There is nothing not to love here at Flour Bakery. They make the most exquisite assortment of baked goodies and they do some equally delicious sandwiches. On my first trip here I got the stuffed bread special for there along with a soy latte then a cookie togo. The stuffed bread was on the pricey side but it was really perfect and I have never had anything like it before so well worth it for me. So it the "flavor" for that day sounds appealing go for it! :) Latte was good. Balanced. Nothing mind blowing but did the trick. Decor: Homey, crowded, bustling. Lots of outdoor seating not a whole lot of indoor seating. Service: Good, not awesome but not rude either. Probably was my fault cuz I wasn't making a decision like the second I went up to the counter... One big peeve of mind though is when employees will clear a table but won't wipe it down??? Your towel IS RIGHT THERE just wipe down super quick and your done...but nope lets just leave the sticky bun residue of the previous person on the table. Overall definitely good outweighs bad. My husband & I love going to flour bakery on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Their egg sandwiches served on brioche, with tomato, lettuce, mustard, and Canadian Bacon (we usually order it without the meat) is a great gourmet twist on a fried egg sandwich. Their fresh donuts are divine and are covered with granulated sugar and filled with a fluffy cream. These donuts practically melt in your mouth. All of their pastries are great and their sandwiches are some of the best around. Came here for lunch on a Thursday around 11am. This location is much smaller compared to the one on Clarendon St, not much seating. A lot of people were getting pick-up orders or getting food to go. But we ordered to dine in and grabbed 2 seats at a community table. I got the everything-spiced tuna + citrus salad, which had cooked tuna (like what comes in a can/packet), orange & grapefruit wedges, red gem lettuce, fennel, caper berries, mixed seed brittle (added sweetness and crunch), and a lemon-tahini vinaigrette for $10.50. I loved this salad! So fresh and lots of different flavors/textures going on. My husband got the hummus sandwich - fresh hummus, pickled daikon, big slices of cucumber, shredded carrots, peppers, vegan sriracha aioli (spicy!), & cilantro on focaccia bread. He loved it as well. In Oklahoma, most veggie sandwiches are a sad piece of lettuce, slice of tomato, maybe some cheese. THIS is how you do a veggie sandwich! We also shared a freshly baked parmesan & chive scone, which was great as well. Dear Flour in the South End, I've been coming here for over a year due to working close by. Although I'm not a sandwich girl I enjoy your lunch sandwiches. But I don't enjoy the price however the quality is insatiably good. I've also tried your breakfast French toast and oatmeal and those were quite good as well. Because the temperature is getting cooler I now order your soups of the day. I will say that you season your soups so well my mouth always craves more after each hot spoonful. I've even tried your pastries and those are killer delicious too. Why only a 4 star, well sometimes it's a bit chaotic in there and I don't know who's waiting for their order and who needs to place an order. Every Sunday Flour sells doughnuts, and i was so sad that i missed it, however they have a good selection of baked goods. I suggest going on their website and looking at their menu, because with this particular location, there isn't much room to stand in the bakery and contemplate what you are about to order. I ordered the almond croissant, it had a great taste, but it was heavy instead of being flaky. My sis had the maple scone, and she had the same problem, i know scones should be dense, but this was overly hard. As a side note, i purchased her cookbook and it is fantastic, i have made about 6 recipes and they all have turned out extremely well. Overall, we enjoyed sitting out on flours patio and people watching, but next time i go i will choose something else to order. read more

Waited in a long line on Sunday around lunchtime, but totally worth it! Very cute spot, great for a date but may be a bit crowded. First time here, so of course I had to try the award-winning sticky buns. However, they ran out of the standard buns so I got the bread pudding version. No matter - they were still incredible, especially if you like pecans and caramel. One is enough to share between 2 people, and I'd suggest pairing it with coffee - it's pretty sweet. Also wanted to try their cookies, so I got their (also famous) "Chunky Lola" with oats, dark chocolate, coconut, and toasted pecans. Tip: Get it warmed!! Wish I had done that. It's impossible to go wrong at Flour. I have tried nearly every pastry and dessert, several salads, soups and sandwiches, and I have loved it all. The seating here and at all flour locations can be tight, so if you want to meet a friend, go early to grab a seat since you usually have to hover to find a seat, especially if you go during peak times. They are a source of reliable, comfy food we all deserve and need once in a while. I love how the bun is not dry (like it was at Panera) and serve as a perfect base for the pecans. The brownie is this moist ooey goodness of chocolate. The lightly flaky top is a perfect compliment to the soft, decadent awesomeness that is the brownie. Flour brownies are truly heaven on earth! The closest second I've ever had was from a small bakery on the outskirts of London whose name I can't even recall. Flour has mastered the perfect amount of rich decadence without being overly sweet or too cakey. I hope they never change the recipe or preparation method - I stop in every time I am within proximity of one of their bakeries just to be able to savor one of these over the course of a few days. I'm not a fan of overly sweet stuff, and the seltzer was perfect, not to mention the fact that it's basically the embodiment of summer in a drink. If you're missing the warm weather, then this will make you miss it even more. The sandwiches are great. I got the BLT, and I loved it. I like my bread toasted till it's a little crunchy. A really friendly space! I had a coffee and half of the lamb sandwich. Welp, that's what I had intended to get until I realized that I had left my wallet at home and they don't use Apple pay or anything... HOWEVER the great staff suggested that I could just enter in my CC number into their terminal if I remembered it. Well, I'm weird and have all that info memorized, entered it, and was ready to go! Absolutely an amazing result with a hearty and tasty sandwich and coffee. The sandwich was good...the lamb was a bit chewier than I would've liked....could have had a bit more flavour to earn that 5th star, same with their coffee. Fabulous! I had the perfect lamb sandwich--with a great tomato chutney, some arugula and goat cheese--on a wonderful soft, fresh bread. A great chocolate chip cookie to follow. With a hippie-chic, tatted and pierced group of kids providing nice service--I appreciated the fact that they brought up that there was free tap water around the corner from the counter, I did not have to buy bottled water--hey other restaurants, this is thoughtful service that will get me back to Flour! Got lunch here the other day with my brother. The place was packed, but they kept things moving which was good. I got a soup that was one of the specials for the day. It was quite good, but a little tepid since they seemed to just have a big pot already cooked that they just served from... not a huge fan of that. wow! its true, the stinky buns are the best I've ever had. And I say this only haven taken one bite. I read about the buns somewhere....boston mag? improper? On paper, this sandwich seems quite boring. And frankly, I was surprised that my sister ordered such a sandwich when the chicken sandwiches descriptions were quite enticing. She figured that eating a vegetarian sandwich would a bit healthier than the normal fare. We were both blown away. The sandwich was truly well-toasted and had a lovely crunch. Loved the pecans for some crunch and texture too. Pair this with one of their hot coffees and you're set for a lovely afternoon treat! For savory things, I've tried the roast beef sandwich before. It's delicious and huge! The serving of roast beef is generous and the sauce goes so well with it. It's a really filling lunch and I can never finish it in one go. My friend tried the macaroon since I don't like coconut personally, and said it was good. I also enjoyed the raspberry crumb bar, but it was a little too much on the sweet side. The workers here are fantastic. Despite how busy it got, they were cool and collected. It's a small space and can get packed and overwhelming within seconds. The mirror by the wall creates a false illusion that there's more space.... But no... There really isn't. We had the: + STICKY BUN: our first time trying this favorited bun and glad we got to dip our fingers in this hot mess. I wish it was served warm (do we need to ask?)... But we got it cold and it was (3.5-4/ 5 stars) it wasn't too sweet and was too sticky; just the right amount. But I'm sure I was left with the "mouth-watering" impression that everyone else had written about... I came here for lunch and ordered the Curry Tuna Sandwich, which I highly recommend. The curry flavor was perfectly balanced so that the curry didn't overpower the whole sandwich, while still maintaining its flavor. The filling was slightly tangy and bright though from what I am unsure of. The plump raisins added some nice natural sweetness making that one darn good sandwich. The tomatoes were juicy and fresh, as were the salad greens. The bread was grilled and toasty and warm. The insides of the bread were fluffy and slightly sweet. Unfortunately when I got here they had already sold out of their acclaimed sticky buns. But I did try their Carrot Cake which was a delectable three layer cake. The cake itself was moist and perfectly sweetened (not too sweet) with a nice crumb. The frosting was a heavenly cream cheese frosting, not too sweet with tang from the cream cheese. Get their sticky buns! This was our first stop once we arrived in Boston for the weekend. Their French roast coffee is smooth and delicious and pairs perfectly with the sticky bun. The Boston cream slice is also pretty good, and definitely has to be paired with coffee since each bite starts to feel sweeter than the one before. We didn't get a chance to try their savory foods, but it did look pretty good. Hopefully we'll have some room next time to try some lunch items on the menu.
