Thank GOD we will Never have a need to deal with these Heartless, people EVER again. My Amazing Mom left us a few days ago and made it Crystal clear that she wanted to be cremated. I live Out of state, so I called and asked if They could fulfill my moms wishes without my signature, which they wanted along with 2 witnesses or a Notary, (No good deed goes Unpunished) However, The employees at the Long Beach Forest Lawn made the decision to Call Grieving Family members after I asked her If she could get my Moms Wishes started without My Signature as it was after 5pm, We live in the country no place close to a Notary. I was fed up with a Brainless heartless Employees, so I hung up. Again, the employees CALLED grieving Family members and told them I "Would not sign the papers to have my mom cremated" and MOM would remain refrigerated. Amazing what a can of worms Like the "People" at Forest Lawn Long Beach are able to open when put into a Position to Use a Telephone.. Thanks you Idiot for Making this terrible time WORSE! Did we Mention, When we DID arrive at a Notary the Very Next Morning, The EMPLOYEES at Forest Lawn had NOT included the Correct paperwork that they so desperately needed........Useless as a Company! UPDATE: Now I'm getting endless calls from the "People" at Forest Lawn", "I would like to talk about the Situation so call me if you want to talk". Apparently It's not OBVIOUS enough I don't Need/Want to talk to these People, who have left countless messages, as I'm NOT RETURNING THE CALL? I guess some people will give a company that 1) Takes in all the Facts, Distorts said facts then Passes on the Ultra Distorted facts to family members. We are those crazy Nutty kinda people that give people 1 shot at screwing things up, or Doing it RIGHT. This situation had the ability to bring our family CLOSER, But Forest Lawn,, interpreted "Can you get it done now without Me, as its after 5pm" into "HE WONT SIGN"! This company was wonderful! When picking up my mother in law they waited for me to say my goodbyes. Then the next day made time for my husband and daughter to see her and say their goodbyes. In the end we did not end up using them for her cremation. We just couldn't afford the smallest package. However, I would highly recommend them if you can afford it! read more

I've meet the most dedicated person ever keeping this place looking amazing, clean and the gardens looking very nice . Mr. Jose Gutierrez is so humble , professional, dedicated to his Job, very well spoken in taking care of our needs , becuse of him my mom and family are so happy to come know .. After paying a good $30k, 4 months later a get a bill that still owed 650 dollars due to a staff mistake. The price of the portrait for the tombstone wasn't added in the original bill. I get a bill and a contract that they will deduct 115 dollars from my account. I'm like, who decides how much your taking from my account? They don't know the financial situations that someone is in. Forest Lawn showed some care for its customers, it goes to show that one's loss at Forest lawn is simply dollar bills. I understand it's business but don't throw out number on how much you want to take from my account. Very disappointed and lost of words. read more

There is never a time you want to plan for your own funeral needs however my wife and met an outstanding Forest Lawn Planning Advisor by the name of Maryanne Carrillo. She met with my wife and I and was wonderful working with us on our needs so our daughter's and their families would not have to go through all the last-minute rush and expenses with either of us. Maryanne was consoling, discussed what our requests were for our funerals, and told us our options in a very open session. Not pushing us in anyway, but just what our requests were during our meeting. Her interpersonal skills with us were excellent and we walked out of the meeting with our plans and purchases. I want to thank Maryanne Carrillo for an outstanding job discussing our needs in a difficult time but is reality. Gina and our service representative we're both very comforting in their demeanor; which gave us time to make decisions and think things through. Monday, May 4, 2015, I lost the love of my life (my Damon). He was buried May 19th and since that day, I never let a day go by without visiting him. Life as we all know when we lose a loved one is never easy . Visiting my husband at Forest Lawn brings me comfort and peace. What makes your visits a little better is when you see the staff members and they greet you with their smile or wave "hello." Sometimes they even walk up to shake my hand and say hello and offer me water. That alone makes my day and my visit a little easier. A whole year without my husband has been extremely hard and painful. We just celebrated his 1yr Anniversary last Wednesday on the 4th of May. It was very stressful going through the laying of my husband's headstone to planning a big 1yr anniversary. I say stressful because it's hard to do anything when your heart is broken. What lightens my burden is being surrounded by great people who are always willing and able to help me in any way possible. In March when we laid my husband's headstone, I pulled up to the cemetery that morning and they had a tent already set up with chairs and a cooler filled with bottled waters just for me and my family. The day we celebrated my husband's 1yr, Nikole and Shivon came with trays of cookies for me and my guests. If that's not love then I don't know what is. Going through a year without my husband, I have come across a lot of wonderful people. I found a flower shop nearby who are faithful in making my flowers so beautiful every week, just for him. Another group of wonderful people I've come across are the staff members of sunset in Danville, Illinois. These wonderful people are responsible for the beautiful headstone that was made just for him. Lastly, God has Blessed me with friends that I now call family at Forest Lawn in Long Beach. I can't tell you how much I love these folks. From Nikole, to Shivon, to Marisela, to Andrea, Felicia, to the maintenance guys Hal, Christian, Omar, Victor to the security guard, and so on, I love them all. They have been so great to me and my family. Whenever I needed something, they were ALWAYS there. Always there and always supportive. Customer service is awesome. As crazy as this may sound, Forest Lawn has been like a second home to me, because a part of me is buried there:( My husband is buried upfront in the Jonquil area, when I'm there it literally feels like I'm at a park. It's beautiful and peaceful. I totally love this place and I'm glad I'm only 10 minutes away. To everyone at Forest Lawn in Long Beach, Keep up the great work. Your love and passion for your customers shines bright! Know that everyone that comes through your doors and gates are hurting, but if you continue with the great services, those people will never forget the way you made them feel. Obviously planning/preparing for a funeral is the most stressful thing anyone could ever go through, and the staff here works really hard in making sure everything goes smoothly and nothing else gets added to that stress. They are excellent at preparing the most beautiful services for your budget and are very honest/open about what they provide. The Cemetary grounds are in need of "lots" of care...look shabby. Hadn't been there in years. Very sad. Mausoleum, nice, but very hard to locate some sites. Not marked well. Some halls had #'s, others, not. Niche's, VERY difficult, if not impossible, to read top row names. No one in building to co nfir with. Never did find Niche we were looking for. read more

Came in for some pre planning info and wasn't happy that we had to wait over 30 minutes to speak to someone. Then when paulita met with us, she had to spend another 45 minutes researching what's available and writing everything done on scratch paper. All soles and Rose Hills are much more organized. They have prefilled out sheets for all the various areas of their property with all the numbers already there. I can understand checking availability or making changes for customization, but hand scribbling down every little number for properties...and there were tons of options, from wall crypts to lawn, and not even getting to the services, which they do have preset plans, just no flyers or handouts on them with pricing, was very time consuming and boring and laboring. Paulita also told us that she came the instant they called her so why did it take over 30 minutes of waiting? Lastly, we were turned off that a lot of the outdoor lawn was yellow and dying. For the priced they charge, the lawn should be lush and green year-round. Paulita said they water 4 times a week, but that can't be true because a lot of the lawn was dying. People should be what's dead, not the dang over priced burial lawns they are selling. read more

This Forest Lawn, formerly Sunnyside Memorial Park, is a very nice cemetary. The mausoleum is absolutely gorgeous. Inside there is a three story tall pendulum and sometimes there is pretty music playing. It's a very nice place to just walk around. I always take friends here and I used to come here to read because it is so peaceful. Parts of the building are falling apart, but the underground floor feels just like a parking garage. There is a beautiful staircase and an amazing old elevator that sounds like it needs to be exercised. If you're passing through Long Beach, I suggest you make a visit here. read more

Today I went to visit the loves of my life. I needed assistance to remove the vase to add flowers to my loved ones plot. Henry Arroyo grounds keeper here at the Forrest Lawn in Long Beach went above and beyond assisting. I felt bad seeing the headstone needed to be cleaned however I had not thought of it prior to running to take flowers as it is Dia de los Muertos. Well Mr. Arroyo not only came to assist as requested. He went and cleaned the headstone back to its shiny beautiful original look. Thank you for what you have done. I DID NOT ask nor did I mention that I wished I had brought something to clean it up. He simply did it out the kindness of his heart! :-) It meant the world to me on such a day like today to have that kindness given to someone he didnt even know how much it meant to me. Thankfully they have gardeners & cleaning persons who do speak English, be cause there is no one in the mausoleum to give help people find the place were loved ones are interned. There are not persons t the gate to give directions to the viewing areas. While I was there to day, one family who had recently lost their father was wandering around looking for an employee. Only gardeners maintenance persons were in the mausoleum area to day. Also, floor in my in loves private room was filthy. Since we hadn't been there for a couple of years, no one could have tracked in dirt & it is far from any interest, it should have not been dirty. read more

This has been long over due as my experience started back in July of 2016, when my siblings and I decided to relocate our dear father who was resting in Forest Lawn, Long Beach, California for a few years to our homeland in Samoa. The purpose of this task was to fulfill our dear fathers' precious wishes just before he passed. And Socorro and her manager with their whole staff were tremendously very helpful through this very emotional and very difficult process. And not to mention, a much difficult process for their field workers with the situation. But they made it a very smooth process from paperwork to connecting with the funeral home in Samoa, to transporting our father to the airport for travelling. Through prayers of my family with the guidance and help from Socorro and their staff, we were able to accomplish this task successfully by laying our father in our homeland in Samoa in August of 2016. The very last piece of this process was putting back my dear nephews' plot marker as he has been laid in the same plot where my Dad was laid. The original marker had to be broken up with the relocation of my dear Dad and my dear nephew's marker was specially custom made by his dear Mom. The placement of my dear nephews' new marker took place just last week on July 20, 2018 in which completed this whole process successfully. Our hearts are full of thanksgiving unto our God for allowing this to take place, and to Socorro and all of their staff in Forest Lawn Mortuary, Long Beach, California for again, accommodating our family by making it a very smooth process last Friday. My wife and I went to leave flowers and pay our respect on Mother's Day. When parking and getting out of our car, we were greeted by an overflowing waste receptacle. Food, dead flowers, drink cups, chicken bones, and other waste was spilling out of an over-filled trash can and was being blown around by the wind. Visitors had no choice but to set their wastes at the base of the receptacles throughout the park. Thirty feet away sat two Forest Lawn employees under the shade of their canopy oblivious to the mounting trash just feet away. After taking photos of the mess, I shared my disgust with them. No promise to get someone to clean it up and empty the receptacle was made. After being told by the two that it was not their job or responsibility to deal with it, I was directed to the office just a hundred feet away. Inside, no one of authority was able to receive my complaint except a receptionist. Unbelievable that on one of the most frequently visited days of the year, when the park should have been a showcase for visitors, one should have to experience such disgusting filth and mess. i know this may seem a little awkward to write a review about this place. but of all mortuaries, i love this one. not only cus most of my family lay to rest here.. but from the time of the first viewing to the day of the burial, it truly feels like a place just for you and your fam. no matter what the situation is.. in the most adverse way... this place brings some sort of tranquility. maybe its the beautiful quad with a huge pond of fish.. or the space they give for you and your fam to come together. I can't stop thinking about the staff here, starting from the front desk when I first arrived on September 30, 2015, until the burial of my sister, no wait,!, had a call from the manager there a few weeks after my sister home going...okay but before I go on, it was started Sept 30, 2015 @11:30am I came in to check sum prices along with my brother In law and his children I didn't have an appointment first of all, but we were kindly accommodated buy a beautiful person in reception, she appointed us to a lovely lady name Socorro, we were escorted in a room gave us cookies and water sat us down and started searching for what we had asked of her. We ask that my sister be laid next to our father and brother at the garden of devotion, she looked up and found no space what so ever, my family says that I am a very persistent women,that is so true, because I asked her to please search again, and so she did exactly what I said with no hesitation, she was able to find my sister a place in the garden of devotion but it was still to far from our father & brother's lot, so we all went out to the park she showed us and so my brother in law said okay we'll go with that space..Well if you know me I wasn't having it, I say please Socorro search again we have about a week I'm pretty sure we will find something closer by then, she says with a smile,okay call me back on Tuesday I'll keep looking. On Tuesday I called but I didn't get Socorro she was with a family so I was transfer to the manager name Shervonne, I couldn't ask for a sweeter person, she search herself she came on the phone and said I'm sorry there still no space closer to your father,but I'll tell you what when you come back in for your appointment on Friday asked for us to search again she said don't give up, Friday comes and we meet with Socorro I was there first I wanted Socorro to search before my brother in law and children gotthere, and by the grace of God she found us a space 4 space I was amazed Shervonne the manager herself walk in the room and said "who is Shao, thats me by the way" she gave me the biggest smile and said congratulation. I can't help but to think that the staff here at Forest Lawn went over and beyond to help me & my family especially at a time like this when we are mourning the loss of my dear sister they made everything to easy for us, their kindness I mean really coming from the heart kindness I saw in all the staff, from the office to the ground's men and the staff that help us during the burial all went over and beyond for our family..as crazy as it sounds but we will never ever seek any cemetery for our loved one because Forest Lawn in Long Beach on San Antonio is family to us now... read more

Forest Lawn Long Beach helped with my mother and grandmother's services in 2007 & 2008. The counselor who helped then was horrendous! Had I known then what I know now, I would've sued Forest Lawn utilizing several claims, including race discrimination. Recently (December 2015), Forest Lawn Long Beach handled my brother's services and thanks to Socorro, my faith in this institution was restored. Socorro was very accommodating, compassionate and quick to answer any questions/concerns which arose. I anticipate using Forest Lawn Long Beach again in the future and will definitely request to work with Socorro again. Furthermore, the two individuals assigned to assist with my brother's services the day of the burial (apologies, but both their names currently escape me) both provided excellent service, too. Their kindness, patience and professionalism were not only needed but, extremely appreciated, considering my last experiences in 2007 & 2008. The only reason I rated Forest Lawn Long Beach with 4 stars in lieu of 5 stars is because their customer service department lacked in one area. Specifically, when I would call to obtain information, several representatives would fail to read system notes before providing answers. For example, I specifically asked not to work with the counselor I dealt with in 2007 & 2008. But when I called to schedule an appointment, I was given dates where said counselor was the only counselor available. When I mentioned that counselor was not to work on my brother's services, the customer service representative would say something to the affect of, "yes, I see that in the system notes." Similar instances occurred several times. I will say that the first customer service representative I dealt with to initiate my brother's services (I believe her name was Rebecca, but I could be wrong), was extremely informative, kind and professional. Actually, all customer service representatives I spoke with were informative and pleasant. My only suggestion is that customer service read all system notes before providing information to callers. All in all, my faith in Forest Lawn Long Beach was restored with the help of Socorro, the two individuals who assisted on the day of my brother's burial services, and even customer service. read more
