Hands down a must do when in Mendocino . I'm not a big fan of icecream but I would have to say this should be on your itinerary when in town. Tried the mushroom cap icecream and it was decadent . I ordered a single scoop and went back two days in a row because it was that good . The icecream had a great texture of the mushroom . It wasn't too sweet which was perfect and had light flavor and morsels of the mushroom . It kind of tasted like butter pecan & maple. It was delicious ! This spot was my favorite !

Frankie's was a cute little pizza and ice cream shop. Their pizza was fresh and their falafel was decadent. They also serve local wines and I found my new favorite Cabernet Sauvignon called Bontela. We didn't try the ice cream because we were full after our meal, but that is what most the people in front of us ordered. There are a few small tables downstairs. Upstairs there are a few more small tables and a large one that will hold 10 people.

We stopped in at Frankie's for dinner and dessert. The folks behind the counter were very friendly. Ample seating available, it was especially pleasant outside on the patio. Our pizza was delicious and perfectly crispy. The ice cream was a great way to end our meal with a sweet treat.

Candy cap mushroom was pretty good. Don't be put off by the mushroom haha. We got 2 scoops just in case we didn't like it. Pralines and cream went well with it. And they have pizza, how cute! They have seating on the main floor, upstairs and outdoors as well.

We stopped in to order a pizza to go. The staff was welcoming and they are also known for their ice cream. Well, who said you can't have dessert first, so Mr. Bee and I shared a scoop of ice cream while waiting for our pizza. Who can pass up Mushroom Cap Ice Cream, I know sounds weird right, mushrooms in ice cream. But it was awesome. Very creamy and rich. There are no chunks are pieces of mushroom, but the mushrooms add an earthiness to the ice cream which made it a little savory and not too sweet. It really tasted like maple pecan ice cream. Loved each and every bite. We ordered the Whisky Shoals pizza. Topped with mozzarella, goat cheese, pine nuts, red bell pepper and jalapeno. It was spicy, but not overly spicy, sweet from the bell pepper, creamy and tangy from the goat cheese and the pine nuts added a nice crunchy texture. Would absolutely eat it again. The crust was crisp and not too thick. We did take it back to our room at the inn to eat while enjoying our ocean views, but they do offer some indoor seating and a nice patio for dining in.

So many pizza options to choose from but happy with our the veggie choice we made. Also a good selection of beer to choose from. Small patio area to sit in and well as some inside options, but lucked out and was able to get a table. Loved that it was dog friendly too. It was a longer wait to place the order, but well worth it and staff is friendly.

On the left was peppermint & rocky road; on the right was coconut & some kinda chai...perfect!!

Yummmyyy ice cream! Perfect for a sweet treat. Staff was so-so don't expect to engage but the ice cream is super yummy! Plenty of seating!

Cons: The sauce and toppings on the pizza tasted like they were out of a can. I expected the mushroom to taste like a local rich fungi, but I was disappointed. The ricotta spread on the ricotta toast appetizer was rich and not to my liking. I left most of mine on the plate. The chocolate desert was tasteless and disappointing. If I stayed at the hotel, which looked lovely by the way, I would definitely eat there again. If I wasn't already at the hotel, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

After a morning canoe down the Big River and those stairs, we turned into ravenously hungry people. We asked the gift shop lady for food recommendations. Without skipping a beat, she said: "Patterson's Pub! If you get there before 2:00 PM, you can get brunch!" Challenge accepted. We took our appetites straight to Mendocino's main drag. They had a tented patio in the sunny-but-stubbornly-windy Mendocino air, but we opted for the interior. Good choice. It has the ultimate "Authentic Irish Pub" starter pack: Cool and dark? Check. Crisp draft beers? Check. Full bar? Check. The SF Giants game playing on multiple screens? Check and check. We successfully beat the 2:00 PM brunch buzzer, and the specials menu looked to good to pass up! Lobster Wontons (Pub Special): Gone in a literal flash. Blink and you missed them. Crabcakes Benedict (Pub Special): Hands down, the best this diner has ever had. The hollandaise sauce (which they kindly served on the side per request) was a lemony deliciousness! The Comfort Food Crew: The rest of the party ordered clam chowder (Boston), garlic bread, and a fried cod sammy with thin-cut fries. All around lip-smacking! The Liquid Refreshment: Paired it all with a half-pint of Scrimshaw Pilsner (shoutout to local Fort Bragg brewing). It hit the spot and paired perfectly with the crabcakes benedict! The "Too Spicy" Drama: We did hit one minor speed bump. One of the dishes turned out to be a bit too spicy for one of our sensitive diners (not me). The waitstaff deserve a medal here. They went out of their way to try and "de-spice" the meal. While my companion's tastebuds were past the point of return, the staff's effort and sweetness were noticed and much appreciated! . Excellent customer service. The Verdict: A wonderful, perfect meal for a weekend getaway in the Mendocino/Fort Bragg area. We will absolutely be back.
