we had the most WONDERFUL dining experience last evening and wish to share it with you so that you can pass it on to your staff. We saw your advertisement in Newsday and called to make reservations for 4. The ferry ride was wonderful and when we arrived we were shocked beyond belief to see how organized everything was. Our waiter Anthony, was extremely attentive as were the bus boys. The food, and selection, was phenomenal!! From the baked clams right through all the courses and then the decadent desserts to follow!!!! As we walked back to the ferry close to 10:30, the manager had to run to catch up with us, and he requested if by chance we had left a visor behind. indeed i had and i would have been terribly upset the next day when i realized my absentmindedness. while dining we actually had discussed the dedication this manager had to making everything perfect. he was directing the staff accordingly and we all admitted he ran a smooth ship!!! i would appreciate your passing on my appreciation to this gentleman. we have already spread the word and believe several of our acquaintances are preparing to experience the same delightful evening as we did. This place was terrible. Went for lunch and they didn't have fish and chips on the menu. Server asked the chef if I could have it being it's on the main menu. I was told definitely not. 5 minutes later the table next to me gets Fish and Chips... very disappointed. The crispy shrimp tacos are breaded with buffalo sauce and disgusting! It was a beautiful sunset, the setting is hard to beat. The venue is impressive, big garage doors make inside outside in fine weather. Outside there were flies so we went inside where our drunk fellow diner wanted to tell us how much she hates Obama and loves the Pope - apparently these things are proportional. But insects and drunks are all part of the charm of Fire Island. What let's Flynn's down is the food. Boring, bland, over priced. Good place to get drinks/get drunks. Came over for the ferry ride to Flynn's for $45 seafood buffet. Food seems cooked yesterday, tasteless, shrimp frozen and tasteless, only one fish choice. Clams were delicious. Wait staff took forever for bringing drink order and desert. Our bus person however was very helpful and friendly. waitress just over-worked. Came here tonight because my brother in law rave about this place. I was totally disappointed with the quality of the food and service. There was not much of a selection on the buffet. They had a big platter of cheeses, pasta and mussel salad. Corn on the cob, rice, chicken, BBQ ribs, tilapia, shrimp cocktail, prime rib and streamed lobster. They only give you half a lobster and then they ran out because they were not expecting the crowd they got. It took forever to get a beverage and bread to the table. I would never come here again. Started out here on the last night of a bachelorette party on Fire Island (Ocean Bay Park). Wish we had come in for their happy hour specials that run from 5pm-7pm. They pretty much have specials running every day of the week. I loved that they had a bar out on the deck! I did not love that they only took cash. had the best time! the music was ON POINT. however what pissed me off was on TWO different occasions i bought drinks and the ignorant bartenders did not return my change. first drinks $19, gave a $20 and didn't get my dollar back. next drink $7 gave a 10 got nothing back. when i asked the bartender if for my $3 he pulled it out of the tip bucket. After getting lost in fire island, walking fives miles and found this place, I just wanted to bow down and praise God. The food was surprisingly very good and the view was good. The service was attentive, the facility was clean, and the price was right so I'm a satisfied customer. I am familiar with having restaurants in a tourist area overcharging me for everything but the price was definitely reasonable here. Try the calamari and portobello mushroom sandwich. read more

The boat ride on MoonChaser was fun, but at the restaurant the loud music drowned out our conversation. Our friends ordered from the menu and had to wait at least 40 minutes for pasta. That's simple to make. It shouldn't take so long. read more

We had a fantastic seafood dinner with a gorgeous Long island summer sunset backdrop. The manager Lou was very accommodating. What a relaxed evening. We did not take the special surf and turf buffet but it looked terrific. The area was lively walking back to the water taxi to take us back to The Pines. When we arrived, nothing really was open (in August) and it looked peaceful but desolate. It was a great excursion to another Fire Island community. It's not always about The Pines. read more

The lobster bisque was absolutely horrid. People have complained about it on recent reviews, and I'm not sure if management even cares about changing the way they serve the dish. It's an embarrassment that they are serving non-fresh seafood being on waterfront property on an island. read more

Sunday reggae on the beach = a good time! King Wellington is a great band and hearing the music with the scenery of the ocean is awesome!

I feel bad saying this but this place was just not good. My friends and I were craving lobster rolls and summer cocktails and heard this place was fun so we headed over on our visit to fire island. We started with the baked clams which were honestly so bad and so dense. They tasted like thanksgiving stuffing leftovers (and I mean like week old leftovers) and were definitely not like the Italian baked clams we were craving. Then there was the lobster rolls. So so awful omg. $26 for the smallest lobster roll I've ever seen. Shredded lobster salad with a weird after taste (doused in so much chipotle mayo sauce prob to hide the taste further) on bread that literally tasted like it had been frozen the entire winter and thawed out for summer. It had that gross freezer taste. It was beyond disappointing especially since it was so overpriced. I could've gotten a gourmet lobster roll in Manhattan for way less than that. The cocktails were delicious but not strong at all. And he service was so slow it was crazy considering there were maybe 4 other tables of people. Maybe. Definitely won't be coming back to eat here. read more

best spot in ocean bay park and a great place to hang at all times

Went on the ferry from Cap Tree which was supposed to take 40 minutes but instead took an hour so they could have more time to collect bar money from all the 40 somethings that were there to get wasted. Also told to come half hour before ferry was supposed to leave, again so they could collect bar money. Ferry didn't leave until 7:10 so we were not able to meet up with family until 8:15 after they had been there waiting for us since we were told dinner starts at 7:30.. Funny how the ferry was able to make it back in 40 minutes though. Food was OK but not worth the price. I would rather have gone to a nice sit down dinner and had a 2 lb lobster for the same price or less. Never again. read more

Although I enjoyed the atmosphere and most of the staff, one male bartender in particular was quite rude and condescending. Not only was his attitude egregious, but after asking for tap water at the bar, which is required by law at an establishment providing alcohol, I was told that he was not able to do that. He told me that there were water stations for that purpose, but I had gone to those first and they were either empty or there were no cups. He continued to argue with me for several minutes stating that he did not care to take 2 seconds to fill a cup with water from the same spout he was filling other cups with of soda. Not only is it appalling that it took me over an hour to obtain drinking water, which I finally received AT THE SAME BAR from a female bartender, but he had served my friends water only moments earlier (after they fought with him for awhile as well). It leaves me to believe that he was discriminating against me and that he only fills drink requests that bring him money. Wish I knew his name, but after our interaction, I did not wish to speak to this man again simply to find out his name. Wish I could give this place more stars as I otherwise enjoyed my time there, but I cannot due to the lack of empathy and straight disrespect from one of their staff members. You're better off going into the restaurant and spending money on food just to get a glass of water. Seriously disappointing. read more

Wow wow wow ! This place is great ! So much fun. On the water great music ! We had dinner the shrimp tempura and the house salad were delicious. You have to stay for Sunday dance party and have a rocket fuel. This place is easy to get to I took the ferry from bay shore and walked two blocks to Flynns. I liked Flynns much better then the teenny bopper land of ocean beach. read more

My husband and I recently took the Moonchaser party boat out of captree to Flynns for their buffet dinner special. We were very disappointed. The restaurant was very nice and the wait staff was very friendly but the food was horrible for the money we paid.salads were disappointing ,baked clams were pasty, chicken with rice was bland. Lobster was ok. The only tasty items were ribs and roast beef.when it was time to leave the boat had us waiting on a narrow dock for about 20 minutes, at that point it was very windy and getting cold. A good place to dock your boat with excellent/experienced dockmasters to help out if needed. Do not eat at the restaurant. There was a burger, 3 salads and 3 sandwiches on the menu. When you're touting your seafood and you're in the area of some of the best seafood on the east coast, why serve Restaurant Depot buffet food? When you ask if the fish is fresh I think people assume you're asking if it's not spoiled. Fresh fish means freshly caught, freshly cleaned and cooked, not prepackaged, pre-breaded, pre-frozen junk. And the prices are horrible for this stuff. They use the excuse that the prices are so high because they have to ship it all in by ferry. While that's true, I also use the freight ferry when I vacation there. It costs me $3 to ship my case of beer on the freight ferry. That's a hair over .10 cents a bottle. Yet they charge pretty much double the going rate. A 6 pack runs $17. The place is nice if you want to look out on the water, but save your money and your stomach. read more

My husband and I took the Moonchaser last night..It was a beautiful cool September night so it really does make it hard to not have a good time. We have done the Flynns Dinner Cruise many many times in the past and always had the Lobster buffet. I also used to stay at Flynns on my boat back in the day.. I now have a lobster allergy (makes me so sad!!!) and we decided not to order the buffet. I saw on Facebook that Flynns had a Friday night pasta special...I guess it was off season..and it was pasta and a side salad for $ 20..and $ 5 draft beer and house wine. I showed the Facebook post to my server and at first, I was told they aren't offering it.... I asked for a manager..and he was so very nice and came over and offered us a few different pasta options. We had linguini with clam sauce that was so much better than I expected..really good!!! Not just sauce, but actual clams on top. I don't know if I would do the seafood buffet, but last night was a really nice experience...Flynns is such beautiful spot and its so quiet on a Friday night in September. I would definitely recommend it to get in a last minute Summer night. read more

Went to Flynn's for their all you can eat Seafood Buffet..We took the Ferry from the Captree Boat Basin. Even though they said they board at 6:30pm don't believe it. We were there with other diners on time and had to wait in the rain because the crew didn't have a cash box to take our money..Off to a wet start..Once at Flynn's we were ushered to our table..Our waitress grabbed 2 plates of salad that were sitting on a tray stand and put them on our table. Would have been nice to be able to go up to the buffet and get some cold salad..The salads were obviously made way in advance of our arrival and left in the dining room since the salad was warm. The actual buffet was located as far away from the dining room as possible..My guess is this is to deter or slow down the number of visits one makes...So if you have any mobility issues this is of concern...All the food appears to have been made prior to our boat arrival....Everything was luke warm..The baked clams (in my opinion) were WAY to over seasoned with thyme and oregano..I asked the cook if he had tasted them he said no...My suggestion was he should try one... All the food is rationed out by the cooks..You are only allowed 1/2 of a 1lb lobster at a time, the lobsters appeared to have been sitting a while.The picture in the ad shows whole lobsters, it should show half lobsters. The imitation butter was congealed in plastic cups since the were not under the heat lamp,,1/2 of a 1lb lobster is not much.The long walk from the distant buffet is not worth the 2 min to eat that overcooked half a lobster and then walk back and repeat over and over...When asked why you can't have another half of lobster I was told the have to make sure every on gets some....WHAT ? Its an all you can eat buffet..Surely they must expect people to eat at least 1 or 2 one pound lobsters..The prime rib was a bit fatty and luke warm..It was also rationed by the cooks...No more than 2 pieces god forbid..The peel and eat shrimp was good along with the corn..But didn't spend 28 dollars and a 2 hour boat ride for corn and peel and eat shrimp..There were mussels in some kind of dressing...I didn't try them based on info from someone on line in front of me...Dessert was..well disappointing.a slice of. Ice cream roll with syrup and some cookies..If you really want to try this here is my suggestion.....1) Go there and when you get there go out of your way a truly inspect the buffet CLOSELY and ask questions on portions...If you don't want the buffet there is a regular menu available.. They don't tell you this ..I found out later..Had i known this i would have gone for the dinner menu.. Bon Appetite read more
