Pretty good go to pizza joint. Has the typical pizza offerings of specialty combos. The crust was good thin but not cardboard. Pizza had very well distributed toppings. We had the Bronx to go. I do wish there were more specialty combinations that have a unique twist or something to set this place apart from the rest. I was driving back to La tripped on this place it sits in the shopping centre by Vons in Scripps Ranch. First Alphonso who works there told me how he preps the dough fresh without sugar . The water they use makes it taste like a NY style dough. The pizza was crusty, fresh and soft. It wasn't oily at all I was surprised by the taste I had to have another slice and the two guys gave me an amazing walk through of the process gave me jalapeños and some pizza sauce . They seem to have timing issues (staffing, likely) with the orders and the wait the past few times was a bit much. Date of visit: June 9, 2019 While I don't venture into Scripps Ranch that often (the furthest I usually go is Lake Miramar), the Money Mailer coupon from Flippin' Pizza that I got for three free garlic knots with any purchase was enticing enough for me to check it out - and so I found myself at this strip mall off of Scripps Ranch Blvd. perusing the place. As I LOVE calzones, I ordered a small Brooklyn Calzone ($8.50) and a regular drink ($2.50) to go with my garlic knots. After a short time, my waiter brought my order to me... and for the most part, my meal was delicious. The combination of pepperoni, sliced meatballls, portobello mushrooms, garlic, and mozzarella and ricotta cheeses went well, and even though the calzone was a pretty decent size for a small, two pieces were enough to fill me up. Although the garlic in the garlic knots was somewhat negligable (I tasted more of the butter than the garlic), the dough was nice and chewy with a semi-crisp exterior. I have to mention, though, that both the calzone and the garlic knots were garnished with shredded basil... or at least, I'm guessing basil, as I wasn't sure as what the green vegetable was topping my order. Two other things to mention - not only does the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine have a rather limited selection of drink choices (no Dr. Pepper/Diet Dr. Pepper!), the server who brought me my order first gave me the wrong one! Added to the lack of ambiance inside the rather small dining location, and my experience with Flippin' Pizza was just... okay. This cute little pizza shop was a very nice new surprise and much much better than the old Z pizza. We ordered a 2 pizza slice combo with drink. They have all their specialty pizza slices prepped and ready to cook in just minutes. They offer one n two pizza slice combos. You can also order a whole awesome pizza. All the pizza is New York style with thin crisp crust. It is sensational and fantastically flavored. We loved the Brooklyn pizza. I took a bite and was transported back east with it's perfectly crisp thin crust and homemade pizza sauce. Well done! The drink fountain was the new coke dispenser with many flavored cokes n sodas. They will soon have beer n wine also. Exceptional staff here was very friendly, attentive and worked expertly to get us our perfect pizza fast. They cared about customer service. I am not totally flipping out about this pizza, but I did like it! I had the two slice special with a fountain drink for $7.99. I went with a traditional pepperoni and a tomato basil slice, and unfortunately they did not offer unsweetened ice tea so, I had Sprite Zero. Bring that tea! Both slices were very nice, but I favored the pepperoni slice. The pepperonis had those nice crispy edges that had them folding up. I love when that happens. The sauce and cheese were just right. I added a little bit of dried oregano and grated parm, and I was ready to roll! The tomato basil slice came with a white sauce which was good, but the slice was slightly over baked and some of the cheese was baked off which made it feel that it was lacking cheese. It was a tasty slice and I would have it again. I appreciated that they put fresh basil a top after baking. The crust on the pepperoni slice was much better because it offered three elements a good crust offers. It had good texture in the way of some crispiness, some chew were it was thicker, and a little bit of softness, not to mention food flavor. The tomato basil with its slight over baking provided a thorough crispiness. The staff were quite nice and the gent making and baking the pizzas had a good sense of humor. The North county best pizza search continues. I had really high hopes for Flippin. The reviews are mostly 5 stars and the pictures looked pretty good. I found the taste to be pretty average. The flavor of the cheese and sauce were bland and the crust was a little tough to chew. I got some sides of the sauce and it was almost soupy.The garlic knots and meatballs were not bad though. Just stopped by for the first time today, and the pizza was delicious! I tried the bbq chicken and triboro pizza. Both tasted really fresh and they also advertise that their pizzas have no added sugar, no added oil, and no added corn syrup. I definitely noticed the pizza tasted lighter and healthier than other pizza options out there, and I felt good eating it. The staff were also very friendly and greeted me right away when I entered. I used to get pizza from a different location, but moved closer to this Scripps Ranch location recently. I have ordered from here twice, and we will not be returning again due to the length of time it took to receive my orders. I placed an order this past weekend at 4pm, and had a time estimate of 45 minutes. Great, no problem, I figured it would take them longer than that to get here since they have to deliver to multiple homes. After 1.5 hrs, still nothing, so I tried to call-no answer. Waited another 15 min, finally got through to someone. He simply said, "it'll be there in 5 minutes, no give me 10 minutes." Ok, fine... I would have appreciate a brief apology or some sort of explanation. I get it if you're busy or understaffed, that's totally fine, but I think if orders are going to be significantly late, a call just to give me a heads up would be a nice common courtesy or at least apologize when I have to reach out to you myself because it's been more than twice the estimated time length. A little after 2 hrs, still no delivery. I had plans coming up (and we were trying to eat before we had to go) and had to leave my house in 10 minutes and just could not wait any longer. I called back, no answer. I kept calling, and had 2 times where the phone was picked up and I was immediately HUNG UP ON. Finally, the store answered and I told the staff member that I needed to cancel my order because I had to leave my house and it had been over 2 hrs, I really just couldn't wait any longer. He told me that the pizza was already on the way, but at this point I literally had to leave my house. There was no acknowledgment that anything was wrong or any attempt to try to rectify the situation. I also now have to call my credit card company because the store did not refund my order, so more of my time is wasted. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with the food but I just won't be supporting them due to the terrible customer service. read more

I had the Whitestone because I just love the luxuriousness of a good white sauce but I would definitely be interested in going back to try a red slice in the future.
