    strawberry souffle pancake

I stopped by for a quick breakfast. and we got seated right away, the servers were so nice and helpful. I really liked the decorations and the overall look of the place. The food came out less than 10 minuets when we ordered! I got the strawberry souffle pancakes and they were presented really well but they tasted like eggs. I also got some truffle fries and those were delicous! food: 4/5 service: 5/5 ambiance: 5/5

Decent soufflé pancake. Maple cream was not too sweet. Overall great experience. Did wish the AC could run.

Had high expectations, was slightly disappointed. Place was so busy and even the food took almost 45minutes to come out after ordering. There are plenty of other souffle pancake places where you won't have to wait almost 2 hours to get seated then your food. The pancake was fluffy but the taste was underwhelming. Wasn't particularly memorable in flavor and pancake was kinda small/flat. Place is nice and clean but just too busy.

First off, what a cute name for a pancake place! It is home of the original soufflé pancakes. It is a Japanese style of pancakes. This place is cute when you go upstairs that is where all the tables are. If there is a line you wait downstairs. The waitress I had was nice and answered my questions I had. I had the pancakes with fruit and whip cream. There is syrup on the table already, but if you want butter you will have to ask for it. I ate all of it so it was pretty darn good. And I had a side of scrambled eggs which too were very good. If you are in the area I highly suggest stopping in and trying some soufflé pancakes.

Ambiance - good, they have 2 floors. 1st floor was a small space for waiting after you checked in from kiosk - yes reserve ahead!!! once our table was ready, we went to 2nd floor. the space was pretty awesome! lots of windows and bright. We were seated next to a corner windows and we get to enjoy the street view. Pretty and relaxing even when the dining area was full of ppl. Service - they were nice and polite. they get you what you needed. Food - was fantastic. everything was super yummy and the pancakes was fluffy. yum yum yum. Don't leave without trying to truffle mayo, especially with fries. it is a perfect match!

If you're closed for renovation, that information should be clearly updated on Yelp. You also should NOT allow people to join the waitlist while you're not operating. We're visiting New York for just 4 days and went out of our way to come here for breakfast, only to find out you're still under renovation. This was extremely disappointing and a frustrating experience.

Had the most delicious "pancake souffle" at this venue. Not a fancy place, but the service is quick and efficient and the pancakes were light, fluffy and delicious!

For breakfast on a Saturday morning, we set our sights on a well-known place somewhat nearby but of course - there was a long line around the block. In a scramble we walked elsewhere which had a line. While waiting I found this place on a random search and looked good so we hopped an uber and came here. What makes this place great is the ability to join the waitlist on Yelp- which I did. We pulled up and walked in right as our name was being called. Sat upstairs - bright colors, large windows, and a good crowd. We ordered coffee/matcha and a couple orders of their soufflé pancakes, as well as splitting hash browns and sausage for the table. My soufflé pancakes were very good, topped with maple cream and had syrup to add. I will say that the pancakes came out very slow, but that is indicated on the menu. The hash browns were good - spicy Mayo, and the sausage was standard. I really liked this place - and would highly recommend it.

Service was great and quick! Chicken was seasoned to perfection, the waffles were ok. If you're lactose intolerant, take your pills . Everything has milk/dairy in it. Strawberry sake was delicious, a few of those will have you on your butt! Will come back more prepared next time.

This is from February 1st, 2024, my very first visit to Flipper's. Me and my fiancé were unsure what to expect from Flipper's as we were just in search of a nice breakfast place. However, after our very first visit to Flipper's, we became obsessed. Im honestly shocked that they have any bad reviews, they have great wait times, absolutely caring and kind staff and service, and lastly, the food comes EXTREMELY quick but lacks no flavor, it's honestly impressive. They use a specific oil to fry their food and it adds a unique flavor to their food that I love coming back for. I cannot wait for this place to re-open. It's one of my top 3 frequently visited restaurants and as long as it's open, i'll be back. Ps. great view of the surrounding blocks of SoHo.

Flipper's/Soufflé Pancakes: These Japanese pancakes were light and fluffy. Because of the texture, it took approximately 20 minutes to prepare, but it was definitely worth the wait As a bonus, there is a viewing area to watch the chef cook them first hand.

If you're a pancake lover, and especially if you adore banana and chocolate, you NEED to try the banana chocolate souffle pancakes here. Seriously, I'm still dreaming about them. The texture? A light, airy, slightly sweet cloud that just melts in your mouth. Each bite was like a delicate, warm hug. And then, the perfectly ripe banana slices and the decadent chocolate sauce drizzled on top? The service was also fantastic. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to answer all our questions. If you're looking for a special breakfast treat, or just want to experience pancake perfection, this is your spot. Just be prepared to be amazed by the light, airy, and utterly delicious banana chocolate souffle pancakes. You won't regret it!

Flipper's has been on my list of places to eat at NYC, especially that they specialize in brunch!! They don't take reservations however they do have a waitlist option. We arrived at nearly 9am on a Saturday and were seated instantly. There was an abundance of seats and we were provided the corner seat. Didn't even have to ask for the window! Amazing service already upon crossing through the doors. The whole dining area had an open concept. They have tables that can cater to various group sizes. They have a 14 seater dining table in the middle of the room that I'd love to be on one day! Service was very efficient that we were able to have our fill and be out in an hour. We ordered soufflé pancakes and eggs Benedict with lemonade and tea. The eggs Benedict were over pancakes, tomato and greens and can come with either ham, bacon or smoked salmon. The eggs were absolutely divine!! The soufflé pancakes were fluffy and delicious with fruit and sauce. The ice cream was a nice touch. I would have that for dessert rather than breakfast since I enjoy the savory foods more than sweets. Thanks for having us!

    Ask the Community - Flipper’s

Is there a time limit on how long you can stay here?

AFAIK, there hasn't been a formal time limit in all the times I've been here. It's pretty busy here and seats are limited though.…

Why are the fluffy pancakes not available for pickup or delivery orders?

I have ordered a soufflé pancake to go for a friend who couldn't make it there that time but I did it while eating there.

    Is vaccination card required?

    It is, yes.

    Do they take reservations?

No, they don't take reservations, walk-in only

    Is there restrooms available?

    Yes.

    Is it byob? Champagne?

    No it's not unfortunately

Do you have to make a reservation?

We were able to walk in, but would suggest for busier times/days

Are they actually open? Nobody is picking up the phone

They're open! We walked right in :)

    Do they take cash?

    Yes

    Any Vegan options?

Not really--all the main items have either eggs or meat. The soufflé pancakes are fluffy bc of eggs. Regular pancakes also have eggs. A few of the sides might be vegan but I wouldn't recommend this spot for vegans.

Are you open on Thanksgiving day?

    Yes, open on Thanksgiving

Which of the soufflé pancakes is the best and which are the least sweet?

My favorite is the strawberry. It's not too sweet. The original plain one is not sweet you decide how sweet you want it by adding syrup.

    Do they do takeout?

I don't think so because they said not to wait my friend's pancakes since pancake'll be not fluffy and start to eat soon I get it today. They said that's because of killing…

    What are their store hours?

11am to 7pm (Hopefully, they will extend their hours)

    Do they accept cash?

    Yes they do accept cash

Any one know their business hours?

    11am-7pm

Lady Blue has saved me twice now, when needing to grab dinner before a Broadway show. Yesterday (Sat) we got last minute tickets to an 8pm show and had to quickly find a place for dinner. Many of the spots in the Theater District were already booked from 5:30-7:30. Some were just way overpriced. I had been to Lady Blue before and liked it, and they had 6pm availability. When we arrived, it was lively but not unbearably crowded. The place is small with a few booths, but surprisingly the hostess brought the two of us to a full booth. It felt nice and luxurious! And we did not have to wait or fight for the table at all. Our waitress was very attentive, checking on us multiple times. As others have mentioned, this place is much more than a cocktail bar - they serve a wide variety of American food (flatbreads, burgers/sandwiches, entrees) - however the cocktails are fun and interesting too. My friend got the Magic Mermaid and I got the Chai Fashioned cocktail. Hers was so fun - blue in a fishbowl looking glass with a tail fin sticking out. Mine was a unique take on the typical Old Fashioned filled with spices. Next we got bacon-wrapped dates to start - absolutely delicious. Perfect mix of sweet and savory flavors of bacon, blue cheese, and date. For mains, we both got the Lady B Burger, which was a step up from the regular burger - we were able to order as we liked it (I got the bacon on the side). It also comes with a salad but you can pay extra for fries or tots. I got truffle fries, which hit the spot. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed - the music was kind of a remix of 70s hits and newer stuff. We were able to eat at comfortable pace, pay, and leave with plenty of time before our show. I will definitely be back!

Cute place but I probably won't be back.

Friedman's d/b/a Gayle's Broadway Rose where there are singing servers who are struggling actors/actresses attempting to get into the acting/stage/film industry while working in the food service restaurant business. I did not experience the singing servers during my patronized visit. Upon entering the Maître d' announced "right now, we're only seating at the bar counter not at tables," so why do I see patrons sitting at booth tables? Oh! It was somewhat busy but not at full capacity for full-on hustle bustle busy. Seating for one, please. Me, myself and I. Friedman's is located adjacent to Hotel Edison and restroom facility is in the hotel's lobby. Access to Hotel Edison's facility is limited as the hotel's staff will stop all who enter as I am not a hotel guest. I believe Friedman's is very overhype, and overrated. My male server/waiter calls all the female patrons "love" which does not bother me and does not irk me at all. But please do not call me "babe", "baby", "mamma" or "mommy" as these are too sexist, outdated and stereotype in some cultures/race directed at women. Friedman's is certainly a modern American luncheonette. No comment for alcohol as I not order any. There are no business cards for keepsake. Pastrami on rye $26.00 Mustard, pickle and vinegar chips The meat heavily embedded with a lot of white fat stretched and stuck together when bitten. The meat tasted very bland lacking flavor. The pastrami is NOT brined, seasoned certainly not smoked and not a hot sandwich. It is not cured pastrami. The mustard was mild spicy which gave the meat a zesty kick for aliveness, but very minimally applied. The pickle was average. The vinegar chips were very stale and harden. The rye bread was average with caraway seeds which was blah. I am uninterested in caraway seeds. Katz's Delicatessen continues to reign supreme in pastrami on rye as the meat is excessively abundant quantity piled high and very flavorful taste without the need of mustard or mayo condiment. I prefer this sandwich accompanied with fries like Katz's Delicatessen offers. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 20%, 22% and 25% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I was able to obtain my sales receipt as keepsake.
