I've been here twice and really want to love this place but I just can't. The 1st time we were here, we got the Dur-Avo, Bot Chien & Banh Trang Tron. Our Dur-Avo came out within 5 minutes. After 20 minutes into waiting, we went back to check for Bot Chien & Banh Trang tron. The person behind the counter told us that it would take another 20 minutes for us to get our order. He told us that it usually takes anywhere between 20-40 minutes for the food and that we should call in prior to coming into the store. We were not inform about the timeline at the time or ordering. We ended up leaving without our Bot Chien & Banh Trang Tron because we had to leave. The 2nd time we called in prior to coming into the store because we wanted to see how impressive the food is for them to take 20-40 mins. We only got Bot Chien & Banh Trang Tron. - Bot Chien ($9.50 + $0.50 extra eggs): Crispy bot Chien w/ 2 eggs, sauce was very greasy and overly sweet. I wasn't sure if they gave us the wrong sauce for our order. I took 1 bite and couldn't take another, I actually had to save it and bring it home to make my own sauce for this. - Banh Chan Tron ($7.95): The sauce was really salty, they didn't give you enough peanuts either. After eating their Banh Chan Tron, we decided to go to Trai Cay Goc Pho for theirs instead. As I was eating the 2 dishes that I got, I had to pull out my phone to take notes and made sure I need to write this review because it was pretty frustrating for a place to take this long to prepare the food and yet it did not taste like the food was worth the wait. read more

Long overdue review....I've been here and Uber Eats this a total of 5 times since discovering this hole in the wall....I always order either the avocado durian or avocado ube. My last visit was quite disappointing, I ordered both and waited over 30 minutes...finally got my order and it was watery, with bits of avocado. This was not the usual chunky mashed version I get....I asked the guy why is it so watery and he said the ice melted....he shouldn't have taken over 30 min to make, and to just hand it to me and give me that reply and not even a care or an apology. We were really excited to try this place near the house. We got their most popular which was the Avocado durian smoothie and I wanted a basic drink so I got the pennyworth mung bean. We also added the pandan waffle and fried banana. When we ordered the pandan waffle, we were told a fresh batch is being made and it'll take a few minutes. 20mins went by and we got the first drink, the avocado durian smoothie. This drink is for sure tasty. It was rich and creamy. It had two scoops of durian like ice cream. The avocado was fresh and should have been chilled because the drink came out room temperature from the avocados. The durian was cold. The bits of coconut toppings made the drink more interesting. 5 minutes later I got my pennyworth Mung bean drink. I think this should have been the easiest and first one to come out. No complaints on the mixture. Still waiting on the pandan waffle. By this time, we almost finished our drinks. Finally 40mins later it came out. It did not disappoint because it had the gel like fillings inside and it had the right crisp texture on the outside. However 40mins for a waffle is ridiculous. But wait...we still had fried bananas! This came out minutes later and we took that to-go. This place has potential and serves quality items based on what we got but the wait time needs to be re-evaluated. Hopefully it was a one time thing that day. We had two parties ahead of us which played into the queue. This would not be the go to place if you wanted a quick snack or on your lunch break. Cute, small business with yummy treats and drinks. The pandan waffle ($3) was delicious, warm, sweet and crispy on the outside. The texture inside is chewy, a lot like mochi, and the waffle definitely tastes more like coconut than pandan. Nevertheless, yummy. Shrimp spring rolls ($4) were also excellent, wonderfully made and presented. Great prices that however, seem on the rise. Friendly service, however keep in mind the food DOES come out pretty slowly. Love this place. This place serves all the Vietnamese street snacks you can think of. I grew up eating smashed avocado or dessert style guacamole (lol) from Vietnam to America and this place just hits it. Not many people are fans of durian but should give it a shot. The Dur-Avo smash is the go to with choice of either ube or durian icecream. This location is very low key but a very colorful mom and pop shop. No frills Vietnamese dessert place in GG. It's nice to have a place that serves some of my favorite childhood snacks. Their pennywort drinks were what got me into checking out this place. It's been consistently good and you can modify the sweetness level if I remember correctly. But the star of the show is really their avocado + durian stuff - both smashes and smoothie. I am personally lazy so I prefer the smoothie version so I can just enjoy it while driving but to each his own right... The durian ice cream that they use is so tasty but not too sweet. The avocado is creamy. And the coconut bits + peanut add a nice counter balance texture. Definitely something unique that is hard to find elsewhere to if you are into durian and avocado. The avocado slush was creamy. Came back here with a friend today and got to try a few more things: -Vermicelli with pork and egg roll | I can definitely tell this was made fresh! The dur-avo really is good! However, they have cut down their portion size DRAMATICALLY!! I always order the jumbo size to save some for the next day. Today I ordered it and they filled up the cup to barely above halfway. They cover the cup with foil so I didn't notice how empty the cup was until I got home. Holy crap, the avocado-durian smash is so good! No wonder it's their #1 item. It's avocado and durian mashed together with ice. They top it with a scoop of durian ice cream, roasted nuts and coconut flakes. It's very creamy and definitely a heavy dessert, but so worth it if you're a fan of durian. I got a regular size ($6.75 + tax), so it's a little pricier compared to Van's bakery, but you can definitely taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. They have other drinks, smoothies and desserts here. It was pretty crowded when we went tonight at 8pm. Plenty of people there to get the avo-dur smash. But the wait time wasn't bad. If you want carrot or watermelon juice mixed with your sugar cane juice, this is the place. It's very random and honestly just tasted like extra sweet carrot or watermelon juice. Not like that's ever a bad thing. Parking is easy to find and plenty of seating. About 8 tables that had 4 chairs each. And a big bench. Their ingredients are fresh and they do juice it in front of you. Strangely enough, they don't have any vegetable drinks except the pennyworth and that one celery/carrot drink. It's mostly fruits. Staff was very nice and they're fluent in Vietnamese and English. They asked if I wanted my drink sweater cuz my pineapple juice came out a little sour. I'm always down for more sugar. In terms of ratio, they do 2/3 drink and 1/3 crushed ice. The sugar cane drinks were 1/3 sugar cane, 1/3 juice, and the rest ice as well. They whipped out their measuring cups while pouring. My favorite avocado smoothie spot! They make it with coconut milk so it's perfect for a lactose person like myself. Everything is made fresh here. My husband always gets the Dur-Avo which is smashed avocado with durian ice cream and coconut shavings. Having smashed avocado is awesome because you'll get chunks too. Yes, they smash the avocado instead of blending! We take everyone here and they love it. The leche flan is also a must. It comes with a shot of espresso so be careful if you're getting it late at night hehe. Haven't tried much of the other food though so can't comment there. Got the DurAvo smash. Very good. But I wouldn't recommend ordering the Jumbo size. Just get the regular or large. As you can see in the image. They only fill it about 75% for jumbo size. We ordered 5 items (avocado-durian dessert, thai tea, pandan waffle, ube ice cream, pennywort) and it took almost 30 minutes since they were making everything fresh. Always driving by this spot, I thought it was pretty small and it never really pulled me in, but after months of going to the same study spots, I decided to give it a shot ( plus I was tired of boba/milk teas/crowded areas ). I waited for it to open at 11am today, on a Sunday morning, and gathered my accounting study things. At first, I was distracted by the deep house music but as the afternoon took off, it actually doesn't bother me as much as when I first came in. I got the co-cane with pennyworth, sugarcane, and coconut juice. I asked for more sugarcane than pennyworth based on a previous yelper's review. I suggest waiting about 10 minutes for the flavors to mesh together because it tasted weird at first but awesome after I waited! I haven't tried any of their food items, but everything looks good and I'll probably be back. It's a little chilly in here so I'm glad I wore two long sleeves. As for service, they don't get in the way and they're really nice when you order and don't mind adjustments like the one I requested for my drink. So... that's how I found Frechuss. 4 stars - Pandan green waffle. This one has bits of coconut giving it great texture with a waffle texture with some satisfying chew. I wish it was more crispy, but that's something they would have to change in the batter. Flavor was great though! And it's cooked fresh. That's what I like. It's not half cooked, waiting to be heated up. Nope. Not here, and I like that! 5 stars - Green Thai iced tea. That's the wonderful surprise of this experience. I love Thai tea. I mean I LOVE it. Thai tea is nostalgic and I have one favorite that I compare all else to. Here though the green Thai iced tea is nothing like the orange Thai tea that is more well known. It has a deep flavor, yes. But deeper. And there's something aromatic about it and I just could not figure out what the taste was. It's a flavor I haven't had before. It was GOOD! And THAT is what finding new places is all about, right? Kudos to this place for giving me a new experience. I definitely will be coming back for this drink!!! 5 stars - Drink selection. They've got so much here. And it feels like they take time to make sure it's right. After saying I've never been there before they checked in on me to see if I liked what I ordered. This is my second time i visited this place. Last time i got dur-avo with a large size which is good so today I decided to go with jumbo size and pay more for it. I got my order and it was covered up with a aluminum foil on top of a lid so i didnt see how much it was until i got home and open it. Wow i paid $24 for 2 cups of jumbo dur-avo smashed thats not fill up. Its like 3/4 of a cup to be true for $12 a cup. Hidden in the strip mall at Lampson and Brookhurst is a delightful little restaurant serving VERY fresh food. How did I miss this place? I was going to try the new Vietnamese sandwich place that just opened. There was loads of people there and I love my car, so ain't no way I'm gonna park it in a crowded lot. I parked by Auntie Yese which is closed at 2pm making it cool to park there. I noticed this small, attractive restaurant just a few doors north of it, advertising fresh fruit drinks. I'm game for a fruity delight! The menu is limited, ie one page printed on both sides. Fresh carrot juice caught my eye as did other juices, a few I was not familiar with (Sheesh I am getting old). Lots of pork and vermicelli. What's not to love? In addition to the menu are many signs with additional delights, some lauding the health benefits of different offerings. I was hungry for raw food. While I planned to get a ginger drink blend, I ended up ordering the shrimp spring rolls with Thai iced tea. There was a wait, as they are made to order. There was more food than I can eat. I received three gorgeous rolls. Each individually wrapped so they stay good till eaten. I've only tasted Spring rolls 4-5x. These by far are the best. I say this for a few reasons. First, the green onion. Then the freshly prepped carrot mixed with pickled ginger. The peanut sauce is good. But what really got my attention is the addition of sirachi sauce and the wee container of crunchies. About 20ml of toasted sesame, fried egg roll wrapper, and what appears to be fried shallots. Oh my. That little attention to detail is an indication of the care put into the meal. The forethought and extra work make a difference. This is the type of chef I want to visit. The place is designed tastefully. The room has tables lined up long both walls. You order in the back. And food is delivered to you. There were young men studying at a table near the front. It was way cool to listen to them discuss issues they are studying. The other customers were all young. In fact, I wasn't aware this is an issue of mine until now. I was more than twice the age of the oldest other person present. Bottom line. A clean place serving healthy meals. Good prices. Young adults debating and studying. What a great atmosphere. I came in here recently to study with friends and wow, this place was amazing. Not only do they have good Vietnamese drinks, but they also serve Vietnamese food! My friend ordered their noodle with eggroll and meat. It looked really good and my friend who is Vietnamese told me she really enjoyed it. The place is super clean but at that time, there was no ac. They just had fans on. I don't know why most Vietnamese owned boba place like their place going without ac. This restaurant is located in a decent parking lot. Since I didn't think the whole plaza was busy, parking won't be an issue. For studying, it is a great place to go to since they have plenty of tables.
