We had dinner at the Forest Café while staying in Klamath. My husband's Bigfoot Burger was very good and the fries are tasty. As the other reviewers mentioned, the décor is weird. Duck butts on the ceiling? I ordered a new menu item, the pasta primavera. Don't get it! It was very bland and had only zucchini, yellow squash and onions, and they were steamed, not roasted, and just tossed in a little olive oil, no cheese or cream sauce. The garlic bread was good! My husband and I stopped at this restaurant on our drive north on Highway 101. The waitress took our order within 10 minutes of arriving and being seated. Long story short, we waited over an hour for our food and no one came to check in on us except once to refill our water. We left after an hour of waiting and we're very upset with the poor service. Went here after Trees of Mystery as it was across the street. After having been there, that is about all it has going for it. We were seated immediately by a distracted hostess, then after ordering food waited almost an hour to get it. After getting the food it was premade patties, overcooked and burnt. We ate there yesterday after doing the Trees of Mystery. We didn't see many (if any) cars out front. That should've been our first clue that something was up. There aren't many places to eat out that way, the one other we remember didn't look that inviting, and we were starving. We walked in and noticed the 'interesting' decor (dried/artificial flowers stuck to the ceiling, the bottom of ducks, and a rowboat on the ceiling- we're supposed to be underwater here). While I get the idea, the ceiling flowers just made me think 'dust' and 'there's gotta be a lot of spiders up there'. It's a big open restaurant with a garden fountain in the middle and a few murals on the walls. They're a family place, they're trying to be fun, but it doesn't come off that well. There was nobody in the big restaurant but a family in the back corner and one other couple. It took a few minutes for the hostess to notice us and seat us. There seemed to be a hostess and 1 waitress. More people were starting to come in. As we were sitting there looking over the menu, someone from the family table shouts "F*ck you! I quit!" and walked out. It seems that the table occupants had something to do with the restaurant (?). It was obviously a tense situation. The guy left and things kind of went back to "normal". We felt really bad for these folks and hoped the guy wasn't going to come in and flip out. We also felt bad for the few young kids in the place. We ordered a burger and a club sandwich, a beer and a soda. Took a long time for the beer and soda to arrive. I asked for a straw. The gal said she'd bring one. I asked again a bit later. Never got one. Okay, no biggie, it's a straw. Our food arrived (took a lonnnng time). Fries were nearly cold. We had asked for ranch and tarter sauce. It didn't come the first 2 times we asked. About 20 minutes later we got it and it was completely soupy. Yeah... think I'll skip the ranch. The waitress and hostess were obviously distracted and overwhelmed. We watched them bring the wrong orders to tables. We watched people get up and look for them to get their check. We asked for our check and a box. They brought our check and no box, and vanished. I would've given them my cc, but they disappeared. A few minutes later, we flagged the gal down and gave her my card and asked for the box again (the couple next to us had also asked for their check). She goes away for 10 minutes, and the other gal comes back with no box and the receipt. "We also asked for a box" - "oh, she didn't tell me", but also no pen to fill out the receipt. Had to ask for a pen. Finally got the box and got out of there. It was a bit frustrating. We just wanted to eat and go. We were there for probably an hour and a half. The food was okay, if a bit cool. Tasted alright, but not great. Prices were ok. After this experience, we looked up reviews for the place. It's VERY CLEAR from the reviews posted (both on Google and Yelp) that the place doesn't have enough wait staff. The staff has even acknowledged this online. The two young girls were doing their best but they were having a tough time keeping up. They both kept their cool, which must've been hard. We also saw the family table get up and pitch in, which was nice, especially after what had happened. These folks are in an obvious tourist-heavy location. WHY wouldn't they make sure they were properly staffed? Granted, this was a weekday, but there were plenty of customers. We saw many of them not getting served. The place could be a gold mine with a full staff and different (not so quirky) decorating. I don't want to rub these folks' faces in it. They were doing the best they could especially after the tense moments at the beginning. But seriously, get some more help, SERVE your customers and keep things moving or people will quit coming. Asked for coffee refill, never came ( except to deliver the meal she never returned after first cup of coffee/ordering). A bit busy it's reasonable to wait a few minutes for what we asked for. Unreasonable for anything that we asked for not arriving at all. The only thing that we asked for and were given was the WiFi password from a waiter from another section of the restaurant. Avoid Eating Here. I remember about 10 years or so ago when the origional restraunt (mysteriously?) burnt down. I ate there once or twice, it wasn't bad, but it is gone, gone, gone. The insurance money must have been pretty good, because the new building is at least 3 times as big, and for the 300 or so times I have passed by I never stopped until yesterday. I had been curious to see the inside, I'd heard it had been decorated in the style of Disney's Rainforest Cafe, and I wanted to see for myself how they did. Well.... They must have spent all the money on the building, some for decor, and none on the staff or the menu. Yes, the tall slanted open ceiling is all covered in fake flowers, and that side of the room is a forest theme with a redwood mural. The 8 foot ceilinged "Underwater" side of the room is like being on the bottom of a pond looking up at the bottom side of ducks, with an underwater mural on the wall. A couple of ducks have lost a leg, and one had bandaids covering the hole. There is a fountain in the room, and the tables are resin coated redwood slabs with oddities like shells and plastic birds encased in cracks and knot holes; that is, where you can see them, as the resin has yellowed and clouded. I think they may have been from before the fire, but I can't recall for certain, maybe they had been spared from the flames because they were in storage that day? Hard to say. Blue Casino carpet on the floor. So the concept was nice, and they did a pretty good job of it. Enough about the decor. The Menu: Sandwiches. No Entree's, Just Sandwiches. Sandwiches with fries so skinny and greasy I have never even imagined such a icky yucky thing. Club Sandwich, Grilled Turkey, Grilled Chicken, French Dip, Grilled 'Cheese'. You pick, $9.95. Ugh. Salad bar : Luttice, 3 bean mix, potato salad, cottage cheese and peaches. That's All. One time through with the smallest bowl I have ever seen, $9.95. Seriously. You could have them make you a salad with some of the lunch meat on it, also $9.95. Soup: Clam Chowder - Home Made (I'll Bet) . Also Chili. We asked about the soup of the day, our waitress said "Tortilla and chicken soup, but I don't recommend it. It hasn't been good for a couple of weeks." I wonder how many more weeks they'll keep it around? $9.95. Good Luck. Various Deep Fried "Appitizers", Onion Rings, Motzarella Sticks, Mushrooms. $6.95. Some Kind of Desert $6.95 . Kids Menu was about the same, about 1/2 the food for about 1/2 the price, - 1/2 a grilled american cheese on white bread, 1/2 a pbj, stuff like that. I overheard a man at another table complaining about the coffee, I couldn't hear everything he said but I did pick up "burnt," "curdled," and "grounds," and then I heard the waitress say something about how it had only been made a couple of hours ago, and she could make another pot if he wanted...He declined. I drank water. So a terrible meal, terrible service, and get this, the reciept comes with a print out of how much you should tip, figured for 15%, 18%, 20%, 22%. Seriously! There were a few families seated and waiting when we came in, but as my time there passed I saw the parents look grumpier and more frustrated, and then really pissed when the bills came. As was I. The salad looked liked they made it a week ago and stuck it in the refrigerator without covering it. The cucumber slices were totally dry all over. The french fries were the size of very small green beans that you cold hardly pierce with a fork and service was, meh... Don't even waste your time trying to connect to their free WiFi - it just keeps swirling. Just pack a picnic lunch. What a perfect location for a place to grab a bite to eat after seeing the amazing trees of mystery! Too bad the owners don't take advantage of this golden opportunity. I ordered the clam chowder, or so it is called on the menu, I would have referred to it as potato soup and even that is giving it a complement. When this small bowl of unappetizing gray slop with very stale crackers was set in front of me i lost me appetite, but my family and I were enjoying our vacation and I didn't want to put a damper on things by complaining. So I ate the two clams and three bits of potato, and two big globs of what I thought were also potatoes, starch( flour) it was, potatoes it was not! Forest cafe you would like me to be done I know, but I have a family of five so I shall go on. When your menu says avocado on a burger Im sure everyone expects avocado, not some pre packaged "avocado" spread! You might be able to put that shit on a juicy tasty burger, but you would rather pay more money for a machine to portion out and freeze what you call a burger, you lazy f***s. Fries cold and soggy, shrimp off and fishy. You would think that with the close proximity to the ocean, you would be able to get fresh seafood! We had a wonderful day and went to this restaurant thinking it will be good, however the food was tasteless and without salt. Pasta that costs over $10 has no salt and is cold! Terrible food, terrible service. I recommend you avoid this place! Upon entering this establishment, the first thing we noticed was the smell, which was our first red flag. It was a mix of industrial chemicals and a taxidermy shop. Yet...we were starving and decided to give it a go anyways. After being seated, it took almost 10 minutes for the waitress to notice us (red flag 2). We were one of 3 total groups in the entire place. When she came to take our order ("what do you want?") she appeared to be annoyed with us for even being there (red flag 3). We ordered hot chocolate for our 3 year old, water for us - it took another 10 minutes for drinks to arrive. The hot chocolate was obviously a cheap package mix with too much water, and was so hot we had to add a bunch of ice, which watered it down even more, so he could drink it. Scalding hot chocolate for a 3 year old??? (red flag 4) When our food arrived, it was overcooked, very greasy and extremely low quality - so much so none of us could stomach even half of what was on our plate. I had the turkey, swiss and tomato, which, after blotting off as much grease as possible, was still not good; our son a toasted cheese with turkey, which he didn't eat be because it tasted' funny'; and my husband the bigfoot burger (or some such thing) with 'avocado sauce'...another yuk! I also ordered a side salad which consisted of iceburg lettuce and a tomato wedge. I had to pick out the spoiled lettuce (about half of the total salad). We were quickly ready to go look for food elsewhere and had to hunt down our waitress for the bill because we hadn't seen her at all since our food arrived. When ordering, I had asked how much the salad was, I was quoted $3.95 and directed to look at separate menu list on the table, which said it was $3.50. When we got the bill, I had been charged $4.75 for the salad. We called the difference a tip and left - we are normally generous tippers, having worked in the food business. That this place remains open, if this is any indicator of their normal method of food service, is unbelievable. They must depend on one time visitors. Ok...I was so skeptical about going here based on all of the negative reviews...but I am so glad we did!! We were sat down immediately. Our drink order was taken and brought to us quickly. We all ordered something different, and it was all great! We had a sampler appetizer and it was delicious. The Indian tacos, pancakes, grilled cheese, chicken strips and shells and cheese is what we ordered and it was all nice and hot when it arrived at our table (in a relatively quick time) and it all tasted amazing! Our waitress was sweet and attentive! Never had to ask for refills. The interior is very clean, bathrooms as well. There is a cute play area for kids to play in, major plus for my family as we have 5 little boys! Highly recommend this restaurant! Don't listen to all of the negative! Give it a try!! read more

I was looking forward to eating here and was extremely disappointed. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one is our hostess got our drinks super fast (the iced tea is brewed and delicious) and her suggestion of the turkey bacon melt didn't disappoint. However, the service was horrible and the food was mediocre. My husband, 4 year old and I were the only people in the restaurant and it took forever for the waitress to take our order. I ordered an appetizer (which never came) and the fries were cold. She dropped off our food and didn't give us a chance to ask about the appetizer or for ranch. We didn't even get a refill of our drinks. We could see the waitress sitting and talking to the other employees. We were STILL the only people there. When we were done she had the audacity to come over and ask how everything was tasting and then say she wasn't ignoring us-she had been working for 5 hours and was tired. What???? Unbelievable. She took forever to bring our bill and didn't even offer us dessert. I was contemplating the cobbler but didn't want to spend another minute or dollar in the place. We have nothing good to say about our experience! The fella who seated us was spacey and completely non emotional. Two of is added extra mula to get soup instead of fries. My clam chowder was tiny and did not resemble clam chowder in any way. It was starched water. My son's chili came 1/2 hour after my chowder! The food came in another 1/2 hour (full hour after ordering). The BLT was simple, the French dip was gross, and my daughters fish and chips were so soggy there were puddles. She felt bad sis nice she splurged to order a more expensive item so ate it before showing me - yep, she was sick the rest of the day on our vacation! We waited almost an hour to get our food, and when they finally brought it to us the waitress was in such a hurry that she had dropped my grandmother in laws meal all over the floor, and when they brought her a new plate the order was wrong. She had asked for onion rings instead of fries, and the waitress said she would make sure she had got them (she never got them). My mother in law had asked for bbq sauce and thousand island dressing (which they said they had) well it took so long that she had to ask another waiter for dressing in which this waiter had told her they do not have thousand island dressing, so she had to settle for ranch, and so when they brought it she asked to make sure it was bbq sauce and the waiter was for sure it was, and it turned out to be ketchup. When they gave us the bill they tried to bill us for the onion rings that we never got and still charged us for one of the meals they had dropped! Wandered into the Forest Cafe after our morning at the Trees of Mystery across the street. We were immediately put off by the strange decor of stuffed animals, aquatic 'themed' room with an underwater perspective, and the odd use of space in the dining room. Somehow, we decided to stay for lunch. Terror set in as we anticipated a horrible meal. I ordered the chili with a side salad, and my husband ordered the Bunyan Burger. To my delight, the chili was delicious! Hearty, full flavored and comforting. The salad was simply ice burg lettuce with a few veggies and stale shredded cheese. I could have passed on that. My husband's burger wasn't AWFUL, however it was dry and not very well seasoned. Make sure to ask for it cooked medium or medium-rare. Probably won't be coming back. But if you find yourself here, try to avoid making eye contact with the bad carpet and plastic ducks, and go straight for the chili :) read more

The mystery is: "Where is the seasoning?" The food was bland, but serviceable. I got the shrimp scampi and would recommend passing on it. Even though the shrimp were literally sitting in butter, they were flavorless. Another person I was dining with got salmon that was likewise flavorless. The clam chowder was also not very notable. Another person I dined with got the "California Chicken" sandwich and said it was fine. Perhaps it is more of a burgers and sandwiches type place. Their fries are just crinkle cut fries, but they did come out warm and crispy. I did enjoy their biscuits too, which came out warm and had a little bit of a cheddar flavor to them. Let's be honest, the reason to go to this place is not the food, and you know it going into it. It's to sit down at a restaurant in the silly tourist trap. The best part about this place was the decor. Half of the restaurant was decorated as a forest and the other half had an "underwater" theme. (There were duck feet and bottoms coming out from the top of the ceiling)! If you need a place to eat, this place will do, but you get what you expect. read more

He got a salad and I got clam chowder. The soup and salad and kids meals were finally served around 30 minutes after initially ordering to kids meals. My hubby's ranch dressing was mostly mayo. My clam chowder was from a can. I think they added butter to the soup. You could see all the butter in the soup. The cheese burgers were disgusting, had no flavor. My hubby had terrible heartburn. The waitress came back when my hubby was done with his gross burger and pointed to his burger basket asking if she could take his basket. I said ok and she took my 1 year olds uneaten spaghetti (actually they ran out of spaghetti and served us penne and didn't say anything until they gave it to us), and my 4 year olds basket of chicken strips that he wasn't done with. My son was very sad his food was gone. It took forever to finally get a check and to pay. It was severely overpriced. My wife and I got married in mystery trees across the street. We had our reception here. We booked the restaurant months prior our wedding. We did the booking over the phone with Debbie and was very simple. Our reception dinner was such a great experience. Debbie helped us decorate to our liking. The staff was super helpful and professional. The food was excellent and we had vegetarian options as well. Very pleased with our experience and pricing was just right. read more
