There used to be a time I used to accompany my co workers to lunch there. Here is the list of my honest observations: 1. Courteous waiters but overwhelmed on most/all occasions even if the restuarant isn't full to capacity. 2. Every time I went there, the order of at least one of our party got messed up. 3. Usually is very slow. 4. The food is nothing special. I liked their fried rice, but everything else is usually either too oily or over-seasoned. Needless to say, I don't go back there anymore. I came here because they had shanghai dumplings. I asked about it and they said it was not soupy inside and would take 18 mins because they were not made in house aka frozen. Shanghai dumplings are soup dumplings why would you put it on your menu if it wasn't soupy inside? Other than that their Mongolian beef was good. read more

Well, the reviews are pretty mixed about this restaurant, but I have to say it's one of my favorites. I've been twice now - once for a special birthday dinner - and found the staff to be courteous, attentive and charming. The chef stopped by before we left to see how things were - and they were excellent. They even brought the birthday "girl" a complimentary dessert! The food is very good (lemon chicken & mushroom-water chestnut -other veggies dish), no MSG and less fat, and VERY tasty. The presentation is charming. The atmosphere is excellent - small enough to be cozy and large enough not to be cramped. I agree with another reviewer that the music is a bit overbearing and not conducive to the otherwise very peaceful dining experience. But I could easily overlook it because everything else is so good! It's my new favorite restaurant - Asian or not. read more

Potstickers were very doughy, forgot about our lunch soups, while other tables got theirs,server behind the counter on the phone, had to remind them regarding the soups.Some of wives orange chicken meat was crunchy, not the batter, the chicken. Been here twice. The food is excellent but the customer service needs to improve. They took their time to greet and seat us when there were few tables available.Then they forgot to place napkins, silverware & water. We had to ask for each and everything! Been coming to this restaurant for fifteen years and for the last year have been noticing the quality of food going down little by little although overall has good flavor and seasoning, portions of food generous. This was my first time coming here. I've had it bookmarked for a while, but I'm rarely on this side of town. I went pretty late ~2ish, so the lunch crowd was long gone. I was seated quickly and decided to get the king pao chicken (off of the lunch menu). I got my food relatively quickly and it was delicious. The chicken was actually big chunks of white meat chicken versus some of the bits of chicken you get at other places. The lunch portion was huge and the soup that came along was also very delicious. First and foremost , I called to make sure they had honey walnut shrimp and they do. The guy who answered had a very welcoming voice , so I decided to give it a try . They restaurant is elegant , the setting my is nice and they also have an outside area to dine in . They serve orange infused water , which is very refreshing. You receive soup or salad with your meal . Today's soup was hot and sour , it was really good and comforting . Also a little spicy , not to spicy . My family and I have been here 3 times, and I am happy to say that this is my new favorite Chinese food place. The ingredients have a lot of flavor and taste! The have their menu broken up by the type of meat in each dish, and they have a Vegetarian Section of the menu. Every dish that we have had was full of flavor! We had a very friendly and social waiter named Raven. Not only did he recommend delicious items, he was very charismatic and joyous. He made our meal an experience. The restaurant is very class, with white table cloths and nice decorations. The waiters were all properly dressed in black, and the men wore button-up shirts. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Folsom but the quality of both their food and service is almost nonexistent. I ordered takeout and when I got home ( less than 10 mins) I was disgusted at what I had discovered. The food was absolutely putrid and the owners refused to give me a refund even though I brought back the entire order, which I did not eat out of because of the spoiled smell which was so bad it made me gag. When I confronted the owners they not only harassed me, yelled at me, and even called the police then refused to let me leave. The male owner (wearing red) physically blocked me from leaving despite the female owner (wearing black) screamed at me, called me a liar despite my loyalty to them over the years, and even aggressively charged at me before other employees intervened. Needless to say I will never go back and to those considering I highly recommend you scratch this off your list. read more

We enjoy Chinese food. However , our meal recently at Folsom Palace was a disaster except for a good bowl of war wonton soup. Snow peas and chicken overpowered by garlic and black, slimy mushrooms. Even worse, CRISPY noodle dish floating in a strong sauce. After finally locating ONE crispy noodle, we left the remainder of the dish. Server never returned to our table even tho restaurant not busy. When waitress finally brought our bill, I told her about the sopping noodles. Her exact comment: "you should have sauce ordered on side next time when you come back." At $48 for tea, soup and 2 inedible dishes, we do not plan to return. I ordered a tofu dish, it came out burnt, literally. Which made the dish taste bitter. So I told the waiter. He took it back to the cook, and the cook came out. He told me, "because the wok is very hot, sometimes the tofu will burn". Then he just walked away. Terrible experience. Won't be back. read more

Got delivery for 5 items. On the website said free delivery over 30 dollars. When driver showed up charged us extra for delivery brought us no utensils, napkins or plates with delivery. We went to Folsom Palace for the first time this past Sunday night. First impression was great - small and cozy, and all of the tables were covered with white linen tablecloths, looked crisp and clean. We ordered the Szechuan beef, Almond Chicken, Pork Fried rice and Chicken Chow Mein. I was NOT that thrilled when my beloved ordered the Almond chicken - a dish I normally find bland (I was planning on sharing his!) However, all of the dishes were REALLY good. The Szechuan beef had a red pepper next to it on the menu, indicating that it was spicy, and there were red chilis in the dish, but it wasn't hot at all. The Almond chicken was a total surprise - not the usual chopped celery, chicken and almonds, but big chunks of veggies and chicken and accented with nuts - best Almond chicken I have ever had. Same with the the Szechuan beef - big pieces of fresh veggies. I loved it all! Huge portions, served family style at night. I definitely would go again, and as a bonus, the waitress (maybe owner?) was nice and the water was flavored with lemon and served in crystal glassware. Try it out! read more

Fancy Chinese. Sat down, glanced at menu. Confirmed there are no combo plates. Debated paying $50 eh no, decided to just go somewhere else. Paid for $6 beer and left. The place is clean and pretty and they have a wine list. But my issue was u have to order per item. So sweet n sour pork $12, fried rice$10, chowmein $10, hot and sour soup $9 that's 42.00 and way too much food. Yes that's left overs but I really didn't want more than just one meal. We have found a new place to go when we get our Asian cravin'. We were not expecting white tablecloths or folded cloth napkins or classical music in the background. The whole ambience was very upscale and very relaxing. The dinnerware was very nice and I liked the red plates and fancy apple garnishes on the food platters. The main attraction is the food. All our dishes had flavor. The Chinese would say, "Ho may", meaning, good flavor. The worst thing a Chinese person can say about a dish is that it had " no flavor". What can I say? The food is excellent, especially the Basil Chicken, and their Brown Fried Rice with Chicken. They pride themselves on serving fresh ingredients, and no msg. We were on our way home from a road trip and stopped in here with no idea what to expect. Chinese food can be really hit or miss on if it's good. This one was great! Everything tasted really clean, not stodgy and greasy like some places. The decor was pretty, the ceiling lanterns were fascinating for my four year old. We had the chicken salad and chicken with veggies. The salad was so good with delicious crispy chicken and I'd love to know what was in that creamy dressing! My husband really enjoyed his chicken with veggies too. It was large portions which we ended up having two meals from. The only reason they didn't get five stars was the potstickers we ordered for my son. The wrappers were so thick and doughy. The interior was good, but i wouldn't order them again unless they improve the doughy issue.
