Unfortunately they took quite awhile with my pizza, I ordered the amatriciana (I believe) that had a burnt bottom (black, and nearly the entire bottom) while the toppings didn't wow me much either. Went for dinner with a friend to catch up before New Years. We shared the Tenderoni pizza (okay, nothing spectacular), an arugula salad (which was fantastic) and a side of carrots (interesting in a good way). The service was excellent and they sent over a dessert (bread pudding) for us to try on the house (really excellent and I generally never bother with dessert since I don't like sweet stuff). The space is great (although the lighting could be lifted a bit to make it possible to read the menu without my iPhone flashlight), the tables are spaced well and you're not on top of others with their conversations (a rare thing in this area - unfortunately I hear far more about other peoples lives than I care to). I'd come here again for a relaxed dinner with friends. read more

I came here with my boyfriend for lunch yesterday. We each ordered iced tea and a San Genarro pizza. Unfortunately, it took an unusually long time for our pizza to come out. Other tables were getting their food ahead of us that came in prior to their arrival. The manager realized this without us saying anything, and our food and beverage was free. I appreciated that he took the time to make things right, especially since we were on a limited schedule. Things do happen. The pizza itself was very good. read more

Fortina has a great bar setup and their specialty cocktails are really good and worth a look. The bartenders there are really nice and helpful. The pizza is really good and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is really fun, but can get loud if that's not your thing. Some of the food can be a little pricey; especially the appetizers. read more

Went last night with my girlfriends and haven't been here since the birthday dinner last summer. Not only did the hostess remember us, she made sure we had an excellent server. Food was on point; we started with the meatballs, then had the arugula salad, then some roasted vegetables and ended with a pizza. Everything was delicious and the service was amazing. The wine was really good also. I don't understand the reviews people post saying that the service was not good or the food was disappointing; I personally have not experienced this. Came out here for Valentine's Day dinner. Great place and atmosphere, the food is delicious and we were seated right away. The menu had a lot of choices, especially that my family is half vegetarian. Fortina Rye Brook is one of my favorite restaurants in the Rye area. The staff is always friendly and the food is always fantastic. The atmosphere is certainly nice enough for special occasions yet still relaxed enough for casual dining. Christian Petroni has established himself as one of the areas top chefs, creating a unique brand of Italian-style restaurants. Be sure to try the meatballs and of course the pizzas are the main attraction. My fave is the Tenderoni but you can't go wrong with any of the selections. The pasta dishes, appetizers, and salads are all equally amazing as well. The retro playlists deserve a special mention too! I highly recommend Fortina if you're looking for a great meal in a fun setting. read more

I've been to this location a few times since they opened. I used to drive to their original location in Armonk, but since this is closer I've now decided to go here. First off, the pizza is excellent, no question about it. The black truffle pizza and also the tenderoni are incredible. I also enjoy the meatballs. Sometimes the pizza can be a little floppy thou and the toppings will slide off. Make sure you ask for well done. Overall though very unique flavors and very good. Points taken off for service. I gave the staff a pass the first time as I went there the first week of opening, but they are just not as friendly as they are in Armonk. Waited over an hour for our table even though we were told it'd be 15 minutes. Whenever we would ask the staff about an update on the table, we would get a rude response or ignored. read more

Ordered a pizza and chicken parm dinner, which we thought would be sufficient for two. I knew I was in trouble when I picked up the bag and pizza box. Combined, probably weighed less than a pound for $35.00 plus tax. The pizza fit in a 12 inch square box and the chicken parm "dinner" was a pressed 5inch diameter mcnugget, with a "salad" that consisted of fewer than 10 pieces of lettuce only, and that was it for accompaniments. When we got through, I asked my wife, "Well, what's for dinner?" If you have any degree of Italian blood running through your veins, I'd advise you to try somewhere else. Another amazing experience at Fortina. This time we came to celebrate my mom's 66th bday and had a great time. We had the steak, the chicken, the vegetable platter, pizzas and pastas. The drinks were great and the service outstanding. As new parents we also like the fact that the reataurant is kid friendly. Plenty of other families at the restaurant. My mom really enjoyed herself. Our first time at Fortina was a nightmare. When we first entered we had high hopes as we asked about gluten and dairy free options for my daughter and the hostess was very accommodating! Great! We'll stay! We sat and waited a good 15 min for anyone to take our drink order. They finally did and my daughter and i ordered sodas, my husband ordered a beer. The sodas came.. one correct, one wrong and no beer. The soda was corrected... still no beer. We ordered dinner (from a new waiter) and stressed that my daughter was gluten and dairy free. We ordered an app that never came. Finally our meals came - delivered by our third waiter of the evening -- my daughters "gluten and dairy free" pasta and sauce, smothered in Parmesan. (Dairy!) Seeing that, I asked about the gluten free and the waitress "didn't know". Ugh. They redid her meal. (Still no beer for my husband at this point - 4 reminders and we're sitting literally 5 feet from the bar). My daughters noodles (really shouldn't have been this difficult... it's noodles!) finally arrive with no cheese and she takes a bite. "This sauce tastes kind of funny". I go to taste a noodle and notice a corkscrew of sharp metal in her noodles! We believe it's a metal shaving from the cans of tomatoes that they use to make the sauce. This could have been catastrophic had she swallowed it. At this point the manager/owner came over and apologized for everything that had gone wrong. He didn't charge us for lunch and we left with his sincere apologies. (Never did see that beer or the app and ended up having to make noodles when we got home). The manager was very gracious and hey, anyone can have an (incredibly) off day, right? So few weeks later my husband and his business partners went in for lunch. Long story short... his drink order was screwed up and guess what he found in his lunch??? A curl of sharp metal!! No joke. Two times in the place... two pieces of metal in our meals! I've been twice, and both times I have never left unsatisfied. First visit was with a group of 6, and it was a party to say the least. Service blew us away, and the food knocked our socks off. After that visit, I brought my wife back for a 'date night' with high expectations. Fortina did not disappoint. We started with appetizers and slowly knocked off each course over our 2 1/2 session. The managers, Cali and John, made this dinner an experience. We felt as though they each had invited us over to their homes for dinner with 'grandma'. There isn't anything I can complain about. I've gone at least a dozen times and everything on the menu is so great. The staff is all "home grown" which is nice because it doesn't make the restaurant stuffy. Everyone is having a good time and obviously loves their job. There had been some instances where something went wrong with our table but the staff did something to correct it, they know something goes wrong and they immediately fix it without any excuses. My waitress went missing once for about 20 minutes. Another staff member came over took care of us and then the owner noticed something was wrong. He personally waited on us. It was nice to see the boss on the floor making things right. Their food is out of this world. The pastas are made in house, the pizzas are out of this world and their twist on dessert makes everyone leave happy. If there's something you want (that they usually have on the menu) that isn't on the day's menu, there's a good chance they'll go out of their way to make it for you. read more

Not bad, but would never go back. Table wasn't ready when we arrived, despite reservation. Music so loud inside that it made conversation harder including with the waiter. One appetizer (a simple garlic cheese bread!) came a full ten minutes after the other. Vegetable side dish came with first appetizer rather than main. The tables have a little card that you display when you need something. I thought it was going to be great, but it actually means that the waiter never comes by to check on you, and water glasses and wine run dry.... There is a ton of staff and everyone seems to be in a flustered hurry, yet they are totally disorganized. Food was fine- nothing special but tasty. read more

I said I wouldn't go to this place twice, and I did. It was for a friend's birthday so I didn't have too much of a choice. I just still cannot wrap my head around this place's policies and prices. I wrote the first review for Stamford and took it down but I can't fight writing this one. The food was nothing more than mediocre. Meatballs had little sauce. Pulpo was dried out. And they brought an extra serving we didn't order. They took it back at the end of the meal. Who knows what they did with it afterwards. I could have stayed local and gotten better pizza and pasta. One of the waitresses had a nasty attitude but I don't know her name. The drinks were boring as !@$% for $15 a pop. The bartender who poured a little wine down my friend's throat was nice. It's the damn prices man. Not one drink was comped on a +$700 bill. The first time we went, it was a + $900 bill with ZERO comped as well. I just can't. No more visits to this place, friend's birthdays or not. It's a shame. read more

This is my first time ever writing a review, but for some reason I couldn't shake the experience I had, so I thought it was worth making note of. The food was really great - the pork braciole..WOW, but unfortunately, we will probably not be coming back. Nothing can kill an experience like poor service. To start, the staff is all incredibly young, which is not a problem in itself, but speaks to the immaturity. Our waitress sat down at the table with us and said, and I quote, "I hope you don't mind if I crash your date night tonight" - we did. It made for extremely uncomfortable service. We let it slide, thinking, maybe its part of the experience. But it unfortunately got more and more disappointing. Half way through our meal, our waitress came by to let us know that another waitress would be taking over for us, not a big deal, we figured her shift was over - until about 45 minutes later when we saw her dancing behind the bar and in the back of the restaurant. The incident that pushed us over the edge, was when my fiance asked for another drink, but did not receive it because the staff was too busy blasting music and dancing. Literally, dancing, all around the restaurant. I guess the cutoff time to work is 10:15pm on a Friday. None of this truly bothered us as much as the clear lack of management. We have both worked in the restaurant industry in the past, we understand that they probably didn't think they were doing anything wrong. But where the hell was management? We won't be blowing another $100+ on this place. Maybe we will check out a different location in the future....but we are pretty burned by our first experience. read more

Worst service ever. Called to make a reservation and was told they dont take reservations. When we arrived, the host asked, "do you have reservation?" When I explained to her that we had called and asked if they took reservations, all she could say was, "well i wasnt the one who answered the phone." (Pony tail with tattoos) Which is an amazing way to rectify the situation. So then I asked how long the wait would be for a table and the response was, "I dont know". I have never seen such poor management or hostessing skills in my entire life. You obviously have been open long enough to have an idea of the flow of incoming traffic to your restaurant, let alone your turnover time. After a horrible experience last time, I tried to give this place another chance. Never again will I come here nor recommend this place to anyone. read more

I went in really excited based on all the Instagram pics I saw. What I got was not even close. The service was to lax for me. For the prices they charge on drinks and pizza service needs improvement asked for water refill several times, no busboys? even when my call card was placed up the servers all seems to busy talking and taking pictures of other people's food to notice. Aside from the ambiance the food is below average based on the prices. Kids pasta was to aldente, Margarita was salty and burnt, chicken was dry, potatoes not bad, mozzarella sticks had to much of a smoky flavor. Wine was flat and tasted old, beer was freshly tapped. I stopped by fortina last night for some drinks and appetizers. Our bartender Karen was very attentive, and was able to recommend some great new dishes. We tried the lemon-spaghetti balls and the tenderoni pizza, which were both amazing. The cocktails we had were all delicious. I'm excited for their new locations to open. Let me start by saying I'm not in the practice of making complaints, and this is not intended to be one - I'm posting this solely so the restaurant/manager can have the feedback. I agree with other reviewers about the food - it's fantastic. The Luigi Bianco pizza is heavenly! We enjoyed our food very much, but the staff was kind of a disaster. One flaky person, okay - two, maybe a coincidence. But all three (hostess, bartender, server) we interacted with left a bad taste in our mouths. First issue, we had a reservation and we weren't seated until 30 minutes after it. The entire waiting area had emptied, and we were the only ones left, yet we had to go to the hostess and say basically I hope you didn't forget about us. I'm not saying she needed to buy us drinks or anything, but how about coming over at some point and just saying "I apologize?" Also, she could have made our server aware of the snafu when we sat down. Not the end of the world, I just know a lot of other restaurants that would have handled this differently. The second thing was the bartender. We got drinks while we waited for our reservation, and the bartender pushed us to open a tab, so I did, and she said I could tack it onto our bill. Except when we sat, our server told us this was not the case and I should go back up to the bar (another few minutes as it is crowded) to close it out. I walked up with cash, but the bartender ran my card without asking how I wanted to pay. I know most people pay with the card they hold their tab with, but it's still customary to ask, in case another method is preferred. I don't know whether the bartender or server was mistaken about the bar tab and the bill, but either way, they need to have the same story. Lastly, our server was just so flaky, and basically said we were lucky to have the table because the place is so awesome. When we mentioned waiting half an hour past our reservation, she said "reservations don't really mean anything, they more just hold your spot in line." Now, that's something the manager should know about, because I'm pretty sure it's not the way to talk to customers (a simple, "I'm so sorry, I promise the food is worth it" or "dessert is on us" would've been fine). I get the vibe the restaurant is going for, and I loved the food, liked the dance music, and can see the point of young servers who look a certain way and add to that vibe. But there's a difference between young and inexperienced, and untrained. All of the staff we interacted with could use some pointers on working specifically in restaurants, where the customer is supposed to be more important than how your hair looks in that group selfie you just took. I would've given at least four stars for food, but I won't be back because of the service. I hope the staff can be trained and this place can work out the kinks, because it really was yummy, but definitely not what I want to spend my money on when I can go to The Cookery or Slyce and at least feel like they're glad to have my business, not that I'm "lucky" to be there. read more

We have been going to their Armonk location since they opened, so we ventured over to their new location in Rye. The restaurant has that perversely sophisticated ambiance we've come to know and love from these guys. John recommended a few items on the Rye menu that are elevated due to their new Josper grill. So, we tried the chicken and it was excellent! The Rye tai was a great drink and we really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts appetizer. Do yourself a favor, get a bottle of the super Tuscan and order whatever catches your eye. read more

My 2nd time at Fortinas and very happy. The staff is friendly and the food is great. Old school Italian with a modern twist. Oven Brick pizza; amazing and fresh. What's not to love?
