I don't often come to this side of Delmar (usually I head west of Skinker), but I would definitely be open to coming back. I recently came on a Sunday to have dinner with my partner and two friends. The place is on the small side and has pretty basic decor. We were seated right away. I ordered a Thai tea (your standard and delicious Thai tea) and the hung leh curry. I typically order green curry whenever I go to a Thai place I've never been to, but I had never heard of hung leh curry before and I loooove pork belly, so I had to get it! I really enjoyed it. It was so full of spices and flavors (but without being spicy). It was really good! I just wish there were veggies in it, but I knew that beforehand and it wouldn't stop me from ordering it again. Our servers were friendly, the food came out quickly, and the price is pretty good for how much food you get. Next time, I would like the try their green curry and khao soi. A little hard to spot, but Fork & Stix is just right off of the Delmar Loops tucked in the corner of Rosedale Ave. You will miss it if you aren't looking for it. I've heard about this place and came with a few friends for dinner. The restaurant is on the smaller side, probably around 8 tables inside and with additional seating outside. I tried making reservations just in case, but they do not take reservations, probably due to the size of the restaurant. Normally when I go to a Thai restaurant I usually stick with the Pad Thai or the Green Curry. Since I've had so many of both of those dishes, I can really compare other Thai restaurants. Instead, I decided to take a chance and try something different. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with chicken, opting for mild spiciness since the server said it was spicy. I was really hopeful on the dish, but I felt like the dish was a little on the bland side. The only flavor I could really taste was the spiciness of the dish. So bummed about my most recent visit to this small hidden restaurant off the Delmar Loop. Located on a side street with only 3 parking spots- plan to park at a meter on Delmar instead of attempting to complete an awkward U-turn when you don't find a spot out in front. Arrived about 6:30 on Sunday night expecting a wait (based on other Yelp reviews). We were seated promptly, but at the last available table. As we ate, there were about 5 other parties (an average of 2 people per party) waiting for a table. There is not room to wait- there were no less than 4 people standing a foot away from our table the entire time we were in the restaurant. Service is slow. Though we were seated as soon as we walked in, we did not receive water or menus for another 5 minutes. It took another 5 minutes for her to come back for our order. It took about 20 minutes for our appetizer to arrive, and then another 20 minutes for our food. There were only 2 servers for the entire place, but when they are responsible for bussing tables, too, service gets jammed up real fast. Food tasted fine. Portions were smaller than what I'm used to. The green curry lists peas as an ingredient. When there are 5 single peas total in the bowl, I don't think you should list peas as an ingredient. The green curry was predominately bamboo shoots with maybe half a green pepper. Chicken was dry. I don't think I'll be back- poor service and mediocre food. read more

Fork and Stix is off the beaten path but it appeared people were not having any trouble finding it. We were greeted when we walked in the door and quickly seated. The menu isn't large, but there were still plenty of items to choose from. To start, we shared the Thai Stix. Crab and cream cheese wrapped in a crispy fried roll with chili sauce. They were delicious - like a crab Rangoon but a better way to serve it. For our entree, Mike chose the green curry and I picked the stir fried rice with beef. The green curry was delicious and mild. When my stir fry came I thought they were a little chintzy with the beef but after diving in, I realized it was throughout the dish. Very good. Over the years, Fork and Stix has been consistently fantastic, and is always on top of my list of places to bring guests. The Khao Soi is always extremely well-received. I had it recently and it's better than ever. Pair that with some cold iced thai tea w/ lime and you're having one of the best (and reasonably priced) food experiences you can find around these parts. Don't be afraid to add some of the thai red pepper paste if you like an extra kick. I'd highly suggest the beef salad as a starter. The fish sauce and other spices give the beef a powerful flavor punch, and the mint is a great paring. Even ordinary things like crispy spring rolls are elevated to something great here. Saturday lunch couldn't be better than a cup of spicy Tom yum soup and Laab gai with chicken larb!! We were a group of 4 adults , a toddler and a cute baby who couldn't help but sniff around at the strange and interesting aromas in the air. The enthusiastic toddler with us thoroughly enjoyed Hoy Jaw ( so did the adults) ! He thoroughly approved of the Chicken satay! The adults ordered pad Thai , and two Pad kee Mao. Love their Thai coffee which is basically like dessert form of coffee which helps cut the heat. Fork and stix is really small- like 10 tables and a few patio tables ( dog friendly). It packs a lot of flavor and character in the tiny space. I love the fact that I am challenged to try delicious and relatively unfamiliar dishes , other than the stereotypical fare that Thai restaurants usually offer. Eat here. You won't regret it. A solid Place for Thai! unlike some other places they didn't ask about the hotness/spicy level, and the food prob came out I would say about mild- it could be a tad spicier and I believe you can do that yourself. Pad Thai is my go to and it was a solid choice. The peanut in this dish was not crushed but was like a halved peanuts, which I enjoyed due to the extra crunchy texture. My wife got the Khao Soi (?) Which is a dish she has been dying to find in Thai places. She's had a really good one in Chicago and has been on a hunt for more khao soi ever since. Well we are happy to say that she has found her khao soi place in STL for now. The portions aren't huge but the taste is definitely there. I went today for the first time at lunch and want to go back for dinner. It's different Thai than I'm used to. They have khoa soi which is not offered at all Thai places. I love this dish overall but the dish here earns a 5 star rating! So good! I had mine with beef and the level of spiciness is perfect. We also started with the muu ping which was fantastic as well. TL:DR - This place introduced me to the wonder that is Khao soi, but this latest trip the quality of it fell quite bit. Location is not great for larger groups. Parking can be difficult. They've built enough of a reputation with me to give them another shot before writing them off though. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place before. I've been here plenty of times and this used to be my favorite Thai spot in stl. Keyword: "Used to be". I came back in today for the first time in about a year, and it really did not meet the quality it used to be. When I come, the only thing I get is the Khao soi. This dish blew my mind the first time and was like nothing I had ever had before. The broth was bright, so full of flavor, buttery, and umami at the same time. This time when I came it, it tasted a bit watery and lacked the same depth it used to. Additionally, the egg noodles seemed over cooked. Aside from that, this place is relatively small. Could handle one big group assuming no other big groups are there. Servers were fine, nothing amazing. One thing to note is parking is not the best. Parking on rosedale is limited to about 4 cars, other wise it's easier to park on the east side of Delmar. Yum. I'm so happy that Virginia's reviews sent me in to this terrific spot. Stopped in for a Saturday lunch about 12:30 and found a seat. Again it isn't too big inside, but I've been able to find a seat for one or two every occasion and once the weather gets nice there will be tables outside. Appetizer the nam khao which was crunchy strips of pork? along with some crispy fried rice (that is a lousy description I realize) and served with some small raw cabbage leaves , think their version of lettuce wraps. It was tasty, crunchy and spicy. I also had an order of the Thai Stix which is essentially crab rangoon, only the real stuff, fresh wrappers and wonderful filling served with a sweet chili sauce. My lunch entree was the Pad Ka Prao, a delicious version of ground chicken, beans, green peppers accompanied by rice. Very tasty. While I finished my entire bowl two people could share. I'm surprised by the positive reviews for this place. Extremely bland curries that are mostly flavored water with gratuitous amounts of oil. The portion sizes are laughable. The spring rolls are mediocre and overpriced. Definitely the worst Thai place I have been to in STL over the last few years. Save your money and go to Thai Country Cafe just a few minutes away. I came here for dinner on a random Wednesday night - didn't realize how small the place was but we were lucky and got the last open table. Not sure if they do take reservations or not, but it was the dinner hour so everything was packed, perhaps try calling ahead. I ordered the pad kee mao with shrimp, mild. I was very disappointed when my mild order was too hot for me to eat. When I asked if it was cooked mild, they said yes. There was NO way that was mild. I think they cooked my noodles with someone elses, or out of the generic pot so it had a lot of left over spice on them. :( Other than that this place was fine. The veggies they use here are fresh, and the food is good, just was too spicy for me to actually enjoy. I also had their spring rolls which were fine, nothing special though. Most of the Thai food we Americans are familiar with and have eaten comes from Southern Thailand. However, Fork & Stix, a small restaurant quietly located on Delmar Loop, serves Northern Thai Cuisine which is surprisingly much different than the average menu items found at your local Southern Thai restaurant. One of the major differences between Northern and Southern Thai cuisine is the rice. Instead of Jasmine rice used in the South, North Thailand serves what is called sticky rice. To paint a picture, the texture of sticky rice is similar to the rice that's stuck to the bottom of the cooker when not enough water is used, except it's not burnt. It's definitely different, but it still tastes really good. But hypothetically, if I had to choose one item off this menu to eat for the rest of my life, it would be this Thailand street food called Muu Ping. This dish consists of sweetly marinaded grilled pork skewers with a coconut glaze on top. Out of all the items I ordered, this was by far the tastiest. If you're looking for a noodle dish then go with the Khao Soi which was named one of Saint Louis's must try dishes by Riverfront Times a couple years back. Last but not least, the Chicken Pad Thai (everyone knows what this is). Honestly, the only negative about this place was this meal. I didn't like it at all. The taste was clearly different than all the pad thai dishes I've had in my lifetime, and it wasn't for the better. The difference could be due to the fact that this is a Northern Thai restaurant. Therefore, different ingredients may have been used, but I wasn't a fan. However, try it for yourself though because you might like it. As of 9 July 2017, this restaurant has made its way into my Top 5 Asian restaurants to eat because of all the delicious food (excluding the Pad Thai). I probably never would of had a chance to try such unique and wonderful dishes unless I bought a plane ticket to Chiang Mai. If you're up for the adventure and want to try Thai food from a different part of Thailand then here's your place. read more

I have no idea how my dad found this place, but I'm so glad he did. It's a tiny hole-in-the-wall place with about ten tables, but we were seated right away during dinner on a Saturday night and had incredible service as well as awesome food. They offer some local beers, and they also provide a water urn for the table so you always have extra at your fingertips. The Hoy Jaw were a great way to kick off the meal. For entrees, my dad and brother both went with the Pad Thai, which is typically my go-to, but I decided to branch out and get Hung Leh Curry. Delicious. Pork belly and pork loin with ton of flavors and spices over rice. I asked if it was spicy, and the waitress said no, but it has a kick. Just the right amount, if you ask me! My brother appreciated the various spice and flavor additives on the table. They had red pepper flakes, and three different types of chili sauce available. We had our first visit to Fork & Stix the other day for lunch. It was very good, although I'm kind of on the fence whether it's worth the drive. If I lived or worked nearby, You'd probably find me there fairly regularly. This is most definitely NOT a place you'd notice driving by. We knew the address and street, saw a picture of it and *still* wondered if we had the right place. If they have a sign out front, I didn't notice it. The fact they've been around a while tells you it must be worth seeking out. I'd say it is. I tried a few apps with friends. They were all pretty different. I actually really liked all of them except the spring rolls were kind of ordinary. We had the Hoy Jaw (dumpling(, Sai Oua (sausage), Naam Prik (spicy paste) and Som Tum (papaya salad). I would get any one of them again. Note the Naam Prik is served with broccoli and carrot slices. On it's own I wouldn't have been thrilled, but it's an awesome addition to the sausages and the dumplings. Lots of heat. These are real easy to share. For a main dish, I had the Khao Soi with chicken, which many here and our friends said was a favorite. I'm on the bandwagon for this one - it was excellent. It has both soft noodles and fried noodles, which kind of makes me think it's not such a health dish, but if that's not critical, definitely give it a try. It's also pretty spicy. The service was attentive, we noted they serve wine and beer, although we didn't want any for lunch. I'm intrigued by sangria being offered. It would probably be really good with some of this food.
