Omg this place is Now my favorite date night place. Food is very good!!…read moreHave to make a RESERVATION I found out the hard way! Drove 1/2 hr away. Thinking of the Mouth Gazum I was about to have only to get there and find out there was a 1 1/2 hr wait, we were going to a Show and wanted a bite to eat before going. The place was packed no place to sit and enjoy a cocktail!! So lesson Learned Book ahead Way ahead and ask to sit up on the loft!!

Honestly, Wooden City really lives up to its hype. It's an upscale spot right in downtown Spokane,…read morebut still feels warm and lively instead of overly formal. Definitely one of the best-quality restaurants in the city, where every dish was thoughtfully made and packed with flavor. What we ordered: Starters: - Spring Salad: Super fresh and well-balanced. The snap peas were crisp, with strawberries added for sweetness, and the goat cheese + pistachios gave it a creamy, nutty contrast. The lemon & tarragon vinaigrette tied everything together with a light, herby flavor. - Jerk Cauliflower: Crunchy cauliflower with Caribbean spices with a creamy jerk sauce, good as a side Appetizers: - Peel 'n' Eat Shrimp: Really juicy and spicy from the Cajun spice. There's butter to dip in but I found it too greasy and prefer lemon instead. - Blistered Hungarian Peppers: Smoky pepper with some sweetness and savory from the sausage and cheddar. Served with a toasted focaccia that soak up all the sauce. Main dishes: - Chicken Schnitzel: One of the must-orders. Crispy, golden breading, super tender inside. The lemon & caper butter sauce added acidity and richness that elevated the whole dish. Yoy have to order extra because it's never enough for the table. Yes, it's that good. - Marbled Duroc Pork Chop: Another favorite . Juicy and tender, with 'nduja salsa brava bringing a spicy depth, while lemon tahini and marcona almonds added creaminess and crunch. I always missed tasting this dish like my first time - Beet Ravioli: Earthy and slightly sweet flavor, nice texture but I hate goat cheese so I'm not really a fan of this dish - Pesto Bacon Pizza: Delicious crunch, loved the combo of mozzarella and gorgonzola, kind of creamy with a bit of funk. Balsamic do help balance and gave it a sweet tangy flavor, or else it would be too heavy for me (yes, not a pizza fan) Drinks & Dessert - Not Mai Tai mocktail: very aesthetically looking drink, but a bit too sweet to my liking - Apple crisp: cozy and warm, with baked apple & pecan crumble and served with vanilla ice cream on top. Delicious ice cream. - Pumpkin cheesecake: My 3rd favorite of the night, I still dream about it!! Rich, smooth, and perfectly spiced, you shouldn't skip this!!! That said, I do have to take away a couple points for timing. Our foods took 45 mins to come out even though I had reservations and note the menu items via the email, and the wait time between each dish was also... very confusing. It broke the flow of our meal. But once the food hit the table, it was hard to stay mad, so I forgave them.

They are like overly fancy, to the max pickle. I'm not saying it's a pickle, because they are not "pickled", but, but, how do I say it....fresh, crunchy, tasty, with a good "kick". The flavor is abundant. The pepper lingers on your tongue after you finish. Glory! Try it with a beer. I'm telling you. You will be satisfied with this starter. This is all I ate. I'm losing weight. Have to look good for my new lady. BTW- great ambiance. Large hole-in-wall. Dimly lit. People talking. Not loud. Good energy. Lots of different kind of whiskey. And other spirits. 4 good beers on tap. Several imported or mico-brew beers. Full bar. Wine, etc. Staff is pleasant and efficient. I had my dish 3 minutes after ordering. Like busy bees. Kitchen is wide open for viewing. I like that touch. TV at the bar. Two high chair sections, one at the bar. Lots of seating. Good temperature in the restaurant. I like this place. My favorites are the steak salad, the chicken curry, amaze balls, and any burger. The craft cocktails are perfectly proportioned. Can't say enough about how good the food is. Excellent friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Wiley's Bistro 421 W Main Ave, Ste 104 Spokane What We Ordered: * Love Bun must order every single time. Spicy heat, crunchy bread, cheesy goodness... my favorite. * Prawns are exactly what you'd expect. * Smoked Mozzarella Baguette savory, garlicky, dip-happy bread vibes. * Beet Salad is a full 10/10. Fresh, balanced, and memorable. * Wedge Salad is classic and satisfying. * Ravioli Entrée no portobello; subbed with cheese ravioli, and it worked beautifully. Creamy, peppery, parmesan goodness. * Braised Short Ribs fork-tender, rich, drenched in a delicious wine gravy. * Mud Pie coffee ice cream vibes with Aztec fudge, cookie crumble, chocolate, and whipped cream. Service was fantastic! - Wiley's Old fashioned served in a bowl of ice makes this a drink to remember. I typically prefer Woodford, but this is made with Makers. I loved how cold this drink was and it was delicious! - Their dirty martini was equally delicious and ice cold. It was very dirty and blue cheese stuffed olives were a plus. - the love bun was to die for- definitely a treat l, filled with ooey gooey cheese and a solid spice from the jalapeño. - the ravioli was delicious- hearty, filling and flavorful, served with a generous portion of chicken on top. - prawn phad thai was a gamble and not your typical fast order noodle dish. This flavorful dish was beautifully presented with ample prawns. It was extra saucy and a on the sweet side, which I didn't expect for phad thai but was glad I tried . I'm not sure I'd call it phad thai and that's probably the disconnect. It's more of a veggie and prawn noodle dish with a small Asian flair, definitely not a glamorous name , haha! Dessert The crème brûlée is the dessert winner - the citrus flair was light and refreshing. The mud pie was just ok. Lots of ice cream on a cookie crust but not sure I'd call it mud pie.

Their menu is very interesting, it definitely tells a new American story with a lot of influence, but holds traditional to a new American style. The service is incredible. Everyone seems so happy and alive. Every single thing that we got was perfect. The port flight was quite a steal at $20. We were excited to try some different items, but were even more thrilled when it came out with some amazing chocolate. The bread puffs that come before the meal are to die for, and we got a taquito appetizer that was super filling, fresh, vibrant, and a little unique too. I wish we didn't live all the way across the country! This is a must stop in Spokane for a lovely and memorable meal.

Yes, the chicken meat was so flavorful, and so tender...never experienced something like this. I told the bartender to give compliments to the chef. Behold-one of the chefs came out to greet my GF and I. Now, I got to say...you get what you pay for. It's not cheap. But, if you have money, or if you want to make an impression, by all means, this is the place. Quaint, nicely decorated place. Low light, quiet, everyone is happy. But, again, go for the food. Everything else is a plus. My first visit was a year ago. I had a fish dish. I'm asking myself why it took so long to go back! Dress nicely, you'll feel important.

Her warmth was genuine, her recommendations were spot-on, and she had an incredible ability to anticipate what we needed before we even asked. Lily checked in at just the right moments -- never intrusive, never absent. She remembered details from earlier in the conversation, kept the energy upbeat, and handled a small mix-up with our order with total grace and a smile. That kind of poise is rare. If you're lucky enough to be seated in Lily's section, you're in for a treat. She's the kind of server who turns a good meal into a genuinely memorable experience. We had a group of eight and there was a lot of "not ready yet" which the staff handled with ease. Food came out quickly but mostly all at the same time. We had a few items that came out later but it was reasonable and expected. Ambiance is very nice, simple but elegant. You would feel comfortable coming in dressed up or casual. Let's get to the nitty gritty, the food quality was very good, taste was a knock out. The pasta and sauce was good enough that I was looking for specific tastes so I could recreate it, that's what I hope for in a restaurant! And there was fresh bread, oh how I could wax poetic about fresh bread and so few restaurants are on this very simple add. Dessert - I'm always hypercritical of crème brûle because like bread it's pretty simple ingredients but takes some care, Muzuna's nailed it. All in all you should stop in for dinner and you won't be disappointed!
