Food was so good. Fried Mushrooms, Tater Tots were so delicious We didn't have any drinks. But next time we definitely will. Staff was so nice and so attentive.

My favorite was the inside out chicken pot pie. You can really taste how homemade it was! Also loved the chicken fried steak with gravy! Whoever what stole the show was the Parmesan truffle onion rings! The ranch with the onion rings SMACKS!

First time visit and I was ready to go back two days later. The chicken fried steak , mashed potatoes and green beans were all very good . They also had some Tex Mex options that we may try next time . If you like specialty cocktails , they have a good selection. Not overly priced . It's new so the service seems to still be getting worked out or I would give it 5 stars .

I really enjoyed the American cuisine here--great food and a nice atmosphere overall…read more I ordered the French onion soup and the Reuben eggrolls. The French onion soup seems to be popular here, and as soon as I saw that buttery-looking pastry puff baked on top, I knew I had to order it! It was definitely hearty, with plenty of onions (which I love). However, it was a bit saltier than I prefer. I do wish there were an option to substitute the onion soup with a chowder, like clam or corn chowder. The Reuben eggrolls were surprisingly good! I'm used to traditional Asian eggrolls, so I really liked this creative twist. The house-smoked pastrami, sauerkraut, and melted Gruyère cheese worked so well together. They tasted amazing with the spicy Russian dipping sauce (which I appreciated wasn't too spicy). It was such a flavorful and memorable dish! I'm glad I gave it a try.

I am a burger person, and I was VERY excited to try this restaurant. I took a couple of bites and put it in the bag. We are currently on our way to another burger spot. She also took one bite and put it back in the bag. The burger tasted funny- the beef. I don't know. Something was "off" - not like old meat off, but the burger to us just wasn't good. The fries, we ate all of those! 3.8/5. I like battered fries. We were going to try the chopped cheese after this, at least to not be hungry, but we decided against it since it would be the same thing we just had, just chopped up. My friend got a brownie. She didn't like it either. She did mention it was gluten-free. She took one bite and put it back in the bag. Sad to say, we won't be revisiting.

At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about either the food or the service. This was an amazing dining experience, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

It's definitely different than sitting in the bar section in very small tables and booths next to the bar. I would never choose to sit in the tables in the bar area. Unfortunately, as our luck would have it, whenever we select the standard seating, we tend to be sat in the small bar tables. This time I asked them to move us. They accommodated us (there were two large booths available in the main area), but the attitude was not great in doing so. The bar seating issue is enough to make me think about whether I want to go there again. Our server, Madison, was great. She was helpful, friendly, communicated well, and let us set the pace. Started with cocktails, which was an interesting experience, because the bar had some difficulties and so each of four drinks was brought out one at a time with a few minutes in between each. Not a huge deal but weird. Enjoyed a couple of wedge salads, which were nice. For entrées, one couple shared the flat iron steak, which they both enjoyed. The crabcake and fillet special was very good. The fried pork rustica was excellent. It's a lot of pork, but I would recommend it.
