What a fantastic hidden gem! We came here for a friend's birthday and it did not disappoint! It doesn't look like much from the outside, tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. Inside it is cozy and intimate. Reservations recommended as it is a VERY small space. They had a small but solid wine list. The chianti was outstanding. Several in our party selected from the list of specials. The scallops piccata was perfectly seared and served on a bed of your choice of pasta. The osso bucco looked delicious and our friend confirmed it. The mussels had a flavorful sauce and the calamari had a light crunchy breading. From the kitchen you could hear Frank himself pounding out veal cutlets. We had the pleasure of meeting him and complimenting everything we enjoyed. We topped off the meal with some generous slices of cheesecake, key lime pie, a DREAMY chocolate mousse type dessert, and an espresso. We will be back the next time we're in town. I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention all the servers, who were warm and welcoming, and especially our server who happened to be Frank's wife. This is by far the best restaurant in Marathon, hands down. It's small, it's quirky, and it does it all. The wait staff seems to enjoy their job, friendly and efficient. The menu is huge. We always go for the fish entrees which they prepare in several variations but then love a side of their pasta to get that Italian fix! We could go here everyday and be happy happy happy! read more

Hidden gem. Food was delicious! Reservation options were 5:00 or 8:00. So we went early. (Too early for my taste, but...) There were plenty of empty tables still at 6:30 when we left, so ‍ 2 of us...had a veal entree & scallop special. Both were great. Service was friendly. Joe kindly offered suggestions. First, this place has a very warm, family feel. The staff are friendly but not overly bothersome. And the food-- it was extremely good. Our favorite dish is the Catch of the Day Francasie. We got Grouper Francaise (Red Snapper was also available). It was so incredible, we got it again two nights later. It has a light lemon tang sauce poured over the lightly fried fish that has been egg washed. Excellent. Another favorite was the chocolate mousse pie! Just incredible. Frank's Grill is a sweet local fa orite that has many return guests as we could tell that the normal crowd knows Frank well. They were very nice and the service was spot on. Our waitress and wait staff were very helpful and punctual and very nice! The calamari was excellent, lightly fried and cooked to exactly the right amount. The Penna Pink vodka was amazing and the salads were very fresh. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked great! This is a SMALL and quaint place but when they say make a reservation they aren't lying. We made reservation for 5:45 p.m. on a Friday and when we got there the dining room was basically empty but by time we got our salads and calamari the place was packed! So do indulge but make sure you make a reservation to do so! read more

Our meal and our server, Lynda, were perfect! My boyfriend chose the lobster bisque and he said it was fantastic. I chose the Italian wedding soup. It was really good. We both chose the same entree. The Oso Buco was the best ever! It was amazingly huge, fall off the bone tender and tasty beyond belief. The sauce and veggies were superb. Our Oso Buco was served on a bed of risotto. Yummy!!!The bread was delicious and fresh . Our meal was perfectly complemented with the Kendall Jackson Merlot. Our server was super. Lynda was friendly and attentive. Based on recommendations from friends, we went to Franks and were not disappointed. We got there around 5:30 on a Thursday night and got the last table available, so I would get a reservation next time. Our server, Lynda, was fantastic - great sense of humor and banter. I had linguini with white clam sauce. One teenage son got the chicken fettuccini alfredo and the other got chicken parm - both devoured their meals. We came in as a group of 5 or 6 and our waitress handled us with little to no effort, she was great! It just came so natural to her. She had a very fiery, welcoming, and bold personality. I enjoyed her. She kept us laughing and our request kept her on her toes. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs which I was excited to have because I am lover of Italian food. On a positive note, the ingredients were fresh, or at least to me. Noodles cooked to perfection. My critique is that the sauce wasn't as seasoned as I had hoped and there was something a little off putting about the taste of the meatball (not spoiled, but the flavor). If you told me I would have one of the best meals of my life in a sketchy strip mall in Marathon, Florida, I probably wouldn't believe you. But Frank's absolutely knocked everything out of the park. We made reservations for a family birthday dinner, and we immediately knew that it was going to be great when our server started cracking jokes. In Marathon, and looking for a 'nicer' meal. We made reservations for 7:30 on a Saturday. Walked in, and just had to wait for a few minutes. We first ordered escargot which was on the special board. Small but delicious. For dinner, I ordered the yellow tail snapper poached, which is a White Clam Sauce with Oregano Bread Crumbs. It was fantastic. It came with soup or salad, which I opted for the soup of the day which was lobster bisque. It was good, but the lobster to cream ratio favored the cream, so I would probably opt for something else next time. My wife ordered the penne special, which was penne with red pepper sauce with shrimp. Again, it was fantastic. The food is great. The atmosphere is probably nicer than the other hole in the walls in the keys, but dont' expect fancy (ie a white tablecloth). And the prices were very reasonable. I would recommend. read more

While my father and I were driving back to the mainland from Key West, our stomachs were feeling melancholic at best. Then, upon the horizon we saw Frank's Grill and I'm quite certain I heard Siren song originating from the Bay beyond. The food was amazing and authentic (though I've never been to Italy myself). Stopped at Frank's Grill with our yellowtail fillets from a day of fishing in Marathon! A perfect ending to a perfect day. From start to finish, the bread to dessert, all was outstanding. Being from New England, we certainly know our seafood and how it should be prepared. Frank prepared our fillets both fried and Franchise both of which were phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Dinner was served with your choice of sides and soup or salad! The service from Bahai and Barbara was just as good as the food and met our every need. We will certainly be back again.
