Grabbed quick lunch because I was in the area. I've always wanted to try out the food since I follow flat top on my instagram. I had the ahi tuna salad and it was awesome! I have been to Flat Top grill 3 times in 2025. It's a beautiful bar and grill. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food is so amazing. The first time I went I had the pear drink it was refreshing and it can sneak up on you. I also had the chicken sandwich. My whole crew loved their food. Went back with my husband and got the fish OMG so good. My crew circled back for Christmas and we loved everything about it. We had 3 birthdays including mines and the waitress helped us celebrate. We will make this our spot every year. Lastly we asked for the chef to come out and gave him his kudos. No complaints at all. If I could give you 20 stars I would. read more

The waiter could have been a bit warmer, experience wise, but I understand it must have been his end of the day and he was over it. We sat in the back, outside, and our heat burner went out within 15 minutes. Attention to detail would have been much appreciated. The custom cocktails and drinks were great. Ordered the jambalaya and chimichurri steak. Both tasted amazing, although one sat longer than the other (steak) and was less enjoyable due to the already lack of heat and attentiveness of the staff, who were eager to end their shift. Flat Top looks, at first glance, like a small local restaurant tucked into a strip mall. But walk through the doors, and you will be surprised. A big , very attractive horseshoe bar stocked with a surprisingly extensive selection of top shelf liquors, staffed by bartenders who know how to make real cocktails! And, a food menu that includes some legitimate high-end choices. However, there are some unfortunate downsides to this place. Service is very uneven...sometimes good, but sometimes you feel ignored, almost to the point of intentional rudeness. Prices are quite expensive...as in LA expensive for a local joint. This place frequently tends to attract a pretty rough crowd...that's not their fault, they clearly aren't trying to be a biker bar, but sometimes it can feel like that. Sitting on the patio, it's a nice open environment with plenty of seating. I decided to try the jambalaya over linguine. Nice portions of shrimp, chicken and sausage. Three of us sat at the bar top and had a ball!!! We just left and the food and service was fantastic. Stephanie was the bartender. She was attentive, fun, personable and professional. She kept our drinks coming and filled. She made sure we had all of our condiments and our order was exactly as requested. We loved the drinks and iced tea. The food was great. First off the food is absolutely amazing! Such a wide variety and everything is excellent. Secondly, the atmosphere is very relaxing and peaceful. But most importantly, the Services absolutely excellent. We had a party of approximately 25 people and one waitress named Shelby. She was perfection! Never skipped the beat. We celebrated my daughter's 30th birthday there and you know how moms can be but she always responded to me with a most respect courtesy and was quick to satisfy all our needs. It's Mother's Day, so I'd made a reservation for a late lunch. Not sure if needed or not, since most tables were empty when we walked in, but filled up a little as the time went on. We walked in and even though nobody else was waiting to be seated we stood there and took at least 5 min to even get greeted before being seated (we almost walked out). Been here twice now for food and a few times for nightlife. Flat Top has been a great addition to the woodcrest area, it's name a reflection of the local flattop hill where we would ride dirtbikes and highschoolers would hangout at night. The restaurant has a fairly large and open bar area with plenty of seating and a separate dinning area, as well as a large outdoor patio with seating. Music is usually loud but not so loud you can't have a conversation. Foodwise, I've tried the Cubano and it was not one of my favorites. The Tuna sandwich was yuge! Poke nachos are good. And lobster mac n cheese is a must. Overall they have a great selection of food and the quality is there. The shrimp tacos are also very good. However I did not care for the small tortilla. We have been here a few times and wanted to make it a regular spot. So we decided to try something besides cocktails and appetizers. Took a chance and ordered the chili verde and ribeye. Hoping to have a great Friday night date night. Well the chili verde was pretty good. Full of flavor, could have had a bit more spice. The ribeye was awful. Tough, could barely cut it let alone chew it. The server admitted we were the 2nd person to complain and did ask if I wanted it replaced, I declined. Thought we would just share the chili verde. She could have taken it off the bill or at least discounted the bill. She didn't okay that's fine. Learned my lesson. On the way out, the other customer let us know he ordered a different steak and it was tough too. Maybe just not the place for a steak. Choose something else. Flat Top definitely had me checking my directions to make sure I was headed to the right location, but they are now for sure one of Riverside's best brunch eats in my books! I love a good seafood brunch and was happy to see that they offered quite a few seafood dishes on their menu. My friend and I ordered the calamari, Millionaire's Grilled Cheese, and the Capellini Lobster Pasta to share because both of those two main dishes were calling to us! The calamari starter had a perfect crisp and bite to it, and was served with a fresh and hot tomato basil house-made sauce and a chilled horseradish cocktail sauce. This dish really gave me confidence that our mains were going to be delicious - they were all that and more! The Millionaire's Grilled Cheese came out with a plentiful amount of lobster, prosciutto, and three different cheeses served on nicely toasted sourdough and a side of lightly coated fries. It was simply a dream. The Capellini Lobster pasta really took the cake for us. The dish had a perfect balance of savory butter in lemon white wine sauce, and all the herbs and sun-dried tomatoes under a nicely cooked lobster tail. We also had a few delicious drinks with our food, and our favorites would have to be the Passion Fruit Mojito and the Peach Cobbler dessert drink. On top of the delicious food we had, we also received amazing service from our host who frequently kept up with us and made sure that we had everything we needed. I have been a patron of Flat Top in the past but my most recent experience was horrific. On 3/15/26 I came in after a long flight from the east coast to eat lunch. When I walked in I was not greeted nor seated. After standing there for approximately 3 minutes, I sat myself at the flat top tables. I waited there for another 7 minutes and still no server. I then decided to sit at the bar thinking surely, I'd get noticed and can order food. I waited there almost 10 minutes and a customer next to me asked if I had been served yet. I replied no. The customer then asked the bartender "hey can this guy get some service " the bartender looked at him and yelled at him belittling him in front of everyone at the bar simply for asking if I could get some service. She then states, "I see him and will get to him ". He was so taken back and embarrassed that he took a walk to the patio to gather himself. I then waved to a young man who came over and took my order. Finally the bartender addressed me and asked my order. I told her that a young man took it already. The situation was quite embarrassing and unsettling to say the least. I vow to not return if this is the direction of service that patrons will receive at Flat Top. No server should ever yell at a customer for simply asking for help. read more

Their management read my review and took it to heart. Many don't read their reviews. I added a star for their actually reading and caring about their business. I don't know if they were working a soft opening. I will add another star after I try them again and compare the food. QA is not easy to review for a manager. Then implementing the changes and making sure all the employees are trained and are following the instructions. The lobster was perfectly cooked with chopped green onions , it came with butter and grilled lemon..the taste of the lobster was fresh, cooked perfectly.. I just wish there's a little more flavor to it but that's fine I was able to just dipped into my creole sauce ! The steak was cooked medium rare perfectly, can taste the smoky grilled but it was missing a component which is salt. That's ok cuz we still have leftovers of it, as soon we got home i sprinkled some flaky salt on the steak and it definitely tasted amazing! Ppl will say just get AI sauce which they do provide there but I don't prefer that I want to taste the flavor of the steak instead. Presentation of the food is beautiful, I love the black plates, black fork and knife it matches their vibe there. Heard that their outdoor seating is dog friendly which I'm willing come back for. Very strange experience with our server, Andrew. Food was good, especially the butter cake. Went with a large party and it was I would say semi busy (bar was full and a couple tables inside.) We asked for the check after being done for a while (not tended to for a while, which honestly was fine but then later he yells about needing to attend to his customers lol.) We asked if the check could be split. The server said something like "it woulda been easier if you asked at the beginning." Understandable honestly, and I wish he had just said no and it coulda been easier for everyone, but instead he came out asked each person what they got and was ticking it off his little machine. I just had one question about one item and I did not follow what he was saying and maybe it was like 2 mins of conversation and he got so upset it was very odd. He took off his glass, seemed to clear his throat and reprimanded the table.. like he was on his little soap box... and said "this is why I dont split checks at this hour (it was like 10pm, and also he did decide to split the check very passive aggressively)" and he Went on like "you are making me feel like im bad at my job" "I could be spending time serving other people you're making me neglect other people" it was very literally like MAYBE 2 extra mins of his time due to confusion, maybe 2 mins of extra time he spent responding to my question and he went off (as if we weren't customers, deserving of his time, but the rest of the restaurant was.) Someone in my party was like okay put whatever is left on my card and we can be done (to just get him to stop yelling.) And he argues about that! Saying he cant, there's two seperate checks left he can't cause he'd have to charge two different times. So she repeated several times whatever's left just put it on my card until he finally did. Then after it was cleared up he was like "oh I would of rather just paid for the confusing item myself than have to deal with that"... "oh with zelle its so easy to split" .. "oh dont forget your food".... it was so odd for him to yell over something that literally took so little extra time and then pretend to be nice after as if he didnt just yell at us for nothing. This is the BEST restaurant I believe I've ate at, and I've tried nice ones. Wow! We had 20 ladies in our party and everything we ordered was incredibly good. So good I wanna return for my husband and my anniversary and we live hours away. Oh. My. Word!!!! Best asparagus ever! Rest was good too, lobster was small but delectable, shrimp was ok, steak wasn't great but wasn't terrible. I'd still get this dish again. Or maybe a double portion of asparagus! Sweet potato fries were great and plenty. Friend got these loaded fries that had steak pieces and goopy stuff smothering it and again, OH MY WORD!!!! So good.
