    Loaded Mac

I've been on a hot chicken kick these last few months. Whenever I'm in a real city, I try to get hot chicken at least once before I leave. I had never heard of Flame-N-Chickz until last week, but, as soon as I heard of it (and read a few of their Yelp reviews), I knew I had to try it. My interest was specifically piqued by a smaller (and cheaper) loaded macaroni bowl than the competition. So, I drove all the way out here just to try it. It was more towards the Antelope side of Roseville than I expected. The restaurant is in a hole in a wall in a strip mall. I was able to park right out front. There was only one other guest inside, even though it was busy dinner hours. Not a great sign so far, but, I drove too far to give up without trying it. I ordered the loaded macaroni and cheese, which came with seasoned fries, macaroni, hot chicken, paprika, and some kind of aioli sauce. I also requested a few packets of honey on the side, but only ended up using one. The bowl seemed to contain one chicken tender, which I had asked for Hot. Out of all the hot chicken places I've tried so far, this was the hottest hot. It was comparable to one level up from the competition. The chicken itself was the best chicken I've had anywhere so far. The flavor and texture and crispiness were all next level. I was sad that it was buried between the mac and the fries, because I would have liked it better on top. The macaroni and fries themselves were not my favorite. Although I would concede that they tasted more homemade than the competition, I still did not like them as much. So, it's really just a flavor preference thing. I loved the fact that they had a single meal serving size for $11.99. The competition only has a bigger size for a bigger price. This size was big enough for me-- I still had to save half of it for the next morning. Overall, I loved the chicken here. I would probably come back here if I was in the mood for tenders or a sandwich, specifically.

    $9.99 for the slider special

I stopped by Flame N Chickz before my daughter's basketball game since I was hungry and I was unfamiliar with the area. I'm glad I gave this place a try! While it follows a similar concept to other places like Nash & Proper and Angry Chickz, the flavor here is noticeably different--and in a good way. I ordered the slider special, which comes with a sandwich, side, and drink for just $9.99. Pretty affordable and comparable to other spots! The chicken isn't as thick as some competitors, but the mild flavor I chose was on point, and everything tasted fresh. The cashier was super friendly, made some great suggestions, and helped me decide. It was quiet when I first arrived, but it quickly picked up with several people coming in for pick-up orders. Although with some great art on the wall, it's missing something to make it more welcoming. However overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely consider coming back when I'm in the area!

Stopped here for lunch after shopping at Bel Air next door. We walk in and it was both cold physically and by atmosphere. My nose was running by the end of our meal. The colors are red and white. The walls near the table had peeling paint that they seriously need to redo because it was visibly peeling. Not only does it look terrible, it could be hazardous for small children that could eat it. There is nothing on the counters and you have to ask for napkins or condiments. It gave a cold and depressing vibe despite the loud hip hop music and loud football game on the TV. I couldn't have a normal conversation with my husband without yelling so I told him lets hurry up and eat so we finish talking in the car. The menu is very limited. They sell fried chicken fingers either by itself or in a sandwich they call sliders. You then choose the heat level from none to Super hot. They had a slider special that included fries and a drink for $9.99 so we both got that. I said mild, he said medium. The chicken was moist and the crust was not crunchy at all which was fine for me but not what was expected. The bun in the pic looked like a roll but we got a plain regular dry hamburger bun. The fries were crinkle cut and were seasoned nicely. Overall it was just okay. Not made about spending $20 for what we got. It was just Nothing special that makes you want to return.

I've been seeing Flame-N-Chickz on my Yelp feed for almost a year now. Being in the neighborhood, one hungry Thursday evening, we decided to give them a try. No frills setup except for a mural that occupies the right side of the dining area. The place was empty and the owner was instructing what seemed to be a new crew member the ins and outs of the register. People ordering to-go came and went as we were the only diners eating in the establishment. My wife and I agreed on sharing the Combo #1, which was 2 sliders with mac n cheese (substituted from fries) and extra kale slaw. Heat level for us was sparingly ordered at mild or 500 SHU (Scoville Heat Units). Our son opted for Combo #2 consisting of a slider, a tender and fries. He's been liking very hot sauces in his teenage years and I was surprised that he also went conservative by choosing medium heat or 40,000 SHU. For reference on heat levels, a Jalapeño is 8,000, Cayenne is 50,000, Ghost Pepper is 1,000,000, while the cross-bred Carolina Reaper maxes at 2,000,000. Our spice to chicken ratio hit the spot for us as we finished our food without any discomfort. The chicken was tender and delicious. The mac n cheese and fries were also good. The kale slaw was dressed with a vinaigrette of sorts which surprised me asnInwas expecting a sweet salad. It was a great accompaniment for the deep-fried chicken, bun and Chickz sauce. I'm definitely coming back.

I couldn't find a photo of the Veggie Mozzarella Mushroom sandwich so I thought I would add one. The patty is a breaded mushroom. Yum! This is a great option for vegetarians and I appreciate it! Food is always delicious and consistent and employees are friendly.

I have been wanting to try this place out for awhile now . I was visiting some friends in Roseville I decided to go pick up some food . They have a color theme which is red and white. The restaurant looks very clean and organized you could tell they take pride on how their establishment looks ! They have a nice huge art wall on the right side . The young man that took my order was very friendly and helpful ! He explained the level of their hots for me since it was my first time there! They have a small and simple menu . The prices are very reasonable for what you are getting . Which is good quality food ! I was not sure if I wanted the tenders or the sliders. I ended up getting the combo #2 which has one tender and one slider and it also comes with fries.! I also order the chick fries for my husband. My favorite was the chicken slider. It comes with this brioche bun with their special sauce in it . I have to say I really enjoyed the coleslaw in the slider it made it very delicious! The chicken tender I had was battered perfectly with their special medium sauce. It came with a side of fries . The fries have some seasoning on them which is pretty good ! They also came with a special sauce to dip ! Yum ! Overall, this was perfect for my Saturday dinner. I really enjoyed the chicken. It was cooked to perfection and you could tell it's all good quality food! I love the medium heat but now that I know I could tolerate it I'm going to go for the hotter one next time. I love spicy though, so just be cautious with the level of spice you choose. Can't wait to go back !!

The food was good, but not my top favorite hot chicken joints. It was not as flavorful on the spices as I expected. The medium flavor is not spicy and the Mac and cheese bowls are shareable. If you like spice, I recommend getting the hot. Self serve soft drinks. The restaurant is clean and nice wall art.

Not super busy on a stormy Saturday afternoon...

My initial visit I ordered from their "vintage" menu. I got Erik's B.L.A.S.T. with bacon, Arcadian lettuce, avocado, clover sprouts, Secret Goo and tomato on toasted sourdough. They accidentally forgot the clover sprouts on my order. I love sprouts, so I was a bit disappointed when I realized they were missing. However the sandwich was great so it didn't ruin the meal. I loved their special tuna sandwich, called the Ocean Avenue, which was a delicious concoction. Made with tuna salad, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, clover sprouts, and sweet hot mustard on swirl rye bread. The ingredients were all fresh & tasty. Another winner I just consumed was the Ciao Down, made with the softest Dutch Crunch I've ever eaten. I appreciated having the roof of my mouth intact! The combination of ingredients (salami, turkey, Swiss, tomato, onions, clover sprouts, basil pesto) gave me salty, vinegary, sour, and savory, with just a mild spicy kick from the hot cherry peppers. Whatever you do, don't skip the carrot cake! It is the best carrot cake I've ever had. I actually wondered if they outsourced it, but it turns out it's a proprietary family recipe. Made with carrots, pineapples, cream cheese frosting, and walnuts. It tastes homemade and perfectly balanced.
