I've been here a couple of time for brunch and everything I've had so far is filling and delicious; my favorites being the quiche, breakfast sandwich and smoked salmon benedict. The salad dressings are watery and bland and the food itself is just not as good. My husband's $16 salmon plate looked like it was thrown into this to-go box. They explained all the nooks and crannies of the ordering process and gave some great recommendations. Food came out at a decent time. Order process: Order and pay first..... then find a table. If everyone in your party is not present, reserve a table and order/pay later. For tips, tip the staffer after the meal. They have a tip jar in front of the register or just leave it on the table. Food: Shared two plates: 1) Brie roasted grape grilled cheese (roasted red grapes and brie cheese!): Goodness! If you guys love brie cheese, do me a solid and get it! Prior to ordering this bad boy, I asked Britney (server) how it was and she basically replied with one word.... AMAZING! Britney was spot on and long story short... this has john's stamp of approval all over it! Tip: If you decide to make it a combo and want a recommendation about what soup to get. Please get the red curry kabocha squash soup (contains sweet potato and lemongras). Hearty, but darn good! I've been here a couple of times and every time I am extremely satisfied. Everything they serve is organic and healthy. It is a bit on the pricey side but the food is good. I ordered the short rib sandwich and it was delicious. It comes with kale salad. My 1 year old son at the time had their mac n cheese and it was extremely good too. He loved it so much that he almost finished it. Also, the fish burger was amazing. Juicy and packed with flavor. The entrees were extremely fulfilling and feels so light and healthy that I don't regret indulging the whole thing. This place is one of my favorite spots in Eagle Rock. Extremely disappointed! Wish I would have read the reviews before ordering from here. I was craving matzo ball soup and unfortunately I'm new to the area and haven't found a diner that serves it. Did a quick Google search and this was one of the only places opened that served it. Let me tell you there wasn't much of a matzo in this soup. FACT: The "Four" in Four Cafe is the four seasons that allows the cafe to create seasonal menus. Ok that was pretty obvious but I think it's cool they have a new menu every season! I experienced the Winter Season Menu! Here's what I had: BRAISED BEEF GRILLED CHEESE - $14.50 Slow cooked beef, gruyere cheese, onion & horseradish on country white bread. Served with a mixed green salad. This thin sandwich was really really really good. However it's not shareable like most sandwiches because it's not very much of it, even with their yummy salad that comes with it. There was a good amount of tender braised beef with a slight hint of horseradish, so anyone sensitive to spice can eat it. I really enjoyed this, but it was the most expensive thing on the menu, and when sharing, you'll still want more food. MAC 'N CHEESE w/hidden squash puree - $6.25 This is found under the kids menu, but anyone at any age can order it, and I'm so glad I did! Here's why: the Braised Beef Grilled Cheese was not enough food, haha. Also, because this was really tasty! I'd like to tell myself that the squash purée made this an alternative healthier version, which gave it that same creamy-ness we love about Mac n cheese! So I told myself that perhaps less actual cream is used and therefore is not as unhealthy, right? Hehe. When I saw it being brought to me, it was in this HUGE bowl and I got excited thinking its a huge portion. Bou was I wrong, because the Mac in cheese was baked in a small ceramic bowl, and to prevent myself (or a child) from burning themselves, it was placed in a larger bowl. This ooey-gooey Mac n cheese was although a small portion, it was delightful! BROWN BUTTER LAVENDER SHORTBREAD COOKIE - $3 I usually feel ok when it comes to desserts and treats that have lavender in them, hoping that it would be amazing...which finally happened when I ate this cookie!!! This delicate treat is dense and can get crumbly (that's what shortbreads are) with this nice balance or sweet and salty taste and the subtle lavender flavor (which you can see in the cookie!) didn't taste like o was eating soap! Even my friend who never likes anything lavender flavored enjoyed this! I felt $3 is a lot, but how often do I come across an amazing lavender treat like this one! I recommend giving this a try! I advise to eat it and not pack it (the top layer of the cookie will stick to the paper and it will crumble). This cafe is so cute, and I felt lucky finding a table. You have to order before sitting down with your number. I love their back wall--beautiful! This is such a great neighborhood gem in Eagle Rock. Not only is the food delicious and reasonably priced, but healthy too. While in the area, I decided to fulfill some old yelp bookmarks and Four Café was on top of the food chain. I was totally impressed by the sleek interior. Though the space is small and narrow, it was actually quite functional and cozy. Everything to make your dining experience pleasant and relaxing including floral centerpieces at each table, long communal wall seats and travel post cards for table numbers. As for the food, their vegetables come from local farmers markets and fresh. The casual dining atmosphere provides a nice compliment to their menu. Along with delicious soups, salads and sandwiches, they also serve kid friendly dishes like pasta, grill cheese and PB & J. I ordered the half-portion size BBQ chickpeas salad ($8.00) with chicken ($3.50 extra) and mint lemonade. The half portion size salad was hefty and quite delicious. All the right flavor profiles well represented - sweet, tangy, and savory. The BBQ chickpeas as toppings and buttermilk dressing were the highlights of this salad, not overpowering and surprisingly tasty. I definitely feel the love of summer in this dish. Even the mint lemonade was refreshing. Well blended and just the right amount of sweetness to put a smile on your face, including unlimited refills. My new relationship with Four Café has definitely made eating healthy more enjoyable. Great food, wonderful atmosphere and terrific service. We came in at 8:59 and an employee let us know that they would take our order even though they close in a minute but, for to-go which was so kind of him. So service was GREAT. I didn't realize they were practically closed because of all the people that were dining. As I was walking out I noticed my favorite drink on the planet was on the menu; Mint Lemonade. And as I went over to the counter I noticed the baked goods. We ordered a salted chocolate chip which was baked from who knows what AMAZING ingredients makes your typical cookie look bad and I love it; biting into this crisp thin cookie and you meet the moistness of chocolate chip LOVE the salt may be awkward at first but it's GREAT, gluten free chocolate chip on the other hand was so so, and the brownie I'm more of a crisp gal but my boyfriend loves soft ones so he absolutely enjoyed it. Anyhoot, i enjoyed it very much. The mint lemonade was a little too sweet but add a tad of water and it is awesome ! I had this place bookmarked for awhile, but I'm hardly ever in this area to try it out. Lo and behold a cancelled flight back to SoCal that we ended up getting back the next day. So that meant we were spending the day in the area. I was trying to figure out what to eat around the area. It was kind of hard to find something "organic"; there were only a couple of places that weren't too far, so I ended up opting for Four Cafe because of the reviews as well as the menu items. So parking is street-parking, so luckily, we found a spot down the block, which wasn't too bad. We came for lunch on a weekday, so that may be the reason why parking wasn't too bad. We came June 2017, so their Spring Menu was still in effect. We ended up getting the Banh Mi ($12.50) and the Jamaican Jerk Chicken ($12) sandwiches. Their setup is more fast-casual, where you order at the register, and then they bring it out to you. So the Banh Mi... I couldn't resist not getting it! If there's no pork, you can definitely count me in on trying it!! From what I remember... It was good, I liked it. The Jamaican Jerk Chicken wasn't as good though. It was a bit dry, harder to finish the sandwich unlike the Banh Mi. So overall, this was a nice place. I'd come back and try their seasonal menu again if something looks good. I'm hardly ever in this area though, so I'm not sure when I'll be back. I'd recommend it if you want something on the healthier, more organic side though!! It was definitely clean-eating! read more

Cute pricey place in Eaglerock. There's outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. The workers are all really friendly & it has a nice ambiance. The food is delicious. They're apparently called "four cafe" because their menu changes four times a year for every season. Unique idea, never been to a place like that. We ordered two sandwiches and both were really good. They came with a side salad. We also ordered a dessert they had that day, matcha vegan crepes. Delicious! Their flavored teas are good too. Parking is street parking. Healthy food is supposed to taste delicious and this place does a superb job. I am on a limited diet which makes eating at big restaurants a bit of a pain. That's why I am so grateful for this place! It's an "order and sit" restaurant but it's never too busy. Parking is readily availableat a meter in front or in the neighborhood around the restaurant. The salads are delicious and there are various protein options to add on. I love their Rosemary lemonade. This past weekend I had the Winter Seasonal Living Salad with chicken. I thought the chicken was a bit skimpy. I also ordered the bowl of chicken tortilla soup but it was cold. You have to pay at the counter before sitting down. There is no designated parking for the restaurant. The workers are very nice but after they drop off your food you will Not see them again. You are pretty much on your own to fend for yourself. We got the not so spicy red lentil soup which was just ok. The Living salad was refreshing and simple with the kale and the lemon dressing and crispy chickpeas. Very interesting. We also got the quinoa salad on the side. That too was simple. It was good with the dressig from our salad. My not so adventurous friend ordered the pressed chicken. I work in the neighborhood and have tried Four Cafe a few times. Not everything is terrible about this place, but I have some major complaints. First of all, there is rarely someone to greet me or take my order. I have walked out more than once because of this. The soups are horribly under seasoned, like basically no salt at all. The turkey sandwich I had today had been pressed open face resulting in leathery dry turkey. The "pop tart" was fun looking, but not very fun tasting- dry, tough pastry and unpleasantly sweet filling. The root salad I had once upon a time was delicious, and for that I give 2 stars. The place is usually quite busy, so there must be something I'm missing. I'd love to support local eateries, just please season and cook your food as if someone you like is going to eat it. read more

Every time we eat here the food surprises me. I don't know why I don't think of it or crave it more often because every aspect of the dish is always perfectly executed and distinctly flavorful compared to the other elements. I asked for a steak ban mi bowl, they sent out a ban my sandwich by accident, I decided to keep it and try. It was too much of an asian kick for me, too tangy.. I've been going to Four Cafe for years. It's a pretty good "go to" but sometimes uneven. Today I ordered a holiday turkey bowl for delivery. The turkey was inedible. It was a jumble of skin, gristle, joint cartilage, and unidentifiable bits. One piece of dark meat (leg?) with the texture of liver. Really gross. I really loved their white bean chicken chile this summer but when I ordered for delivery I never knew whether there'd actually be any beans in it. It's chile, not soup! But when it was complete and not watered down it was really good. I was really grossed out tonight though. The turkey is normally decent but I had to toss it. YMMV. read more

Very good. I had the chic jerk sand. Shredded chicken is layered with thin sweet potato slices, ripe chunks of avocado, aioli, and a ginger lime slaw. The blending of spices is delicious with a bit of a spicy hot kick. The sandwich is served on ciabatta with a side salad. The ambience is casual and the tables were cleared and wiped quickly. Ordering is conducted at a counter at the front of the restaurant. The food is brought out to the table. Water is self serve. The pricing is higher than I expect for self serve and counter ordering. We spent $30 for two sandwiches. Still the food was great and I'll probably go again the next time I'm visiting LA. read more

Had an appointment in Eagle Rock so we stopped here for lunch based on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! Lunch was delicious. Today was the last day for the winter menu, so I suppose I will have to wait a while to order the delicious split press soup again. We split a fish sandwich, which was also very good. The place inside is clean, spacious and colorful. All that was left was to try the food. I went for something I'd never normally order: The Jamaican Jerk Chicken sandwich. Sounds exotic right? It tasted pretty good! The bread was soft, the chicken was savory and the veggies with the cole slaw salad paired with a nice, light salad on the side made me a happy camper. Really surprised. I think they've directed all their focus, and maybe their ingredients, to their new location (as I recall, they were opening up a new spot). We went for breakfast this past weekend and were amazed and disappointed. If there was a theme to this review (which will be brief), it would be that we are disappointed not only because it was a bad experience, but because we lost a great stand-by when we cannot decide. After their turnaround (noted in prior reviews), they have been so consistent. But no more. Don't sweat the small stuff, but man that small stuff can get annoying when there is a lot. Craving their lemon ricotta pancakes, ordered them, a FULL size, and they meal size was comical for a child. Silver dollar pancakes came to mind, and these might have been about twice the size of a real silver dollar. Four little disks. And this was a full size for $11. I would have laughed out loud had we ordered the half. The adults shared an omelette after hearing that zucchini was the "market vegetables". Of course, not an ounce in the omelette, which was filled with Spinach. It was good, but not what we ordered. Large milk ordered, $3.50. Large cup received, half-full. Coffee used to be something we both craved, but that too was just not as good as it used to be. My tea was great. I'll say that. And again, the omelette was good. Just not what we ordered. So we have some portions issue, some food information that was wrong, and some just un-tasty food. We mentioned a few of these things and no one seemed to care. This little place is so cute. There is street parking that isn't too hard to find...well at least I haven't had trouble finding parking. The staff are friendly and they explain the menu very well in great detail if you have a question. They have vegetarian options like a chili with cornbread that is so good. If you're a coconut kinda person you must try the coconut pineapple tea. I was in heaven when I had it and kept going back for it. It's loose leaf tea that they steep in a little bag they tie themselves and when I asked they said it was from Chaco tea room. Omg so good! read more

Go next door to Camilo's. Always suspicious of breakfast places that open late, 9am. Walked in at 9:15 am on a Saturday and there was one customer. As we were leaving two more people showed up for to go orders. That isn't much traffic. Not a very nice feeling, very cavernous and no vibe. Coffee terrible, very brackish and couldn't finish. Salmon benedict very small, but tasty. Tiny portion of roasted and unseasoned potatoes. Pulled pork breakfast sandwich OK, but nothing special. Also the type of register that if you are paying by credit card makes you add tip upfront, which I hate because if I don't tip are they going to treat me badly and if I do tip and the service is bad I have no recourse. Need to carry cash. Lots of staff at least 6 people and yet it took some time for our food to arrive. No reason to go back. read more
