Was definitely worth the hour drive ! The staff was absolutely amazing everyone was friendly and welcoming, Joe was our waiter and his personality was everything ! The ambiance was nice nice and clean , and set up where it's can for just enough people comfortable. Now let's get into the food ! 10/10 everything from the fresh baked biscuits they brought out for the table was delicious definitely no complaints everything was so flavorful and big portions ! you def getting your money worth . I will definitely be back to try more on the menu !

As always flavor table did not disappoint. They provide you a homely southern comfort that is unparalleled. Match that with the gracious service provided by one of their host named Willie, and there is no better place to eat your southern breakfast on the west side of Los Angeles. Now you wanna talk about warming your stomach on a cool morning, try the shrimp and grits. But don't forget to chase it with the catfish and eggs. And let me tell you about those biscuits, they'll make you slap yo Daddy!

Food is really good, especially the biscuits. They are absolutely amazing. It can get pretty busy, and there isn't a ton of seating. Service is okay but not very attentive and it can take awhile for food.

I stopped by on a Saturday morning, it was about a 30 minute wait. The service was not that great. The waiter barely came to check on us. Didn't bring any napkins refill our coffee, Karif, etc. The food was good. Street parking can be challenging. Definitely need to read the parking signs.

Had the pleasure of eating some delicious food at this restaurant. Pluses +++ Food is delicious, helpings are big, prices are reasonable, staff very nice, bathroom was clean. Minuses-----parking is not so great. Street parking only and on a wide busy street, small on the inside, not ideal if you have a large party, only open until 2pm Specifics!!!! The Flavor Table is on a busy street , very easy to miss no real signage to single it out. We had a waiter that was really nice but he went out of his way to let us know he wanted his tip in cash not on the card was very vocal . I found this unprofessional, off putting and actually felt a bit of anxiety at the end worrying about if I had enough cash for his tip. There biscuits are the best taste like my grandma's homemade biscuits. The restaurant is not fancy not very decorative at all really. So you definitely would be going just for great eats but not atmosphere. I would definitely go back.

If the review were solely based on the food, our gentleman server, who may have been the manager or owner (I could be wrong), then I would rate Flavor Table a solid 4 and some change. I tbelive that his name is DJ based on the receipt. However, because other factors can make or break service ratings, I must also consider them in the equation. The hostess have zero personality and not welcoming at all. She was a bare minimum type of hostess. We were also overlooked originally by another server that took a table ahead of ours, though we arrived and were sat first. Okay enough of that, let's get into the food. The shrimp and Catfish combo OMG. Let me preference I am from Florida, South Florida and we cook seafood well, especially with grits. Our order was cooked to perfection. The portion size was massive. Three people could have easily shared that meal. Yes, I brought my leftovers home with me back to Vegas and the leftovers were equally divine. Everything was excellent from the fish, shrimp, Country potatoes, cheese grits, scrambled eggs( which I don't typically enjoy), and that got dayum biscuit. My ggaawwwdd that biscuit. I'm going back for the biscuit alone and I don't eat much bread. The setup at the restaurant was cozy and I enjoyed how everyone talked to people they didn't know across tables. I miss that type of vibe. The customers understood the assignment. I'll be back whenever I return to Cali. Thank you, Sir, for making our experience above my expectations based on observations before being greeted by you. Customer service is everything to me, and you delivered, though your counterparts did not. Glad I still gave Flavor Table a fair shot despite my first impression.

Service was amazing, but unfortunately, the food was not. I got the short ribs over potatoes. grits was really bland and not creamy. The short ribs weren't seasoned at all. Actually had cold grease in them, but the crabcakes are really good. Presentation is nice on everything and they give you more than enough food. Coffee is amazing.

I loved my farmers market margarita, and seed smoke mezcal cocktail, they were not overly boozy, but had been made with an even blend of flavor and dressed with complimentary ingredients. It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

The food has been enjoyable on my previous visits, which is why this last experience stood out. The food I ordered tasted great, and the beer and cocktails were excellent. Unfortunately, my friend's burger was served cold and wasn't cooked to his liking despite being specific about what condiments he could and could not consume. What disappointed me most was that our table felt rushed. From the time we sat down until the check was brought out, exactly one hour had passed. We were still enjoying ourselves and wanted to order another couple rounds of drinks, but the check arrived so quickly that it felt like we were being encouraged to wrap things up rather than continue our evening. I would've thought that was okay if the restaurant was busy, but it truly wasn't. Aside from our booth being in use, there were some people at the bar, another 2 booths occupied towards the kitchen side, and one table behind us at the corner in use, so it wasn't about them being busy. I'm hoping this was just a one-time experience because I've genuinely enjoyed my previous visits and would like to come back. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and I hope future visits feel a little more relaxed and allow guests to enjoy their time without feeling rushed to pay and leave.

All the servers here are attentive and offer to help with what to order if you're unsure. For dinner, the Crispy Pasta is their take on crispy pata but served with spinach tagliatelle. In a not very obvious area of DTLA, next to Urth Cafe but no other restaurants. We didn't have reservations so we had the option of sitting at the bar or following the waitress to a back room area instead of the front room that is visible to everyone. My son is a minor, so to the back we went! Seriously, the closer we got to the back room the more I felt I had been cast in "The Chef." Scary! Lol! The back room is black. Blackout black! Black tablecloths, walls, chairs, dark, low light. Very luxurious and open space. Which - because it wasn't full at the time - felt a bit like being in the film, The Menu." A bit too upscale and empty to feel comfortable. More guests arrived later, a large table, so that was more comforting. The food: Recommended *Kara Kara Tamales: braised oxtail with a peanut butter sauce. Wow! The taste was wonderful! Hard to explain but Filipino/African food meets Latin food. It was on the "shared plate" menu, which to me means it will be a lot. But the 2 tamales were not very big. Still, they were so rich that the 2 really were sufficient to share. Quite filling. I couldn't get enough of the sauce! *Crab fried rice: Very tasty and generous portion. Plenty share! Not recommended: The street eats menu. Now, this is what pulled us in - the sights and smells of the food being grilled outside the restaurant. Most of which was on this meme. Like a tasting menu. But for price to portion ratio, it simply isn't worth it. I ordered the skirt steak. 4 oz, cut in half. Cooked down to what looked like .5 oz! Each on a toothpick sitting in a paper plate (or maybe it was cupcake holder?) IDK. I just know it wasn't a good presentation and the taste wasn't memorable. Regular. More grill smell than taste. Not at all worth $8. Service: Really nice. And mostly good. Though they did fail short by (1) Using only small appetizer size plates and (2) Not bringing a fresh plate to eat the crab fried rice on after the peanut butter sauce laced tamale appetizer was eaten. The server brought the fried rice, but didn't bother to give us fresh plates (nor silverware). My son was mortified when I grabbed a plate from one of the empty tables! (Teenager energy on full effect). But after initial attentive service, the variety of different servers whizzing by didn't stop to ask if we needed anything. And I sat waiting at least 8 minutes staring at the rice. I assured my young man that the servers would be fine with me getting another plate to save them from having to. And once I did, he suddenly started eating from my plate of my peanut butter free fried rice. And of course, when a server did attend to us and I let her know, she was glad I took matters into my own hands instead of not eating for 15 minutes. Thoughts: Go for dinner, and order from the full dinner menu, skip the skimpy street eats menu. With reservations you can sit in the main restaurant area that has some view to the outdoors. Without it - back to the black room you go! Know that it will be expensive. And it will be original. Not sure I'll go back. It's very "special occasion" upscale dining. But If I do it'll be with reservations. The meal was memorable and worth experiencing.

Overall, I'd come back for the food, but I'd probably steer clear from cocktails and order a real drink. Prank is a convenient place for dtla residents in surrounding apartments to come get some quick bites and drinks and catch a live game

Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, with authentic flavors and quality ingredients that stood out from the first bite to the last. The ambiance was welcoming and the art was tasteful. What truly elevated the experience was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the meal. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensured everything was perfect without being intrusive. We ordered the tostaditas de atún agua chile negro, beet salad, carne asada taco and Al pastor taco and watched the World Cup game. Distrito Catorce combines exceptional food, a great atmosphere, and top-notch service. It's the kind of place that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal. Definitely plan on coming back to watch more World Cup games.

To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. Overall, it's a cool spot with a menu that feels unique to LA.

Don't expect deference if you make a reservation! Good thing…read morethis place has delightful food, good waitstaff and inviting atmosphere. The hostess left something to be desired. I have been here a few times for dinner but this was first time for brunch. I made a reservation, was asked to confirmed reservation 3x, noted it was celebrating a birthday and gave no preference on seating. I arrived on time, but one of my group was parking. There were a few people milling around and I was greeted with "checking in?" No hello, no welcome, no mention of celebrating and told to let them know when entire party arrived. (This is becoming more common to be seated along with a $25 per person fee if I canceled less than 24hrs. I know restaurants are struggling but come on!) I watched as 'walk-ins' were given priority tables and when our party was complete, she was squeezing in a 3rd chair to a small cafe table right by the pass through door. No asking our preference. When she returned to seat us, I said "you're not putting us at that small table are you?" Her response - "yes...unless you want to sit inside." How was that not a conversation first? A professional would have said "I apologize, where would you prefer to sit? I see you made a reservation, are celebrating an event and we had some unexpected guests for seating options." Perhaps she was having a bad day, or was still reeling from a prior customer interaction but she was NOT up to the standards I equate with Manuela. Go for the food but don't think by making a reservation you get any special acknowledgement.
