Online suggestions said to try the Carne Asada Fries, so I did...and they were right!!! I'm not typically a carne asada person because I feel it is usually under seasoned and tough, but Franks had the exact opposite. Great flavor and the meat was slightly crisp without being dried out. My only (small) wish was that it had come with some cilantro and onion on top. The green salsa was very flavorful and had a nice heat to it as well. Also ordered a single Al Pastor Taco. It was quite big and I ended up peeling apart the second tortilla to fashion an another taco. Sat at the tables outside and they were clean with some good shade and a nice breeze. I also had the passion fruit juice and enjoyed it so much I should have ordered a 32oz! Very happy with everything and I will definitely be back. read more

I've driven by Franks many times and didn't stop in until today. I actually went to another place that wasn't open on time and decided it was time to give Franks a try! First good decision of the day! I got a breakfast burrito with ham, eggs, potato and cheese. Very good size, I ate only half and am saving the other half for later. Taste was hot and fresh and delicious. I tried the red salsa and it was pretty good with a nice zip to it. I got some green too but will that later. They have a full menu of Mexican food and also serve cheeseburgers which I've heard are really good. I'm def going back and will try the cheeseburger next. The staff there were friendly and the service was fast and I could watch them make everything. It's a cool little place with both indoor and outdoor dining options. Franks is really good for what it is- it's a 4 or 5 star hole in the wall Mexican place. The carne asada burrito or carne asada fries are really hard to beat! There's limited indoor & outdoor seating but they have it, a few tables inside & out. The salsa is really good both red & green. This place is somewhat of a local favorite & does good business. Parking lot can be a bit tricky getting in & out but no big deal. I will definitely be back from time to time as it's one of my favorite places to get a carne asada burrito. They have lots of other entrees, I've tried some of their combo plates which are also really good. They have outside dining & private parking. There are many Mexican food eateries in Vista and this one is not on a main road, and yet it was busy in the afternoon. The food is okay at best but I think I got scammed here. I ordered a combo for $13 and she added $5 extra when I asked if i can get an agua de Jamaica instead of a canned soda. This was my first time there, I checked the reviews but decided to try it as it's close to my house. The place is clean and I ordered the carne asada burrito, which says $9.90 on the menu above. I was asked if I wanted pico de gallo and guacamole? I said yes thinking every carne asada burrito I've ever had comes with that. My total came to over $12? So I asked why the price discrepancy and she said the pico de gallo and guacamole were extra, just as someone else on the reviews had mentioned. I thought why don't you just put the total price on the menu? The meat was good without fatty pieces but there was very little pico De gallo and guacamole inside. If you are going to charge me extra for those ingredients you better put a good amount inside, which is my reason for the poor review. read more

Okay, I've gotta be honest, I only eat one thing here and I'd give it 4 stars alone. The "Super Fries" at Frank's are just carne asada fries like you could get anywhere else but there's just something especially delicious about them. Although they only get a 3 star rating from me based on the customer service, cleanliness and bathroom facilities. The customer service isn't overly friendly, unless you're lucky enough to meet THE Frank. He's a jolly man, always friendly and pleased to see you. Otherwise the staff is pretty neutral. The cleanliness is lacking. I haven't noticed anything (that I can see from the register) that makes me nervous to eat the food, but the tables and chairs are often in need of a good wipe-down. That's okay, I'll flick someone else's cheese off the table myself, I guess. The bathroom is like a tiny closet. I have a hard time getting inside and around the door to close it. There are numerous etchings and other graffiti on the walls. They don't have a mirror above the sink, and the window doesn't have any kind of curtain or frosty glass to prevent any peeping toms. Sketchy! I'll keep returning when I'm in the neighborhood, but I won't go out of my way. read more

Today I went for a burrito and asked for a Carne Asada burrito, no pico + combo and they give it to me with everything, and then I asked if they could remake it and they gave it back with the same meat, and even if they took it off, while I was eating it it felt like I was eating pure onions. And to finish this off they gave me a skinny asf burrito not worth paying 9-10 dollars for this. I don't recommend this place, they used to care about their customers but now it seems that they rather want to safe some money than lose a customer. read more
