I've been to a few different Brazilian steakhouse restaurants in California, but they didn't open a Fogo de Chao location until recently. However, since I have to travel to Texas for work every few months, I decided to take the opportunity to dine at one of the locations there since I've heard the food is better. I actually ended up coming for a big group dinner for work, and we made reservations ahead of time and got a prix fixe menu and a semi private room, which was really nice. I tried:
-Appetizers: Fried Polenta & Pao de Queijo (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fogo-de-ch%C3%A3o-brazilian-steakhouse-addison-3?select=hhHy1V0RSeQX_VSGZAQqEg#hhHy1V0RSeQX_VSGZAQqEg): The fried polenta was just so-so, but their Pao de Queijo is best I've had out of all the Brazilian steakhouses. It was cheesy but chewy, and light as air- delicious!
-Salad Plate w/Kale & Salami (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fogo-de-ch%C3%A3o-brazilian-steakhouse-addison-3?select=VkkbMGyhxfa8oZfvIQfkAQ#VkkbMGyhxfa8oZfvIQfkAQ): The hearts of palm were my favorite item, and you definitely have to try these here if you haven't had them before- they are delicious! They have a subtle sweet taste, and are super tender. The kale salad was ok, and the rest of the stuff I would pass on.
-Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Caramelized Plantains (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fogo-de-ch%C3%A3o-brazilian-steakhouse-addison-3?select=hhHy1V0RSeQX_VSGZAQqEg#pDZbAlr50VMl54Jwu2_cOA): I didn't like the garlic mashed potatoes so would skip that, but the caramelized plantains were good (although not as good as other places).
-Salad & Different Grilled Meats (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fogo-de-ch%C3%A3o-brazilian-steakhouse-addison-3?select=hhHy1V0RSeQX_VSGZAQqEg#6i3JuKrDoDFkWF-2iWmrow): The picanha was still my favorite type of meat, and it was juicy and flavorful here. The other meats that were good were the Cordeiro/Lamb Chop and the Costela/Beef Ribs. The Beef Ancho/Rib Eye, Alcatra/Top Sirloin, and Costelo de Porco/Pork Ribs, weren't bad, and I would debate about getting a piece of those again. I tried a small bite of basically everything else, but they were either on the dry side, too salty, or both.
-Grilled Pineapple w/Cinnamon (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fogo-de-ch%C3%A3o-brazilian-steakhouse-addison-3?select=hhHy1V0RSeQX_VSGZAQqEg#S97FgUQt8VQSnuNntsTwew): Not very good. We had to pre-order this ahead of time, and I was disappointed when it arrived at the table since it didn't look caramelized at all. The pineapple was very sour, and I didn't like the cinnamon sprinkled on it- Skip!
-Tres Leches Cake (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fogo-de-ch%C3%A3o-brazilian-steakhouse-addison-3?select=hhHy1V0RSeQX_VSGZAQqEg#1aK3xa5l1J6YPnN_G2Xyvg): Pretty good! I actually didn't eat that much during my meal and had some room for dessert. Their version of tres leches was a little on the sweet side, but the cake was nice and moist, and I liked the whipped cream frosting.
-Fogo de Chão Signature Papaya Cream: I tried a bite of my coworker's, and this was really good! It was nice and creamy, and had really good papaya flavor. I would order this again.
-Turtle Cheesecake: I also tried a bite of this, and it was DENSE- a true cheesecake. It was too sweet for me, but a good choice for cheesecake lovers.
Service was excellent here, and they really took care of our table. I loved that you can pre-pay for the meal when you make the reservation, so they just give you the bill to sign at the end of the meal. Overall, the food was very good here, and I would definitely come back in the future if I was in the mood for a Brazilian steakhouse. Parking isn't bad here since they have a huge lot, but it may not be the closest spot. read more
