Fantastic local bakery and sandwich shop. My boyfriend and I had lattes and sandwiches and will definitely be back. My salami sandwich was only $5; anywhere else in SF, and it would have been double for a sandwich of this quality and size. Super flavorful and high-quality ingredients. The bread is outstanding. I love that loaves are made by hand and with organic flour. We didn't feel bloated and lethargic after eating our sandwiches. It seemed so much easier to digest. Coffee was tasty too. So darn good! Ordered online and picked up sandwiches and day old pies. This is the new top choice for ordering lunch in the neighborhood.

This place was quaint, and i would go here again if i was in this part of town. It is really decorative and stylish, but most importantly the breakfast pastries were absolutely delicious! The chocolate croissant was buttery and warm, and we also had the ham and cheese croissant which was equally as delicious! The owner was very accommodating and you could just tell all the items were made with love-as cliche as that sounds it is true! We went early and it was fairly quick, and there was plenty of seating. Next time I want to stop for lunch because they have another section of the restaurant dedicated to a wine maker, and it looked like a cute nook to check out. Not a breakfast spot, more of a coffee and pastry spot. About $8 for coffee and pastry which is pretty fair. read more

My fiancée and I had 2 sandwiches for lunch: the famous 5 and the mike's and these were quite tasty. I would say I slightly prefer the mike's, but both were delicious and filling. For the quality of food, the great ambience of the place, and the price of just 11 dollars for those two sandwiches, this place is hands-down 5 stars. Going to have to come back for a night of pizza at Fox and Lion and wine at Gratta (same location). read more

Um..YUM! Just barely made it there by 2:00 today expecting to miss out the cinnamon roll I have been dreaming of. Cinnamon rolls are a childhood favorite and I haven't found a really good one in SF until now. They are moist, not too sweet and have great flavor. They remind me of the ones my dad used to make when I was a kid. I also grabbed a ham/cheese roll and loaf of whole wheat. They too were delicious! Can't wait to try pizza night! read more

What a find! My husband and I created our own foodie tour for my sister-in-law's birthday who loves baked goods and breads. We went to about 4 bakeries and hands down Xan DeVoss' artisan breads, savory pies and cinnamon rolls were amazing! You can taste the love and dedication it takes to make these delicious baked goods. Milling her own grain, I believe, is what takes this bakery over the top! Do yourself a favor and get to her place prior to 10:30am so you can get most of her selection. We bought out the rest of her savory pies and her sweet batard bread to take home. Oh, BTW, her fruit parfait with home-made oatmeal crunch and orange marmalade was exceptional too! This place has the BEST pizza in all of California! It is a hidden gem and I am glad to have had the chance to eat here while visiting.

The veggie sandwich is super fresh with crusty chewy bread, cheese that's almost creamy, and a crunchy tangy assortment of veggies... and it's 5 BUCKS! Had I read the reviews earlier, I would have picked up some bread, too. Found street parking easily. Will definitely be back at Fox and Lion. read more

SPECTACULAR. We get sandwiches from here at least once a week (special shout out to the Terry's sandwich and a hat tip to the frittata sandwich) because I crave these sandwiches. Fox and Lion has the kind of food you think about all week and you look forward to the next sandwich you get! We bring home a loaf of bread every week and enjoy cheese/avocado toast at home for the week. When we first moved into the neighborhood my husband came in almost every day for a sandwich and it never disappoints. Xan is wonderful and such a joy to talk to when we come in. Fridays are pizza day and we always enjoy picking up some slices or picking up an entire pie - both are delicious! We even just bought pizza dough once and made our own at home! This place is good for everything- sandwich, coffee, bread, pizza- you name it and its delicious. Also - super fairly priced! Follow their instagram because sometimes they also have special events! As legit as it gets! A super delicious and cozy bakery. Friday night is pizza night, and if you're within a 3-mile radius of here, you're going to be hard-pressed to find any better.
