Stopped in for lunch today after hearing from friends that this was a good local BBQ joint. We wanted to be mindful of our portions so we shared a meal. We ordered the Pit Plate with the pulled pork, ribs, and brisket; and complimented it with fries and a side of Brunswick stew (see pic). There was plenty of food for two and the side house salad can easily serve 4. The stew was thick and full of flavor. It contained the right amount of all ingredients so that every profile was represented. The fries were also good but the star of the plate was the ribs. They had a beautiful, tangy crust and the meat was so tender it was falling off the bones. The brisket and pork were also very tender and moist. We loved the sauces but honestly, the meat didn't even need them, hallmark of good BBQ. This place is well worth the visit! read more

This is an awesome BBQ joint off the beaten path a little in a traditional old- fashioned setting. I love to drive up and park on gravel for a change. Even the all around southern ambiance of this establishment let's you know you are in for a special taste buds surprise. The sides: I chose collard greens and three cheese macaroni and cheese sides and was not disappointed as both are very tasteful. Meat: i got the brisket plate after it being recommended by my server and she was correct as it was amazing. Both the traditional and sweet sauce were great. Dessert: Can you go wrong with Banana Pudding? They sure can't as it was delicious. I wished it was heated up a little and warm but cold was good. Overall, 5 Star rating and I will be back! We came in around 7pm and had a pretty large takeout order, we ordered the pulled pork and chicken. We also had the brisket and the fried ribs. I've never had fried ribs until today, delicious and the creamy orange sauce the brisket was delicious, everything was delicious. The service and staff were friendly and attentive and provided us with plenty of sauces and utensils. Thanks Yelp for recommending this place! It's rare that I'm ever in Loganville so when I researched a good BBQ joint for lunch, I was glad to find this hidden gem. I say hidden because it's not necessary visible from the road and it is a humble, log cabin type building set upon a back gravel road and parking lot. The staff is quick and friendly and their menu boasts all of my favorite BBQ sides like fries, mac n cheese and baked beans. I tried the brisket platter and it did not disappoint! The meat had a wonderful texture; it wasn't too dry and was a generous mix of both the fattier and leaner brisket pieces. I loved the sauces they provided at the table and combined the sweet and spicy blends. If ever I'm in Loganville again, I'll be sure to stop by. read more

I stopped by for lunch a month or so back after they reopened from COVID. The brisket was moist and flavorful, and the ribs were delicious as well. The service was great as well, and the staff did a good job keeping the lunch parties far apart. Last time I visited about six months back this was a "good" bbq joint. THE SCENE I am a sucker for a great business name. So when I discovered there was a BBQ joint named Foggy Bottom, I was already starting the engine to my car without ever having read one review! I mean seriously, am I the only one who's imagination conjures up some sort of back-woods secret shack cooking up some illegally delicious hog when hearing that name? I imagined a place so good that you need a password to get in! A place that maybe even manufactured their own moonshine in the basement. Side note: I don't know why I wanted that in the story... I don't drink. Yes, this was the story I was hoping for when I asked the manager on duty what was behind the naming of this place. I further envisioned she might add to it by saying: "For generations the BBQ recipes have been in the family, closely guarded by the senior matriarchs and only made once a year for family events because it was just too dang delicious to prepare more than that." A story that somehow involved a grandmother who said after a very fulfilling meal: "Wheeee - U, that was so good it will make your bottom foggy!" Sadly, this is how my mind works and truly thee story I was hoping for behind the name. But alas, I was simply told it was the name created by the owner for BBQ competitions. Camelia red beans with andouille sausage, ham and a mix of Cajun ingredients. Thank you Mama J! - Verdict: This was the only item we sampled that I did not enjoy. I was not expecting them to be so smoky in flavor. I requested they be replaced with the awesome baked beans instead. I'll try them again on my next visit. SWEET TEA (4.5 stars) THE AMBIANCE/SERVICE Everything you want a BBQ joint to be: A shack-looking building set in a woodsy location with a screened porch that sported rocking chairs and a cornhole game! Inside there are old wood floors and wood paneled walls blanketed with pictures of the owner on various vacations. There was also your not-so-typical BBQ art. While you'll find some random pig art pieces and bathrooms labeled "outhouses" (NOTE: SO COOL), there is also a room with walls full of farm tools... and a solo twig of cotton. At the front entrance are what appear to be surf boards marking a few BBQ victories. Also in plain view are subtle references to Louisiana, such as a painting of Café Du Monde and a Fleur-de-lis. Service was friendly and southern sweet like their tea. FINAL THOUGHTS I personally believe Foggy Bottom should have a competition for the best backstory to their name and award the winner a glorious all you can eat meal! Went on Saturday afternoon. 1st time.Busy when we first got there, but the crowd cleared. We had read reviews ; fairly accurate . Some said place was expensive , but I didn't think 13 for a plate was to bad, Total bill with tip was about 40. My wife and I had 2 plates of pork bbq + side order of bowl of stew. BBQ comes without sauce. There is 4 flavors of sauce on table so you put as little or much as you want, I chose their original + vinegar sauce and my wife liked the Carolina sauce. We had a total of 5 sides. In order of favorites from most to least: fried okra, potato salad, red beans with meat,Mac and cheese, and stew. We were in the mood for BBQ and did a Yelp search for restaurants in the Gwinnett area and decided on Foggy Bottom after seeing the good reviews. And now I can add mine to the list. It is really good BBQ and has really good service to match. It's a little bit back from the main road so look out for the roadside sign right by their driveway. The interior can probably be described as southern kitschy with plank walls and checkered tablecloths. There's a screened patio area up front. We started with the pork skins ($4.50) which literally came out popping. They are served with a spicy dipping sauce but it's really not necessary. They're good on their own and are topped with the house rub. Although my husband did use the sauce later at home on something totally different and loved it. Our main dishes were the 1/2 smoked chicken ($12) and the pit master plate ($21) which comes with your choice of 3 separate meats. And hubby said the tea was sweetened properly so I know it was SWEET. The only weak spot was the dessert. They only have one (banana pudding - $3.50) and neither of us were a fan. No worries. Foggy Bottom is our go-to for bbq since the location is convenient to us. It is tucked back from the main road a little, but you should be able to find it no problem! The lot is large and un-painted so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot. We have been many times. My husband loves to order the pork rinds, with a side of white vinegar to dip them into. He learned this trick at another restaurant we frequent that serves pork rinds- apparently this is a Polynesian thing to do! . I don't eat pork so I let my husband enjoy them all to himself. I have had their turkey, chicken, and brisket and enjoy them. Their smoked wings are phenomenal. I definitely recommend them. I have had their house salad before and thought it was not the best, it is a very plain garden salad. I would love if they offered a smoked chicken salad. My favorite thing to order is actually the burger- go figure, right? It's delicious! I also like their spicy ranch (very mild in my opinion, spice fearers should be okay with it) and their sides are on point. We have had some of their desserts as well; they typically always have banana pudding and something else that rotates. I will just say that I like my own banana pudding recipe better but I may be biased :P Service is always friendly and attentive. They have a great crew that operates super smoothly. I had driven past the sign for months, and after reading the Yelp reviews I decided to try it. The positive reviews were definitely true. A nice down home feel with great attentive customer service fitting to set the mood for your food. Which was delicious and plentiful. I had the turkey salad and WOW.......it was great both here and the next day at home! The pulled pork was great with that sweet bbq sauce....mmmmmmm.
