The crispy spring rolls were cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. The clear noodles and veggies were so yummy. I asked for soy sauce because that's what I prefer over sweet sauce, but honestly they needed nothing 4.8/5. The reservation system was a bit odd with no designated time slots, but rather you put in a time yourself online. The system turned out to not work very well as I originally booked a spot for 2 at 11am and then had to call to move it to 11:40am (weird time). Turns out when we got there, my name or a close spelling of it was on the list for 12:40pm. This wasn't a big deal to me since it's easy to mishear on the phone so we moved on from that. The restaurant was decently booked and we sat inside. Now for what my partner and I ordered! Unfortunately nothing called to me strongly so I went with the very basic choice of 2 eggs plate with ciabatta toast and rainbow potatoes. I added in chicken sausage for $3. 5/10: The toast was unbuttered and honestly tasted stale. The potatoes were nice and crispy, but unsalted and quite plain. The eggs were nice, I got mine scrambled. Sausages were okay, I think I actually ended up with the pork sausages rather than chicken. My plate was $26 and I can confidently say it is not worth close to that unfortunately. Brussel Florentine Benedict 6/10: My partner was intrigued by the ton yum hollandaise sauce. There was a hint of it which was nice. Benedicts were okay, nothing special. Coconut oat matcha 8/10: On the sweeter side, but enjoyable! I liked the toasted coconut pieces on top and thought it was a nice drink. Premium matcha wise, I don't agree necessarily, but hey it was an enjoyable drink. Drip coffee 0/10: My partner loves a drip coffee and not in a snobby way. From diner coffee to honestly plain old regular slightly brunt coffee, thats her jam. This coffee was just burnt. Not sure what happened but it was $5 for a completely bitter cup of burnt coffee. Not great. Fun side note: As we were ordering the table next to us called attention to their dish as their waffle was completely undercooked and tasted bitter. The wait staff was apologetic about it, but seemed to either not understand or insist it was "too sweet" not undercooked or bitter. The table was very polite about it so honestly it was not the best look for the restaurant. It was simply feedback and I don't believe it was taken very well. Regardless, just a fun note to throw in! We will not be back unfortunately. There are many lovely brunch spots and restaurants around the city and sadly I don't think this one is worth a try just because of the cost for the quality, but I always tell myself its always worth to try in case you do think differently!

I'm not even considering the 1 hr 45 min wait for the food as ALMOST THE ENTIRE patio of guests were in the same situation. 1. Pate Maison - a THICK, almost frozen, slab of tasteless pate came out on a cold, previously grilled, thin cut of what may have once been good bread. Pate was UNspreadable and fell off the bread in crumbles and chucks, revealing overly buttery cold and smushed bread structure underneath. It was AWEFUL such that I spit out my bite into a napkin. I declined a replacement with anything off the menu after the server inquired about me not eating it. 2. Dinner roll w a round of butter. It was a plain, white roll that is likely $1 at a local Safeway. And it was cold. I did not eat it. 3. Mushroom Ravioli - came about an hour after the pate. Ravioli were ok but only AFTER one scrapes the mud-colored EXTREMELY salty sauce they came buried in. There were literally 6 arugula on top that could not kill the salt in my mouth after one bite. AWFUL! 4. Pork chop - huge with 2 bones in. Looked ok but cause of the thickness, the more outer layers were OVERcooked and only the inner was ok. Plus, there was a mildl flavor of previously used fat/oil for the searing process. UNAPPETIZING! The gratin potatoes were ok but one does not pay almost $50 for a square of potatoes. We took the above home without complaints mainly bc we felt bad for the waitress, who already had patron next to us tell her they were starving and wanted to leave. I ate a $2 yogurt at home after putting the left overs in compost - and bemoaning a waste of $130 hard earned dollars. I give Food - a FAIL. The woman hostess who greeted and seated us was so friendly, and even noticed my son's medal that he was wearing after running the 5K in the SF Aloha Run. "Are you coming from the Aloha Run?" she asked. That kind of awareness with customers is a good indication of the kind of service that will be provided. Our waitstaff was friendly as well, asking us if we had any questions about the menu. My wife had a question about the item she was interested in ordering (Eggs Benedict) and he made a suggestion on what the popular choice was by customers. Our food came out quickly and hot, and our coffee cups constantly filled. We were pleasantly full with our meal choices. What I appreciate about Home Plate is their focus on the customer. The manager who was very friendly came by to ask if everything was okay and if we were enjoying our meals, and our waitstaff always checked in with us to see if we needed anything else. I looked around the restaurant and this was consistent at every table. I also had the feeling there were regulars around us as they were greeted with hugs and "good to see you!" from waitstaff.
