I have been ordering delivery from them for years. Recently they have been getting the orders consistently wrong. While they will refund individual products, when you order a main course and side it's $20 for the food but then another $10 for all the delivery charges. I ended up with a small snack and no main course and no drink for $20 instead of a full meal and drink for $30. no recourse what so ever. Tried FH on a recommendation tonight. We had crab Rangoon, shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and General Tao's chicken. We loved every bite!! The Rangoon was incredible especially!! Ordered for the first time here, I usually order from China Cook in streamwood but they jusy lost a customer and Fortune House just gained one! I am so impressed. First and foremost, the potstickers... they are HUGE, the biggest pot sticker I have ever seen in my entire life, and they were delicious. Sure the prices are high for large portions, but trust me a large is enough for a family of 5 or 6. The price is worth their huge portions. The taste is absolutely great. My first time at Fortune House as I have been searching for a great Cantonese, Mandarin and Szechuan restaurant due to several disappointments at my favorite Cantonese Restaurant. I have to say, We were so impressed by the expedience of my order, a sweet girl named Grace, (the cashier, order taker and she even ran the entire order out to my car.) Here was our order: *** The Bobo Platter which was delicious and tasted great as a perfect appetizer for two (It could have fed three.) *** I ordered two entrees which were the Chicken Almondine, and the house special Fried Rice. Nice pieces of beef, chicken, and shrimp and not just vegetables out of the can. All freshly cut, prepared with great flavor and appetizing. The containers were filled to the brim and piping hot. They included a bag with soy sauce, sweet and sour sauce, hot mustard and fortune cookies. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we enjoyed and the amount we have left!!! ( At least 4 extra meals) If you look at one of my last reviews, I had gone to one of my favorite places for Chinese food a few weeks ago and it was uneatable. The prices had tripled since I was going there and I had to ask for everything. This place hit it out of the park for customer service, quality, quantity and price and overall take out for my out of town guest! Ordered the Orange Chicken special. Delivery was super quick. The Orange Chicken was listed as "spicy" but it was actually mild. That's fine because if I wanted spicy, I would have ordered the General's Chicken. The pork fried rice was great. Unlike some other places, I didn't have to hunt for bits of bbq pork as they were very generous with quite a few pieces throughout the rice. Based on all the recommendations on here, we caved and ordered for take out on a late Sunday afternoon. Our order: General Tso and Hot & Sour Soup. I can honestly say that I am not impressed. If you have not been to many Chinese food spots, you might be okay with their food but this one does not make halfway up our "top" list. My husband is a Hot & Sour Soup fanatic while I always skip on it because I personally don't like it. According to him, the soup was cold, completely watered down and tasteless. While the General Tso was nothing special. In fact, most places we've gone to have broccoli with it. It tasted more like sweet & sour chicken than General Tso. It was sweet and not spicy at all. Ordered beef chop suey, when we opened it , it was majority broccoli so I called and told them that I think they gave us the wrong food since we never had broccoli in our beef chop suey before, the guy asked if there were any bean sprouts in it, I said yes there are a couple so he responds then it's chop suey. He was so rude. I told him that we would never come back again after years of going there and he said fine don't come back....who speaks that way to customers/people? All we wanted was for him to acknowledge the mistake and apologize for it, we were not looking for a freebie we just wanted him to be aware on how the food was coming out. I called back today and asked to speak with the owner but it was him again and he told me to not call again since i already told him i would be coming back. Now im furious so i called the other location and spoke with Sasha,she said she would call the other location to find out what was going on and would call me back, well she did and told me that she didn't know which guy it was....really, theres only 3 people working there. Then i asked for the owner only to be told he is not available that he is going on vacation. Supposedly his name is Ken but she would not give me the name of the rude guy at the schaumburg location because she cannot disclose that information. Quality has gone extremely downhill. Portions smaller, and the food has no taste anymore. Not sure if they are cutting back on seasoning or have a new chef, but the food is no where how it used to be just a few years ago. We've been going here for over a decade but I think it is time we found a new place. When we called the restaurant about quality concerns, we were told to bring the food back for a partial refund. Sorry, but that's hard to do when we would have to make a 30 min trip each way in traffic. This is not an isolated incident, see recent reviews on here and on other sites as well that confirm this. Best Chinese take out in the area. And even with that it is only three stars. And there's really not much to say here. It's a typical Chinese takeout far better than the rest of the garbage around in the neighborhood. They have standard lunch specials which are five or six dollars and get they give you enough food to last three meals. I never understood why Chinese restaurants I love to give enough rice for six people in a meal for one. Before I just ate this for the umpteenth time, I was sure I was going to give it four stars. However I have realized that there is much inconsistency in their orders every time. And it is not like they have a language barrier when ordering. This is the best part about this place. The guy in the phone speaks perfect English in the back of the house is Asian. I just don't know why there is inconsistencies in the food. Tip. If you want it really spicy, you need to say brown people spicy. Otherwise they're spicy dishes made extra spicy are still sweet. If you like your chicken crunchy make sure you say well done. I'VE TRIED - Orange Chicken (10/10) - Egg Drop Soup (7/10) - Egg Roll (5/10) - A bunch of others... It's been a while. Work has been so busy, and to make it worse, I don't get to travel as much as I used to, in fact I don't travel at all anymore! It's been so busy, I haven't even been able to try out new places, and definitely haven't been able to write about them. I got so inactive that I even lost my Elite badge after 8 years :( Well, luckily, even when I'm busy, I have to eat, and I can order delivery from Fortune House! I discovered Fortune House, because one day I was hungry, craving cheap Chinese food, and was too lazy to go out. Luckily, Grubhub existed, so I went searching for something to eat. I wasn't really expecting much. I mean, Panda Express, Manchu Wok @ O'hare Airport, whatever the Chinese place is in mall food courts, I'm a happy camper (except the Egg Drop Soup at Manchu Wok, it's horrendous!). You can see the star rating already, I had no idea it was gonna be this good! ORANGE CHICKEN This and General Tso's are pretty much my goto dishes. I like the sweet/salty/tangy flavors and the deep fried batter helps too. I ordered the lunch special (which is a RIDICULOUS amount of food for $6.75) with fried rice. I opened the large styrofoam tray and wafted the invisible steam of that smoky fried rice evaporate mixed with the tangy buttery air, and my nose hairs perked, because what was that? GARLIC! Ooh! My first bite of the chicken awarded this place all 5 stars! Here is this deep fried, battered lump of chicken meat, glazed in Orange Chicken syrupy/sauce, that has been absorbing all this steam for probably 30 minutes while en route to my house, and it manages to stay crispy?! Most made-to-order Orange Chicken isn't even crispy! How the hell did they do it?! Now, a disclaimer, it isn't always like that, but at least 1/2 the time it is! I don't find any hint of spice, but I do actually taste some orange, and they have a few small peels in it too. It's not a full citrus type of taste, but it's more of the citrus tang that you taste. There's a fair amount of sweetness (I think it's perfect), and seasoned just right. The sauce is pretty thick, but it's perfectly glazed on each piece. As subtle as they are amidst such rich tangy flavors, you can also get peeks of the deep fried batter taste, which along with the crispiness, smooths out any peaks and valleys like a culinary pillow-soft hug. But the thread that ties all these together, is garlic! As you're eating the chicken, the deep fried batter may smooth out the edges, but it does so only to make the garlic more pronounced. Remember, it's cooked garlic, so it's not super aromatic, but it's just barely enough to not be overlooked. If you actually pick up and eat the sliced garlic cloves, like me, you're in for a treat, but it's short lived. Let's not forget that texture. You feel your teeth busting open those microscopic batter bubbles and releasing that "deep fried air," that has that unique aroma that travels through your nostrils. The sound and feel of the crisp is what promoted this Orange Chicken from "very good" to "craveworthy!" EGG ROLL This is your standard cheap-Chinese-joint eggroll. It's got your average amount of cabbage flavor, and probably peanut butter. Nothing really special here. EGG DROP SOUP When I first came here, it was not even close to yellow, it was straight up Crayola Orange! While the color has slowly drifted to a more natural yolk-yellow, the flavor hasn't changed much, and that's a good thing! It's seasoned very well. You might even call it salty, but I think it's just south of that moniker. The soup is thick, and the actual egg pieces are a little yolk-y, but not enough to be problematic. I don't taste a whole lot of other spices (i.e. pepper, onions, etc.), but I'm ok with that. I order a large egg drop soup almost every time I order from here! JACKPOT! To me, cheap Chinese food is the safest bet when it comes to food. It's just always going to taste a certain way, and it'll never disappoint. When you really analyze it, sure, there are subtle differences, but usually it's a tug-of-war; for every positive thing, there's an equal amount of negative. That's where Fortune House, at least with the Orange Chicken, breaks that cycle, and with that, gets the 5th star. I've tried other things at this place, and they're about on par with most other cheap Chinese joints, but it's really the Orange Chicken that I can't get enough of! read more

I ordered delivery . When they called me i was a little busy but i made sure i got back to them as soon as possible. I call them and no answer, so i go downstairs from my apartment to find the whole order just sitting inside of the apartment! Someone let them in and they just set it in there knowingly that it could be stolen. I am very unhappy especially since all the potstickers were huge and undercooked. I had to put them back on my pan and cook them myself. Still taste so doughy. Fried rice is so bland. No seasoning at all. Its like they only cared about cooking the entrees correctly and said "hey f**k it, this needs to get done fast" horrible. Just horrible. Won't ever be ordering here again read more

This place used to be really good a few years ago. However, we have really seen the quality go downhill. Recently we ordered and I was fine with the higher prices, but we should still expect good food. This place is great. I used to get take out from here every so often before COVID19 and now that we have stay at home orders I switched to delivery.
