I have only had one bad time here when it took like 45min to get my food then they brought out pancakes with strawberry syrup stuff on it when I asked for fresh strawberries and specifically said not to put the syrup crap on it, the waitress just said because I ordered silver dollar pancakes and she gave two large ones instead "oh well looks like you got more food for a discount" and walked off. Which really irritated me because I waited 45min for pancakes, then didn't get what we ordered, and my daughter can't eat that syrup crap and so we wasted money. Finally got to stop on over to Flight 126 for breakfast and have instantly found one of my favorites! To start its measles right up the the little airport in Santa Paula with an almost constant flow of planes taking off and landing. A fun entertaining time in between conversation and eating. The food was delicious, the NY steak cooked perfect with over easy eggs is always a win. A side of the flakey home made biscuit with country gravy to savor. The chicken fried steak was a massive serving the size of the plate. Hand breaded with seasoned flour and no holding back on the serving of gravy layered on top. First of all be forewarned that on the menu it stated a 18% gratuity will be automatically added to the bill for group of 6 or more.. and The prices on the internet did not match the higher menu prices. I had called and asked if they took reservations which I was told no. However when we arrived there were people who were on a reservation list for s buffet rather than the cafe setting, could have been because it was Mother's Day, I don't know. We waited an hour and a half which was fine because Mothers Day I'm sure everywhere was busy. The girls at the front were friendly, and so were staff we interacted with. I can't comment on the scenery because our view was of the parking lot. Their onion rings were delicious. I also liked their chile verde huevo rancheros breakfast. I didn't like their house potatos. It took awhile after we were seated to even have our drink order taken. The service was ok and the prices were comparesble to other places. We LOVE this place. The service is the best in Santa Paula. They have amazing people working here. The Mexican Scramble is one of our favorite things to order and the Pancakes, and the French Toast use to be our favorites as well and they actually still are but the SYRUP CHANGED so we stopped ordering the pancakes and French toast. I hate whip cream so I can't use that instead of the syrup like my wife and other people do. THE SYRUP taste watered down now, but other than that I have nothing but good things to say about this place! Amazing food, amazing people, great atmosphere with a view of the Santa Paula airport. We started coming here about 5 years ago and loved the food and service. Recently, we visited for breakfast and it seems like the quality of the food has gone down. Scrambled eggs were dense and greasy, the pancake syrup tasted like medicine, they went away with the real half-and-half and replaced with the fake flavored creamers, hash browns had no seasoning. Yesterday, we went over for dinner and set at the bar. It took them 30 minutes to get our order of fries. We got them cold. The place was averagely busy, so we understood some delay, but not 30 minutes for cold fries. We ended up leaving very disappointed that one of our favorite places in town is not just what it used to be. Hope we can come back to a better experience. read more

Our only breakfast spot to eat when we're in Santa Paula. It's the best hidden gem in town, the staff is so welcoming and very attentive. You can't beat the view from the deck with clear skies and mountains or watching the planes take off, either way it's pretty cool to sit back and enjoy the scenery. Wether you sit inside or out youll be treated like family, my coffee was never empty and the refills on the drinks constantly came. Everything we've tried is amazing, you won't be disappointed. The country fried steak and eggs were delicious, crispy and fried perfectly, the gravy was thick and the hash browns were good. The county breakfast was so filling, home made biscuits with sausage Patty and eggs covered with gravy, yum!!! The corned beef hash and eggs, your choice of potatoes was another great dish, needed a little salt but good overall. The Rueben sandwich was delicious, thick pieces of corned beef on rye bread with lots of sauerkraut and thousand island. It's really good, we chose fries but you can pick your side. Once we were seated, our server took very good care of my wife and myself. We were very impressed with the busman. He was so respectful and pleasant. He took care of our coffee refills with a smile. I want to like this place. I really do. And I want to give them another go. This time could've ended well, but instead the experience left me uncomfortable, and it wasn't necessary. When I placed my order, I had already handed back the menu and when I was asked if I wanted toast or a biscuit, I chose biscuit since they make them there. The waitress then asked if I would like gravy on the side, to which I commented that it would be nice to try, as I don't usually eat gravy. Later when I received the bill, I saw there was a $1.50 charge for "BISCUITS & GRAVY". The owner happened to walk by. He was friendly and asked how everything was going, so I asked him why was this charge added to the bill. He told me there was a $1.50 charge for gravy. I told him the waitress didn't mention that and I asked if that was on the menu. He went and got a menu and took a moment to review it. Then he said, "I guess we didn't get that put on the menu" and he removed the charge from my bill. I was happy and he looked happy to have a happy customer. I paid my bill and was ready to leave when a waitress I hadn't seen before approached me with a menu to show me that at the bottom it says "gravy 1.5", and she said, "So that you'll know for next time." Now, I was leaving feeling like I was being told I was in the wrong, at which point I went back and insisted she take the $1.50 she had proven I owe, although she argued that had not been her point. Had the absolute best grilled cheese and fries EVER!! Requested it on buttered and grilled (on BOTH sides) sourdough. Cheese flavors are not overpowering but mild, melted, and stretchy. I've been on a recent kick to try out some general aviation airport cafes. This morning I decided to drive up to Santa Paula Airport and try out Flight 126. As soon as I entered I was warmly greeted by the staff and asked if I was dining in or getting food to go. I said that I would be dining in and that the counter was fine for me since I was solo. I ordered the pancake combo with link sausage and added O'Brien potatoes and an orange juice to drink. The OJ seemed like it was fresh squeezed and I would assume locally sourced. It was sweet & delicious. Unfortunately it was a rather small glass. The eggs, potatoes & pancakes were all cooked perfectly and delicious. The sausage was also cooked perfectly & tasty, the only negative to it is that you only get one. It was overcast & threatening rain, so there wasn't much activity on the airport. This place isn't that great. We ordered the huevos rancheros and the biscuits and gravy combo meal with sausage and potatoes for breakfast. They don't serve you enough gravy so the biscuits were pretty dry and the pork meat on the huevos meal was pretty fatty. It just wasn't great. Then they burned our pancake we ordered on the side, so they went to remake it, but it still wasn't great and it took them like 15 minutes to remake 1 pancake and bring it out to us. The worst part of the experience was the service. We were the only table in the inside area we sat at that had a different waitress and she kept forgetting about us and going outside to her tables out there. Anytime we needed anything, we had to awkwardly ask the bus boys, which got old. Even when we were ready to leave and asked for our check, we had to ask the bus boy and then we sat around for 20 minutes waiting them to collect our payment. Finally we got up and just walked to the register to pay. The place wasn't busy enough to excuse this lack of service. I won't be going back. It was my first and last time coming here. read more

The manager had a tone that came across as if I was lying about it, but I have zero reason to lie. He said that I can come back again and have my order remade but after the beetle and the attitude, I will not be back. I have lived in Ventura County a long, long time and driven highway 126 almost every day, yet this was my first visit to the Santa Paula Airport, because I wanted to try somewhere new, and I remembered this place off the beaten path in SP was getting good reviews. I picked a bad day to try to cut back on carbs, since this is a breakfast, burger, sandwich, soup kind of place. Vegetarian options include a garden burger, grilled veggie sandwich, and salads. What I liked: I love outdoor tables, and these are off the road, surrounded by trees which help cut the freeway noise, and has a great view of private airplanes and South Mountain. The service was friendly and reasonably paced, but then I was the only one on the patio. Breakfast is served all day. My grilled veggie cheese was perfectly grilled, and the veggies were fresh. I know, I said I was cutting carbs, but how do you do grilled cheese without bread? I compromised and had grilled tomatoes instead of fries, hash browns, or potato salad. Not so much: sandwich was very light on the cheese, and the waitress called me 'dear' more than once. I will probably come back when I am craving hash browns. read more

One of my favorites in Santa Paula. They have a great patio for outdoor dining with a nice view of the mountains and airplanes taking off and landing. The food is scrumptious, and you get a lot for your money. I would highly recommend their El Centro Huevos! It's 2 eggs cooked to your preference with Chile verde on top and it's amazing! Their refried beans are also very yummy. On the weekends it can get pretty busy so it's best to get there early. Due to Covid they have limited seating outside. Service here can sometimes be a little slow but their staff are always very friendly. read more

Came with some friends and I personally wanted to come to see the aviation museum right next door more so than the café. We arrived slightly before the morning rush so we were able to get seated promptly at a corner booth seeing the airplanes outside. It's a nice view and with the sun rising, the seating we had had a great feel to it. Unfortunately, we were not overly impressed with the food. I had the farmer's vegetarian omelet, which had spinach, mushroom, tomato, and onion paired with country potatoes, and a biscuit with gravy on top. My friends had a combination of pancakes (2), eggs benedict, Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. First off, the omelet isn't a true omelet with a layer of egg wrapping the ingredients. It's an egg mixture mixed with the ingredients and fried onto a skillet and folded in half. Disappointed it wasn't a true omelet, but at least it was fresh tasting. The country potatoes are lackluster. Not pan fried or skillet fried enough and a bit soggy. Fully cooked, but underwhelming in terms of seasoning. Paprika was used to season the potatoes, but not enough salt. The biscuit that came with it is a bit hard on the outside, but the inside is pretty fluffy still. Not award winning fluffy in my opinion. It was peculiar the gravy was on the side in a ramekin cup and it wasn't hot gravy - more warm. The gravy was good, but not the best. There were sausage bits and it tastes decently seasoned. Paired with the biscuit, it was actually pretty good. I would order this instead of an omelet had I known. The Chicken Fried Steak is a huge portion, but it has a lot of batter (and on the thick side) instead of flattened steak. The major saving grace of this dish was the gravy on top. The steak by itself was mostly bland and underwhelming despite its appearance. With the gravy, it was better. But at that point, I rather just get biscuits and gravy then. The egg benedict was a major disappointment, because the eggs were overcooked and not runny at all. All of the hash browns in the orders were only cooked on one side and uncooked and soggy on the other. The pancakes, I'm told, were only average. Overall, hard to recommend this place for the food. Pretty underwhelming food, but if I am passing by and I'm hungry, I might come back. I liked seeing all the planes and taking pictures with them however. Side-note: The menu says Fresh USDA Beef Pounded out daily. Definitely got confused due to the naming (chicken fried steak vs country fried steak) and thanks for Emily F. for correcting me and letting me know. Looked them up and I know better now. I give up. We're tried to get food three or four times on our way from Santa Clarita to Ventura because I've heard the Chicken Fried Steak is good. They either close super early, or we can't reach anyone, or they're not taking to go orders at that time. Today I checked online to make sure they were open, we waited until we got close to Santa Paula to call in our order ... and was told again that they aren't doing to go orders at the moment.
