I love Frank's pizzeria as it reminds me of my ol'e neighborhood of Knickerbocker Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. I only buy pizza and a can of soda because I cook several of his dishes. My one complaint is that sometimes I get a slice that has been sitting for a while. Today was one of the days that I got a last pepperoni slice that was sitting with other various last slices. I know it is better not to accept that slice, but I did. I paid for that slice as it caused an upset stomach. I understand each slice is money, but sometimes you need to dump it if he sits for hours. Nice variety of to-go slices such as chicken bacon ranch, margherita, veggie, plain, pepperoni, sicilian, etc. I got the Margherita slice $4 which was nice, thin, and crispy, just how I like my slices. I prefer the pizza over at Pizzanada which is about a 5 min drive away. All in all, I'd come here for a quick slice if I'm stopping at the supermarket, liquor store, or walgreens that's in the same plaza. Frank's has a wide variety of slices, some of which are not your usual fare - Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Cutlet and Bacon Ranch. They also have your standard slices. Each one that I have had has been pretty tasty. All slices are heated to order. The decor feels a bit dated but this isn't fine dining. It feels like a pizza place from the 1970s, which is what I grew up with. There is plenty of parking available in the Bloomfield Commons Parking lot. read more

I like the good stuff and here it is , I ordered a slice of brick oven pizza with extra cheese and my friend had pepperoni on her slice. It was simply delicious!! I got a tomato/basil/fresh mozzarella slice. Sadly was near flavorless. The tomato sauce, which was what was present on over half the slice was so bland. It tasted like it was straight from the can with not added anything. I ate because I was starving and had paid for it. My feller said the sausage slice was not bad but not enough sauce. whaddaya expect Jersey? this place is literally on a main highway in Newark called Bloomfield Ave. they get so much foot traffic that they don't have to worry about high quality. they could sell shoes if they wanted to. you get in you get your pie or slices, you get out and you move on. done. there's no valet or rewards program so it is what is and serves its purpose. if you want great pizza keep heading up Blfd Ave about 15 minutes into Montclair where a so-so brick oven personal Margherita pie the size of a frisbee is $30 not including tip or parking. otherwise this is PATH train pizza so enjoy it and come back again soon. be glad you ate there. read more

I got rice ball and a slice of buffalo pizza to-go. It was great but it wasn't bad. It was probably an odd time when I went but the pizza on display to reheat looked very old. I saw an old couple go ham on a whole pie and 2 litter soda. That's a lot of carb but to each their own. The place has really old furniture and the ceiling tiles need to be replaced. I liked that they share a huge parking lot so I don't have to worry about parking for a quick bite to eat. read more

I have been here about three times. The location is convenient. Each time I am about to walk in ai wonder why I do not come more often. Frank's Pizza has the best subs! I've been so hooked of their Eggplant marinara sub that I rarely ever get anything else off the menu - ever! It's perfectly cooked, soft, warm, bubbly and melty, with delicious, tangy, bright red beautiful sauce. Best of all, its served on this fantastic bread which they toast in the oven. It's my favorite eggplant sub - trust me, many places get eggplant wrong, but Frank's is the best. Their prices are super reasonable, and the service has always been friendly, quick and caring. My boyfriend and I love going here for quick dinners when we are really hungry - we often crave the subs here. Garlic knots and salad are good here, too. My boyfriend often gets their pizza and he loves it. His favorite, however, are the rice balls which he says reminds him of the ones he had in Italy. They're huge, gooey, and come with a generous helping of sauce. Great to share! Every time we come in, its extremely crowded. Many people dine-in and get full meals! I know there are plenty of pizza joints in Bloomfield but Frank's sauce makes it a force to be reckoned. I crave this food in my sleep, sometimes. read more

Buyer beware. Every time I come here it is a disappointment. The place looks like it could use the money so my hunger gets the best of me. There's nothing Italian about this place. I said fresh mozzarella and got looked at like I had 3 heads. Then I order my entire 10$ sandwich with my final request asking if they could make it on garlic bread. "Nope we don't have" was what I could understand from the broken English. Shortly after I cancelled my order and settled for a low quality slice of pizza. When I found the manager who was sitting in the corner watching tv he explained how they have the best garlic bread with another employee complimenting how good it is. I said "hm the guy down there said you didn't have it" and the managers response was we don't have it for sandwiches we use it for meals. In that one sentence he told me the air bread was not only previously made aka stale;old but he also managed to say it was too difficult to melt butter add some pepper salt garlic clove/powder and slap it on 2 loaves of bread. Frankly, FRANKS it's laughable how your still business. Can anyone say "restaurant makeover"? Once a year you fool me I guess I've got another 12 months from today to let the hunger get the best of my decisions. Turn down the blasting TV in the back and hire people who specialize in customer service. Garlic bread: butter salt pepper garlic clove/powder Melt butter 30 seconds add ingredients . Done. The Buffalo Chicken and the Bacon Ranch Pizzas are excellent. Everything thing else I've had here (basically the cheesesteak, the parmesan sandwiches, penne vodka) has been average, at best. They always seem to make the pizza too big for the box so when you get home to open it, the crust on one half of the pizza is always folded up with the cheese and sauce sliding down which causes either the crust to break or an avalanche of cheese and sauce to slide right off the crust. Happens every time. They're located in Bloomfield and they deliver... but somehow they don't deliver to all 5.3 square miles of town. The owner isn't exactly the friendliest guy. Basically, the only thing I go here for anymore is a slice of Buffalo or Bacon Ranch... other than that, there are 100 other pizzerias in the area that taste better and give a more pleasurable experience. read more

For what it's worth, the pizza here is not terrible. One of my favorite pies is the tortellini pizza; I like to order it on a red pie (with sauce) instead of a white. It's a pretty good combination. The reason for my one star review is that upon trying to place this order last night whoever answered the phone flat out told me that I can't have that! I've received poor service in the past, but never before has it left me so dumbfounded! You would think a pizza place with the amazing amount of competition that is around would be a little bit more service savvy. I went to Victorio's down the road instead. The pizza not bad, crispy crust, good quality mozzarella not greasy... while eating my pizza , I witnessed same employee who served me my pizza spit something from his mouth into his bare hand (idk meat from his teeth or bread) idk but it was small but clearly visible from mouth to hand. He then flung it to the floor... He never washed or cleaned his hands and continue to serve the next customer that came in.
