After I bought a pair of trousers at Al Weiss, Romeo from Al Weiss took me down to the adjacent tailor shop and a young lady (the sole English speaker from the shop) took care of the rest. Romeo took the measurements and left instructions to the shop. I asked when can I come for the pick-up and Romeo said I can come next day (Sunday). The price was $18 (cash) for hemming a pair of trousers. Parking: Please note that it is easier to find a spot to park on weekdays & Saturday because you will have to pay for metered parking. Metered parking is free on Sunday so you'll have to circle around The LA Fashion District to find a spot to park (or you can just pay flat rate parking instead). Freddy's Tailor Shop closes at 4 PM on Sunday. Next day I called at 1 PM and apparently the young lady said it will take two more hours to finish. I stopped by the shop at 3 PM and they did complete the job as originally promised. While they didn't do a terrible job, it doesn't make a lot of sense to go out of the way for this particular tailor shop and go through the pain of finding a place to park for drop-off & pick-up. read more

I don't know how Al Weiss recommends customers to go here, they did such a terrible job. There was a reason this place had such a bad rating. This place definitely do not deserve even a one star I dropped off few dresses and clothes to be altered they have told me to come next day. I came literally three times that day and come to only 1 being done. I understand that work can be handful but it would have been less frustrating if they did not tell me to come back after an hour each time. Downtown traffic and parking is no joke. I had paid in advance in cash as I was told cash was the only form of payment. I was more deceitful when they received credit card payment from another customer. I tried to retrieve my clothes to be done elsewhere and they would just repeat it will be done in an hour. When I went the third time around that day they told me to trash my blouse. Dropped my clothes off on a Friday. it was a lot. about 5 pants and 6 shirt alterations. Was told they'd be ready next day which I responded "no rush, i can come next Friday" they said ok. I returned the next Saturday-- NOTHING was done. When I asked for my clothes back to go somewhere else, I was told "give us an hour" so I did. Went back, all but 1 thing was done. And that 1 thing was the only thing NOT ruined. The shirts (the the rush) were taken in too much and the pants were taken up too high. Mind you, they noted what I wanted beforehand as I tried everything on at the shop. I was beyond disappointed. Wont ever go back. Ended up making the pants all shorts and using the shirts as dust rags. Worst experience ever. read more

Did a stunningly poor job. Probably the worst money I have ever spent. Had to go somewhere else to get their poor work fixed. Told me it would be ready in an hour and a half, came back three hours later and it still was not complete. Two pants were supposed to be tailored. You get what you pay for. Inexpensive and sometimes quick. Make sure to call to verify your clothes area ready before you try and pickup (even when I called I still waited another 2 hours). The work is just ok for the price. For inexpensive clothes I would say go here. If you have more expensive clothing I would highly suggest going to your regular tailor. I bought a few suits from Al Weiss, who recommended Freddy's Tailor. Freddy's did a decent job hemming my pants but ruined a brand new Calvin Klein suit jacket. I had asked for the jacket to be fitted in, taper the sleeves, and shorten the sleeves. The jacket was nicely fitted in, a d the sleeves were tapered a little too snug but it looked fine. The shortening of the sleeves, however, ruined my jacket because not only did they shorten the sleeves, they also shorted the jacket (aka hemmed it) by about an inch and a half, even though I didn't ask for it! Now the jacket is too short, which doesn't go with my frame and looks ridiculous, so the jacket is worthless. And mind you, this was a brand new jacket that I had only worn once. I'm now left with what appears to be a brand new shrunken designer suit that Imm too embarrassed to wear. I blame myself. I had read the reviews from previous Yelps so I knew better, yet I decided to bring my jacket here. My advice to you: steer clear from here and find your self a real, professional, experience tailor like Marin Tailor. read more

After the first time they tailored my suit pants, the left leg was way so tight that I couldn't fit into it. Right leg was fine. Also they tailored them too short. Went back to get it re-tailored. Posted pictures of the outcome after the second time I went there. Please take a look. They literally just didn't care that the job they did was really really REALLY poor. Third pic shows fraying at the crotch part of the suit. There was originally a wad of yarn sticking out and I didn't know that until someone pointed it out at the wedding. They have good prices and are relatively fast in the turnaround of your clothes. What I didn't like is that when I went to pick up my suit jacket that I took to get adjusted because it was fitting too big. They had misplaced my jacked and I had to wait and help them look for it. I wasted about 30 minutes waiting for them to find it. Then when I tried it on it was still too loose. So they had to do it again. I had to make a third trip there. I was referred to this tailor from the local suit shop around the corner as I'm sure most of the clients this place came from there. The prices are decent $15 hem pants $15 take the waist in or out $25 to slim the jacket and shorten the sleeves The promised 1hr or even same day service is not true especially on weekends. I had brought in two suits from the shop around the corner and was promised a specific waiting time written on the receipt. When I came back I had to wait an additional hour. The service : The service is beyond poor. Only one guy who speaks English carries out the measurements but only does what he feels and not ask your opinion. Such as " is that good, you want tighter / looser, shorter or longer?" He just pins it super fast and tries to rush you off to get the next customer in front of the mirror. You try to be nice but no equal emotion is given back. I had my grooms men's suits tailored here. One of them had to come back 3 times because they made the slacks too short and didn't follow specific instructions that were written on the ticket. He even brought in other more expensive slacks and now he has to turn them into shorts because there's no way to fix it. My father and father in law had a bad experience as well. Too rushed and not treated professionally and compared to my other local tailors in OC, this spot does half the quality of work. But the saying goes you get what you pay for. Freddy's tailors clothes well but don't leave your leather goods here. Instead of communicating that the shop was not able to machine sew my leather purse, they hand sewed my purse and sent me on my way. Had I not inspected my item, I would have no clue that it was not repaired properly until I got home. They also don't do refunds if you don't like their work. Take caution. read more

Came here to fix two jackets and two pants. Freddie took no time at all (about 3 minutes) measuring me, which wasn't a good sign. He reassured me that he's gotten my measurements, and that my clothes would be ready in a week. Quoted $80 for tightening two pants and one jacket. My order was not ready as promised, and I had to come back twice for them. Upon examination, the interior stitching of my pants was hastily and shoddily done (see images -- Freddie's stitching is obviously less sturdy and subpar). Do yourself a favor: avoid this place. Gloria's Alterations down the road are 50% faster, half the price, and a thousand times more reliable. read more

Went to Freddy's after Al Weis's referral to alter my suit. I needed to get the coat arms and pants hemmed as well as to have the pants tapered. These were the recommendations from Al Weis. When I got there, he told me to wear the suit, in which I did. He made marks on my suit where it needed hems, but nothing about the tapering. I told him about this and that my preference is to have my pants tapered. Check this out - the dude looked at me and nonchalantly said, "No. You don't need it tapered. It is fine." Well, I politely said, "I understand your opinion, but please help me with this." Then he goes, "OK here, (moved my body towards the mirror) look at yourself in the mirror. See, it is fine. We are busy and it is going to take longer." Right then, I did not know what to say. A few seconds of silence looking at this clown was definitely giving an awkward and upsetting feeling. I mean, how are you, as someone who work in a business, going to tell a customer what they wanted? It's like me going to a grocery to buy a banana and a worker there tells me I should not buy this fruit, but should rather purchase an apple. This would be weird as fck, right? So yea, I naturally withdrew from this Freddy's. As I was having my suit put back in the suit bag, the clown had to add on a few words being a little passive aggressive. He didn't even look at me. He said while shaking his head, "You know, we and Al Weis work together." Unbelievable, man. I was thinking in my head - this dude needs to shut the fck up and give me back my damn suit. I went back to Al Weis, because they initially told me that they had another referral. I subsequently went to Valera's Tailor Shop which is a couple of blocks walk which wasn't bad. Man, it was night and day as far as customer service is concerned. And, the tailoring for my suit, which included the pants tapering haha, was superb! I left from Valera's a happy man. Freddy's pretty awesome. He doesn't smile much because I probably pissed him off with all my questions and change-of-minds. But he means well. What made me really appreciate him was that when I went to pick up my pants and try to them, I parked without paying for the meter, thinking that I'd only take 5 minutes. I took maybe 7 minutes, but that was long enough for parking enforcement to pull up, but I was in the dressing room and didn't know it. Freddy gave me a holler and I changed quickly, ran out, waved goodbye, and got into the car. As I pulled away I saw that the meter was now blinking green because Freddy must've put some money into it. Thanks Freddy. Oh, and the pants were good too. I got some dress pants hemmed and tapered (I've never had pants tapered before), and overall I'm very pleased with the outcome and thought the price was very reasonable, fair, and affordable (not that I know much about tailoring prices). I didn't really know the right length to get it (i only googled and learned about full-break, half-break, no-break about dress pants after I got the pants back) but what Freddy picked out was a pretty good choice. It's full-ish break if I wear the pants casually low and medium-break if I wear it closer to my naval. read more

I've been to Freddy's a number of times on recommendations from Al Weiss. In all, I had him hem two pairs of suit pants, three pairs of chinos, and adjust the sleeve length of a suit jacket. The hem on the suit pants was fine (which is why I came back), but the hem on the chinos were sloppily done. Also the adjusting of the suit jacket sleeves was bad. Freddy is a nice man, but everyone who's gone to him knows that he always takes longer than he says he will. I'd also say there's only a 30-35% chance that he'll do a good job. I've given him more than once chance and unfortunately I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. read more

Bought a suit from Al Weiss and was referred here for alterations. Freddy did a great job of making the suit jacket and pants fitted and it looked fantastic. I expressed some concern over the pant length - it seemed as the fabric around the ankles started to bunch. Freddy let me know this is very normal and with the right shoes, it would look great. Unfortunately, as I tried on the pants before a wedding, even with the right shoes the fabric seemed to bunch around the ankle. I called Freddy and he assured me that it wasn't a problem, and that he would be happy to make them to my liking. I brought the pants back in, he fixed the fabric so that they didn't bunch, and he got me in and out in 20 minutes and made sure I was satisfied. Suit was well done, price was decent ($15 for jacket alteration and $15 for pants). Make sure to let him know exactly how you like it, but overall, alterations on suit look great. read more

I went to this tailor shop after buying my tux from Al Weiss. They recommend their customers down here as it's a short walk and they get the job done. I paid $15 to get my pants hemmed and tapered. I'm definitely not complaining about the price! The only problem I had was that things seemed a little hectic. And there were times I felt I couldn't adequately hear or understand what the front man was saying, but not sure if that's my problem or his problem. I won't hold that against them though because like I said, things were definitely a little hectic. He had to handle our group of 7, plus about 3 guys in front and behind us. Still, things could've been a bit smoother. Other than that, things go pretty quickly. Wait in line, change into your stuff, get measured and pinned, change out, hand them the stuff, pay, and wait. Boom. Short and sweet. I'm going to pickup my tux this Wednesday (5/4) so I'll update the review after seeing how they did. read more

I bought a suit for my son from Al Weiss and they referred me to Freddy's Tailor Shop. There were two people ahead of us, so I decided to leave my son and go shopping around the garment district. I met up with my son about half an hour later and he said the tailoring would be ready in about an hour. He handed me a receipt for $35 ($5 for the pants hem and $30 for the jacket sleeves!). I nearly blew up! I thought they were trying to rip him off! My last suit I bought cost $5 for the pants hem and $12 for the jacket sleeves. I went back to try to take the suit elsewhere, but the work was already done. They explained that particular suit was especially difficult to do the sleeves. Yeah right, yada yada yada. Though I was happy with the suit from Al Weiss, I will not go there again if they continue to refer their customers to this crooked tailor shop. read more

Great job on my shirts and pants. I went to al Weiss to get a suit and they sent me here to get my pants tailored. I brought a few of my shirts from home and they did them for $12 each. I was happy with the work they did, but the tailors saw the shirts still loosely fitting on me, and took them off my back and redid them right in front of me. Talk about great service. After visiting one of the shops down the street, my boyfriend purchased 2 suits but needed them to be fitted. They recommended Freddy's so we walked around the corner to the shop. It's a small place with about 4 people working inside sewing away. Freddy came out (a young guy) and asked my boyfriend to try them on so he could start measuring them. It all happened so fast. We were in and out within 20 minutes. We came in on a Sunday before memorial day and he had 2 suits (2 pants, 2 jackets) done for us the next day in 24 hours. Total for everything was around $70. They turned out great! Seriously, they were perfectly fitted and looked spectacular. He had my boyfriend try everything on when he picked up and made sure he was very pleased.
