I have not found a great Chinese place near the house and was fortunate that my husband was working in this neighborhood. I ordered a BUNCH of stuff for the family and we each tried each other's food: egg foo young, orange chicken, veggie fried rice, egg rolls, lo mein. It was all delicious - so much so, we ordered again a few weeks later. I like that it is flavorful, had a little kick to it and was not overly greasy - it had a fresh, healthy vibe to it. (I find some Chinese places are overly oily, replacing oil for flavor.) This is our new go-to, even if not super convenient. I would be willing to drive out of the way for this food! read more

Oh my Gosh I'm in love with this place The lamb dumplings with dill is freaking amazing, they are flavorful and well cooked. The soup from the pork fat just explodes in your mouth and it's very tasty. The steam pot buns we order were ok, they didn't have that wow factor but it was ok. The seafood delight was wow amazing too. It had very big shrimps and many other amazing seafoods. Excellent! Orange chicken is by far the BEST on Halsted st! Like crispy chunks of chicken, beef scallion dish is tender and flavorful, Veggie Boa's are ridiculously big plus 5 per order, Combination fried rice has jumbo shrimp and I couldn't be more pleased plus 16 dumplings per order and they have several different kinds boiled or pan fried are fresh and handmade. Food was yummy. We got pork pan fried dumplings, the pork pancake, and AA cai (vegetable not on menu). Helps to speak Chinese. Hole in the wall place. Dumplings were juicy and cute, 14 to an order. We ordered takeout: steamed lamb dumplings, smoked pork pancake and home style tofu, picked somewhat at random. We thought all three dishes were really good and a good value. Dumplings were handmade and portions were what you'd expect for Bridgeport-- a good size at a good price. Since moving here we've been sequentially trying all of the restaurants doing COVID-workable takeout in the area, and my partner declared this place as one of the best. Since there aren't a lot of photos online we weren't sure what the pork pancake would be. It turned out to be a normal scallion pancake, but sliced and filled with slices of braised pork, raw green onion and a mildly sweet sauce-- sort of the same flavor profile as peking duck pancakes, but with more fat from the fried pancake. There's nothing wrong with any of that that; we'd get it again. read more

This is a fun place to try dumplings! They have a new years deal going on until the end of March where you can get 20% off phone and walk in orders. Be forewarned though that this deal is cash only (not noted anywhere on their mail in ads). I'm not sure that's the best idea during a pandemic but the dumplings are great! You get 16 for around $10 and they seem very fresh. What sets these apart in my view is the chewiness of the dough. I have lived in bridgeport for almost 2 years. I've gone to taste of canton, potsticker house, etc. While they're very good, none are as good as 4 seasons dumplings. First time we went, I got the sweet and sour chicken, friend got general tso's. Both were incredibly flavorful, a good fry, and the sauce is very good. Went back and got the beef and broccoli, while very good, was not incredibly flavorful, most places here it's about the same. lunch special is the top tier part of this place. I've yet to try the buns, boba, etc, but the lunch was very very good and c h e a p. Lunch was $8.50 w/ water. If I want Chinese this is where I'm going nowadays. read more

So disappointed! I ordered half of a whole crispy duck and this is what I got. A duck head chopped in half, multiple pieces of the neck, a duck leg, and 3-4 pieces of the chest. It seems like they were running low on crispy duck and decided to serve with bits and pieces leftovers. I don't think this dish is worth $18+ as the amount they gave me doesn't equivalent to half of a whole duck. Will not order from here again. read more

If you are looking to try two new Chinese dishes, then order the Beef Tendon (Fyi, price is $15.95. There is a misprint on yelp/grubhub where it says $9.95) and Lamb with Scallion and Onions. Both are tasty without being overpowering, and the beef tendon is prepared super tender. My mom loved both dishes. This place is absolutely fantastic. Venture outside of China town proper to this Bridgeport spot. Also, this is a great place to step away from Americanized Cantonese staples to more traditional Chinese fare that is still familiar to an American pallet. Also, the prices are about 20% less than Chinatown and 30% less than downtown counterparts respectively. I Recommend any dumplings, the salt & pepper tofu, Tomato & egg, and the cucumber salad. Recently went here with my fam to celebrate Lunar New Year. Usually we head to Dolo, which is our favorite but wanted to try something different but still have some great dumplings. I was a little skeptical when I walked in but it was clean and homey, which means the food must be great to earn such good reviews. The dumplings are northern style, which means lots of lamb and beef, which you can order a dozen at a time (small) or 18 (large). We ordered the lamb & carrot (delish), 3 flavor dumplings (good), the buckwheat & beef (interesting but would not order again) with a green bean stir fry to balance out all that meat. Overall it was great to try something new but Dolo is still my favorite for dumplings. i dinged one star because we asked for the lamb dumplings to be pan fried and the server tried to talk us out of it saying it would take 30 min. We wanted to try it anyway so told her to make to pan fried instead of boiled like the others. she ignored it and got it to us boiled anyway. To be fair, it was very busy and maybe she was confused, but since we specifically talked about it, I had expected her to remember. that was the only negative part of the experience. loved the fact that all the sauces were labelled and on the table. Will probably come back again, but for variety, would still hit Dolo first. read more

Great dumplings and good value. We like the Tianjin steamed pork Bao. The outside of the buns have an exceptional light texture and an almost sourdough like flavor. Have also enjoyed their dumplings. At about 10 bucks for 18 you'll be pretty happy. Warning: they answer the phone in Chinese and it can be slightly difficult to order. This place replaced our old favorite Homestyle Taste. We tried takeout once and liked the food (especially the big plate chicken), but somehow just never remember to go again. Until today. Dined in for the first time and we were very impressed with the food! So much so I think this may surpass its predecessor. We had sautéed Napa cabbage, moo shoo pork, lamb & dill dumplings and crispy duck. Everything was delicious and executed perfectly. The only minor quibble was the moo shoo pork didn't have wrappers, but the flavor was excellent. The dumplings are some of my favorite in the city and I grew up making and eating dumpling so trust my judgement :P the wrapper was not overly doughy and the filling full and juicy and flavorful. The cabbage had excellent wok-hei (perfect level of crisp & char). The crispy duck had perfectly crisp skin but the meat was still juicy. Yes the dining room isn't big on ambiance but the food was so good I can't wait to go back! read more
