We have been dining at the Folsom Palace probably once per month for many years. The food is excellent and the menu extensive. We love the honey walnut shrimp and moo shu vegetables. The inside decor is pleasing with fresh tablecloths at all times and the service always pleasant. Jenny is one of the owners, and when she is there, she always comes by to chat with us. This is the best of the Chinese restaurants in the area and comparable to Fats in quality. read more

As far as prices are concerned and because they are new, do you suggest that they only increase their prices once they have been in business longer? What does being new have to do with what they charge? It's about quality, not quantity. If you want cheaper food, stick to top ramen or Hop Sing Palace. We travel 45 minutes to eat here. The chef really puts his heart into each dish. My favorite dish is the sea bass. All the soups are phenomenal. I would recommend when ordering the calamari for an appetizer, ask your server for the salt and pepper calamari. My wife and I have tried several items on the menu and each one has been great. Every dish is plated perfectly and all ingredients are fresh. The servers are friendly and are very knowledgeable of the menu. My only complaint is that we do not live closer. read more

It's hard to find good vegetarian red curry with tofu and this place hit it head on. One of the best red curries I've had and not too expensive either. Their pot stickers were also amazing, went on a Friday night and the service was great and speedy. Refined atmosphere, flavorful fresh food, outstanding service without a hint of attitude - and they had several vegan choices for us. Folsom finally has a great Chinese restaurant. You could find a place that might be a dollar or two per entree cheaper in town but you also get stale, tired atmosphere, service and fare. Folsom Palace is a breath of fresh air. Wow would be my first word when I see this place! I felt like I was in a setting where it was fancy but at the same time, it was filled with Asian art at every corner! We ordered sweet and sour chicken which had the balance of sweet and sour at the same time! Usually this dish would be generally sweet but the one we ordered here was filled with flavor and was very savory! We also ordered pork fried rice which is one of the popular dishes! Coming from Round table Pizza in the same strip mall as this place, we decide it was going to be the target of our next lunch outing. When we first walked in, we noticed the décor is a little on the upscale side. Linen table cloth. linen napkins, wine glasses for water glasses, I was starting to wonder if I was a little under dressed.... LOL !! This place has great food and lots of choices. The lunch menu is huge and includes both soup and salad for $8-$10. The entree and rice/chow mein are served separately, and you put them on your plate as you like them. The spicy "twice-cooked pork" is probably the best thing I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is "white linen" and is less casual than most places, which is a nice option. Also has a nice covered patio for outdoor dining. Fresh. Flavorful. Consistent! Folsom Palace has been a great choice when I'm in the mood for Chinese! They've been consistent every time we order out! We ordered sizzling rice soup, pork iron skillet, chicken fried rice and General Tso's chicken. Probably too much food for two people but then again it's also great to have a variety. The chicken was my absolute favorite, perfectly sweet and sour. I wanted to keep eating it even after I was stuffed it was so good! The pork iron skillet turned out to be my hubby's favorite. Perfectly seasoned pork, can't beat that. It was awesomely tender and accompanied by a lot of delicious veggies. The sizzling rice soup was a meal in itself, crispy rice and snow peas with chicken, Bok choy, onions, carrots, shrimp and probably a few other veggies I can't even remember because I was too busy shoveling in all that goodness into my mouth! We have ordered the fried rice before. It's always been consistent and super tasty! Last thing you ever want at the end of a long day when you just want a good meal is being let down. Folsom Palace is definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in Folsom. The entrees are fresh and portions are massive. The service and quality is not only fantastic but also consistent! Simply the best Asian cuisine experience in Folsom and surrounding areas. The food was a class above anything else I have tasted in this area. And the service was impeccable. Jenny (or Ginny) took my order and was extremely careful about getting all of the info correct. She also delivered it, since the usual delivery guy was elsewhere. Not only was the food piping hot and amazingly delicious, Jenny (or Ginny) was smiling when I opened the door and was incredibly gracious and thankful for our business. She commented how she was the one who always took my order and was genuinely happy to put a face to my voice. My husband and I are somewhat new to the area and were looking for a new Chinese spot. We ended up at folsom palace and were basically ignored at the front until the guy with the Togo was finished paying. Took 5 minutes for water. Another 10 minutes to take our order. Food came out relatively fast considering there were only 2 tables there. Food was good. A little pricey but it was good. My husband and I woke up this morning and he was throwing up constantly. Got him a same day appt at the doctor (didn't really think anything of the fact we had chinese because I felt fine) doctor said it was food poisoning. We got back in the car and I could feel myself getting sick but I had to tough it out to get him home (he never gets sick and I could tell he felt so so so sick). Anyways, we are both sick now and thankfully the vomiting has stopped. read more

This is simply excellent all around. It is pricier for Chinese Food, but I am the type of person who is willing to pay more for better quality, ESPECIALLY when it comes to my food. The food was excellent (wor won ton soup tasted so fresh and light but complex at the same time, simply delicious, both of my toddlers couldn't stop eating it), and the chow mein is possibly the best I've ever had. Loved the add of red cabbage. We ate Thursday afternoon for lunch, and the service was impeccable. The man (the owner?) was SO sweet and polite, you just don't get that sort of service anymore. And they were constantly checking on our water and always spoke with a smile. I appreciate that type of courtesy when I'm spending my hard-earned money patronizing their establishment. I have been meaning to review this place for a while. We have been to Folsom Palace for dinner several times and it is always a great consistent experience. In terms of ambiance, this place feels like a mini PF Changs. Nice clean decor and the staff is dressed as in somewhat upscale restaurant and is of cosmopolitan nature versus just one ethnic type - i.e. no language issues when discussing any dietary restrictions etc. which is really great. And the staff is great - they come by enough times to check if you need something and so on. And it is not a strict one staff to one table - they share the responsibilities - i.e. they don't leave you stuck waiting for your staff person to show up. Even though it looks upscale, the prices are very reasonable. And even as vegetarians, we find enough dishes - though we have a settled down on a few. Decent food quantity for the price and I like their dishes - hard to stop eating. The food preparation has been consistent - they haven't let me down even one in my several visits. In addition to inside seating, they also have outside seating which is great on somewhat cooler evenings. Overall, a really nice place in Folsom. It is not in a main shopping center or anything - so it is not easy to think about it - but once you discover this place, you will keep coming back. I ordered the potstickers (which tasted great) & didn't want to believe (the first time I ate there) that they were the reason that got me sick.. The sweet and sour soup and small salad with the lunch special was a nice touch, the amount of food for the lunch special was very generous, and the Mongolian Beef I had was off the hook good - the meat was super soft, which is a huge criteria for me with stir fry dishes, and it tasted wonderful as well. We were seated immediately, with pretty prompt service. We ordered the salt and pepper calimari, general tao chicken and shrimp chow mein. I had a Sapporo and the wife had house cab. Our server brought out our drinks immediately! I hate it when I order a beer and they bring me a room temp glass. The beer was cold and so was the glass!! Starting off to a good start. As we were ordering or server told us we were ordering a lot of food, to much for to people unless we wanted to take some home, which we didn't. I thought that was nice of him to tell us that. Just got our food!! OMG, talk about flavor!! It's flavor overload! The salt and pepper calamari is delicious, really taste the salt and pepper. There is also some chopped onions, garlic and cabbage it is served over which is very flaverful in itself! The general chicken is a must spicy but not too spicy, lots of the little red peppers, big chunks if juicy chicken. The chow mein was great as well they use the thicker noodles which I prefer.
