This is according to my own personal experience and opinion. This is a case of business lost before the first bite! I found this location to be rude, and unaccommodating! I have been by Flame-N- Chickz many times, but I have never gone in. Today I went to the location on Foothills Blvd for the first time. I had the full intention of ordering a meal as I was hungry. When I went in, I didn't know what I wanted, so I was looking at the menu. During this time I needed to use the facilities. I asked the guy at the front counter if I could use the restroom. To which he told me that I had to buy something first. I don't play these games. If a restaurant, especially a fast food joint like this place, can't extend the simple curiosity of allowing me to use the restroom without ordering first, then they don't get my business. After I told this to the guy behind the counter. He didn't give a CRAP at all. After I told him that he just lost a customer, he replied, "Oh well." Great concept, and really hot (heat and spicy) fried chicken. Their kale slaw is a treat and so much better than a certain unnamed fried chicken place that's been around since we were all little kids...way better! I've eaten here twice now, and both times I'm always shocked at two things: (1) it seems they use the same seasoning on the chicken that they do on the french fries, which makes everything taste the same and (2) their combo meals don't include a drink. I've never ordered a combo meal before that didn't come with a drink and it drives me nuts that I have to pay an extra $2.50 on top of their other prices. But, it's a fair price once the total is rang up and the only part they should change is to stop calling it a "combo" when it's just adding fries to the sandwich / strips. The ambience is very casual, and nothing at all fancy. It very much seems like an upstart business, which is so fun when you realize how well they do the chicken. It's not perfect, but it's the best I've had in Northern California. Bottom line: one star removed for lack of variety in their fry seasoning, plain Jane interior, and off putting naming convention for a combo meal. Finally made it in to Flame-N-Chickz today and we enjoyed ourselves. The dining room is spacious, bright, and stocked with two big flat screen TVs (Niner game on one and soccer on the other). The associate Isaac was super friendly, helpful, and also had great recommendations . The kids are fans of "spicy" and Flame-N-Chickz did NOT disappoint. My oldest is 10 years old and ordered one slider to be HOT (400,000 SHUs) and the other to be VERY HOT (1,000,000 SHUs, Ghost Pepper hot). PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that he is a fan of spice/heat and he is accustomed to it, we wouldn't recommend either heat for anyone who is either not familiar to or is sensitive with spiciness. The orders take a while to come out which tells us that the food is made to order and not just sitting under heat lamps. The chicken was tender and moist, the fries were crispy, and the spice was accurate in regards to heat level. The Chickz sauce is simply mayo and ketchup combined, possibly with a little sugar added (basically animal style sauce minus the relish chunks). If you are not a fan, then they also provide straight up ketchup. After watching the kids eat their meals I ended up ordering a combo to go for myself. I got the #2 which is a slider, as well as an additional tender, and fries. I chose the medium heat. I loved all of it! The slider was fantastic, excellent flavors all mixed together. Loved the slaw, the seasoning on the sliders, the soft bun, all of it! If I had one bone to pick it would be that the fries go soft QUICK inside of the Styrofoam container. It was about 15-20 mins from door to door and that was enough for them to get soggy. Fabulous solution is the air fryer. Always the air fryer. If however that is not an option, I would recommend opening the container top for air to circulate. We do know that the fries come out of the kitchen crispy and piping hot, so it was truly the transport that did it. read more

Flame-N-Chickz has arrived in Roseville! This new restaurant moved into the store next to Bel Air supermarket that has been the home to a Chinese restaurant, and two separate Mongolian barbecue restaurants. The restaurant opened their door for business on Thursday, May 12th, and I rushed to the restaurant on Saturday morning, at the 11:00 o'clock opening time, as I couldn't wait to enjoy "Nashville Hot Chicken" for the first time. As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the counter with the menu posted on the video monitor, which makes ordering easy. Furniture is made up of tables for four, which can be pushed together to acommodate larger groups. The room is divided by a low partition which separates the order counter area - which actually has one table near the window - from the main dining area. When it comes to decor, how many ways can you say "spartan," as there is absolutely nothing in the way of decor, as the walls feature waistcoating and abstract, geodesic red lines, to contrast with the white paint. The dining room is well lit with recessed lights, and provides great light for photography. The menu is posted above the counter on a large video monitor, and - naturally - on the restaurant's web site. Note the menu is very compact, offering three "combos," along with single orders of sliders, tenders, fries and salads. Drinks are bottled water, bottled soft drinks, or all-you-can-drink Coca Cola products from the "serve yourself" soda machine. I went with "Combo #2," which includes one slider, a tender, along with a side of fries. For the heat level, I opted for "medium," which lies on the lower scale of heat, and this level of heat worked out perfectly for my taste buds. Both the tender and the slider were simply delicious, but the slider won my love and undying affection, as it was simply AMAZING! The slider is based on a "Chicken Tender," which is a 3-oz or so piece of breast meat, seasoned, marinated and deep fried to a dark, honey-golden brown. Then, the chicken is coated with house-made sauce, and YOUR choice of spice level, ranging from "No Spice" up to "Flamin'," which is so hot that you must sign a waiver. Maybe that's just a publicity thing? Whatever the case, I went with "Medium," which is about as hot as a jalapiño pepper, which is perfect for my taste buds, as it affords a level of "kick," but isn't scorching hot. The "Tender" was placed on a soft, fresh hamburger bun on a bed of green and purple kale, lettuce leaves, and garnished with "house dressing" which I believe is "Flame-N-Chickz speak" for 1000 Island dressing. There was a small cup of dressing on the side, which made for a perfect dip for my fries. The chicken was tender, moist, juicy and perfectly deep fried, with just the right amount of batter to ramp-up the taste sensation, but not overpower the delicious chicken. The kale and lettuce added some "cool" to the slider, and the dressing worked perfectly with the batter and spicy seasoning to add contrast and a bit of sweetness to the sandwich. The "Slider" served at Flame-N-Chickz was simply amazing! The side of "Tender" was exactly the same slice of meat as I enjoyed on my "Slider" except that it had a couple slices of dill pickle chips for garnish, presentation, and added taste. Delicious in every way! The side of fries worked wonders for this delicious lunch! There were large, "crinkle cut," and deep fried perfectly, just the way I love them. Medium golden brown on the outside, tender and white on the inside, with just enough salt for taste, and a slight "crunch" when I bit into them. All orders are served in a "to-go" box regardless of whether your dining "in," or order "takeout." I suppose that's a nod to the 20-something's who always prefer to eat their meals elsewhere. Personally, I'm "old school" and I always prefer to enjoy my meal in a dining room. Are you in the mood for an amazing lunch? At $13.88 it isn't cheap, but it's worth every penny, as my lunch was fresh, made from quality ingredients and simply delicious. Today was the first time that I've ever enjoyed "Nashville Hot Chicken," or for that matter, even heard of the genre. The chicken, both the "Tender" and the "Slider" were simply delicious, and a welcome change from most deep fried chicken. Flame-N-Chickz has found a "niche" in the crowded Roseville scene and serves a whole different "bird," so to speak. Flame-N-Chickzis a welcome addition to western Placer County dining! I will say I'm not that big of a chicken person but this is another vote for Flames n Chickz! Best chicken sandwich I've ever had. So juicy and flavorful. I got the #2 combo slider with chicken strip medium heat. My bf got hot heat and that was a no for me lol. He was sweating and couldn't really enjoy it. We both agree medium is where it's at. So depending on your preference be wary of hot it's a scorcher. So excited to have a Nashville Hot chicken spot closer to me! My husband and I are HUGE fans of Angry Chickz off Sunrise by the mall but it's a far trek for us sometimes so we tried this spot as it's nearly identical to our favorite place. Here are some pros and cons. Pros: Excellent customer service. Close by. The chicken is damn near identical. So juicy and flavorful. Price is good. Cons: I do not like their fries. Angry chickz fries are better. I hope this place steers away from the crinkle cut fries. Also, their tender did not come with bread like it does at angry chickz and the serving sizes aren't as big as angry chickz when you pay pretty much the same prices. Over all, I will come here when I'm craving the Nashville hot chicken and I don't want to drive very far. If they just change out the fries and up the serving size a bit - this would be my go to place 10/10 times! read more

I read in the news that this place was opening "nearby" and I try to support businesses in the area. It is located in a busy shopping center, but the space is large and open. The inside is clean and red albeit a bit boring. There is a huge white wall just begging for a sick mural or some other decoration. The staff was polite and professional and the food came out on the longer end of average. We ordered the slider and tender meal. It was a good portion for the price. The slider held together great, the slaw was a flavorful sidekick, and the chicken cooked perfectly. The fries are seasoned crinkle fries which double down on my dislikes, but that is personal. The fries were crunchy and tasty. I ordered the medium heat and my wife the hot. The escalation from medium to hot was extreme! First stop and the first impression is that the chicken is legit and a lot better than a lot of other chicken places. We ordered the #1 combo which had 2 decent size chicken tender sandwiches and seasoned fries. It was $15 but plenty of food for two persons. The chicken was meaty, juicy and perfectly spiced at medium (and we like spicy food). The egg bun was fresh and held the chicken nicely along with the cooling slaw, sauce and pickles. It was nice to not have it swimming in oil or buttery hot sauce like other places with Nashville hot chicken. The fries were crisp, hot and a nice seasoning. Service was friendly but it appeared that the person at the counter was also taking care of at least some of the food prep, so imagine you might have to wait a bit when it is crowded if there isn't other help. However our food came quickly. It is spacious inside with basic ambiance-and 2 TVs. First time I went in I had the Medium heat (40,000 SHU) Chicken Mac & Cheese. It was tasty but didn't seem that hot. The last time I went in I had the #1 Combo - 2 sliders with fries with Hot heat (400,000 SHU). It was great, but probably the hottest chicken I've ever eaten. The friend I took with me had the same and got hiccups after the first bite. lol. Even with the heat the chicken was tasty and cooked perfectly. The portions are excellent for the price. The sliders are the size of other chicken places full size chicken sandwiches. The staff is friendly and attentive. I'll be going back after my stomach recovers from the heat. read more

We just moved to Roseville from the bay. Regarding my Nashville Hot credentials, I've def been around the block when it comes to Nashville Hot places - trucks included. I've been to them all in the bay - San Jose, Oakland and SF. I have also been to Nashville and came back sorely disappointed. California has Nashville beat at their own game! My two favorites in the bay are prob ANGRY CHICKZ in San Jose and THE BIRD in SF. I happened to be visiting Bel Air supermarket next door and saw the grand opening sign - lucky me. I've been back twice and I always get either the sandwich or the tenders with fries. I have to say the chicken checks out. The batter and fry is done right, moist and juicy - no complaints about the chicken at all. The sauce is also on point, nothing negative to say about it. I'm a spice-head. I love heat but I have to say their EXTRA HOT is over the top for me. I like to brag how nothing is too hot for me - but their EXTRA HOT took me to some pain I don't want to experience again. Just regular old HOT for me is good. The fries will not be winning any awards. They're just your regular fries, the kind you get everywhere, at the arenas etc. Last time I was there I requested them fresh and it made a huge difference. If they come out fresh and hot they're actually enjoyable - but they came cold once and it wasn't a good experience. A few have commented on the decor - or lack of decor. It's true - it's super plain inside. I don't know why, but the lack of decor inside kinda jumps out at you. But super clean and lots of space so I don't know why I'm even bothering to mention it. Bottom line for a Nashville Hot place, it's all about the chicken and the sauce. If the chicken and sauce check out, at least for me, I will keep going back.
