Tofu with kale salad and Roasted Sweet Potato Fries
    Zee C.

Gorgeous place outside and in! Employees were friendly and helpful. I had mixed feelings about the food. It was different from what I expected. The sweet potatoes fried came out lukewarm and kind of soggy. The kale salad was chewy and one-note, heavily coated in dressing. The glow bowl was fine--sweet potato noodles were noodles made of potatoes rather than made with them (like pasta) and nice and crunchy. Some of the chicken was dry.

I had a really nice visit to Flower Child! I got the Bang Bang Beef (limited-time dish) and the chicken enchiladas. I will say, the price was a little on the higher end, but the staff was incredibly kind and efficient. One dish came out a bit faster than the other, but they were super sweet about it. The Bang Bang Beef was definitely the crowd favorite, and it's easy to see why. The interior was beautiful, and the patio was perfect for a sunny day which is great for a quick lunch with friends or family if you're in the Frontenac area. Overall, a solid spot!

Chopped vegetable salad with steak and a side of steamed brown rice

First let me call out the team at Flower Child for their continued awesome level of service. I have a delightful experience every time I come by and I'm in there almost every week at some point for lunch or dinner. Food quality is always on point too. Fresh vegetables and greens in the salads. Perfectly cooked proteins. I'd recommend the salmon or steak on the chopped vegetable salad any time. Can't miss healthy and flavorful eats and good service in a clean establishment. Gotta love it!! Enjoy!!!

Get the macaroni and cheese. You order first, then they set you up with a table. Came here for a working lunch, unfortunately it was a bit loud for the work we wanted to do, due to its fantastic location, the library is right across the street. I am trying to increase protein in my diet and even though the menu took me a second to figure out, it is set up very well. You pick a protein, then pick the 2 sides you want with it. I was feeling cheesy, so I got the Mac and cheese and the cauliflower risotto. Strange combination, but I'm glad I got to try them. If I was still doing keto/low carb I would have loved the risotto, but next to the mac and cheese, M&C was the best. So creamy, great flavor, it is gluten free, but there were some delightful crumbles on top. The salmon was cooked to perfection, I definitely look forward to getting salmon here again. Service, was minimal, but also very good. Since you pay and order at the front, it was a delight that they also checked on us when we were eating.

Wow, it's like an addiction at this point.. I can't stay away. My go to is the steak entree with the smashed gold potato and sweet corn & quinoa. Occasionally, I'll get the chicken entree with the same sides. Or their famous avocado Caesar - this dressing is to die for! I've tried the kung POW cauliflower, gluten free Mac and cheese, red chili glazed sweet potato, roasted broccoli, and sweet potato fries (get extra of their house made yogurt ranch)! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any decision you make here. I'll forever be a proud regular at Flower Child.

I love this spot and come here often with friends. I would describe this place as a perfect spot for lunch or dinner with the girls. Cute decor and a health consideration menu that feels indulgent while hitting all of your macro goals! You order your meal at the register, take a number, and find your seat. Then, one of the friendly workers will bring you your meal. Drinks (excluding alcohol) are self-service, as are utensils. The menu focuses on whole foods and had plenty of vegan and gluten-free offerings (important to my friends!) I usually get the shrimp bowl with cauliflower risotto and chili glazed sweet potato but I have also tried their glow bowl (pictured) and their ginger miso salad, both of which I enjoyed. This place isn't cheap, but I feel the value is appropriate when you factor in health and ambiance. Could you make it cheaper yourself? Sure. But would you?

The food was great. I had the Mother Earth Bowl with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries came with a rich yogurt dipping sauce that was delicious. The bowl contained ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushroom, avocado, cucumber, broccoli pesto, charred onion, leafy greens, red pepper miso vinaigrette, and hemp seed. It was really good. I loved all the flowers and decor inside. I especially liked the tables and chairs. The service was great as well. My fries were lukewarm and I asked for warm fries and the server/runner gladly replaced them with hot fries.

Very interesting restaurant. Right away when we entered, a guy asked us if we are dining in, and he assigned us a number and put said number on a table for us. We ordered at the counter and headed to the table he chose for us. The food potions are small, but very well seasoned and delicious. I guess they did say they are a health forward restaurant. The place is very lively and nicely decorated. Price is very reasonable. Nice drink selection. Located right next to Plaza Frontenac so there are plenty of parking outside.

Flower child is an elevated but fast casual restaurant that offers a variety of healthy but tasty food options. This restaurant is conveniently located next to the Frontenac mall/lifetime fitness. The service is counter service and then the staff bring out the food to you. They offer a variety of salads, bowls, wraps, and entrees. I ordered the chicken Yaki soba with tofu on top and a side of gluten free Mac and cheese. The sauce on both dishes was tasty but I did need to add extra salt to the tofu/Yaki soba noodles. Overall I enjoyed the meal. I do think it is a bit pricy but I would come back if I were looking for a healthy option and am in a pinch.

I've heard great things about this place and decided to check it out. I came around 12 for lunch and it wasn't overly crowded but steady. The staff is so nice and friendly and could tell we were new. I wanted to try their lemonade but once I saw the sangria, i had to give it a try. They give you a number and you seat yourself. The tables are close to each other but still a cool environment for lunch. Since this was our first time coming, I didn't know you could grab your napkins and utensils by the drink station but the staff grabbed these items for me after handing me my food. The avocado caesar salad with chicken added was really good. I enjoyed the avocado dressing that came with it. I can't recall what my friend ordered but she said it was really good too. Maybe a little salty but still really good and she would order again. The sangria was really refreshing and so tasty. So many other menu options I would like to try which means I'll return for more.

Mediterranean Chicken Kabob Glow Bowl with Salmon

I was a little intimidated by this spot because of my food allergies being all over the menu, but they more than exceeded my expectations! Both people at the register were diligent to note my allergies on my order and provide me an allergen menu. My friend had the chicken Mediterranean bowl and said it perfectly balanced all of the flavors. I had the glow bowl with salmon which also knocked it out of the park. Fresh, clean ingredients to nourish you all in the cutest spot. Next time you're around here, stop in!

I've had this place on my list for a while and my colleagues couldn't have picked a better day to come! We got there a little after 11 (which I was glad) and although there was a small line, it moved rather quickly. There were so many things I wanted to try but I finally decided on the Avocado Caesar with shrimp as a protein and a side of sweet potato fries. After ordering, they handed me a table number (open seating and there's plenty to choose from. Our food arrived after what seemed like mere minutes! I wasn't sure how big the portions would be but they were plentiful! The salad exceeded my expectations but the show winner was the dressing! It's not heavy and leaves a nice taste in your mouth. I'd describe it as a little tangy and would put the regular Caesar dressing to shame! The fries were pretty good but I wished they were as crispy as the other ones I saw. Overall, the food was well-seasoned and the portions were on point. I love the healthy concept and how friendly everyone was. I can't want to come back and try more dishes.

I don't know if you're trying to impress us by not writing our order down, but you lose all of that good will when the order is wrong. Sadly, it happens all of the time. The lunch service is always severely under-staffed. One server for an entire room is a hefty demand for any professional. There is one waitress, and if you've been there, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about, who is mean, rude, doesn't make you feel welcome, and the last time I was there, she almost threw the plates on the table while practically turning the pitcher upside-down so liquid was flying everywhere. She's never to be found when you need assistance, she hangs out behind the bar or in the kitchen for long stretches, and it's a 20 minute wait until you signal you're ready for the check until the check actually arrives. Once she finally takes your card, she will disappear for *another* 20 minutes it seems, and you have to wonder where did she go with my card, is she in the back making rubbings or purchases? I'm joking but not about being unsettled. If she were friendlier, the whole get the check, do you need any boxes, any dessert to go conversation would be one conversation, not 4. I don't know how many times my guest or I will have to walk up to the bar to either get something ourselves or request, can you please take our check? It's a good thing the food is enjoyable.

Since then, Olive + Oak has moved to its current location, which is spacious, airy and filled with light. And somehow, our experience last night was even better than what I remembered. I was having dinner with three friends I used to work with, and Abby, our server, was outstanding from start to finish. I arrived first and had a chance to chat with her before everyone else got there. Her energy and personality immediately stood out, and I knew she was going to be a hit with our group. Hard to believe she has been at Olive + Oak for only six months. She kept taking care of us throughout the evening. She really wanted us to try the grilled carrots, so she brought us an order on the house. Later, one of the managers stopped by with wine glasses and poured us some wine, also compliments of the restaurant. Those unexpected touches made an already great evening even more memorable. With four of us, we were able to explore quite a bit of the menu. We started with the Chicken Wings, Charred Octopus and Lion's Mane Steak. All three were distinctive and delicious. The Fried Green Tomato Salad was enormous, easily enough for all four of us to share, and packed with flavor. We learned it was leaving the menu after that night, so our timing was pretty good. For my entrée, I had the Grilled Flank Steak with crispy Parmesan potatoes, along with a side of Olive + Oak fries. Incredible. The fries were world-class, and Abby even tracked down some barbecue sauce for me to dunk them in. And those Grilled Carrots Abby insisted we try? Wow! Definitely one of the surprises of the night. We finished by sharing two new desserts, the Cloud Cake and Samoa Cookie Cake. Both were super delicious and a great way to end the meal. We ultimately spent more than three hours at Olive + Oak, and never once felt rushed. We were there to reconnect, tell stories and enjoy being together again. Great food certainly mattered, but the warm, attentive service made the evening even better. Eight years was way too long between visits. Olive + Oak remains my favorite St. Louis restaurant.
