Went here because of google! They said they had the best Caesar drink. We made reservations for our last night. We could not even find it on the menu. It was on the brunch menu and when it came it was a huge disappointment! I should have checked Yelp first. Maybe the food was good but the drink was so bland and they did not even bother to put any dressings o . The waiter said they were out of olives, on a Saturday night? The name of the game is consistency. The Fox on John has it and doesn't, kind of confusing. The drinks are awesome, as are the appetizers, entrees and desserts, but the menu changes with the seasons. This can be a great when you go back and order the same items. In my case: Appetizer - Salmon Cake / Smoked Salmon Salad Main - Stuffed chicken with truffled mash potatoes / Porcini Mushroom Pasta Dessert - Tiramisu The Smoked Salmon Salad, Stuffed chicken and mushroom pasta still remain, as well as the Tiramisu, but unfortunately the Salmon Cake is gone. If you have a favorite menu item they are great at meeting the same standards each time you visit, however if you like a certain cocktail, or perhaps an app/entree, there is a chance with the next seasonal menu change it will be gone. read more

I went here my first night and first time ever in Toronto and they did not disappoint!! The food and drink was good! The only thing that was awkward was the outdoor seating area because it is a little snug! The DJ played great music and kept me dancing all night!! Our server was amazing and very helpful in making sure I got exactly what I wanted and had a great time! If you are ever in Toronto I definitely say give this place a try! The restaurant is running a promo for the full month of Jan that caps everything on their menu at $20.22. Their menu is actually reasonably priced so not many items were over $20 by much. We went for the best deals which were the ribeye steak, salmon, and lobster pasta. Below are my ranks from fav to least. 1) salmon - the fish was well cooked and well seasoned and I really enjoyed the coconut basmati rice on the side. The veggies looked a little sad tho 2) ribeye steak - we tried it on two separate occasions. Ordered medium rare both times, but first time it was undercooked and second time it was a little over cooked since the steak was thinner. I enjoyed the demi glacé sauce and the mashed potatoes but the quality of the meat was avg. 3) lobster pasta - the lobster was almost non-existent.. which was quite disappointing Overall, I was satisfied with the food at the discounted price. However, I don't think It's worth it at full price. The flavours are there but the quality is lacking. Maybe it will be better when it's dine in vs take out. I had wanted to try this place for a while. I had seen the breakfast special on an insta ad and thorough it might be worth a visit. The price was excellent, the service was 4.5 /5 some of the servers seemed snooty. The food came fast and it was pretty good quality. Maybe a bit too greasy for my liking. We had to pay $2 extra for rye toast pp. Plus to sub a salad instead of tater tot's it was $2 which was fine. But I had to hear it from my dad who complained it was just Lettuce with too much dressing and one cherry tomato. You can see from the photo the lighting was red... which is cool in the evening when your tipsy. And maybe some people that are hungover might like that. I personally want to see what I am eating and my surroundings. I also had to hear about how gross the washroom was, from my dad. I hope they keep the kitchen cleaner... read more

Went to Fox on John on a Sunday for Brunch. I made reservations for two a few hours prior on Open Table and was able to get in. We arrived a little before our scheduled time and didn't have to wait long before being seated. We selected outdoor seating and was greeted by our server promptly. The music was at an appropriate volume, the seats were comfy and the restaurant looked clean. From the brunch menu, I ordered the steak and eggs. The dish consisted of steak, eggs, tater tots, fruit, toast, and compote. And I got a red sangria for my drink. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium well and it was well done. They didn't have A1 sauce for me to add to my steak. The server did try and brought out some type of horseradish spread but I was not feeling that so I didn't use it. The eggs were perfect. The tater tots were perfect, the toast was buttered evenly and my sangria was refreshing. I love that all of the fruits that was used for garnish and also the fruit that came with my meal, was fresh. All of the staff worked together and everyone was super friendly. I loved the energy at the restaurant. I recommend and I will definitely return. read more

I've been to Fox on John quite a few times and the best things I like about the restaurant are its location and the space. The restaurant is located right at downtown near King/John so it's super convenient to get to, and it has a spacious patio and a large indoor bar. I personally prefer the patio a lot more so I would recommend you to visit for weekend brunch, and you can get a view of the CN tower! Food wise a lot of the items are hit or miss, but the cocktails are where it's at! They have a lot of refreshing and colourful cocktails and we enjoyed every drink we ordered. After being here a few times and trying a variety of the food items, I would recommend trying the salads, chicken carbonara, stuffed chicken, pizzas, and kimchi fried rice. The desserts are pretty mediocre so you're better off going somewhere else. Service is decent too, but I do find it hard to flag down the server at times when it's dinner rush or weekend brunch time. Overall, I would recommend coming to Fox on John for drinks and watching sports games. It's a great spot for date nights or hanging out with friends too, but if you're looking to get food, consider only ordering the items that I listed above. read more

We decided to try this place for brunch after seeing it pop up on Yelp. I went with a group of eight, and we were pleased to find a decently sized restaurant with lots of decorations and both indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was super chill and really helpful, answering all our questions about the menu and giving us some tips about the city. The restaurant offers a decent variety of food, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I ordered the steak and eggs plate, which comes with tater tots, eggs, steak, oranges, and toast. For the gluten-free toast, they served a gluten-free burger bun. Surprisingly, the bun was better than most gluten-free breads I've had, but it didn't quite go with the rest of the plate, so I didn't finish it. Overall, the food and drinks were good, and they had a wide variety of gluten-free options, which is always a big plus for me. The restaurant manager mentioned that the place gets livelier at night, so we came back to check out the nightlife. They played great music, and the food was still good, but it was basically a restaurant with loud music. There wasn't really any space for dancing or active movement, just a heads-up. I have NEVER in my life thought I would be disgusted by a brunch spot but here I am, sharing the disappointment. My friend and I choose this place because google reviews were popping. 4.5 stars on google reviews but they have obviously not tried the brunch. The chicken from the chicken and waffles tasted rubbery and like it was reheated. The steak in my steak Benedict tasted like it was cooked in a microwave. Even the muffin was like cardboard We also got the bottomless mimosas which were fine. It would be extremely hard to mess that up lol Overall ambiance and vibes of the place are beautiful and that is probably the only reason they got two starts instead of one. Good vibe, good music and good food, but the service is kinda iffy. I brought my mom here on a Wednesday evening after work. There was another group ahead of us waiting to be seated, but there was no hostess at the front. The hostess took some time to come back and seat both parties. We ordered fairly quickly but it took the food a while to come out, around 20-30 minutes. We had to eat our food very quickly as we were catching a show right after. The tip options when paying start at 20%! It goes 20, 22, then 25. I went to enter in a custom tip on the machine, and the server was staring at the machine the whole time. We went here on an early spring day. The patios recently were just allowed to open and operate so this was one of our first dine outs in a long while. It was lightly raining during the time so it was great that they had seating locations outside that was still covered with some roofing above. What stands out early is the exceptional customer service they provide. They lit up the outdoor heating right away for our table because it was getting a little cold outside due to the rain. We were checked up on to see how we are doing or if we want to order anything more for just the right amount of frequency. The servers also had no issue with our constant requests for wet wipes, napkins, water refills, or whatever. A nice detail on dining here is that many outdoor seating locations offer a view of the CN tower. With clear weather conditions it is perfectly visible. It can be obstructed if it is raining or during foggy weather. For orders we had the Butter Chicken, Fish & Chips, Phat Fried Rice, and some Nachos. The food presentation was good. Taste was alright. The butter chicken was average. I have had better butter chicken in a lot of other places. My only complain is that I was disappointed with the nachos. I understand that the weather might be a little cool during that rainy spring day, but the nachos got stiff and hard to eat a little too quick. The cheese they used made it that the whole thing just stuck together and difficult to take out pieces to eat. The taste and experience can be better. Walked in for brunch today, greeted right away and immediately seated. Thats where the service ends. My husband and I noticed 4 servers, a few occupied tables and saw that everyone around us were waiting for drinks, since there wasn't anything other than water on people's tables. We weren't that lucky. After 20 minutes of not being acknowledged or offered water, we walked. The maitre-d who seated us looked right at us as we left and said nothing. I've been here many times before and never experienced this level of indifference with a full staff. We're now just up the street spending our cash elsewhere at a place that gives a sh*t about actually serving customers. We're never coming back. Neither should you. read more

A British pub vibe with decent breakfast. I got the up the stream which came with smoked salmon and turkey bacon. The fruit compote and the tater tots were by far the stars of the show. I also tried some of my friends breakfast poutine which was amazing. Unfortunately, the americano felt a little watered down and was a whopping $5. The service was sort of slow as well. Great location and great vibes. They had amazing music all night. We came here for the Jameson hour which had pretty great deals. Knocked off one star because service is slow. Took us forever to get our drinks and fries. Also we requested some sort of aoli with our fries and they charged us $1.50 for a tiny amount of aoli. Come on now! I got the signature serve and it was ok. What we thoroughly enjoyed was the Jameson popsicle which was minty and boozy. I can't wait to come back for their $7 early bird breakfast which sounds like a pretty sweet deal but hopefully that will be faster service! :) read more
