I drove to Frank's Auto to have the motor mounts replaced since my Honda Dealer recommended that the main motor mount be replaced. The drive was worth the time and effort to get the job done right. Frank's auto service has over 100 years experience since Frank Sr. (grandfather) Frank Jr. (father) and Frank III current owner all work in this huge comprehensive auto service. The threesome Frank's provide service with a big warm smile. I always have a healthy skepticism about mechanics since I have not always had good experiences; especially with mechanics that are employed by dealerships. I believe 90% of mechanics always overcharge for a service and oversell a product that is not needed. This has happened to me ever since I have owned cars. So I arrived at Frank's with a BIG healthy skepticism, but also with an open mind. The Morgan Hill Honda dealer recommended that I have all motor mounts replaced at a ridiculous cost in thousands. So, like any other man, who believes we know how to find a deal, I searched far and near and asked for recommendations from friends and mechanics (Yes I asked mechanics for advice to see what they would say). My mother in law said, "YOU HAVE to GO SEE FRANK, they are a quality family and reeeeeeeaaaal honest!!!." I said to myself, "an honest mechanic?, I have to see this!" I tried to save money and bought the part on-line via a recommendation from another mechanic who was going to fix my car, but he fell ill and closed his shop. I brought the part to Frank Jr. and he said he would work with me to solve the car's problem. Frank is a smart professional. He showed me that the engine was moving with a simple trick. He said, "stand in front of the engine while I push the brake and move the gear from Reverse to Drive." Well, hot dog, the engine had a lot of play and moved, vibrated, and shook back and forth. Came in for a tire repair at a busy time but Frank (2nd generation Frank - I think there are 3 generations of Franks at this family business FYI!) was able to take time out for me and take a look at the leak. To repair was $16 where other nearby shops were asking $30+. However after finding the leak, he showed me it was coming from a previous patch job and that couldn't be repaired. He even happily recomended nearby shops that may carry used or new tires. Before heading out he even cleaned my tire so it wouldn't get my car dirty, all while smiling and providing execellent and honest customer service! Highly recommended! I'm so happy I followed the Yelp Reviews (and beating myself over not finding them earlier) and went to Frank's. After having to deal with the Honda stealership down the road for a Battery Replacement (which was way more then if I had used my AAA membership) good think I had a service credit. The minivan had another error complaining about the Battery Charging issue. The Service Desk guy said it was probably the alternator and said the cost alone for the part was $600, plus labor and the diag fee. I walked out willing to risk the car failing...which it did. Not wanting the Stealership to get more of my money I was on the hunt for a reputable repair shop to fix my minivan. Towed it to Frank's and they diag'ed the car, call and let me know the alternator was dead and needed replacement gave me the total cost over the phone (part, labor and tax) I gave the OK and off they went. Just picked up my car and Frank Sr. showed me that they felt it was necessary to also go ahead and replace the serpentine belt, and showed me the frayed edges at the time of pickup. Wow talk about making sure the customer is safe. All in all I paid less and got a higher quality of service and will be taking our other vehicles to them for service from now on. A++++ read more

I took my car to Frank's last week because something was wrong with my AC. I dropped it off and he called me a few hours later telling me what was wrong with it and how he had taken care of it. The short review: we've found our new garage. The logerish review: my elderly mother has recently moved in with me and brought with her her 13 year old car. The hope is to keep it safe and on the road as long as she still drives. I stopped by Frank's, met Sr and Jr (who both stopped working to come over and shake my hand), and I explained the goal. After leaving the car with them, Frank Jr called and said the car is in great shape. They went through it tip to tail and only made note of a couple concerns along the way. In both cases, Frank Jr made it clear they were maintenance issues and NOT safety issues; in fact in one case he said he'd just leave it be, and in another he suggested revisiting the issue next time we need new tires, which by the way he also said should last for a long time to come. So basically, Frank easily could have made several hundred dollars off me fixing "safety" issues the car didn't have. I'm no mechanic, no way for me to know. Instead he was straight with me and treated me with respect. As a result, Frank has earned my trust and three new customers (me, my wife and my mom) as long as we live here. I've had nothing less than a fantastic experience when taking my car to Frank's. There are so many things to admire about this business, from their expertise to their incredible customer service to their sincere honesty. Just a quick anecdote which prompted me to write this review: a notification appeared on my dashboard for my tail lights. After calling Frank's to see if they had availability, they told me that unfortunately, their day was jam-packed, but that they'd be in early on Monday and could take a look then before they even officially opened, which is a great offer in and of itself. When I mentioned I'd be unavailable at that time due to work, Franky told me to still bring my car in that day and they'd fit it in and take a look. After arriving, they immediately addressed my car and 10 minutes later, I was back on the road again with a fixed tail light, and get this-NO CHARGE! I'm constantly in awe of how good these guys are, not only at what they do but how they go about doing it. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Came in looking to only get a diagnosis & quote for my car. At first, Frank Jr seemed friendly & nice. He offered to do a diagnosis on my car free of charge. He told me to come back the next morning. I did & left my car there & did not hear back from him at all. I had to call him before they closed. It does not take all day to do a diagnosis on my car to let me know what is going on. I had to call him because he was not updating me about my car. Frank tried to scam me over the phone when I called him. He said he was trying to order parts for my car & was calling around to see if they had the parts for my car. He tried to do work on my car without communicating with me & without my authorization. He let me know that my total cost upfront for my car would be $800. I only came in for the diagnosis & quote...NOT for him to fix my car that same day. He was acting sketchy & nervous once I got to his shop to get my car which didn't get my car till after the shop closed. Once I walked away & let him know I would leave a review, he did not like that & said to me "get the hell out of here" after I called him out on his dishonesty. I am not one to write reviews & Frank Jr is unprofessional, rude, dishonest, & manipulative. Stay away from this shop & don't waste your money or time. I was disappointed & wanted to give this shop a chance but I'll be taking my business somewhere else. read more

I was instantly greeted outside by a friendly man, who later introduced himself as Frank Jr. He was apologetic that he couldn't get me in sooner than 3 or 4 days out (no problem!), subsequently dropped off my truck the following Monday, he offered to drop me back off at work (but had my bike to pedal back instead), and had the service performed. They called me within a couple hours, picked up the truck and the rest is history. I am very satisfied with the service I received, along with the fair cost associated with it. The only reason I'm not giving them a 5-star is that with only having one experience, I can't quite say much more, as of now... but I will certainly be back! Frank Sr put in a whole front suspension on my '96 Suburban; years ago Frank Jr put a new fuel pump - good price and honest service. Frank also works on my '86 BMW 325es - again honest and fair. A few years ago my BMW quit on the freeway and I had it towed to Frank's Auto - Frank said he thinks it is the timing belt and shot a number at me. Being a backyard mechanic I said thank you but no - he charged me nothing for an accurate diagnosis. This week my BMW would not start. I of course instructed the tow truck driver to take it to Frank's - he said "I know those guys - they're great people".
