Shopping for hardwood floors has been an education on what to select. Don't buy dark or shiny finishes if you have large dogs or afraid of scratches showing in the flooring. Well, we have a couple of dogs, so I'm looking for dogwood made by Bruce Flooring. The costs are fairly competitive with the prices along State College, but because it's so close to my home, I may save on installation costs, so we'll see whether it makes a difference in price. The store is huge and larger than those found on State College in Anaheim, with a much cleaner layout for all types of flooring. Did I mention they also have a custom designed for your needs? This is something that is much appreciated, as I have no color sense when it comes to matching paints and flooring. Oscar was incredibly helpful and had the most exceptional refined eye for design and color scheme. It's refreshing to see people who truly give good customer service because they take pride in their job. He gave me not just good design input but helped me with all of my logistical purchasing and delivery questions. He is a gem and this Rosemead store is lucky to have him. This is a review that took 1 year to write not because I'm lazy but the remodeling process was 10 months and now seeing and living in the space gives me so much satisfaction that the process was worth it. I like to think I'm pretty decent in having an eye on style and keeping it tasteful but working with Socorro Ruiz at this store always amazed me! She is a natural in mixing and matching materials. I remodeled my first house by myself so I knew what I did wrong by trial and error so this 2nd time I had some experience and came into the store knowing my color scheme and budget. I never knew there was a free design service with this chain (I was already a frequent shopper at the Downey location 7 years ago but no one mentioned it). She just walked up to me one day to ask if I needed help as I was staring at bathroom tiles. I told her my situation and instantly we started walking together and she would pull samples and put it together on a design table. Her creation that day was really cool and I knew I had to see her for every bathroom project I had. I made a formal appt, brought my floor plan so she could take the measurements of each bathroom, and discussed the "inspiration" and style of what I wanted in each bathroom. I saved photos on my phone to show her and that was what she needed to get to work! Each bathroom had its own personality so 1 appt for each bathroom. We would walk around the whole store taking samples and narrowing it down to 2 looks that my husband would vote on through txt. I will also mention that she will work with any budget and create a masterpiece. When I first came in I thought I had a decent budget to play with so I was able to afford some marble here and there. Once covid started making materials expensive and scarce my contractor's original quote blew up 25% for the basic stuff (like copper pipes) so I had to scale back on my bathroom materials. We had to regroup and chose tile that looked like marble and man it fooled many people who have walked through the house so far. Can't say enough about the team there but Socorro is a designer that u need to have. And it's free! She's a straightforward gal and will tell u her opinions which I appreciate because I do not want to stare at something that will age quickly and badly. Bring her food to thank her. She's popular and sometimes forgets to eat lunch! read more

If you're going to do DIY, check in here with the Pro, Darren. I was blessed to be put in his path. He is the MAN!! I watched over a dozen YouTube videos and got the courage to go on this mission. I walked into the Floor Decor store in San Gabriel, and I found it odd that an employee would walk me around and help me pick out all the necessary Items to do my Subway tile Backsplash job. He also walked me through how to do the job. I had a lot of questions and had to return twice. The first time, I told Darren I wanted to quit. He wasn't having it. He said I tell my kids, "finish what you start" sound words. I took a breath and dove back into the job. Being a teacher and having the summer off helped make this 5-day job possible. Buyer beware. It's the only store I've ever heard of that will not take a return by using your credit card. You must have a receipt or you get store credit. Manager claimed that they should be able to look us up by our phone number, however we were never asked to give them our phone number. A rare negative review from me. I can now feel the repercussions of how bad we were screwed over by F&D for not even one person contacting me that we are waiting on nothing after almost a month of placing our order for the wood floors for our house. Our supposed 3-week project now turned into 7-week project... and counting! I have been lied on over & over every time I call their order line, that it's in their Moreno Valley distribution center. Only to find out weeks after that they sourced some wood from Portland, OR, because someone 'snagged' my order and their desperate move of taking it upon themselves to source for replacements led to this that could have been avoided with even just one phone call for us to come over and make another selection from their materials in stock! Up to the last minute before I even showed up to their SG store, the lady in their order line was still giving me the run around that there's an email from their source that the wood will be in their store in another 24-48 hours. I will not wait another day after going through a wild goose chase, hence, we decided to personally go to the store and demand for a full refund of our order. 8/14/22 when the order was placed, it's now 9/17/22 and we're still out and about, not in our house because we may have found wood floor replacements somewhere else but we still have to acclimate the wood for another week to be installed. I cannot imagine if we still waited another 48 hours, per the order line lady, of what would those wood floors look they purchased from a totally different company in Portland, Oregon? Bottom line, in this time and age, communication is still very detrimental on any type of business transactions. One phone call (or email) will always make a huge difference. read more
