I will be conservative at this time on the rating. For years the personal internment care has been disgraceful to family plots not to mention our service men and women buried in your care. Headstones nearly covered in grasses and weeds. I visit regularly and the holidays are a special time to visit loved ones. I was so pleased to see the work that has been done on clearing the overgrowth covering markers in the section in front of the mausoleum. The markers stand tall now needing to shine. Please continue to clear all markers throughout the cemetery so all can shine and not every family of loved ones can come and do the work that is part of the care you sell. read more

It is unfortunate that at a time when a family is most vulnerable Forest Lawn chooses to provide shoddy customer service. My dad's service back in 2004 was completely different than the experience Forest Lawn Cypress provided for my mom's service in September 2021. Yusely was our memorial counselor and was unreachable by phone after our first call. She chose to simply email back with answers that did not align to our family wishes. To be clear, she never returned one of my calls--ever. Raul was the only person who went out of his way to help. In fact, it came to the point where I only wanted to deal with Raul because he seemed to be the only one who had an ounce of respect for what families go through when they've lost a loved one. I waited to do this review because I wanted to see if Forst Lawn Cypress would redeem itself because it had one final requirement: To let the family know when the memorial tablet was placed. I was told it would be 16 weeks, and that we would receive a letter. I called today because it's been a little over 16 weeks. I was told by Sandra that the tablet was placed on 11/15/21. When I told her that I was not informed, her answer was that a letter was sent from Glendale back in November. She took no personal responsibility for this even though Glendale and Forest Lawn Cypress are part of the same corporation. What a way to shift responsibility. Our family's experience with Forest Lawn has been quite disappointing with just a few employees (Raul, florist, and the gentlemen who oversaw the actual memorial service) who showed compassion and support during this difficult time. read more

On April 20, 2020 my dad was laid to rest on this Cemetery. I would like to thank Carlos Velasquez for helping me organize my dad funeral even we have this social distancing regulations and pandemic restriction but my family was content with the service even though the viewing is 1 hr but it's all worth it. Carlos is very professional and well mannered and he never complain for my calls coz this is my first time to handle a burial and it's for my loving father and I wanted special so he made that happen to me and my families. Thank you Carlos for ur patience even I was annoying at times for calling you for simple things. So whoever plan to put their love one to rest on this Cemetery, Carlos is the person to ask. When my Uncle died, and later, my maternal Grandmother, both of their services were held here. The funeral home is very tidy, and the staff is very kind. During my Grandmother's viewing, a lady from the staff sat and talked with my Mom for a good long while. The Cemetery is very serene, and has very nice artwork (the Ascension Mural, as well as in the Ascension Gardens, as well as inside the crypts), if you care to walk around the cemetery. The holiday decorations policy isn't all that strictly enforced. They supposedly don't allow large, or excessive decorations during Christmas time, but, I often see full size Christmas trees with candy cane stakes with garland strung around the graves. My only other issue is that there is no posted schedule of lawn maintenance. If we knew what days which sections would get mowed, I would show up the day before to remove any decorations from the grave of my Grandmother. Other than that, like I said, the Cemetery is very serene, and on a nice day, one can sometimes see bluebirds flittering through the grass, as well as the occasional squirrel, and periodically, birds of prey soaring above, and then perching in the trees. read more

My dad Zachariah was laid to rest on 6/5/2020 at Forest Lawn in Cypress. Eyvon was so mean and rude to our family and friends. His communication to us was very disrespectful and he had an arrogance I couldn't comprehend. He even told us let his team finish their job since they have more people to bury. We were at a safe distant but he still kept asking us to move further almost close to the curb. I have never seen such kind of insensitivity especially when your saying your final goodbyes to someone that was so dear to you. We were there grieving our dad and that did not matter to him. He wasn't caring, patient or respectful...he instead added to our grief. This was not how we anticipated to give our dad his final send off. I am truly hurt, upset and disappointed by the service we got from Forest Lawn. Our grief and pain didn't matter to Forest Lawn. SO SAD! read more

This cemetery was recommended by my pastor. My parents and I went to to seek information and prices for burial of my loved one (my daughter-greatly missed). We wanted a cemetery where we can have everything all in one and ForestLawn, Cypress CA catered to all those needs. Travis Riner, representative who assisted us was very professional and fulfilled everything off our checklist & the prices for there packages were very reasonable. My mom and I buried my dad here early in the year and ever since then, we've experienced nothing but constant disrespect, discrimination against our religion, and poor customer service. We are Christian and at my dads grave I had a cross stuck into one of the flower pot for decorations and he is maintenance workers went out of their way to remove the cross because they "said it was easter decoration" when a CROSS IS FOR CHRISTIANITY. I was here a few years ago for a coworkers funeral and we could barely walk to the grave because of all the flower towers that people placed all over the spaces and this time we were there again for another burial and it looks like the place was cleaned up! The crews that work outside have done a great job making this place look as good as it does! Thank you to the person who was with us during the entire funeral and the team who came in to put our loved one in the ground and close the grave, you all did a great job! This is my 2nd time with Forest Lawn in almost 11 years. I couldn't be happier with the quality of service from the Cypress Forest Lawn location.... Through this tragic time in my life I have been grateful to have my mother and now my sister at Forest Lawn in Long Beach Forest Lawn. During this incredibly difficult time, my aunt and I went to the Long Beach location on 9/1/19 where my mom was buried 11 years ago. I wanted my sister, at the time had passed away the day before, be buried at the same Forest Lawn. As a Jewish family we have time restraints that must be followed for the rules in our culture. Once at LB Forest Lawn we were asked to meet with a counselor at the Cypress location. We had a phone appointment but preferred to meet with him in person. Christopher from LB Forest Lawn arranged it very well and we headed to Cypress. Jeb was already at the front desk waiting for my aunt and I. He was very organized and patient. He made sure I understood everything and didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all. I was overwhelmed with emotion, anxiety, and stress. His calm and welcoming demeanor made the process easier despite how painful it was. I had to make some tough decisions as everything was on my shoulders as the younger sister it was incredibly hard. I didn't feel alone in this process and Jeb consistently reassured me every step of the way. At the end of what thought to be a never ending meeting because I was so in shock of the tragic and unexpected loss of my sister, all paperwork was completed and questions answered. My sister's ceremony, details, and everything was planned before I left. Jeb was courteous to follow up with making sure someone would contact me that day once my sister was transported from the hospital to the mortuary and I received the phone call twice later that day with confirmation. Nothing could make me feel better but I felt taken care of and my voice was heard and valued by Jeb and every one at the forest lawn in Cypress and Long Beach. It makes a big difference when you feel that you matter in these incredibly difficult situations where you feel helpless and alone in. The funeral was that Wednesday, it would have been earlier but due to the Labor Day holiday and state law for receiving a permit from the city didn't allow it. Jeb made sure that we'd get the next available time slot due to our religion. The ceremony was crypt side and happened to take place during what felt to be the hottest morning ever, and not only was this taken place in the shade but Forest Lawn provided waters, plenty of chairs, and employees to guide our guests. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The ceremony went as well as one could go. Jeb followed up with us the day after and I felt that I was in the best hands possible. He continued to remind me I wasn't alone and he'd provide resources to help my father and I as needed. My father had approached me the day after the funeral and stated he wanted to reserve a crypt next to my sister. In shock, I called Jeb and he could tell I was trembling with anxiety and made the decision to reserve it and to call him back within 30 days at my convenience as this was again overwhelming. He checked on once and I wasn't ready to move forward. On 9/29/19 I met with Jeb. I was escorted to a room upstairs that was filled with waters, coffee, and sweet treats. Three months from that day is my wedding, in one week would be my birthday, I decided to eat the cookies. I felt he would make sure my hand was held through this process as I was preparing for my dads death, as he is still very much alive. I am sitting there feeling like I am doing what felt to be the third hardest paperwork I could be doing. I've buried my mother, now my sister, and preparing for my father. I was in so much pain and Jeb made sure I understood all the paperwork and followed up with answering questions I wasn't prepared to even ask. It's moments like this how can you imagine someone doing this job or wanting too? It truly takes a special kind of person with ultimate understanding, knowing exactly what to say and how to state it, as anything and everything can be taken so negatively. I can't express how much I appreciate Jeb's kindness and warmth towards me. I feel that he genuinely cares about my family and me and made us feel important when nothing else has. Forest Lawn Long Beach and Cypress really took care of me during the hardest process one must go through to make sure their loved ones are well taken care of. There is no easy way to go about these things but with Jeb he was able to make sure I didn't feel alone and can always rely on him knowing I will be well taken care of. read more

We held the viewing and service for my brother here a few weeks ago. Everyone was beyond accommodating and had our best interest at heart. My only constructive feedback is that they need to ensure the rooms where the viewings are held are clean. There was food on the floor and dust on everything in our room. In any case, overall I appreciate the kindness and care they showed my family during this shitty time. A parent should not have to bury their child. My husband and I were shocked and devastated. Our daughter, MiMi, passed on 8/5, she could not be revived. She was only 54. My son searched and spoke to, I think, every funeral home in a 50 mile radius of our home in Huntington Beach, CA. He made our appointment with Forest Lawn in Cypress. From the moment we arrived we were met with the utmost consideration and genuine sympathy for our loss. My grandmother passed away on August 5, 2020 at the wonderful age of 93. She was a joy in life and now is rejoicing in eternity with Jesus. She passed in Kingman, Arizona and Forest Lawn was instrumental in getting her back here to California for her burial. They handled all the arrangements for travel, pick up, and prepping for her viewing. She had her viewing and burial on September 15, 2020. Due to Covid and travel time, the burial had to be delayed to September. Regardless, the entire team at Forest Lawn Cypress, from Jeb Price, who was contact from the beginning, to Alex, assisted during the service and Father Edward that officiated, made sure all was in place, and service went flawlessly. I can't thank them all for their efficiency, impeccable communication and continued support throughout this whole process. Covid did put a damper on what we could do but FL was there every step of the way. So thank you Jeb, Alex, and Father Edward. I've never thought of reviewing a Cemetery before, but, considering the excellent service received, during an insanely stressful time, I decided I should share my experience. Funerals are expensive, and something you want done right, so, you need to find a place that you are comfortable with, and you trust. This is NOT something you want to have any negative feelings about or regrets over, because your loved one will be there forever... and you, your friends and family will be spending time visiting your late loved one there. The first thing I was impressed with was the fact that Forest Lawn has a 24/7 LIVE PERSON phone line. I called at 3am, to hear what I assumed would be recorded information, but I got a real person. I called this line a few times during the process with dumb questions, which no one ever made me feel dumb about asking. I made an appointment to meet with a "Memorial Counselor", who turned out to be Jeffrey Rice. We met with him before our terminally ill loved one passed, and he was sooooo patient and friendly. We felt really comfortable with him. I prefer email communication, so that's how we communicated. I think we exchanged like 50 emails during the entire process, because I had so many inquiries and I wanted everything to be perfect. I am so specific about what I want, and very detail-oriented, which may have driven some places crazy. However, our amazing guy Jeff, and everyone at Forest Lawn Cypress, had no issue with my constant questions and requests. When my loved one passed, most things were already in place, thanks to Jeff, and the lovely Gina Rachner in the Florist Shop, which made it easier. I was dealing with some traumatic stuff, to say the least, so, having the people at Forest Lawn Cypress be so kind, responsive and easy to deal with, was so important. I never had to worry about anything to do with the Service. And, I knew if there was any sort of problem or snafu, I was dealing with capable, caring people who could take care of the situation. The Service was beautiful and perfect. It was everything I could have hoped for. On the day of the Service, Armando and Misael were there early to help me set up special things I wanted displayed, and they remained there until we all left, helping me pack up my car, and simply being nice. Even our aforementioned Memorial Counselor, Jeff, attended the Service, because we wanted him to. It was super sweet of him to do that. It meant a lot to us. Jeff, and Forest Lawn in general, have kept in touch with us after the Memorial, and offered grief counseling and anything else we might need. I wanted to add that Forest Lawn Cypress (and probably all Forest Lawns) offer a Flower Placement Service. This means you can have flowers placed at your loved one's grave on dates you select throughout the year. I picked out colors and themes and dates for flowers, for a year in advance. After a year, they will contact me to see if I want to continue, or change anything up. After a months-long experience dealing closely with Forest Lawn Cypress, during an unpleasant time in my life, I have to say they never faltered even in my darkest, most confused moments. read more

We had a pretty unique situation. My husband's mother passed as a result of Huntington's disease in 1976, when he was 13. She was cremated, and her ashes were left unclaimed by her callous family (they had thrown all 3 of her children into foster care at this point, and didn't involve them in any memorials or funeral services). She had been stored at Forest Lawn since that time, 40 years in the crypt for the unclaimed. My husband spent 35 years searching for her until finally, we got hold of her death certificate and found her at Forest Lawn Cypress. We called, and the entire team went above and beyond to help us bring her home (especially Jazmine in Records and Mari, our Counselor). Just a pure joy from start to finish, and I really got the sense that they cared about our family, not our money. Frankly, after 40 years, there isn't much money to be made. But we got the same kind of service I would expect if Gail had passed yesterday, just caring and gentle and perfect. When we came to pick her up, they set up a little space for us to be with her and process the whole experience, no pressure, just space and time. And we needed that. I appreciate that they knew that. Even after we got his mother home, they've been very responsive and caring about our unique issues in properly interring the "Cremains" (I hate that term). Our experiences with Forest Lawn Cypress make me quite confident in saying that we will be making arrangements for our own future needs with Forest Lawn. I work for the Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce. We had our State of the City event last month and the Forest Lawn Flower Shop in Cypress made all of the center pieces. When they came in with the flowers we were all blown away! They were absolutely beautiful! We couldn't have asked for more! Attendees at the event commented on how pretty the centerpieces looked and a few people even asked if they were real, they were THAT perfect! The staff at the flower shop, especially Jaide, Suzy, and Angie are always happy to help us and are so nice and easy to work with. Let me begin by stating that for the past 2 years since my father died in 2014, I have not run into a problem until this past year. Horrible customer service, not empathetic at all, lack of urgency! I usually visit my dad every 2-3weeks depending on how busy my schedule is. In March 2016, I had a white metal planter holder that mysteriously went missing. I called the front reception desk, informed them of my complaint, and they got me in touch with their maintenance manager Gil. I left them my name and number and it took 3 days for him to respond to tell me that they couldn't do anything about it ("sorry", maybe get some credit from the flower shop). I was so upset! My planter was not cheap and it went missing...or did someone stole it?!?! I don't know...because they said they have no surveillance to prove anything. For all I know, their maintenance guy could have thrown it away. Even though they couldn't help me, I replaced the exact planter that weekend, reordering it from Amazon. So this past weekend, Father's Day 2016 - I come to visit with flowers and I find my planter destroyed, and run over by their maintenance guys. There was even tire track marks on my dad's tablet. I was so furious, literally in tears, that I brought the planter to the front reception desk. I spoke with Steven who informed me that they don't have managers/supervisors on the weekend and that it will have to be resolved on Monday. He gave me the VP of Forest Lawn - Angie Ray's direct number (who did not pick up and does not have a voice mail to leave a message). And again, he also gave me Gil's number. Everyday until Thursday, I called again and again without a resolution. Gil assured me that he will reimburse my planter but never called/email me back. The receptionist Stephanie stated that she will speak with Gil again to inform him. With all that said, they want me to come in and pick up the payment. So inconvenient and a waste of time, they don't care about the deceased' loved ones. They're too busy to respond and will not do anything unless you bother them. read more

My Gramma is terminally ill with Cancer and does not have much longer to be with us. On Saturday a gentleman by the name of Jon came over to the house my Gramma is at to talk about her cremation and was supposed to bring a price list so we could write a check. Instead, he showed up with a bunch of confusing information. My Gramma's illness happened overnight and very rapid so our family is having a really hard time wrapping our heads around what is going on. When someone shows up and tells you a bunch of things will be going on and from this many weeks to this many weeks, from this hour to this hour from this price range to that price range, it can get very frustrating. My uncle had already talked to him over the phone of everything my Gramma and the family wanted. His job was to come with a print out and a price so we could write the check. He had no sample of the tablet we had picked for my Gramma and her late husband (my Grampa) This meeting felt like a first meet instead of a finalizing meeting. We had to tell him to leave and come back next week when he was more prepared and have print outs of the information he was giving us. His job is to make sure we have all of this in front of us, not having to scramble to write it down while he talks and pray that we got all the information. Then when we asked if they had pamphlets of this stuff, he says yes, but he did not print it out. WHY WOULD YOU COME TO SOMEONES HOUSE UNPREPARED! That would be like me telling my students to do a worksheet but not giving it to them and instead having them write it down based off my memory and expect it to look exactly like the sheet I should have given them. It doesn't work like that. You have to be prepared when you show up to someones house with a bunch of information like that. Oh, I am also amazed that they no longer dress the person before being cremated. Now that is all an extra charge of $300 (so we were told, he never had a price sheet or anything) My Gramma is not being cremated in a pink oversized shirt and a diaper. So now, my mom and I have to go over when she passes and dress her, put her makeup on, and do her hair. Yeah, talk about a slap in the freaking face. That's great. -_- We have no idea why she picked this location. She should have just stayed where the rest of the family is out in Glendale. Update: The day of my Gramma cremation, she was revealed to us with no makeup and hair done. It was terrible. All of that should have been done. Its pretty sad when her granddaughter has to apply her own dead grammas makeup. read more

This is a beautifully well kept funeral home and cemetery. They also have a nice chapel on the property where families can hold their services. I would actually give them five stars for the cleanliness of the facility. The two stars are for accomodations and funeral service. The funeral home itself is really small. Our family was pouring out of the viewing room.I 'm surprised they don't have larger rooms. I have attended many funeral services at various funeral homes and I was observing that our family wasn't be guided by the funeral home employees as well as we should have been. Not only that, our guests were waiting at the gravesite because the equipment to perform the buriel service arrived late. I have been visiting this cemetery for the past 22 years to visit my grandfather who past away in 1994 and my grandmother who past away in 2011. The employees who we encountered during my grandmothers services were sympathetic and caring. Both of my grandparents' funeral services were beautiful and full of love. The cemetery itself is well maintained. There was span of a few years where the grass area where my grandparents are buried had died and turned brown. It has now been fixed but I still see a few brown patches here and there. read more

I went to Cypress and the people in the front didnt know what they are doing. Alysa always rude to my family when I ask for help with my moms head stone. There are a lot of nice people in this world and I think I am the luckiest person to have worked with some of the nicest most caring and understanding people around. I want to say a special thank you to Jason Andrade and his co-worker Sheyla for going above and beyond to help me with a situation I had with my mother's death certificate. If it wasn't for Jason willing to work with me in getting my mother's death certificate re-submitted to a uncooperative doctor for his signature and Sheyla working along side of Jason to see that all went well, I wouldn't have the corrected death certification and my mother wouldn't have been truly honored after her passing. That meant the world to me and my family. Jason has the best communication skills. He was in constant communication daily to keep me informed of the progress of the situation. Jason and Sheyla did everything in there power to help me without hesitation. When the certificate was actually signed by the doctor they went out of there way to drive to the doctors office and pick it up. Now that's awesome! I am deeply grateful and moved that they would go to those lengths to help me. They are great people that really cared about my feelings and what I was and am going through as I grieve the loss of my mother. Words can not express how moved and how grateful I am to have been able to work with such wonderful people, especially in this world today when no one seems to care. Thank you Jason and Sheyla from the bottom of my heart for honoring my mother and making things right so my mother can truly rest in peace. You would think that since our grandparents bought their plots over 30 yrs ago, the cost would be a lot less? Not really, they still wanted to charge us a few thousand dollars to put on a show. So we decided to do it ourself! We even had to bring our own chairs since they would charge us for them. So they buried them with no one there on a Thursday, and we did our own service on the following Saturday. This place is still beutiful, and on the most part very manicured. But just like any other mortuary, they will try to take advantage of you in your most vulnerable time. Please be careful! read more

I came here to visit my great grandmother's grave. The first stop my cousins and I took was to the flower shop to buy some bouquets, a dove, and a couple of hearts. We came here on November 1 (All Soul's Day) before we drove out to our hotel in Long Beach. The last time I came to this cemetary was back in 2010 when we had the funeral. I remember it being peaceful and it was just a beautiful park. Anyway, fast forward 3 years later and the memorial park is still as stunning at the first time I saw it. The groundskeepers really do a great job making sure it looks great with the grass cut and watering the plants. The women at the flower shop were really nice and pleasant. The associate who helped us (I forgot her name) made us feel really comfortable about our purchase and she didn't make it feel weird that it was a memorial park. She got to know my cousins and I a bit and she never failed to stop smiling so it made me feel good about vising my great grandmother. read more
