Chicken bacon ranch wrap was so small and they charged us more for subbing pepper jack cheese instead of having provel cheese. There was barely any turkey in it. Sad. We like this place and have spent a lot of money there this past year, but this wrap was shameful. Could have ordered a wrap from Burger King for $12.00 less. This place is getting old. Time to spend the $ somewhere else. We did not complain, as no one asked us how our food was. Service is fair. Second time visiting this place, first time for a sit-down dinner. Simply put, I was very satisfied with the food, the service, and the variety on the menu. I can definitely see Frankie Gianino's becoming part of my dining out rotation. As far as food specifics, we started with the combo appetizer. The fried cheese was fabulous, the T-Rav's were great as well, however not my favorite when compared to all the options we have available in the STL area. The buffalo bites were good and I really liked the sauce, but these were pretty generic. Moving on to the entrée. I ordered what I believe was the most expensive thing on the menu, the Steak Modiga cooked medium. I am very pleased to say the steak was cooked perfectly and with the modiga garnishes, extremely flavorful. If you have read any of my other reviews you may recognize that this steak dish is a common order of mine, and the one I was served at Frankie Gianino's ranks in the top 5 for sure. The side of white pasta was exceptionally creamy, but lacking on flavor if I'm being honest. A little salt and pepper helped wake it up, but I would have liked it to have a bit more cheese or garlic prepared with it as served. I'll give that a pass however knowing that a side dish like that is generally meant to be on the plain side of things and/or for kids. The bread an butter was standard Italian restaurant fare and quite good, and the white chicken chili I opted for over the salad was truthfully one of the best I've ever had. The service was expectational, although the tables were a bit closer to each other than I would have preferred. Bottom line... Frankie Gianino's is an exceptional spot for a quick bite and beer after work, a family dining spot, or even a date night. The menu has the perfect variety of foods to fill these categories and the 3 sperate dining areas (inside, outside, and bar area) help divide the place and enhance your experience in a positive way. While this place is a bit of a drive for us out of high ridge, I can pretty confidently say the the drive IS worth it, which is also a deciding / rating factor I tend to use. I look forward to many more positive dining experiences here and will update this review upon the next visit. read more

Frankie Gs has always been one of those places when I'm back home I really enjoy nothing super special but usually pretty decent. The last time I went the pasta was very bland and tasteless and the salad which is my one of my favorite salads was bland as well. I got the chicken modega and that was decent. Honestly I am only giving then three stars cause our waitress was great. read more

Wow! And I do mean wow. Birthday group. Not one, not two, but three raw and cold in the center chicken spedini dinners. Absolutely disgusting. Can't eat rare chicken. Dark pink bordering on red w/ blood. Wrong ingredients on pizza, eternity to get cold food. What the hell! Crazy expensive toasted raviolis microwaved into rubber. Waitress was amazing and apologized her ass off. Never did get a manager to come over to say anything about our situation. Kind of a shitty birthday dinner. Eight of us went for dinner, service was good, as usual. However, we were surprised at the food. The potato skins were good, the salads house salads were excellent. The three of us that had steak or chicken dishes that were very good. The rest of us ordered pasta dishes and were shocked at the lack of taste and sauce. The pasta was dry, and little if any seasoning. The carbonara had what looked to be bacon bits not actual bacon with no taste. The rest of the pasta also Did not have enough sauce and seemed dry. I have been to this restaurant more times in a year than I have anywhere else in my life. Great for lunch, even better for dinner. The quality of the food is consistently EXCELLENT (including value for price) and the servers are also consistently friendly and polite, not to mention genuine. Absolutely love this place. Food is great, but their obsession with being difficult about something as simple as a side salad is annoying enough to me that I don't want to go back. If you get an "entree" you can get a side salad with it, or a Caesar salad for $4.99. But any pasta dish - if you want a salad with it - it's full priced at ~$17. What is the reasoning here? I truly want to understand so I can stop being so annoyed by this. This use to be a favorite for us and is close to home. First time back since Seckman Rd reopened. Went last night and requested to sit at table in bar area. Arrived around 745 after the dinner rush. Hostess told us 25 minutes. Sat at bar and watched a table in our requested area open a short time later. Another table opened and saw a couple contact the hostess and request one of the tables in our requested area. She told them yes and that she would have to get it cleaned. My wife and I went over and sat at the other table that had been sitting empty for 30 minutes and had not been cleaned of bottles, etc. After waiting nearly 20 minutes, we left. We did not see a bus boy, waitress, or manager while we waited. Contacted the hostess and told her about our disappointment. She said it was due to band. I looked at her confused and said there had been tables available. She seemed clueless and again said it was because of the band. An experience like this will keep us from visiting again. Some of the best Italian off the Hill. When eating Italian, the Hill has always been the place to go. Frankie's is the place to go when you're in Jefferson County. The shrimp spiedini was just perfect. My daughter's tutto mare was as good as any I've tried. The tortellini could have used more peas and mushrooms. But the real star was the salad. I grew up going to Gianino's off Telegraph. It was one of the restaurants that made me fall in love with Italian food. This sister restaurant delivers the same great tasting food time after time. Known for their HUGE portions, my wife and I usually split an entree, which includes a "side" salad that is a meal in itself, and another side. Our go to entree is Chicken Modiga. The chicken is cooked perfectly with a flavorful crunchy breaded crust that holds up to the wine and cheese sauce that smothers the chicken. In addition to the provel and wine sauce, it has mushrooms and BACON cooked into the sauce! The sauce is addictive. Even when you are full after this big meal and all your chicken has been eaten, you just want to go back to the kitchen and find a bowl of this sauce and lick it clean. This place seems to always be busy, but you can make a reservation. They also have take out and have a rewards card for regulars. We were a party of seven. The wait was only about 10 minutes even though they said 20, so that's good! Our server and the trainee were friendly and attentive. The portion sizes are GINORMOUS. Everyone who had chicken said it was over-cooked and tough. Our various salads were ok, but VERY heavy on the dressing. I suggest ordering dressing on the side!! I like quite a bit of dressing and even for me it was a lot!! Overall atmosphere was a bit noisy, but not too bad. Went to Frankie Gianino's Grill and Bar for the first time today. We ate outside. It was a little warm but we sat near the fans. This place reminds me a bit of Stefanina's. (But don't worry, Stef's, you still have my heart, stomach, and everything else.) The house salad was similar to Stefanina's Wentzville's, except with mushrooms in the place of those artichoke hearts. Provel is the best salad cheese! And that's quite the creamy house dressing. I normally enjoy the food here. However, the curbside dinner salad we brought home last night was pitiful. It consisted of a huge bowl of iceberg lettuce. In town for work and this place was recommended to us. We were seated quickly with no wait and the service was fast and friendly! Had the "trashed" wings and they were pretty damn phenomenal!! Loved them and I would go there just for those alone. I liked that the sauce is on the side as they're not as messy. That and I didn't care for the sauce. It had a nice kick but, to me it was just weird and not like a regular buffalo wing sauce. I also had the deluxe pizza. It was good, I was just a little underwhelmed. Took my family there for lunch to celebrate my Birthday. Took a long time to get in even with reservation. Took even longer to get a drink and have our orders taken. I ordered a large sausage pizza for myself thinking that I could take some home for later. Worst freakin pizza I ever had. Crust was horrible...no sauce...no cheese and no sausage. It was garbage. We had a large group go for lunch. We were seated immediately. The lunch menu was vast, and substitutions were permitted. Our server was very attentive. The majority of us got chicken speidini. I got the sandwich with fries. The seasoning on both were perfect. Everyone else got the speidini off of the lunch menu. Many ordered broccoli as a side and said it was cooked well and not soggy. Food is decent. However service is the slowest I've ever received. I have been here multiple times and it takes almost an hour to get your food. Stuffed mushrooms were good. They were a little bland like they were missing something, but not bad. The salads that come out before the meal are huge and very good. You could just eat that and be full. The portions for everything I saw come out are really big. Had the steak modiga. Was really good. Steak was cooked perfect and loved the sauce. I could go without the cheese on top to be honest, but that's personal preference. I like the flavor of steak, and while the cheese was good, it dominates it a little. Chicken Mudega pizza was great, my kids shared a fettuccine Alfredo and was completely dry, and my wife had a chicken Caesar with overcooked hard chicken. We went for lunch today. First time at this location. I wanted to try their crab stuffed mushrooms and grouper sandwich. The mushrooms were fine but I won't order again because there's little to no crab in them. The grouper sandwich was delicious. I had it blackened. I only ate half and took the other half home. Tonight I nibbled on the leftovers and cooled it was quite mushy so obviously started frozen. But hey, we're millions of miles from an ocean. The flavor was great, it tasted very fresh, prep was perfect and it was a solid fish sandwich which is hard to find in STL. Of course the onion rings were to die for. Soooo good. They have a great salad (Gianino salad is my favorite) just didn't get it tonight but usually do at other locations. And I can't say enough about the waitstaff. They were so short handed and the people there worked their a**** off to be sure everyone was taken care of. And with a smile on their face.
