing her job'. I ordered the same thing I usually do, but they didn't ask what kind of rice I wanted or whether or not I wanted green onions. That was the next thing that felt off to me because every other location I've been to asks. I saw someone else order and the cashier didn't ask the next customer either. So apparently they just assume people want white rice. This may not seem like something I should nitpick about, but the reason why I bring it up is the fact that some customers may not know they have the option for brown rice. It just seems like they're being lazy to me. I went to get condiments and they didn't have any salt. So my food came out and when I took a bite into the chicken it wasn't even cooked all the way. I went to complain and the cook right away told us that he did cook the food thoroughly. I felt physically sick afterwards regretting I ever found out about the place. This location is just terrible. Walked into Togo's but decided to get flame instead. The lady at the front comes across as extremely rude. Not warm at all, also the chicken was dry and cold. Going to give five stars today because it was a five star day. I haven't gone to this location in a while, largely due to issues I experienced in the past, but my experience today was good enough to get me to actually create a Yelp account to compliment them. I couldn't get away for lunch before mid-afternoon, so I went in at an off time. Food was fresh and hot. Service was fast. Staff was INCREDIBLY polite and courteous (and is the main reason I'm writing this, they deserve credit). The ONLY problem was that the Magic Sauce had run out (sauce station was already clean and well maintained, even if it's different than the normal Flame Broiler setup), and the cashier jumped right on the situation once I called it to his attention. Eating the food while I write this. It's great, cooked perfectly. Now that my office is across the street, this will become one of my regular lunch places. read more
