Tried their food for the first time in so long I don't remember when I was there last and was not disappointed. Ordered two pizzas (mushroom and eggplant), very good sauce, cheese and a great crust. House salad was fresh but could have used some shredded carrots? house dressing needs work...SERVICE: ordered over the phone, they said twenty five minutes, and thats what it was. The food was great the food came in quick for all the stuff we ordered. Our waitress was kind and friendly, a great atmosphere lots of choices to choose from I had the chicken Parmesan which was hearty and crispy bread with a great portion of cheese. The kids had penne ala vodka pasta which had a great taste. The side salad was nice and fresh. We got offered some table side bread before our food came to settle our stomach and it was super warm and crispy with the side of butter. Pro tip:: Keep in mind they do charge extra for refills and for non-carbonated drinks for kids is limited choices. Cup sizes are small and they don't list the drinks on the menu so just make sure you ask before getting that refill when they ask if you want more to drink. Had Franco Gianni's pizza for takeout tonight, and it was fantastic pie. Got a large cheese and a medium chicken and bacon pizza. Both pies were cooked perfectly (including the crispy bacon and chicken cutlet on one) and with great flavor from the sauce and cheese. Crust was also crispy with a slight chew which I really enjoyed. I will be coming back very soon for more pizza, and have to try the dinners as well! read more

This evening I stopped by Franko Gianni's restaurant and pizza. For starters, our waitress was very nice and speedy. It is family owned and you feel the vibes when you're inside the restaurant. It's a nice, small and cozy Italian restaurant. It's a little older but, I guess that's what makes it what it is. For a starter, we got their fried mozzarella. It comes with about 5 and a good portion of marinara dipping sauce. It had an amazing cheese pull. Better than most places! We also asked for some bread as well. It was a very fresh loaf and we were given enough butter. Lastly, we got the large mozzarella pizza which was just delicious. Crispy bottom, cheese has an authentic unique taste. It's greasy in a good way. Not too much. A very good pizza overall. The decorations for Christmas were still up, but I didn't notice until later. It's not overbearing though and gives it a nice touch especially with the lights . I hope to come again soon. It was a pleasure. read more

I've been here many times before but many years ago. Locals remember that there was a big commercial expansion about 4-5 years ago and the restaurant got an outside makeover. However not much changed on the inside save new upholstery on booth and chair seats. ENTRANCE - like before no discernible host just a sign that says wait to be seated. AMBIANCE - this is a small combined take out pizza on left and sit down Restaurant the right. Still very old and very dated decor with the exception of new seat coverings. Not many tables about a dozen or so and stacked like an old brooklyn Railroad flat if you know what I mean. WAITRESS - what a darling professional, engaging, talkative, funny and genuine. Very attentive and a top rate personality. This part gets 5 stars MENU - not large at all and there is a chalk board with 3 specials of the day. FOOD - definitely not what it used to be from an entree perspective. But stepping back. Bread was super market style but heated a bit in the pizza oven a nice touch. Didn't get any appetizers but for entree's the linguine and white clam sauce was not good. Boxed pasta and canned clams in a thick sauce. Not like years ago when you got a few real clams in a shell. The gluten free pasta was not bad but the gluten free meatballs were not fresh and commercially sourced. Tried the House homemade meat balls and they were good and fresh SALAD - these were very good and very fresh. Choice of and quality of dressings were OK. PORTIONS - everything came out of the kitchen in large volumes. The portion sizes were immense compared to standard sizes. With prices low a great value for OK food. VINO - for third tier choices the Cabernet wasn't horrible at all and only $6 PRICE - this is what makes this 3 stars. Two people and 2 drinks with large portions and tax came to $46 that's $ or $$ at most. I left an extra $10 tip for a great waitress. read more

Franco Gianni's has been our go to restaurant for all of the time we have lived in Trumbull since we moved here in 1994. I have tried most of the items in the menu and the Linguine and White Clam Sauce is definitely one I have had but it was years ago. Honestly? It wasn't great so imagine my excitement when I decided to try it again tonight because I got a wonderful surprise. I wish I had taken a picture before I dug into it so you could see the heap of clams and garlic! The sauce has enough salt to compliment plus a nice hit of white wine to round it all off. Last time I had to add salt and garlic to give it some life. This time, the only thing I added was red pepper flakes. Well done! read more

I don't know why I don't order from them more often. Had their pizza earlier and it was so good. I've always enjoyed their food so don't ask me why I don't come here more. I mean their pizzas are more then good, they are really tasty. Got takeout with two friends and a family member tonight. We got three Pies. One was White Clam, One was plain and one was half bacon and half sausage. A very cool thing happened. Four out of four of us enjoyed our meal. More than enjoyed it. We loved it. It's a cozy little spot and those expecting a huge multi room eatery will be let down as it is nothing like that. It exudes coziness and warmth. I am making a note to order from here more often as their pizzas are off the charts good and friends and family alike, everyone seems to really enjoy it. It is affordable, with great service and great pizza pies. (I have not had anything here but their pizza.) Highly recommended for some really tasty food. UPDATE: Had a party here for my dad. The staff were warm and wonderful and really helped make it what it was. This is my dad's favorite place..bar none. I also love it. I used to only get takeout but then we started eating there and fell in love with this little gem of a place with its warm atmosphere, homemade tasting food and comfy booths. It's been a few years since we've dined here. We chose to eat outside. Not much has changed...very good food with reasonable prices. And the portions are huge. They also have a kids menu. I had the chicken marinara which was delicious. Opted for broccoli with garlic and oil instead of pasta. Wife had the chicken parm which she was said was very good. Kids had pasta and meatballs. We always get take out nowadays so can't speak to their inside service. I ordered chicken picatta and it came with a side of pasta. I chose spaghetti with no intention of eating it with the meal as their portions are huge, and usually I find pasta sides are lazily thrown together as an afterthought anyway. This spaghetti and the sauce was the way I always wanted it to taste. I can't even describe except to say that it was so tasty, and the sauce so perfect that I ate the side and saved the chicken for another day. It was irresistible. I went with a friend yesterday during lunch and a man who I assume is the owner or manager was screaming and yelling obscenities multiple times throughout the shift at workers. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and kind, but we had to wait over 20 minutes for our check and when the time finally came, she gave it to us in tears after being screamed and cussed at by the manager. We complained about the smell of cigarettes and heard the manager call us a load of shit. Completely unprofessional, screaming ruined our lunch.... wouldn't recommend. read more

This was our first time ordering pizza here and I'm so sorry to say they were terrible! But before I touching on my dislikes, I want to say something positive - Both on the phone and in person, the people were very nice, which is quite refreshing. Unfortunately, that's where my praises end. We ordered (2) large pizzas (well done). One sausage and the other was supposed to be a 'WHITE PIE' (no sauce), w/ricotta, minced garlic, fried eggplant, sliced fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and grated cheese. The sausage pie came to about $16, which is what I expected. However, the white pie came to over $30, which was outrageous! It turns out they charge $2.00 extra for each topping. I can see if they consider the eggplant, tomatoes and ricotta as a "topping", but to consider a sprinkle of grated cheese as a topping is a bridge too far. Do they charge $2.00 extra to bring grated cheese to your table when eating in their dinning room and another $2.00 for garlic powder? Moreover, to charge $2.00 for $0.03 to $0.05 cents of minced garlic is an insult. On top of all that, my "white pie" had 'red sauce' on it with a few teaspoons of ricotta and unripened tomatoes. The sausage tasted like it was on the verge of going bad and both pies were soggy (no crispy crust at all). Also, the crust was rather bland too. I don't know what their other food is like, but considering two pies came to over $48.00 and tasted terrible, I wouldn't order pizza from there again. Respectfully, I hope the owners read this review and decide to completely change their pizza recipes and charges. For the pizza dough, may I respectfully suggest using a mixture of 80% Tipo "00" flour and 20% Semolina flour with 68% to 72% hydration, kosher salt and 'maybe' just a little sugar. Perhaps even experimenting with some added Malt. The goal is to get a light, but very crispy, crust that packed with flavor!! I would really like them to succeed and put Trumbull on the local map for the "go-to place for outstanding pizza"! read more

This place may have a loyal TAKE OUT biz but TRUST me the interior is nothing short of FILTHY. Not following my better judgment, I decided not to take photos of the horrific restroom. But the even grosser rear part of the restaurant which is a hodgepodge of angles and dark corners was disturbing at best. The whole thing is beyond a good scrub with Clorox and some paint. This thing needs to be ripped out entirely & remodeled. You're serving the public! Our server who had three people to take care of, found difficulty in just bringing a seltzer water. We have not been to Franco Gianni's in many year and Trumbull restaurant week was a perfect excuse to try it again. They have a very reasonable prix fixe dinner. I had the eggplant rollatini and my husband had the chicken piccata. The food was very good, the portions plentiful. But the service. . . When we arrived we stood around waiting to be seated even thought the only waiter walked by us 4 or five times and the owner at the cash register right next to us didn't offer to seat us. When we finally were shown to a table we had a similar wait to place the order. The service was at best disinterested. So 1 4 for food and a 2 for service. I won't be back which is a shame. read more

I've always has great food here, but not last night. Pizza ordered well-done, but was not. Super greasy. Cheese was salty and rubbery. Eggplant parm dinner was inedible. The eggplant was mushy, lacked flavor, and looked grey. The spaghetti was over cooked and the sauce was the consistency of tomato paste. Even the salad was awful and was rotten lettuce and two huge slices of onion. The wrong dressing was given to us. The hunk of Italian bread that came with the meal was soft and has zero flavor. Best pizza in Trumbull hands down. I lost track of them year ago when they did a major renovation. Got stuck eating pies from several other places. Have checked out most Trumbull pizza places since moving here this past year. I have been getting depressed with each experience at every pizza place in town and right outside. FINALLY a pizza that had passed the test. Best pizza in town. Now i don't have to drive back down to stamford or up to new haven to get good pizza. Not the best i have ever had.... but good enough to call it my new and only regular pizza place nearby. Glad i found you. Eh.. The pizza was fine but lacked an intense taste. I called an ordered an eggplant, tomato and garlic pizza. Got home and found that I had a clam, tomato, and garlic pizza. I could say that they were very accommodating and were happy to exchange the pizza. They said to keep the clam pizza which I thought was nice of them and they had the correct pizza ready within 20 minutes. I tried the clam pizza and was, similar to the eggplant pizza, void of any real intense taste. The crust was good, the pie was cooked perfectly, but I couldn't understand what it was missing. We come here all the time, probably too frequently actually. Don't let the small size and remote location of this restaurant put you off. Everything here is delicious. My favorite thing to get is the pizza with hot cherry peppers. My husband who is a very picky eater also raves about the pizzas here. Best pizza in Trumbull by a mile. I order traditional thin and often the Sicilian square. Sauce is great, not acid, not salty just clean garlicky tomatoes, they use lots of mozzarella which I love and just the right amount of olive oil. Great cheese pizza. Be warned though, don't order the margherita pizza, they don't know how to make it and you'll end up paying more money for a regular cheese pie that they pop on some thin sliced uncooked tomatoes and four pieces of burned basil. Also, had problems with a vegetarian pie, they put uncooked topping on after pizza was cooked, who does that. They didn't mess up the pepperoni pie, that was great. I don't care for their calzone, all mozzarella very thick crust. Also tried eggplant parmigiana grinder, tasteless. Will not order again. I found this restaurant on here when I was looking for somewhere to eat relatively close to Trumbull off Route 111. I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. This place is a tiny Italian restaurant off of Route 111 near the Trumbull border. Attached next door is Luigi's Bakery which I am sure is run by the same people. Inside could use major updating, but the food here has always been pretty good. My Italian staple food is chicken parm and I was not let down. HUGE thin chicken breast, side of pasta and a side salad comes with your entree. The pizza here is pretty good here too. read more

The tiny shop defiantly has the home feel, which I loved! When we went for carry out it was packed, which was a great sign! At first glance, our medium pepperoni was great! But once we ate, it was SOOOO GREASY and lacked flavor. There was no seasoning and it was SWIMMING in grease! I understand, cheese, pepperoni...there will be grease! But this was an insane amount! This is our favorite pizza place in Trumbull, but be warned that both times we've picked up pizza there during the pandemic, we observed employees failing to wear masks appropriately (noses uncovered). Most egregiously, last night I saw a kitchen employee slicing pizzas wearing an apron but no mask at all. Clearly he was more concerned about his clothes than his coworkers or customers.
