It seems the horrendous bartender is still there. During my last and final visit here in early 2024 he: 1. Talked constantly about how he only dates underage girls 2. Ignored customers to keep talking to his pals 3. Discussed every woman who left the bar loudly and incredibly crudely with his pals 4. As I was leaving, screamed "bye, you fat f*cking b*tch." And I left him a good tip because he made me a decent drink. 5. The owners need to be sued for enabling a hostile environment. Came to the neighborhood bar to watch the bearcats game...with my 6 week old. They were happy to have us, turned them game on and let us sit in the back room by ourselves. It was perfect. Great service, plenty of space and hot cheese curds! Draft beer selection was ok and bathrooms weren't ultra pleasant, also no changing table but I get it as we probably shouldn't have had our baby in a bar. But it was mid day soooo anyway. Great food. Highly recommend the French Burger. The two kitchen staff will make you an incredible feed. The two bar staff on at the time (not Rodney), however, give less than zero fucks. I waited over half an hour for a first beer. We were never voluntarily checked on. It was not unlike pulling teeth to get another drink. Always had to call someone over in frustration. The girl who took care of the other end of the bar (there were a total of 9 people all-up in attendance) was always on her phone, and the guy on our half of the bar spent most of his time with one group, shooting the shit and taking shots. In the 3hrs I was there, he definitely drank far more than I did. When it came time to tab out, that was an ordeal that took about forty minutes. He did admit he forgot about it. C'mon! There were only NINE people sitting at the bar. Real shame. Food was great. I get it that hospitality staff are hard to come by right now but.... FIRE your bartenders. They didn't give a shit and it's definitely hurting your business. read more

My fiancé and I have been to this bar a handful of times, and each time we were met with awful service from the same RUDE bartender that others have mentioned in previous reviews. How has the owner not addressed this??!! Why does the owner continue to let this bartender ridicule customers and provide awful customer service time and time again???? Not to mention, the cocktails are subpar, food is subpar, and the staff filters the touch tunes music so much to only what they want to hear. We wanted to like this bar sooo bad after recently moving to this area, but there are so many other BETTER establishments out there. We will not be returning and we will be providing our service to other bars in the area instead. read more

It's a nice little pub. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. Come here for the cheap drink or dinner specials, which are a good deal, or if you're in the neighborhood. Loud music, conversation was a little strained. 3.5 stars This is a cute little neighborhood bar with good food and a decent beer menu. I discovered Floyd's when it became the destination for a meal and drink before a show at Gorilla Tango Theater due to its proximity. Over the years, my friends and I have returned made it routine to hit Floyd's before a trip to Gorilla Tango. Floyd's food menu, decent beer menu, reasonable prices, and laid back vibe keep me coming back. It had been some time since my last visit and I was a bit disappointed to see the menu had changed; in particular I missed this really yummy seared tuna sandwich I used to order. I also noticed that the Cuban my friend used to order seems to have vanished too. This visit I went with the tuna melt and subbed a cup of roasted tomato soup as my side. My meal was fine, but really nothing special. I felt like the tuna melt was a bit skimpy, it was definitely lacking in the tuna salad area. The soup was also average and erred on the bland side. I wasn't unhappy with my meal, I just found it a letdown compared to some prior dining experiences. The place is small and fills up fast, although never seems uncomfortably crowded. There are a handful of tables and bar seating. They add a few outdoor tables when the weather's nice. If you're looking for a place to grab a drink and have a meaningful chat, I wouldn't recommend Foyd's; it gets really loud, mostly due to the volume of the music. Would I come back to Floyd's? Definitely, even if I wasn't headed to a performance down the street. Would I go out of my way to make it a destination? Probably not. read more

Great little neighborhood bar! Not sure why people on Yelp have called it a "dive bar" cuz it isn't (trust me . . .I've been to plenty of those!) just a nice neighborhood bar with plenty of interesting patrons! Located on the corner of Armitage and Oakley, Floyd's Pub is the perfect place to grab a drink or dinner before heading down the street to the Gorilla Tango theater which is just what brought me to Floyd's the other night. While the inside has a nice sized bar to cozy up to, or plenty of tables is that's your thing- we chose to sit outside on this beautiful day and enjoy some of the great weather that make up a Chicago Summer! Rachel, our server, (and bartender extraordinaire as she seemed to be the only one working while we were here!) was quick to run outside and get our drink and food orders. The drinks were good- well poured- and the food, while bar food like salads, nachos and burgers . . . . .the food was actually pretty good. Yes, I sound surprised as I wasn't expecting that. The other thing is this place "aims to please". We asked to turn up the volume on the TV so we could watch the Belmont Stakes and we were graciously accommodated . . .of course maybe that's because a horse race is over and done with pretty quickly! The drinks and food were well priced and if you drive you can probably find street parking easily. The blue line Western stop is just a few steps away as well. I had the tastiest cider here that's not available in Texas, so for that alone they get extra points! Also, it's a bar with food, so double extra points! Galavanting through this neighborhood after a heavy brunch, we wanted to post up and catch a bit of the A&M/Bama game. Early on a Saturday afternoon, this place was practically empty, with plenty of room to belly up and settle in. There are about 3-4 televisions scattered throughout, and they were willing to play different games for the few people that had preferences. They didn't scoff at the fact that my boyfriend was only drinking water and we were taking up space at the bar, which I appreciated. This is a dive bar without good food or drinks. They have a good cocktail list but they are not good. They are not good. They do not taste like the drinks we ordered. The service outside of the bartenders are great but there are many better places to go in Chicago. Also...only played songs that we were allowed to because the bar filtered them. This is a cute neighborhood bar, decked out in Christmas lights and garlands even in late January. There's a cocktail list on a chalkboard, a full bar, and beer. The "Pilgrim's Punch," made with vodka, rye, ginger, cinnamon, and lemon is a five star homemade punch. It's the type of drink that, when they're out, they're out - I saw it in a glass jug on top of the bar. The Pimm's Cup is on point. Don't order wine here - it isn't a wine bar. So don't complain that the Prosecco sucks because, duh, this isn't a wine bar. Servers are friendly, and bartenders know what they're doing. We hung out here for awhile, so we eventually ordered some food. It's standard bar food here, but the mozzarella sticks and tots were enough to satisfy our appetites. The boyfriend and I really love this place! Kind of kicking ourselves for not coming earlier as we moved into the area almost a year ago. The food is great! And priced just right! Everything we have tried has been delicious - fish and chips, burgers, pulled pork, chicken sandwiches, steak sandwich, wings, even the chips and salsa are amazing (hot and homemade). There service is friendly and on it. Definitely a chill local place. They also have a good beer menu with a cocktail list. This has become are new go to spot for dinner and drinks! Been to this decent bar a few times but the bartender last night was a prick. There were 3 of his friends sitting at the bar when my 6 buds and I walked in. We ordered drinks and the bartender told us his name was Jose. We went to the back to play darts and put a few songs on the juke box. Dude turns a song off we played cuz he he said we weren't allowed to play shitty music and then just stopped the jukebox all together when we had a que going. First world problem I know but he was a jerk about it. We're the only ones in here other than your buddies and it just made the whole thing awkward. I just moved to the neighborhood and was looking for a regular go-to spot. I've been here a total of two times. The first time, the service was alright. The bartender did hang with her friends at the end of the bar for a lot of the time, but I get that it's a neighborhood bar, so I wasn't upset. She also seemed friendly enough. The second time I went was probably the worst experience I've ever had at a bar. The waitress was super rude and snooty to us. She scoffed at my friends beer request and then treated us like disabled children when we asked about the bill. Her and a coworker kept giving us dirty looks while talking to each other (Note: we were far from being drunk, loud, or rude. Her attitude was uncalled for). We left as they were closing and hung out side on the sidewalk having some decent conversation and deciding what to do next. They closed up shop and left. The owner then gets in his tuck and pulls up to us, gets out of his tuck, and yells "I OWN THIS BAR! GET THE F*CK OFF MY PROPERTY!" We were on the side walk, which is public. We were not talking loudly, being mean, or even touching his building. He threatened to call the cops, and when we told him too, he drove off. For the next 30 minutes, he drove around the block stalking us. He would drive a few blocks down and slow down to stare at us. We must have seen him pass us at least 10 times. It was super creepy and we felt a bit harassed at that point so we left. I'd like to note that I live in the neighborhood and am officially scared to encounter this psychotic owner again. He was out of line, full of rage, and lost a lot of customers and regulars that I've discuss this story with. TLDR: The owner of this bar is nuts and most of the wait staff think they are elitists. Don't support this local bar, go to a place where your business is appreciated. read more

Floyd's looks such a great place from the outside. The exterior paneling, patio tables, celtic-inspired decor, $6-dinner specials, fun menu, and $2 PBR are enticing. But I was really unhappy with the one experience I had here, and it was all due to the waitress. A bunch of us girls had gone out for a friend's birthday and this was going to be our first stop to try the menu and see if maybe Floyd's was the neighborhood pub we were seeking. The girl who was waiting on us was outer limits. She was wearing flip flops, didn't wash her hands, wasn't wearing any kind of apron and so had food and drink splashes on her, her hair was everywhere (including my drink) and she was really inattentive to us. She preferred to spend her time flirting and hanging on a group of guys a few tables down. I watched her down a shot, lick her fingers, and then pop lemon wedges in someone's drink. I ordered a martini and had to send it back because it was a completely different drink from what I had ordered. She got huffy like I'd made a personal affront to her. It took about ten minutes for her to get back to me with the correct drink. Having been a waitress myself, I know when a server is having a bad day or dealing with a bad crowd or manager, and I know when she is just a lousy server. This girl was just a lousy server and when my tip reflected that, she actually went to her boss and complained about it. Still, I give Floyd's two stars and will give it another chance. I like the menu, I dug the crowd, and if the girl is still working there, maybe she has learned a few things in the several months since my first visit. read more

What a bunch of ASSHOLES! we put money into the digital jukebox and i cannot remember what song it was that we chose but the second it came on they canceled it. WHAT THE FUCK! thats bullshit. so i went up to a group of bartenders/waitresses/cooks, who ever they were behind the bar and said that it was bullshit that we put our money in to here music and they shut it off because they don't like that song and that i wanted my money back. well one guy jumped to the cash register and took out 5 bucks and slapped in my hand and said here. they gave me money but they're still a bunch of assholes. the first time i went there the bartender was the drunkest person there and was hitting on every girl in front of him. and even though i was sitting next to my boyfriend the whole time, the second he got up to use the bathroom that same bartender came over to me and started hitting on me. then he got into a fight with someone there and that guy got thrown out. not sure who's fault that was but what kinda bartender gets so wasted that he can barely take an order and gets into fights with the patrons. I only ordered two drinks so it shouldn't have been hard to straighten out, but the bartender was a total bitch about it. She refused to take them off my tab, despite the other server confirming I only ordered two drinks. When I tried to reason with her, she said "you aren't going to tip me anyways" and walked away. Blah place, bad management = why waste your money here? Went here with a group of friends, sort of your typical neighborhood bar. Few days later, looked at my bank statement and saw that I was charged three times rather than once. I shrug and think, "Eh, I'll just tell them what happened." Every place makes mistakes. Multiple times, I've become a loyal customer to companies solely based on their stellar handling of a mistake. I go into the bar and ask nicely to speak to the manager. The server turns to the manager/owner who is sitting at the bar next to us. This guy is hammered. In an easy-going way, I explain the situation and pull out my bank statement which shows the three debits. The server says: Yeah, I remember this. 'So and so' was processing it and said she messed it up." Manager/owner(?) looks immensely bored and dismissively states/slurs that I need to call the credit card company. I heard nothing like: "I know it's going to be a pain for you to spend the 45 minutes on the phone managing this, and I realize that you already went out of your way to come over here to try to handle it. We really appreciate our customers, so I'm very sorry for your inconvenience over our mistake." Rather, I hear the equivalent to: "Sucks for you. Now let me get back to my beer." Fail. If you're going to have a run of the mill kind of place you should at least live up to the neighborhood dive expectation of good customer service. Off the top of my head, I can name ten places that offer up same kind of atmosphere, food, and beer but don't treat their customers like inconsequential assholes. I live just down the block from this place. It's nothing special. Definitely not my neighborhood hangout for a couple reasons: 1. Food is terrible. The goofs on here who say they like the food must have been raised by goats & eaten garbage growing up. It's tough to screw up bar food, but Floyd's manages to do it with ease. Burgers are dry, even ordered medium rare. I think they just ask "how do you want it" as a mere formality. The three times I've eaten here (never again mind you) the fries were brown and stale. They're too lazy to cook new ones every hour so they just serve you what's been sitting in the fryer all day. 2. Which brings me to the staff. You work in a freaking bar. Spare us the attitude... seriously. I know you're only doing this cause your parents cut you off, and/or you flunked out of college, but come on! it's not that difficult to serve people beer within a couple moments when the bar is empty. That's maybe the only good thing about Floyd's... it doesn't get too crowded. read more

Guac was bland and chips came fried and dripping with grease. Couldn't eat them. When I asked if I could just have some regular chips, the bartender said "We don't have any" so for nine bucks I got a lump of bland guacamole.....was not offered discount or substitution. Had to go in here for a change of scenery from the Cleo's/Map Room stronghold. The drinks were strong but not vomit-like, and the moderate amount of beers they have something for everyone. They have a small but respectable selection of beer to choose from. I tried a few new ones...all delicious. I've come here a few times and it's never too packed that you can't find a place to sit down. The music sometimes gets really loud, usually around the time they are closing. Maybe that's their clever way of annoying you to death so that you leave by 2. If you're still sitting there by 2, a guy will walk up and down the bar tapping you on the back every 5 seconds, saying "TIME TA GO!" Pretty standard behavior for a bar, but for some reason, this guy was just really obnoxious. Sit up at the bar for prime entertainment. Everyone who works here is out of their minds. read more

Seriously, as I just clicked "Write A Review," my stomach growled. I love their burgers...and they come on a pretzel roll, which is awesome for this German girl. They have a great selection of drinks--beer, wine, alcohol. And the staff is always nice. I would say, though, sometimes they may not be the quickest in service. This place is truly laid back. In the Spring/Summer, they have a small patio with about 3 tables. It's nice to sit there, but the Armitage Ave traffic that gets stuck right outside sometimes is not the best sight. How to be a good neighbourhood Chicago tavern: 1. Have a special for each day of the week; usually, fish and chips on Friday and meatloaf on some other day. 2. Have drink specials everyday. 3. Allow people to bring their kids in until 9pmish or so. 4. Play songs NOT on KISS-FM. Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley are gold standards. Keep music at a manageable level so people can still chat -- after all, that's the point of a bar, isn't it? To meet your friends and enjoy each other's company? 5. Have attentive wait staff who take time out to chat with you and refill dishes of treats and water for pets. 6. Have barkeeps who know how to carry on an interesting conversation. 7. Have an interesting selection of beer on tap, particularly microbrews from all over. 8. Have enough TVs for Cubs and other sports viewing. 9. Have a cozy, homely ambience that even people who come in with a paper or a book will feel comfortable sipping and enjoying time off by themselves. 10. Represent your neighbourhood. Floyd's, you have met all of the above requirements, and you are a bona fide Chicago neighbourhood tavern. Can I stray from my neighbourhood and visit you often?
