Took me awhile to find out about Frankie's Chicago beef. Soo glad I did! It's a small place in city walk. Three or four tables and some bar seating. Order at the counter as you watch the cook prepare food. The menu is Chicago beef sandwich's , Chicago dogs, polish sausages with pizza and pizza puffs. Fries and tots are available too The cold drinks are in reach in coolers. Adult beverages are available I have had the beef sandwich and Chicago dog and fries. All were excellent! I chose hot gardenearia on my Chicago beef which was super extreme hot for me. Be careful w that. I also got the sando half dipped. It was juicy and delicious. The dog and fries were fire too. Big Vienna hotdog on poppy seed bun. They run it through the garden! Tomatoes green relish sport peppers and more real deal. The are wonderful served pipping hot and crispy they are are slightly thicker shoe string fries. My partner had a gyro which was excellent as well. A friend decided to bring me to this new spot for lunch. It was okay for a Mom and Pop business. The main attraction was their cashier who took orders and handled the money. Very seriously and adeptly handled. The interior was clean and the same for the bathroom. That's very important to make a good impression. My friend ordered the 10" pizza and a pizza puff for me. Well, neither of us found our meals very enjoyable. I recommend not to order the pizza puff because it takes after a microwaved Hot Pocket.Not good. My friend's pizza wasn't any better. I saw that there was a Greek-American owned business in Palm Coast and I was eager to stop by and support it. My daughter wanted a hot dog so instead of going to Hot Diggety Dog we came here. I wanted to like it there so badly. When we walked in I was underwhelmed by the decor, and there were no other customers. It seemed like a starter kit for a generic restaurant. The lady at the counter was friendly enough when we got there. My daughter ordered a kids hot dog and I ordered a Gyro. The food was prepared very quickly. The hot dog looked dry and seemed as though it was freezer burned. There was no flavor and the outside looked almost gray. I was hoping it was the lighting or something. I ate my gyro and the pita was soft and warm, the tzatziki was okay, and the tomato and onions were aright. The gyro meat was average, but there was no crispness or charring like you will find on a fresh gyro off the spit. We sat and ate and no one checked on us cause they were in the back loudly talking about restaurants and bakeries they wanted to try, and about whether they should clock out for a meal break or not. My daughter asked me to taste her hotdog and I did. I was shocked. There was ZERO flavor and it felt like something you pulled out of the back of the freezer at home when you haven't gone grocery shopping in far too long. I took one bite and decided I wasn't going to make her eat it. We walked out and no one asked how our food was and we left. I have zero desire to ever go back. Paid over 20 bucks and had to take my daughter elsewhere to get something to eat. I really hope they fix it in there because we do need good mom and pops businesses in Palm Coast. I got a beef sandwich, asked for it to be dipped it was brought out in a paper tray with about 2 inches of beef gravy sitting at the bottom of the tray, the beef sandwich was floating on it like boat. As I reached to grab the beef sandwich my fingers layed in the beef gravy almost burning my fingers. The gravy being hot in temperature. l've never had a beef sandwich in Chicago that was not wrapped in wax paper, eating or carry out. The bread was only wet at the bottom the rest of the bread was dry. I brought it to the counter They were very rude to the point where | lost my appetite. So this place just opened from what I understand at a new location. I went in and said give me the most popular item. I got the Italian roast beef with peppers and wet. Have no idea what wet was but it's basically juice that the bread gets dipped into and damn! It's good! A beer would have made it better but it was noon! My sister had the plain hotdog and her way of telling if it's good is if she starts burping later. Well lo and behold she did not. It's worth the time to go in and check it out. Stopped in today to pick up some lunch to go. We ordered a few things: 2 Chicago dogs, a cheese pizza, a Chicago beef, and a pepperoni pizza. We were quickly greeted at the counter with a couple ahead of us. We placed our order and they had a steady stream of people coming in while we waited. We waited about 20 minutes but there were a few orders ahead of us and I didn't feel the wait was longer than expected. The pizza was a crunchy cracker type crust and was delicious. The sauce is light and flavorful. The dogs were delicious as well. They had the snap you expect with the traditional toppings in a perfectly steamed bun. The beef with peppers and onions were good, but our least favorite of what we ordered but didn't hate it. The place has some tables to sit at and they had a good menu selection. Just moved down to FL from Chicago 6 months ago. Living in Chicago area for 58 years, finding a true Beef/Chicago dog place here was difficult (there is something about a "true" Chicago Italian beef-not the chains, the small spots. Once you have it, there is no going back). Found this place today with a coworker. The food is the BEST. They are true southside guys (we are from the area) that know how to make them. We went to the Red Clover tonight at the European Village. I'm not sure of the exact setup but it seems like Red Clover is the bar and restaurant and Frankie's is in the kitchen serving their food there. The inside is very small, maybe 12-15 chairs at the bar and approximately 9 tables which several are 2 people seating. They do have outdoor seating but no real coverage nor do they have heaters. We ordered margaritas very pretty but so watered down. I ordered 6 chicken wings, garlic butter on the side and onion rings with cheese dip. My husband ordered the Italian beef combo with full dip and hot peppers. French fries came with his combo. My wings were good as were the onion rings. I really didn't care for the cheese dip and would not order again. My husband said the sandwich was ok, nothing special. The hot peppers were good but the meat just didn't have the flavor and the way it was cut wasn't easy to eat. He did like the fries even though the ketchup he asked for never arrived. My daughter said this is the best gyro she's ever had. The pita bread was super fresh and the meat is good. My husband said the Italian beef is the best he has ever had. He is an Italian beef connoisseur. The sweet peppers were amazing, dipped to perfection and you can tell it's homemade. I had the cheese fries and the cheese was good on top of the fries. Everything was BURNING hot and FRESH! So glad we tried it. Our daughter just started going to college in St. Augustine and we will be out here a lot and this will be our go-to spot. They're located in Red Clover at European Village courtyard and staff is so nice. First of all the Chicago dogs were loaded with all the good stuff and were on a delicious poppy seed bun. The Italian beef came either spicy or sweet. I tasted both and the spicy was very spicy- my husband loved it, but just a little too spicy for me but that's a matter of my preference and nothing to do with the quality of the food. I definitely preferred the sweeter. Either way the food is delicious and the guys that run the truck are super friendly. Went here today because I'm always craving Chicago food. I had the beef hot dog with fries with the chicago seasoning and it was perfect!!!! I would recommend adding some slice of cucumber. The hot dog had the poppy seed on the hot dog bun, the chicago green relish, tomato, hot peppers, pickle, onion and I believe celery salt. It was very filling!!!
