The only positive comment I can make about the ordeal was the agent, Maria Ramirez, who helped us at the pickup counter at the Burbank airport. She was wonderful! So helpful, informative, and willing to take ownership of the situation. The minivan we picked up was in very poor condition. When we tried to load our luggage for our trip, the hatch wouldn't open. By then the rental counter was closed and Customer Service was closed until 5am the next day. We had to wait until the next morning, when we were supposed to be leaving for our trip, to try to contact someone for help. After waiting on hold with customer service for 45 minutes, we were told to return the car at the Burbank airport and go back to the rental counter for a new minivan. We did as instructed. When we finally got to the rental counter, Maria was there to help us again - fortunately. She called upstairs to the booth where we dropped off the car and told them not to close out the ticket because it was an exchange (which we had also mentioned when we dropped it off). She told us to go back up and they would give us the new minivan. We went up only to be told they had closed the ticket and that we needed to go back to the rental counter - again - for a new contract. We went back. Maria apologized and got the agent in the booth on the phone to instruct him on how to get us on the road without having to do all the paperwork again. She told him to bring us the new minivan. We went back up to the booth. We then had to wait another 20 minutes while they "washed the car". When we got home to load up for our trip (4 hours after we had planned on leaving), we found a hairclip, crumbs, and some trash in the center console. So much for them washing the car and taking extra sanitizing precautions during COVID. The whole experience was so upsetting that I will gladly pay twice the cost with a different rental car company in order to avoid ever having to deal with Fox again. read more

First the pressure to upgrade the car, then came the song and dance for full tank of gas and more. Despite resistance, he managed to put it on the contract. When I returned to ask him to remove all these upsell charges, he still insisted I was making a mistake. I can just go on and on about how awful this entire experience was - the worst customer service, the most unhelpful representatives, didn't have our car ready (and they told us we can rent a different car for now and come back when it's ready... surprise, surprise - when we returned the next day, no cars were available and we were reprimanded for thinking this was possible in the first place), dirty car, poor selection of cars, etc. Just save your money and do Ubers or spend a little more and do a different car rental. read more

Do not rent from here. My estimated price online was $106 for a simple 1.5 day rental. When I got to the desk the lady, while pleasant and nice, swiftly moved me through the process and did not disclose the additional charges. She asked me if I wanted "the upgraded package include for insurance" or just the basic. I told her whatever the basic was that I indicated and paid for online. Then when it came time to sign on the small electronic pad she just pointed and moved me along quickly so I didn't see that an additional $60+ was added for a "basic" package. Then on top of that they processed a total of $250 in charges to my credit card after I turned my car in (with another $50 in pending that I assumed will drop off). I rented a van to move my son from Tahoe to Los Angeles. Spent an entire day waiting for roadside assistance which never came. The key fab got cold on the hybrid toyota sienna van I rented for $60 more as an upgrade. The car wouldn't start and the tires were bald and got stuck on ice. They won't discount or reimburse the extra $260 I had to pay to get a tow truck to extract it from the ice. Horrible customer service. Paid over $100 a day for a prepaid rental that was supposed to be $48 a day. They charged me an additional $38 for my son to be a driver. Please don't rent from this company. Major headache and if the car gets stuck or the key fab gets cold an entire day will be wasted. read more

My husband reserved a car for me and said I would pick up by 630pm. I was at a fan convention and did not get out until almost 10pm. When I got to the hotel (extremely tired and not looking forward to a drive to Indio), the desk person informed me that I was out of my 3 hour pick up window and now the price was $25 more. WHAT??? Is this - I am going to be ornery to you fee? He had me over a barrel as it was 10pm on a Sunday and no other car places were open. He badgered me a lot and even talked down to me as to why I was not signing for the extra insurance. I gave him the "stop it now" look, but he had no people skills and kept on. The car I received had 75k miles on it and tons of small dings and scratches. They were not empathetic, nor helpful at all. A gentleman was there at the same time I was, he had rented a Fox car at LAX, left the lot and then got a flat tire. The tow truck brought him to Burbank (no clue why) and then they were ornery replacing his car. I have not observed such rudeness in a LONG time.. I will not rent from them again. For the love of god, do not rent from here under any circumstances. I didn't have anything go horribly wrong but even the ordinary uneventful rental experience was grueling and painful every step of the way. Even in the base case scenario it was a bad experience. This is the kind of company that will actually CHARGE YOU FOR RETURNING THE CAR EARLY. Desk agent behaved like an unprofessional high school dropout, rapping to himself throughout my checkout process, and answering all my questions with "I don't know that's what the computer says". When I returned the car I was charged more money and the guy at the drop off had no clue why and told me to call the office, which leads me to my next point. There is always a 30+ min hold when contacting customer service for any reason. Even for very routine ordinary questions you have to wait forever to get on the line with someone. Unacceptable. So to recap, nothing went horribly wrong, but the most basic ordinary steps were grueling and painful to experience. You get what you pay for. I rented a car for a one way drop off at this location. Total with everything was for $58. The location I picked up the car told me everything was paid for on the internet site I used and they had me sign to refuse the extra insurance, acknowledge the deposit, and to agree nobody else would drive the car. The printed out receipt had some extra charges on there, such as an $80 drop fee which I was not told about. I unfortunately did not see this until after I left their location with the car. I brought this issue up at this rental location in Burbank when I dropped the car off. The employee and manager seemed like they could care less. They told me I already signed for those charges even though that was not the case. They said there was nothing they could do. There was absolutely zero customer service here. When I said I wasn't paying that fee, they told me I'd be placed on a no rental list. I ended up contacting corporate who said the price I paid with the booking site was the total price for the rental. Despite the receipt having that extra fee on it, I was never charged for it. Clearly what the employees told me at this location was flat out wrong. They apparently don't even know their own procedures. This location is far from what customer service is. The associates are rude. I booked my rental online. To my surprise hiding fees . $150 deposit plus the rental fee , yet refuse to take a debit card Yet in their website States otherwise. I tried rebooking the rental. They wanted a 400 deposit plus rental. Again wouldn't take a debit card since I was local. According to the associates a boredin pass was needed in order to book the rental with a debit card. Rented a car in Oakland and drove it to several cities then returned it here. I had a Jeep Cherokee pretty comfy for all the driving I did. Returning here is a huge pain in the ass! First off Fox is at the very top of the airport structure, and it you mess up, its back out of the airport and through again. Ugh. One star is pretty generous for this location. We had a reservation booked days in advanced, itinerary and confirmation printed out and everything! Not only did it take more than 40 minutes for a shuttle to arrive and pick us all up at the airport, the shuttle they sent was small so we couldn't really all fit in the shuttle! We arrived at the place, lines were super long and the customers all looked frustrated at the representatives. Apparently, the company "cancelled" our reservation because it was 5 minutes past minute after midnight after our pickup time was around that time. Then they came up with more excuses and said they could come up with another reservation but they would have to add a $400 deposit on top of the $300 we were paying for the 4 day rental. $700 for a weekend rental?!?? We told them to cancel and we sat on the seats to look for other options. Then the representative screamed at us from behind the counter if we were booking with them or not and stomped off when we told him no. How rude and unprofessional! We ended up going to another company and booked it right then and there within minutes! The only reason this place gets a star is because the shuttle driver drove us to the other company we booked with and was really polite and friendly, otherwise this place would have gotten none at all! read more

If you want the dirt cheap cars, use Fox. But be prepared to wait in long lines to check in, face the possibility of them running out of cars, dealing with employees who have no ability to solve problems, and generally waste an hour or more of your day. I made an online reservation, arrived and had to wait 30 minutes just to check in to find out they don't have a car in my class. So the easy solution is to upgrade me to a car they do have. Nope. Instead they told me to wait for at least an hour until they "get cars in". When I asked why did they let me book the car if they didn't have cars available, he said they just let you book any car even when they don't have them. OK that is idiotic. So I again explained to him I would not wait an hour and I would be happy with any car in my class or above. And again he told me I would have to wait an hour to get my car. Anyways this goes on for a while, I finally get my car after an hour and a half. We picked up a Jeep Wrangler, cigarette smell greeted us upon opening the door. While driving in the rain, we found out that the windshield wiper wasn't working and water coolant was empty! We called the customer service and roadside assistance, took AT LEAST 45 minutes just to answer. I believe they DO NOT DO maintenance on their cars as what other reviews mentioned. Make sure you check the car upon picking up if you don't want to be stuck with such hassle. And double check the paperworks before signing anything such as damages, scratches etc. Customer service advised us to replace wiper and will be reimbursed but it's been over a week and haven't heard anything from them. read more

On the email confirmation they did put 12:00 noon time pick it up . And we were stuck in the traffic and when we get there. DO NOT RENT FROM FOX RENTAL CARS in Burbank! I requested a rental car thought Holiday Car, and I paid them for the rental. When I arrived at the Fox counter in Burbank, I was told that I had not paid for the rental, even though I had my paperwork from Holiday car rental, that clearly stated at the top of the paperwork that it was paid in full. So I had to pay an additional $300 to Fox in Burbank to get the car. Then it took the person working behind the counter about 30 minutes to get to the counter, while we waiting with several other customers for someone to help us. Then when we finally got our car, it was filthy. Gum on the dash board and the steering wheel was sticky. It was a horrible experience. I did contact Holiday and Fox, but so far no response. So I spoke with someone at their chat line and he told me that I should have talked to a manager. That does not help me at all. read more

I feel Fox rental car is pulling a scam on me! I reserved a compact car at the Burbank airport. I called the day before my rental and asked if I could pick it up after the time I had chosen. I was told there was a 6 hour window in which to pick up the car. I asked if there would be any additional charges and was told, "no." The rep I spoke to said they would put the information in the notes I would be picking up the car later. I just went to get the car within the six hour window and was told the compact car was gone because I didn't pick it up within one hour and now I have to pay more for an SUV. I mentioned I had called and asked about any price increase and was told there would be none. I was told the 6 hours just guarantees a car it doesn't guarantee what car type and if the available car type costs more I have to pay it. I called specifically to avoid any additional costs and now Fox is scamming me. This morning, 6/29/22 I responded to Fox's request to contact customer service. Let's see what happens. If I was the manager of a business that had terrible reviews I would wonder how I could correct it. I look on Yelp and see a pattern of people who feel Fox tries to scam them. We used the "last minute" promo code we got in an email this weekend for an SUV rental. When my husband picked up the car on Sunday, they told him it was a reservation made the same day (um... your email that day said "last minute deals!") -- so he "could wait for a car to be washed or upgrade to a bigger car and pay more." A total bait and switch. The car was fine and we decided to return it that night so we didn't have to come back the next morning. The next morning I realized I left a very expensive Tom Ford pair of sunglasses in the car door handle when we returned our rental. So I called them and left a message on their "lost and found" extension - that was two days ago. No one has bothered to call me back. Not only did my rental costs us $30 more, but I lost a $400 pair of glasses. It's very annoying because their phone line specifically calls out a "lost and found" extension - as if they have mechanisms in place to handle found items. I rent cars all the time - we rented the last three weekends on a row - won't be renting from Fox again. The employees are nice, but this experience was less than stellar. read more

Super cheap car rentals from Burbank Airport are hard to find. Fox is at the terminal and although my Elantra had 58,000 miles and lots of scratches and dings on the body, the interior was clean and everything worked. Just be sure you do a thorough walk-around and note any body damage prior to leaving. And never pre-pay for gas at any rental agency - it's a rip off. Me and my friend had a terrible terrible experience, made us wait for full four hours when we were just there to pick up a car that was already booked. Plain and simple. But "SUPERVISOR ADEL" was not concern or helpful at all from the very beginning! Very unprofessional, very rude and obviously do not uphold whatever his position is. Arrogant 5 stars. Violated the booking contract that states no additional charge should be given if rental shop does not have any of the booked vehicle made by client and anything available should be given at no additional charge. But boy SUPERVISOR ADEL was like a kid ready to fight his customers nothing about him was helpful. He was very firm not to release any car just cause he wanted us to pay for an upgrade which was twice the price! Even the main guy releasing and receiving vehicles was confused because he said there were cars available. We were at the place around 8am, left around 12pm with another rental company. Because ADEL only wanted to release a car we booked 8am in the morning at 7pm! Imagine that. And this guy runs this office? No wonder this rental shop has poor reviews! Terrible, stay away!!! If you are stuck renting from this unprofessional, rip-off location you must BEWARE. They will fill out the damage form for you and get you out the door as fast as possible. You will check for any damage, but likely may miss something since you didn't fill out the form and don't have a way to add to it. Then when you return the car, they will try to have you fill out a final "Accident Report" to steal money for damage you never caused. Very poorly run with managers having odd meetings with staff in the background in hush voices that makes it seem like something is amiss. I highly recommend not renting a car from them. I had my friend Emma use carrentals.com to book a car through them for our LA trip. She prepaid for the car on carrentals.com. There were multiple issues, as we dealt with Maira inside at the desk, and she was very unpleasant. First, my friend forgot the card she used online, but had another credit card to use for the hold. Maria stated that she would have to charge her credit card that she had for a new rental and that she would have to go through carrentals.com to get refunded. Next the car that was prepaid for was not available. My issue with this is, when someone prepays for a car, something in that category should be available. As prepaying and reserving is different. The only thing they had was SUV's and Mini Vans. As my friend and I didn't want neither of those because we both prefer driving sedans, plus dealing with parking and gas we did not want a SUV. There was one mid size vehicle that Maria said we could have for the price of the full size car. I told Maria we should not be paying for a full size car but getting down graded and they should adjust the price to a mid size vehicle. She stated, "they would not do that. But if we wanted to wait for the manager, we could maybe get the most of $3 off." That was just ridiculous. So we accepted the suv. When we go to pick up the suv. There is only one and a bunch of mini vans. Then all of a sudden that was no longer available and were told we were going to have to take a van. We said, no at this point and the guy (did not get his name) in the pick up area wasn't that pleasant either said, there wasn't anything else. We stated, Maria just gave us a SUV. After I asked to speak with a manager. He said, let me go check what is coming in. There was a SUV that had just been washed and was returning to the lot. Besides these issues, it was the unpleasant attitudes of the workers that my friend and I will not be renting from them in the future. read more

Every step of the way with Fox is problematic. Stay away from them. Their customer service has a beyond horrendous wait time. They spin you in circles if you need to modify your schedule as I had to with a train delay. The website didn't work so I contacted them in person. I changed the schedule twice because of the train delay and they cancelled the wrong agreement. I just grabbed the car anyway. I got charged $240 for a six hour rental. Fees upon fees as well. I have had better luck with other car rental companies so I learned my lesson. read more

I came in looking for a car and literally the gentleman well he want a gentleman the rude lazy front desk guy, looked like he hated being there and it was a nuisance if he had to do his job ! My car was vandalized 6/4/2023, stolen catalytic, my insurance had not responded due to being Sunday I have no other choice I did not want to miss work, I remember at 3:00pm today the Fox in Burbank rents cars 7 days a week, so I made reservation online and paid 109.17 for 3 days, for a full-size car, but you know when something is too good to be true. I arrived there a gentleman states, "The system should not have taken the reservation, but we have a Kona for $249.00 or 4runner for $298.00" but then he adds "I will be taking a bullet". then I said don't talk to me like that like don't act as though you're doing a favor. So, then this young woman intervenes who claims to be the manager said, "We can refuse service to anyone".
