We tried it earlier this week. The restaurant was empty and the sever took 10 minutes to take our order...she was busy talking to the manager. My wife and I got omlettes arrived with liquid on the plate. They were salty and were not tasty. The biscuit was ok but they only provided apple butter. I had asked the server for water and she never brought it. The sever never checked to see if we needed anything or the food was good. The server dropped off the check and I told her we had two coupons to use. She said they were updating their computer and could not take the computer. She then said she would have to talk to her manager to see what to do, but her tone made it clear she was not going to check. She then said we could use the coupons on our next visit. I emailed the restaurant and corporate to let them know our experience and they did not reply. I would NOT eat at any flying biscuit restaurants! read more

I was so excited to see it coming to Knoxville... major disappointment the menu doesn't highlight what makes the biscuit the biscuit... they don't even have the love cakes... I politely asked about that.... Service was pretty good and all the staff seem to be pleasant. The French toast is super sugary just plain. The beignets were a huge let down. They should call them hush puppies because that is what they are and oily ones at that! Nashville hot chicken wrap was okay but nothing to write home about. Would really go about 2.5 stars read more

Well, if you like overpowering herbs in everything, this is your place. Chicken gravy tastes like lumpy warm milk and had the hardest biscuit I've ever seen. Pretty bad really. I have eaten at this franchise in Atlanta and Charleston area so I was familiar with the menu. I ordered the Hi Flyin bfast w scrambled eggs and bacon. Both were good but the standout were the grits!! I rarely eat grits anywhere but in Charleston, but these were done just right. Creamy and perfect texture! The pancake was the weakest part. Seemed to be undercooked though perfectly golden in color. Our server was attentive and corrected my friends choice of Hangover Hash. Chix tenders were missing and fries were substituted for the diced potatoes. I'll go back and hopefully it will all be great. Very colorful interior. Came in for breakfast around 9:30 am. Heard good things about the Flying biscuit. Ordered the cream cheese stuffed French toast. It looked good with a slight drizzle of raspberry sauce and 2 strawberrys on the side. The taste was good but the stuffed part was a mere thin coating like mayo.Eggs were, well eggs, ok. I hade a side of potatoes that I wasn't able to eat due to the over coverage of sage and spices. My wife got an omlet and didn't eat it all again because of the overpowering sage sausage. The biscuit we're good size but lacking in over all good taste. The gravy was consistency of oatmeal with an over powering flavor of sage. All this was over priced as well. Having been fans and patrons of the OG Flying Biscuit back in our Atlanta days, we were excited to see a Knoxville location. Knowing it was risky to visit in the early days after opening, we decided to have brunch there (on a Monday at 11:30) to check it out. The restaurant was probably 30% full. We chose to sit outside on their patio to try to avoid the "little too loud" music. No luck. The music was blaring outdoors, too. Our waiter came by shortly and took our orders, and it was delivered fairly quickly by another employee. An employee promptly replaced one incorrect item. However, one entrée was lukewarm at best, the room-temperature biscuits were "meh," and overall, we weren't impressed. The server did offer to replace the cold entree, but we didn't want to prolong the experience. Service began well, but we waited a bit to get the bill and have our table cleared. This could have been a 3-star review except when the bill came, I noticed a 4% "non-cash adjustment" to use a credit card. I realize that retailers and restaurants have to pay a fee to take credit cards, but geez, add it to the cost of the goods or service! This will definitely keep me from patronizing this place again. I will start by saying our server, Joleen, was amazing and did her best to make the experience better. However, the overall experience was horrible. We were there 3.5 hours. Our food started off with "Parmesan Truffle Fries" with absolutely 0 truffle. Our appetizers and meal got to the table before our bottle of champagne & a bottled Coors Light (55 mins later). Finally, our "bottle service" mimosas came out with a side of dirty glasses. I'm talking orange juice still in the bottom of the glass. Our group completely finished our meals before our last friend got his food. Not to mention there is an automatic 25% tip added on (which Joleen deserved) but between the missing food, dirty glasses, and drinks after the food there should have been some sort of compensation. read more

Been here three times since opening and I usually wait to review so I can try some different dishes. All three meals were average at best. Smoked salmon and eggs, the eggs were over scrambled and beat into bb size clusters. Smoked salmon Benedict, of the three meals I had here this was the only one that was better than average. The biscuit which this place is supposed to be known for was fairly decent in size and texture and the poached egg was done far better than the scrambled eggs from the previous visit. Third visit was the breakfast burger. For $14 it was the most overpriced tiny burger. Two small strips of fried bacon, a fried egg and what I would call barely a quarter pound burger, dry no sauce of any kind, on a very small Kroger size bun. The $16 Balter burger across town is worth every penny and a much more gourmet style 2/3 lb burger with thick bacon and thick Tillamook cheddar on a large toasted brioche style bun. The Parmesan truffle fries that did come with the burger were very crispy and tasty though. Service has been either good or very good, all three times sitting at the bar. First server/ bartender was Chase. He was very personable and outgoing, and made the underwhelming salmon and eggs less of an issue. The $8 mimosa is just like anywhere else, overpriced for what you get but that's almost any place in Knox minus a few spots that still do the $2-5 mimosa. (It's just cheap champagne restaurant owners we aren't paying $8 ) The owner also introduced himself to us. Very nice guy so no complaints about staff or service. This place will continue to stay very busy and have long wait times due to being one of the only brunch spots in the area but for my money, I'll keep going to Balter, copper cellar etc or stay in on a Sunday as there's nothing I've had here food wise that is even close to what I cook at home. read more

Visited yesterday, and there were good and bad parts about the visit. Food would average out at 4 stars (5 for taste and 3 for portion size) Service and management would be more of a 2. We had a larger party on a Sunday so we expected to wait. However, they seemed to be understaffed because several tables were empty. When we got seated it was about 10 minutes before our server came by and then it was pretty much on par for that the rest of the meal. Water refills were not given for 10 minutes even when asked for, one item did not come out and came when everyone was basically done with their food, and then it took 10 minutes to get the check. All in all we were there for 2 hours:-/ I can't help but think the poor service comes as a result of a mandatory 25% tip for parties of 6 or more. (18% is industry standard with room for more if exceptional service) there was also a 4% credit card fee. Atmosphere: 2-3 loud crowded room, but the booths looked nice. Chairs and tables slide around on the floor because of the surface. Not much of a waiting area. Probably won't return with other options that don't have some of those fees or service issues. read more

We loved it, but wish there was a "join the waitlist" for the place. It's a hike for us ( almost an hour) but we don't want to head over there and have to wait another hour to get in.
