Today I was feeling something new and got the caesar salad and didn't realize that it wasn't gluten free, 100% my fault because the menu is very, very clear on what's gluten free and not. After I realized, I tried to buy a new salad without croutons and the waitress gave me a salad on the house. The steak is very good quality, and usually done exactly as you request (i prefer medium-rare). The best sides for me have been the sweet potato, the green beans (due to the sauce), and the quinoa is a good grain base around it all. There is very little parking near the area and it is extremely hard to find an available one. I think there are garages nearby but if you're lucky you can grab street parking. The interior is beautiful. It's clean, vibrant with plants and is very beautifully decorated. The menu is quite small but I got three sides (Brussels sprouts, Mac n Cheese, cauliflower) and added chicken as a protein. My boyfriend got the sweet potatoes and steak. The total was about $26 without tip. When we received our portions, it was a lot smaller than I would imagine for one side - and the steak was quite small too. But I somewhat expected this, it's a more pricy restaurant and that usually trades itself for less food. So I would recommend getting 1-2 sides if you want to get satisfied. My plate was about $15-16. All in all, it was really good. The chicken was cooked a little dry and I wish they had sauces besides balsamic vinegar (if they dont have any). The menu has a variety of light starters (we did the hummus with awesome pita bread...tip you can sub the pita for fresh veggies for an up charge). They also have basic plates so if you want a simple piece of fish with a lightly sautéed veggie, you got it! I would recommend getting a drink and trying some of their homemade concoctions. I've always been a fan of flower child so I was super stoked to find out that one had open downtown which is closer for several people than the domain location. The decor and interior is super cute as usual and gives a very casual Parisian vibe. I went with a couple friends so I was able to try a couple new bowls even though I ordered the Mother Earth for myself which is my all time favorite. So the way this place works is that if you want a salad or bowl, a base charge for the vegetables portion is $9-10 and addition of a protein such as chicken, tofu, or beef is an added $5-6. I think the addition of protein is totally unnecessary and costly as well since the original base bowl is already so full of flavor and salty enough that you don't even need the umami flavor from meat. But of course that is just personal opinion. The Mother Earth tasted good as usual although they forgot to put the pesto on my plate and I had not noticed until a friend of mine pointed out that they forgot the pesto haha. The Thai cashew quinoa was so-so and nothing apecial. It was just a small portion of quinoa in some drippy sauce that tasted like mushrooms so I wouldn't get that one. The forbidden bowl was pretty good. It's like a good portion of inauthentic Chinese stir fry. It's pretty sour so if you like a sour sauce, that's a good option to get. But overall Mother Earth is still my favorite and that's probably the only dish I'll continue to get. Also desserts are super expensive and nothing special. The gluten-free brownie tasted like any other GF brownie and the lemon olive oil cake tastes like a dense lemon cake, and I'd just rather have a fluffy lemon cake. read more
