    Pepperoni slice
    Robyn D.

Ended up at Flippin Pizza tonight, honestly because Truly apparently ran out of pizza dough so were closed!!! We got a gluten free pizza which used cauliflower crust and it was quite good! My slice of cheese and pepperoni were okay. I think if I had ordered a whole pie it would have been more fresh, but slices get put back in the oven so it was a bit dry. We also got the meatballs and they were yum and cMe with ricotta. The bathroom was very clean and smelled good, and there is parking in a lot.

    Camping, surfing and pizza

I was looking for a pizza place close to Doheny state beach and found Flippin Pizza. I ordered ahead online and headed to the Albertsons nearby for camping snacks and beverages while I waited for my order. Service was great, and the person I assumed was the manager offered me a free drink while I waited! They have peppers, Parmesan, and napkins to grab on your way out. So I ordered an 18" half Bronx, and half Triboro, with ricotta cheese as an add on since I've been on a ricotta cheese kick lately. I also ordered lemon pepper wings. Everything was amazing! One slice was enough to get me full.. but since I technically ordered two kinds of pizzas, I had a few more bites extra of the other variety. The wings were exceptionally scrumptious. I like that they have small portions available (I ordered a 4 piece). Definitely coming back and looking forward to trying the garlic knotts next time.

    Cheese calzone

I had a cheese calzone made fresh for me. It was do delicious and HUGE! It was so large that the cook sliced it up into three pieces for me. Paired with their marinara sauce = chef's kiss. The staff were friendly and served with a smile. This location was clean and had a chill vibe to stop in for lunch. Definitely returning to try more options!

Great lunch special's, tables for dine in. Friendly staff and great pizzas. Cozy chill place.

"Oh Baby" salad with 2x chicken?!

First and last time. Definitely nothing special to encourage to go out and try. Overpriced for a mediocre pizza. Salad was horrible. Nothing fresh about it and paid to have chicken added (plus extra chicken) which clearly was missed.

    Pepperoni Pie 18"

I came here based on reviews, and wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed how the pizza was thin crust, not too much bread. I also got the large Caesar salad and that was enough for two ppl. Service was good and quick. Will be returning again.

    Cheese

Waaay too much sauce. I ordered extra cheese so maybe they were trying to overcompensate??. Pepperoni had no flavor and crust was a 5 out of 10...Very disappointed. I am from New Jersey. Can't believe any NY or NJ person would give this place a good review.

    Not Italian or New York.
    Bruce C.

When I saw Flippin' Pizza claiming to offer New York quality pizza...I didn't believe it. Pathetic pizza is the average in So. OC, nobody makes a great pie. Of course, before you can accept this truth you have to know real NY pizza made by Italians on the island...otherwise you are clueless. California style pizza is 10% that of an authentic New York pizza. I know, my Italian wife is from The City and we have enjoyed many truly incredible slices there. But locating that quality duplicated here has been comparable to spotting Bigfoot riding a unicorn. I gave Flippin' a shot but as I watched the pie being built, knew instantly disappointment was in my future. Ya see, the key to making a truly genuine NY style pizza lies in the ingredients. You must have the right type of tomatoes, cheese, and other toppings and well...Flippin' just doesn't. It's just another California pie made using local ingredients. I hate to say it cuz I liked the kids working here...but claiming to be an east coast style pizza kitchen is blatantly false. This is west coast pie all the way and an average version of it at that. Those unfamiliar with exceptional NY pizza won't know but for those with educated palates...save yourself the letdown. Flippin' is not even close to the real thing. They need to import ingredients from the Atlantic side of the country to accomplish the goal they claim to offer. The hunt continues...

Best New York style pizza in Orange County. Highly recommend the Bronx pizza. Don't forget the homemade ranch dressing on the side.

I had to wait in line behind people ordering in order to pick up (food was behind the counter waiting for me in a bag) which sort of defeats the purpose of ordering from home. I would've liked to be able to pick up instead of waiting in line but I also understand the issues of people walking out with your food! The food itself was a good sized portion. I'd relate the taste to how chipotle is in comparison to true authentic Mexican food. It's good but it's not truly authentic Greek cuisine. I'd go here again for lunch! We made a complaint, and for a while we slowly saw some improvement. However, we visited twice again--once last month and again this month--and the customer service was not friendly or accommodating whatsoever. The rice was horrible, tasteless, and overcooked. We asked to pay for additional chipotle and yogurt sauce, and they failed to include it with our meal. Last month we also had a to-go order, and the chicken was overcooked. As I mentioned before, we have patronized the San Diego Luna Grill location, where the food is always outstanding and the service is amazing. The owner of this franchise should be aware of how this location is being run.

Today, on a Saturday at 12-ish, as a family of 4 we were able to get seated right away. Our server was attentive and offered/brought waters right away. We were seated inside which was open and spacious but loud enough to make it family friendly. The tables were far enough a part that you did not feel like you were on top of each other. Next time, we might ask to sit outside so our young boys can watch the cars drive by. We learned that the kitchen is nut free (always double check as this could change), which was amazing since our son has a severe nut allergy. He was so excited to learn this as he can be limited at other places due to cross contamination or the wrong oils. Then when the food came out and it was delicious - it sealed the deal. It is now in the top of our list of places to go. The kids cheeseburger is good size and not a smaller version as some places do. The chicken tenders were panko crusted which was so crunchy. My husband and I shared the smoked carrot and chicken tacos and we enjoyed them both. The beer was also very good with my husband and I each trying a different kind - an IPA and a Pale Ale. We are so glad we finally stopped in and so should you!

My server was super sweet, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was very chill. I got the smoked wings and a side caesar salad for balance. The wings were pretty good. I'm more of a dry rub person, so I enjoyed the wings especially dipped in blue cheese! The caesar was ok. The croutons were good, but it was too much cheese for me. I'd come back again to try their other food.

Instead, she found herself waiting on the cancellation list, hoping someone wouldn't show up. I remember thinking, "That's a long drive for pizza." Two hours later, walking back to the car completely stuffed, I understood. We had reservations for six, booked a few weeks in advance, and it all made sense by the end of the meal. The Sweet & Spicy was the standout for me, balancing sweetness, heat, and creamy cheese without letting any one flavor overpower the others. The Truly White was a pleasant surprise. Creamy ricotta and pepperoncinis don't seem like obvious partners, but the tang from the peppers kept the richness in check and made each bite better than the last. The Smoky Vodka packed bold flavor, and even the classic cheese reminded me how difficult it is to perfect something so simple. Every pizza shared the same foundation: an airy, beautifully blistered crust with just the right amount of chew. It carried the toppings effortlessly while still being flavorful enough to enjoy on its own. This is comfort food maximized. The Dana Point Wedge was outstanding and easily worth sharing. We also ordered the spicy wings, which brought plenty of flavor and just the right amount of heat. Almost as an afterthought, we ordered a few sides of their house made ranch for the wings. Before long, we were dipping pizza into it too. I don't usually mention ranch in a review, but this one deserves it. It's comfortably in my top three I've ever had. Don't skip dessert. We ordered both soft serve flavors available that day, Olive Oil and Cherry. They couldn't have been more different, yet both were exceptional. The Olive Oil was silky, subtle, and unexpectedly elegant, while the Cherry was bright, refreshing, and the perfect finish after such a rich meal. The Ace Pear Cider was crisp, refreshing, and paired beautifully with everything we ordered. The service was warm, attentive, and genuine without ever feeling rehearsed. The patio was comfortable without sitting in direct sunlight, and even the restroom was clean. There was a line for that too, which honestly made me laugh because it felt just as hard to get into as the restaurant itself. Parking is limited, but we found street parking about a block away. After eating this much pizza, the slow walk back to the car felt earned.
