Absolutely terrible place. They just want ur money and they will physically assault you in the process! I really thought I was going to enjoy Fox (Sat) night based on the music and the setting, and I wanted to enjoy it. However, the Manager and the Bouncer seemed very Incompetent and realized that it was so busy & they were going to close in 1.5 hr at this point so they would try to get as many people in and out to get as much money. I went with my bf and we went in first while waiting for his brother to arrive. We let the bouncer know as well as our waiter and ordered some appetizers and shots for all of us. His brother arrived about 20 mins later had two pieces of government issued I.D to prove his age. And before you think he had a fake, he didn't!!! You can save that fake I.D stuff for the high schoolers, we're damn near done university lol. And we would not waste our time & pre-ordered drinks for him knowing there's a possibility of him not getting in. After about 15 mins bouncer & manger apparently come to an agreement and say it's a fake. So my bf comes back, tells us we have to leave for them to give his brother his card back. That was fine since we weren't going to leave him anyway. I stand up get ready to chug my drink since we're paying for it. Next thing I know the bouncer races over to us, SLAPS the drink out of my hand so it breaks and I don't get to finish the drink I PAID FOR. I did not fight him on it but was like "what was that for?'' He accused me of giving drinks to my bfs brother. I go to drink some water right after and he tries to grab the drink out of my hand and then GRIPS my wrist and tries to DRAG me out!!!! Like what ??? I am a small 5'3 girl being pulled by a large heavy set man. What did he think I would/could do to him? The situation escalated too fast and I felt so disrespected and assaulted. I am well over 19, why should I get assaulted for finishing a drink that was paid for so I can leave your restaurant asap & continue my night ? Glass was everywhere. I was concerned for the girls sitting right behind me as the glass really could have hit them and hurt them. I talked to them, they were fine but said they didn't understand why the bouncer reacted the way he did towards me. They got $86 in about 40 mins. Think about how many people they do this to a night. We were unaware, but based on a lot of these other reviews it seems they added a tip on top of our balance which we did not know about. (Even after all of this we still left a tip for our waiter!!!). Our waiter was nice so I would much prefer all of the tip to go to him rather than this place. We were ready to spend money and eat food, they really would have gotten a few hundred if we stayed, what a shame. The manager (I think Greg) never even came over to explain why they thought the I.D was fake and why we had to leave. It also seemed like a major power complex for the bouncer. They will reply to this review and tell you things you want to hear/lies but its all to get your $$ at the end of the day. So disappointed. This is my first time in Toronto on a solo trip for a workshop weekend. I scoured where to go, ready to really treat myself to good food and drinks in a fun environment. I made a reservation at the bar a few days prior to arriving for 6:30pm. I always sit at the bar in restaurants, particularly while dining alone because no one pressures you to leave. I wanted a longer dinner so I ordered a cocktail, which was phenomenal. I had figured out that I'd have a steak dinner but prior to ordering, an employee informed me someone had bought out the bar for the evening beginning at 7pm, only 30 minutes after my reservation began. I took it on the chin and allowed them to seat me at a table. Apparently as I was a solo diner, I was given the worst table in the house, which is why, again, when dining alone, I sit at the bar because inevitably solo diners always get the worst tables and the worst service. Unfortunately this was no exception. My tiny table sat at the bottom of a small set of stairs and my seating choices were to be in the way of the wait staff's little corner wait station, or choose the other chair, which faced that corner and a large speaker. But I sat where they found me a table, trying to go with the flow. I sat there for 10 minutes with no service. The gentleman that informed me I'd have to move saw me and said he was glad to see I got table and mentioned he thought I'd left and how glad he was to see I did get seated. I told him I'd love some service, at which point he turned to a waitress at the wait station and it was clear she didn't want to take my table. I know they were busy and I could see I was being thrown in her lap but she then also made it clear to me that I was an inconvenience. I told her I'd look at the menu. She never returned. I finally walked out after waiting another 15 minutes. That was 10 minutes ago. I'm now at Figo. Didn't know what else to do. I absolutely did not want Italian but at least I'm being waited on here. *UPDATE: Someone named Allison responded within an hour or so of my review on this same Google review claiming to want to "make it right" and left an email address. I emailed her immediately, literally as I was sitting at Figo. It's now Sunday and I've not heard a word. All I can say is that it must be their empty way of making it look as if they're concerned about customer satisfaction when it's quite clear they're not. Don't fall for it. read more

I recently had a concerning experience with a delivery order from this restaurant. Upon receiving my order, I noticed that the liquor bottle was open and had a mismatched cap, which raised concerns about its integrity. The delivery bag arrived sealed, indicating that it had not been tampered with during transit. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, his response shifted from asserting that the bottle was fine to suggesting that the issue might have been with the delivery driver. Upon mentioning the sealed bag, he then changed his stance to needing to 'investigate this,' which suggested a lack of transparency and accountability from the outset. Given the unsatisfactory response and the unresolved nature of the incident, I've decided not to order from this establishment again. Overpriced, Inconsiderate, and Disruptive Visited this place recently, and I genuinely regret it. The food is mediocre at best - nothing you couldn't find elsewhere for a fraction of the price. The only reason they get away with their prices is the location, but even that's not worth it given the chaos they bring to the area. As I write this at 2 a.m. on May 18th, the music is still blaring, crystal clear even on the 40th+ floor of nearby buildings. It's been a known issue for ages, with countless complaints from residents (see this Reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/askTO/comments/1i371k9/deleted_by_user/) , yet they seem to have zero regard for the neighborhood. It's not just an occasional weekend burst - this is a regular disruption, completely ruining what was once a peaceful area. Save your money, your sanity, and your eardrums. This may be the second review I've ever written: A few friends and I flew in for the weekend from PEI to celebrate a birthday. We were looking for a spot with bottomless mimosas and came across Fox on John, and we were not disappointed! Food was great, atmosphere was awesome, but our server Maliq was the reason I'm leaving this review 2.5 months later after finding their business card in my bag. Maliq was awesome, personable, attentive, funny and kind. He gave us suggestions of places to go, things to do, he brought the birthday girl a flaming tiramisu. He also told us we didn't look forty, and was almost believable; so six stars for that. We come from a small island mainly fuelled by tourism, hospitality is a must. Maliq gets it. A few colleagues and I came in for lunch yesterday at Fox on John st. We were very delighted by our server Jasmin. She let us all know the daily specials as well as help me decide between Avocado or Tofu on me Beet Salad, I trusted her judgement and went with Avocado and OMG was she ever right! Ate every last bite tell I couldn't fit anymore. Just when I thought the experience couldn't get any better she let us know about the dessert special! Between the 4 of us we has the creme brulee and Tiramisu which we ate every last bite. Overall one of the best lunches I had in long time, which had a lot to do with our server Jasmin and the overall energy she had with our table. Food was superb but ? what really made the visit special ? was staff ! I had Met Lisa for the first time . Even though she was overwhelmed with customers; she still found time to make our visit grand. My last visit prior to today ? I had the pleasure to meet Becka. The fish n chips were quite good & at a fair price, and though the place was very busy on this pre-concert Friday evening, the service was pretty quick. But mostly, kudos are extended to manager JP who, after a waiter accidentally dropped a ketchup container which splashed on my shorts (I hadn't even noticed that part until JP came out soon after to check up on the mishap), this manager was very accommodating in seeing to doing whatever was necessary to make right on this unfortunate, albeit minor issue. Fox On John is near my new neighborhood​ and could be my new go to. I had the avocado toast with oranges, red onion, goat cheese and pistachio's (YUM) on my first visit, with a Canadian draft for $5 (can't go wrong, for this neighborhood​). On my second visit,​ I had the Phat fried rice, with chicken. It has become​ a staple to my diet now. "The Dude" and the old fashion made by Beenie are amazing. Great service, and friendly staff. I went to Fox and the Fiddle (First time) and had a wonderful experience. The caesar salad was awesome! The fresh bacon used is better then the imitation bacon used at some other restaurants. The food (burger and fries) was tasty and enjoyable! I would highly recommend it. The creme brûlée was good as well. The atmosphere was comfortable and staff were friendly. The restaurant was clean. we celebrated a birthday here at the all you can eat brunch, a large group of about 20. we were served by Skylar, and the service, the food, the vibes, the atmosphere... everything was IMMACULATE. Skylar did an amazing job, the service was attentive, efficient, friendly, and just on point overall. the price point was so affordable, the dj was great, the bottles were flowing. i will absolutely be back. Service was truly horrendous. We sat and waited at our table for a realistic 25 minutes before being greeted. We then waited another 15 minutes to receive drinks, including water. Food had clearly been sitting out for a while because it all arrived cold. We have been to this location before and had a wonderful experience around 2 years ago. This was my first visit to this pub. On a hot summer evening the place was refreshingly cool and the patio was humming. We ordered a simple meal...burgers with bacon and cheese and a side of fresh cut fries. The food and delicious. Our server, Levi, was friendly and efficient. The food was good overall. The chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries were solid. The spring rolls were cheap and tasty, while the fish and chips were decent but not remarkable.
