Awsome service and great food. The caramilize pear pizza is out if this world with prosciutto!

We went to Fralo's and this was our first and will be our last time. While we were seated quickly and they were many staff there, most just stood around talking with each other while we waited for tea/water. The pizza was mediocre at best. For the price tag of $24 for a 3 topping build your own vegan 12 inch pizza, I expected to be delighted. I was sorely disappointed. Flavorless crust, tomato sauce that looked like stewed tomatoes. The people with me ordered from their classic and sampler menu and were also disappointed. Chicken was dry, sauce flavorless, pizzas overall lacked, especially for almost $30 a piece for a 12-15inch pie. Don't waste your gas or money, go to Mellow Mushroom. If they are out of vegan options, make the drive to Pizza Classics. Both far surpass Fralo's. What makes tonight even worse is the flies landing everywhere on our food. Again, for almost $30 a pie you would think they would offer screens fo cover the pizzas served on cake stands. We will not be back, leftovers are also in the trash. read more

I love to eat at Fralo's! The atmosphere is fantastic, and the pizza is even better! I love to sit in on a spring or summer night, listen to the live music, and have a slice! I have been going for awhile, and they did start charging a cork fee for the wine, but I can get over that! Fralo's is the place to be! read more

We have been here 4-5 times, and I've never had great service. They always seem a bit understaffed, but the wait staff is friendly and I do believe they do their best. The pizza has been one of our favorites in the area. Until this past Saturday night. We were seated at 630 on a Sunday night. 20 minutes went by before I had to alert the host that we had not been approached for service yet. The long waits just continued from there. When it was all said and done, we waited an hour and 48 minutes for pizza. Maybe because we were jaded at that point, but the pizza didn't really seem all that good. It was warm, and it just didn't seem as flavorful as we remembered in the past. In fairness, when the waitress did take our order she let us know it would be about 45 minutes for the pizza. There were five or six waiters bustling around the area, but I just think in general the place is not managed well. I tipped the same as I would with good service, because as I said, I believe the wait staff was doing the best they could. The disappointing part was that at no point did the manager come around and apologize for the extreme delays in every step of our service. It would've been nice if the manager recognized the fact that their customers were waiting extreme amounts of time for mediocre pizza. The whole night was pretty miserable, and we will not be going to Fralo's again. read more

My first visit to Fralo's (just moved to Dominion area a few weeks ago), and I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in a restaurant. $35 for a 12" pizza, a soda, and a tiny tasteless salad. And the pizza tasted like frozen from a microwave. More expensive than Dough (easily the best pizza in the sovereign state of Texas), and maybe 10% as good. Never again. read more

Came to eat for my birthday. We used to love Fralo's but today was not so good. We visit because of the atmosphere. The kids enjoy it. The pizza is ok. Disappointing service though. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and on the bottom was a hair. Our really nice waitress said she told management but he said that the cook was blonde and did not have dark hair, so he wasn't taking the salad off of our ticket. I presume he was accusing us of putting the hair in our own salad because we have dark hair. I happen to find that ridiculous because we buy our wine at the restaurant unlike other patrons who bring in their wine. We order 2-3 pizzas during our visits because we have a large family. Why would we cheap out on 1 salad????!!!! I can tell you that as much as I used to enjoy this place and for as much as we have spent, we will no longer return to a restaurant that does not appreciate our business! So long Fralo's! read more

First of all, let me start by saying that there are certain areas of the country where certain delectables cannot be duplicated elsewhere, period. Texas has great BBQ, NOLA the best cajun/creole, and went it comes to pizza, nothing comes close to NYC (sorry Chicago - but you guys do make a mean deep dish!). Second, being second generation Italian (from Naples where pizza was first created) and born and raised in NYC, I grew up on outstanding pizza. Nothing compares to a fresh, pipping hot pie from Lombardi's (the first pizzeria in America), Grimaldi's, Totonno's, Patsy's, John's on Bleecker, or any other the other exceptional "coal-fired" pizza joints NYC has to offer. The only other area of the county we have found pizza coming close to an authentic NY pie has been in South Florida where "brick oven/coal-fired" pizza joints have been springing up and consistently putting out a quality product using quality ingredients. We were on our way to Rudy's in Leon Springs and passed by Fralo's Art of Pizza as we have many times before. On a whim, we decided to check them out not really expecting much, but keeping an open mind and dying for a good pizza pie. We checked the reviews on Yelp and they were from one extreme to the next from "Awesome" to "Overrated & Overpriced" so we were curious to see for ourselves. It was a warm sunny Saturday Afternoon and there were about 7 tables (including a large birthday party) dining. Before sitting down, we ventured inside to see the operation and get a first hand look at their pizza before making our final decision of pizza or Rudy's. On the counter was a newly baked pie which looked fresh and inviting. That said, we decided to dine al fresco under the sun and skip the BBQ. A cheerful waitress greeted us and gave us the menu. We noted the prices were on the higher end, $21.00 for the Margarita Pizza (plus tax and tip) and most of the other pizza selections were north of $20.00, but not "outrageous." Being a chef myself and understanding the restaurant industry, it's a no brainer that quality ingredients justify higher prices and I have no problem, and prefer, paying for quality. Guys, you get what you pay for! Cheap price=inferior quality. What do you think goes into the "dollar menu" or a $5 pizza? Perhaps "chemicals and additives" rather than fresh, wholesome ingredients. So given the appetizing looking pie we seen, we went ahead and ordered the Margarita which should be a signature item for any pizza joint worth their name; a simple, but complex, pie highlighting fresh ingredients and the chef's attention to detail. Unfortunately, and this was NOT the restaurant's fault, this was a Saturday afternoon and there were around a dozen or so children having a birthday party and creating havoc and distubing other diners, and the parents didn't care even after an attentive waiter told them to watch their kids. I know the waiter was frustrated, but he at least tried, and more than once - a plus! Around 15 minutes after ordering our Margarita arrived. It looked as good as the pie we seen inside, but could have been cooked at little more as the mozzarella was barely melted over the slices of Roma Tomatoes. We understand that not all diners like their pizza well-done, but this is the way a great pizza should be served. Next time we will ask for a longer cook time so the crust can take on the charcoal favor we enjoy. Normally we would expect to dive into the likes of creamy Buffalo Mozzarella, sun-ripened San Marzano Tomatoes, fresh Basil, First Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil all set on top of a thin, tasty, crispy crust and be led into culinary heaven. Being Texas though, we understand our expectations were high. While we would have loved an explosion of flavor and texture, the pizza we were served, to our tastes, was on the bland side; the tomatoes lacking in flavor (as most commercially produced tomatoes do these days), the mozzarella lacked the creaminess we would have preferred, and the crust slightly undercooked. Again, this is our tastes and it was definately 100% better than something from the frozen section, any of the low quality pizza chains, or from a truck at the state fair (we would NEVER eat any of these). I understand the chef uses quality ingredients, unlike the mass produced, cheap pizzas at the chains, but our expections were higher. I understand that some Yelpers enjoy this place and claim they have the best pizza, but to a native New Yorker who grew up on top notch pizza pies and from a family where pizza making is a lifetime art and passion, this was rather bland for our tastes, but nonetheless acceptable for being in the Hill County. That said, we will be back to try some of the other menu sections as you cannot judge a restaurant on one dish. Next time we will request our pizza cooked "well done," and dine under the stars for a quieter, more romantic dining experience. Perhaps that would lead to 4 or 5 read more

We loved going to fralos, unfortunately that changed this evening!! We arrived at 615, my husband, myself and our 11 month old son! Our son was rather fussy so we ordered for him and we ordered our drinks and an appetizer at 6:23 (what the ticket read). When the waiter returned with our drinks, we ordered our pizza (no later than 6:30, possibly even sooner). Our little one continued to get fussy and we watched as people around us, who were seated after us were getting their food. It was approaching 715 or so, my husband went in to ask the wait staff about it, they said they would check on it. I proceeded to go in a few minutes later and asked our waiter, he said it was in the oven!! 5 or so more minutes passed, it was about 725 and my husband went in and talked to the owner, Frank, he brought up our pizza ticket and said "you all placed your order at 650, Friday and Saturday nights take 30-45 minutes, we are just approaching 35 minutes", My husband tried to explain to him that we had been there since 615 and had placed our order around that time (at this point my husband was not aware that the initial order went in at 623). My husband came out and said the owner did not apologize and took no responsibility for anything. He told them to pack up our pizza. I then went in and talked to the owner and asked him if he would pull up our initial ticket so he could see that we weren't fabricating the story because that is what he was treating us like. When he realized that it said 6:23, I made mention, now why would we wait 27 minutes to place our pizza order with a fussy 11 month old. He was not apologetic and I told him his waiter obviously forgot to put in our order. He said he was not taking any sides! We were not looking for a free meal, we eat here very often which he knew because he said so. All we wanted was some good customer service and our food, which neither was done. Our food was packed up and we did not leave until 7:30. We are so disappointed because the food and atmosphere is great but Frank needs to brush up on his customer service skills. Absolutely loved the thin crust style pizza that reminded me of some of the better places I have eaten at over the years. Loved it so much for lunch one day that I took my family back for dinner the next night. It was that good. Had breadsticks and pepperoni pizza, which blew away Rome's and any delivery junk we can usually buy. Yeah, its a little more expensive, but the atmosphere and the ambiance made up for it. read more

While your service has always been adequate, lately the place just feels like serving the customer has become priority one. Fralo's is the go to place for excellent food, entertainment and service! My friends and I have even dubbed our Friday evenings as Fralo's Friday's! The freshest ingredients make everything on the menu mouthwatering. However, my top picks are the Greek Salad (a wonderful starter), Ravioli (such a great comfort food dish), and Spanako Pizza on Wheat (love, love, LOVE the calamata olives!). Best of all Fralo's is BYOB (there is a minimal cork fee) so feel free to bring your beverage of choice! Live entertainment in the background with the most attentive and hospitable servers makes Fralo's a must at least once a week! This was just a bad experience the bruschetta was good the pizza was ok and the service was sad. Never got refills had to clean our own table waiter never came by at all. I'm so disappointed at this because my wife and I had been looking forward to coming here once the weather was a bit nicer and to have this service just made the whole experience not worth it oh and btw the kids high chairs are full of mold we had to clean them ourselves. And Lori we ate there today 9/30/17 at around 5pm everyone was more worried about the big party of people that got there way after we did we were sat in a corner table and never paid any attention at all. Almost felt like we were out there because we had our son with us mind you not once did he bother anyone. Over all super bad experience. Horrible customer service our clueless waiter (I would give his name but he never introduced himself) was so incompetent he made George Bush look intelligent. After waiting 15 minutes for our drinks from the bar we decided to order. How do you get off charging someone $25 for a pizza ?? Oh wait, you do, Frank and Lori. The pizza was abismal it tasted like cardboard and was as bad as it look. And lets talk about the crappy selection of live music, cats in heat wouldve sounded more pleasurable to listen to while we ate our extravagantly overpriced pie. I love this place and I wish I came out more often. I recommend it as one of the best pizza options in San Antonio, and I missed it when I was living elsewhere. The outside seating is nice pretty much year-round, with enough shade in the summer and heaters for the few cooler times. I've never been disappointed with a pizza here, from the "plain" 5-cheese to the less-common Spanako or pear options. My favorite might have to be the Pozzi--it's like an awesome baked potato spread out on a pizza. It may be a little pricey for San Antonio, but you get what you pay for, and this miles ahead of the standard Papa John's/Domino's/Pizza Hut stuff. They have a very nice selection of beer and wine, but you can also BYO. It's family-friendly, which is great if you're a family, but maybe not so awesome if you're opposed to children running loose. I'd recommend a later dinner time if you want to avoid random toddlers coming up to join your party, with the added bonus of catching the generally-pretty-good live music on offer. The music (live or otherwise) can sometimes be a little loud, but it's a minor inconvenience to speak up to be heard, and worth it for the awesome pizza. read more

I've been to Fralo's 4 times and I had a good experience each time. I love it. The first time I went with my boss, and our director and 3 co-workers. I got a small make your own pizza and I looved it! Everyone enjoyed the time we spent there. The second time I went with a friend and ordered for take-out. My take-out experience was great and my friends whole family loved the pizza. I then went with my two sisters. They also liked the sampler that we got. It was soo fun eating so many new toppings! My sisters eat out on the town very very often and they said Fralo's definitly can compete well. My favorite time at Fralo's was with my husband on our date night. We had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was amazing. There were lights, a goood musician, and a Summer breeze. We sat on the patio which was awesome! We went on a Friday night, which is probably one of their busiest nights but with everything soo right it felt like we were in our own world. It's the cutiest place ever and I'm going back! read more

We had heard many great things about this place and a group of us were so excited to try it out. Upon arriving we loved the atmosphere and were anxious to try the pizza. However, the man (we'd say gentleman however he was not one at all) that was our waiter was extremely rude! He was very short, and upon requesting a seat for the toddler we had with us he had no response, just looked at us with frustration. He even rolled his eyes as he turned his back and walked out the door. After ten minutes of being ignored we decided to take our business elsewhere. For the amazing ratings on the food, I certainly hope they find a waitstaff to match. read more

Love the outside setup and casual feel. Service kids are excellent, very friendly and attentive. The live music was pretty good, unexpected and a bonus. We sat further back as it was kind of loud up front (I'm getting to be an old fogey, so take that for what it's worth). The food was good. Not great, not sure it is worth the wait, but we'll be back for the patio and ambience. Will make sure to spray bug spray next time, we got eaten alive by mosquitoes. We should have known better... If you ask, they provide bug spray. The place was crowded and obviously a local favorite. Compared to some restaurants when you're inside and it's crowded, it gets to be very noisy - not here, outside, couldn't hear other conversations, and the music was perfect as a cover up and sounded really good too. The music was a bunch of covers most people know, so occasionally I would hear folks break out into singing chorus or something- a couple of times I think I did that too. I loved being able to talk to and hear my hubby. :) I would go back with a group of friends for the ambience, as stated, and next time bring my own bottle, and my dog. :) Wish I would have known about the BYOB and BYO dog options before I got there. ha. read more

My son was home from college for spring break so we wanted to go somewhere fun with good food. Our mistake-we went to Fralo's. When we first arrived, there was some confusion over where to go since there is no clearly marked entrance or hostess stand. When we did find the unmanned hostess stand, a server eventually came by and told us to sit wherever we wanted. The outdoor seating area is cute-rustic tables under a large tent-and plentiful. There was a two man band playing that was pretty good but so loud we had to scream at each other or just play on our phones the whole meal. Then the waiting began. It was fairly busy, but not a full house. We had to wait for menus, we had to wait about 15-20 minutes to put our drink orders in-and then they never came. We eventually flagged down the owner, and he was more interested in finding out who our server was (his wife, as it turns out) then going and getting our drinks. So we waited some more in the deafening tent. We placed our orders-two pizzas, the baked goat cheese tapenade appetizer (as an entree) and a chicken Caesar salad (as an entree). The chicken Caesar salad came out a good 30 minutes before everyone's meal, even though we told our server it was for dinner. He even came by and noted that the kitchen screwed up, but didn't offer to fix it. The salad was pathetic-little crumbles of chicken and lots and lots of lettuce. Then came the baked goat cheese tapenade, again supposed to be an entree, well ahead of the other two diner's entrees. Do yourself a favor and skip this dish. It was literally melted cheese, with chopped olives on the side, not even mixed in. No flavor, no tapenade. Just a hunk of cheese. Again, the server eventually came by and noted the kitchen screwed up the timing, but did nothing to help. They never came around to refill our drinks, and even though there was plenty of room to maneuver around our table, the wait staff kept bumping into us every time they passed by. Two hours later, we had to hunt down the owner to get the check-and guess what-no discount, nothing to rectify the two hours we will never get back. Should have trusted my gut and left when it took 30 minutes just to get a water. I have no idea why this establishment is rated so high. The pizza was good, but the horrible service and total lack of care by the owners doesn't make up for that. Maybe there just aren't a lot of pizza options on that side of town? read more

Went with a friend to check this place out and I was amazed from the moment we walked into the main seating area outside. This is a family friendly place with an ambience that is perfect for any occasion. There were casually dressed people, kids running around, and people of all ages and cultures all in one place. I fell in love with this place immediately. The pizza was great and we brought our own wine. The prices were decent as well and they had live entertainment. We enjoyed ourselves indeed and will be making many future visits for sure! read more

Been here a few times. I absolutely love this atmosphere here especially when someone is preforming. The service can be a bit slow because it really is a hotspot but they usually have a manager who comes by and is tentative to peoples needs which is truly awesome. Plus they have gluten free items so nothing beats that. Best calamari!!! read more

I really enjoy the atmosphere at Fralo's. Food is very good, but I've noticed the quality of pizza is a bit hit or miss. First time I went here I had grant's pear pizza and it was incredible! Second time I got the pear pizza it was alright, balance of ingredients was a bit off compared to first time. I've had the same issue with the What the Duck pizza. With how high the price of pizza is here, I expect more consistency. read more
