This was our second visit to Fortify and they are 2 for 2! We have zero complaints. Everything we had was delicious and the service is excellent. We started with the Gouda fritters, and grilled Ceasar salad. Both delicious. For our entrees we had the elk and scallops. My husband loved the Elk and I thought the scallops were cooked perfectly. We try and visit every time we are in town. The cocktails are also delicious. What a gem!

Most amazing food in North GA. Inspiring farm to table menu revolving with the seasons. Full bar with craft cocktails and beer. The staff is always on point-well dressed, well spoken, and up to speed on the various specials. There is always a vegetarian off menu special so be sure to ask if that's your bag. Save room for desert!

This place is a must if you're in Clayton. The service, atmosphere, food, and drinks are top notch. We've eaten here for many years while staying in the area and it's consistently impressive. The shrimp and grits are amazing, as well as the specials/seasonal items. They have a full bar and delicious concoctions (including mocktails) . You won't be disappointed!

The food was good I wish there would have been a little more flavor to everything, I was really excited about the bread and butter being pregnant that is one of my cravings.. didn't really meet my expectations but it was reasonable. The server was very attentive, very nice. The dimming of the lights made everything feel so fancy.

Great service by waiter Joseph. Food was great. I would get the fried green tomatoes again! Nice ambience. Make a reservation if you are planning to come on the weekend.

Phenomenal food, drinks and service. My wife and I were in town for a brief visit and the innkeeper at our inn recommended Fortify. We sat at the bar and the servers/bartenders were wonderful! The cocktails were great, the food was delicious! I have a gluten intolerance and was pleasantly surprised by the number of gluten free options on the menu. I can't recommend this place enough!

These were so good, that in spite of the embarrassment I asked for them to be boxed up to take home!

When I'm on the road for work, one of the great pleasures is asking locals and searching reviews for the best food experiences. When I finished teaching a class nearby, I knew I wanted a really phenomenal meal, and somebody who lived in the area said I had to try Fortify. I am so, so glad I listened. I've been traveling for the past month, and I've had a lot of fantastic meals from New Mexico, to Colorado, to Dallas, and Philadelphia. But this was, hands-down, the best meal I've had in a few months. My waiter was outstanding, not just on the ball and excellent with timing, but he really helped me curate a great meal experience from start to finish. I think his name was Joseph, and I feel bad I can't remember because he deserves a lot of praise! Every dish I got was honestly better than the next. The flavors were spot on, everything was very fresh, temperature and presentation were perfect, just a fantastic experience. Hope to come back if I'm in the area again.

We made 6pm reservations while in town, but were in the area just after 5pm. I asked the hostess if we could possibly sneak in early, and she gladly made it work for us. We were seated quickly and waited on promptly. The food was amazing, as was the ambiance. We ordered the gouda fritters for an appetizer. I could eat a bushel of these. The taste, the goo of the cheese, the outer crust, and the red pepper jam for dipping made each bite memorable. For my main course, I ordered the pork chop. It was cooked perfectly and was so tender and tasty. It came with a side of roasted sweet potatoes and cauliflower. The only thing left on the plate when I finished eating was the bone, and that was stripped clean too. I would definitely come back here again and again when visiting.

Well, it's down a couple of stars. I'm not from Clayton, but…read morewe love this little town and visit it often, last trip in January 2026. I noticed the window sign said "Angie's Clayton Cafe" and whilst being seated at 11:45AM on Tuesday June 2, 2026, noted the wall art had changed, no more local memorabilia, and the menu is now a well worn, two sheet pieces of copy paper. No problem, the place was nearing capacity per usual and we did get a window seated table. But, then I noticed, no collard greens on the menu. So, if you read my earlier reviews, you will note that I have eaten at quite a few "meat and three" style country diners and that I also know how to cook this food at home. That's a big qualifier, because Clayton Cafe had become a part of our destination trip to Clayton from Greenville, SC. It was just that good, a notch above the crowd. I didn't find this experience to be the same. The decor, service, ambiance was the same. Even the same crowd starting a 15 minute table wait shortly after noon. Business has not suffered, but the food is not the same. Overall, everything was less flavorful, more bland. The highlight, the white sawmill gravy was piping hot and flowed well, not a gloopy mess and I like that it was served on the side. The country fried steak was tender, but it had less crunch on the crust and was significantly bland - pepper and salt please. The green beans had a small chunk of meat involved, but they too were very bland and lacked a depth of flavor expected from the hamhock, the biscuit was good, but not the buttery crusty biscuit if yore. The okra was straight up flour breading with no cornmeal in the mixture and that's a game changer on this dish. Fried chicken was good. Squash, or squash casserole was a bland mess and left uneaten. Don't get me wrong. This three star rating means "OK". It's still a good meat and three. It's just not an exceptional meat and three as experiences my multiple prior visits. So that's when I asked the server if the restaurant had changed owners and yes, in April 2026. Well, there ya go, but Bon Chance to the new owners and Godspeed towards the hard work and keeping it going. Obviously, a full house lunch crowd on a Tuesday in June shows positive momentum. I'm just saying, pay attention to flavor, both in depth and complexity, to make these Southern standards stand out from the meat and three crowd.

The biscuits were delicious and not too dry, but the corned beef hash was a little too salty (even for a fiend like me) and my omelet was both under and over cooked. Even if the food was ok, I have to call out the exceptional service we received. Our waiter was kind and attentive, clarifying whether we wanted sweet or unsweet tea (my California ass forgot I was in the south now), warning us the kitchen was running a little behind due to the morning rush, and in general being a gem of a human being. I'd come back for that treatment! Logistics: - limited street parking in front - indoor seating only

We asked for more napkins, which never came. My wife mentioned the cold fries and she was brought another serving of equally cold fries. When we were finished, I asked the server for a couple to go boxes. We received one and had to ask for more; eventually getting one more box.
