Lobster Pasta and Steak Ribeye Appetizer
    Leyla V.

I really wanted to like this place as they have a pretty lively patio and great deals at all times but unfortunately I was disappointed. Right off the bat, the customer service was subpar. From having to wait 15 minutes to be seated to the hostess ignoring our request for patio seating on our reservation, the experience did not start on a good note. Even after we were seated, there weren't any improvements as we waited a while to be acknowledged by the server and she wouldn't even check-in on us so we had to physically seek her out to get an additional order in. Drinks were watered down and I probably had the worst Aperol Spritz so far this summer (something about it just tasted strange). Food was okay but nothing special although I appreciated the ribeye steak appetizer. Overall, not the place I would be in a rush to visit again....

We had an excellent server named Danika who provided exceptional service from the time we sat down to when we left. She was humorous and such a joy! I was surprised by how quickly the food came out. I only took a picture of the French onion soup but my lobster pasta and my partners ribeye steak were both very good and worth the value (came for the $20.26 promotion). I would recommend! Definitely make a reservation if you're coming for the promo.

Pretty ok. They have a good selection of happy hour drinks and appetizers so cheap beers and bar rail. Does get full so try to make a reservation when you can. Ordered the Steak and Truffle Fries ($36) and it was solid. Good cut of sirloin and very good truffle fries. The horseradish dip was ok but probably not my favorite when it comes to steak dips. Feels like just above average for a pub-style steak but not quite enough to push it to a 4 star imo.

Had a reservation before our musical so we came by for a quick dinner. I got the chicken caesar wrap and a side of a salad. The wrap was quite saucy and there was a fair amount of chicken. The salad did come out with a more oily dressing. My friends shared apps and some were hit or miss. Fox on John gets very busy and crowded, making it very difficult to hear even the person sitting next to you. Service was good but felt that it was rushed because of the long line up which makes sense. For me, not my cup of tea but the food was decent and the servers were nice.

We came during their January special where everything on the menu is capped at $20.26. We got a last minute reservation which was necessary as the restaurant was packed. My friend and I both got the ribeye steak, and we subbed one of the mashed potatoes for fries. The steak was cooked well. The fries were not very crispy. Overall, the dish was exactly what I expected for a pub but for the price I was satisfied. They also have daily specials and happy hour specials which I may come back for in the future.

We went on the 10th Anniversary of Fox on John, on 2025-05-28. It is also called Fox and Fiddle. It is quite a popular pub. It was very full when we arrived, approximately 17:45. They give out free finger foods and drinks, including a tall glass of champagne at the entrance. If you were there for the free offerings without paying for food, you cannot sit on a table. We were only there for 20 mins. We managed to get 2 finger foods: Spring Roll and Shrimp. Both were delicious. We told a server that we didn't drink alcohol. She checked with a manager, and came back with a mocktail consisting of lychee, Mango, and grenadine; so delicious! The customer service was good. There were so many tables indoors and outdoors. They had a live DJ. Overall, it was quite noisy indoors. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-095

I celebrated a birthday at this restaurant. There was a January special with selected dish/drinks for $20.26. My table ordered ribeye steaks and being at that discounted price is so rare for Toronto! Quality was consistent for both dishes and a plus is that service was very quick. I personally enjoyed the dimmer lighting at this restaurant... great for date nights!

We came for lunch several weeks ago when we were in town for a concert, and as much as I love trying someplace new every time I visit, I'll be very tempted to make a repeat visit here instead. The food is excellent. We both had the ribeye appetizer, which was just the right amount of steak. It was perfectly cooked to order, with a creamy horseradish sauce. He had regular fries. I got the truffle fries. It was served with some sort of tangy aioli I loved. The salted caramel old fashioned is great. My only disappointment is that they didn't have a different cocktail I wanted to try that was apparently a seasonal offering. Service was very attentive. The ambiance was fine in the afternoon. Not too noisy at all.

Fox on John may be popular for dinner or drinks after work but did you know they have a good brunch menu too? We got to try their brunch dishes and found them pretty good! They have eggs benny, chicken and waffles and so much more. We also like the attentive service and their ambiance. I must say this is a great place for a date night or get together with friends and family.

Been here a few times on the patio and it's always a great vibe! Great view of the CN tower and a lively place. The inside is quite small and with very loud music but much more chill on the patio. Server was tough to find at times and the drinks can take a while, but understandable because it was so busy.

Celebrated my anniversary here on a cold snowy Friday night Vibe was great (different from other Fox), love DJ with mood lighting. Service was great from my sweet server, managers came to attend to our needs too. It was their 20.25 January special too so we got a bottle of wine and lots of food. The sweet server even got us sparkling for our celebration. The food was overall great however, I found a hair I'm one of my dish but the manager and our server was very apologetic and made up for our evening. Overall, great experience, reservations highly recommended.

I am in complete agreement with the average rating of 3.2, and should have trusted Yelp to be more accurate than Google reviews (8000 reviews, average is much higher at 4.6). The inside has a typical bar atmosphere, football playing in the background, varied seating, lively and all the tables full. They also decorated for Christmas which adds to the ambiance. They were turning away walk-ins so I'm glad we had a reservation. For dinner we were lucky to coincide with Wednesday $15 pastas and their happy hour menu before 7pm. Off the happy hour menu we had the bang bang shrimp (5 pieces for $8). It was crispy with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. We also has the broccoli ($6) which was not as good. It was seasoned unevenly, with some pieces very salty, others weirdly sweet. And all the pieces were wet. Portion sizes were very small. For the mains, I had the $15 lobster pasta which was quite good, especially for the price. The sauce was rich, there were some chunks of seafood, the portion was a healthy size, and though the pasta was a bit overcooked, all in all it was a solid option. The Christmas dinner was $30, and was a bit disappointing. It came with cranberry sauce but no gravy, and the stuffing was just cubed up pieces of bread with butter. Food therefore left something to be desired, but the atmosphere was lively and the service was friendly.

Came to the Fox on John as it's close to work and we had a lunch to celebrate the holiday season! Food was alright.... atmosphere was great! Likely would try a different restaurant next time though! The restaurant was packed so you definitely need a reservation!

We ended up sitting at the bar since we were walk-ins. It is also a very low light restaurant, especially at night. so it might not be the best place for older adults or those who are visually impaired. Service was good, however, we were somewhat forgotten at times since we were tucked away in a dark corner. We ended up ordering the Truffle Fries, the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, the Korean Chicken, and the Vodka Pie. The truffle fries were crisp and plentiful. We added sausage to the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, and it was delicious paired with the pizza. The Korean Chicken were bite sized and flavourful as well. However, The vodka Pie haunts me in my dreams. I think I crave this pizza about every week. The pizza at King Taps has one of the best crusts I've ever had, and the vodka sauce is to die for. It's sad to know that this pizza will rotate out, I'd definitely try it before it leaves! I will be back for the Vodka Pie, mark my words!

We started with the Brussels sprouts which is always a great choice from here. Crispy on the outside and not an overwhelming Brussels sprout taste. This is likely because there is a generous sprinkling of grated parm and a great amount of dip. We tried the crispy tuna sushi. The tuna was beautifully marinated, so flavourful. And the sushi was nice and crispy. The vodka pie was a seasonal item and when we saw it listed, we knew we needed to try it. The sauce- amazing, the press was nice and flaky and light and really tasty. And the soccer Sada added nice saltines and flavour without being too overwhelming. For happy hour, the apps and pizzas were $5 off, and the ranch water was $5. I'd come back for the pizza alone! Jeans was our waitress and she was great!

Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!

On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
