Beware of fraudulent practices and hidden costs. Receipt said that we prepaid for appliances, install and delivery. When are stove was installed we were charged another $367. The sales person never mentioned the additional cost and the receipt looked like we prepaid for appliances and install. Sales person didn't let us know about additional costs because I suspect he was hoping to make a sale. Also, sales person didn't ask about our configuration for washer and dryer so that the doors would open correctly and there would be the right length of electrical chord. 3 more visits until all the problems were solved. When I called the manager to let him know how misleading his sales receipt and sales people were, he did nothing to remedy the situation. I would not recommend this appliance store. The Genera Electric Refrigerator we purchased in October of 2021 is broken down again, We first had to have Fred's come out 3 times to adjust the doors so they would close correctly. They said it was a poorly designed refrigerator. Now the entire refrigerator has quit working. It started with the freezer going out, then the top part has quit working too. It's up to 60 degrees. We ordered parts 2 weeks ago and they are still not in. In the mean time, we have been using dry ice (very expensive) to cool it. We have been a loyal purchaser of many appliances over the last 40 years but will do everything possible not to do business with Fred's Appliance store in Spokane, WA again. read more

Had a refrigerator with a freezer section icing up so refer would turn warm. Called Fred's and had service appointment for October 4. Was called on the 2nd asking if they could come that day. Two techs arrived and they investigated and said that two parts needed to be replaced. They collected the $130 for showing up and said I would be contacted with an estimate for repair. After not hearing from them, I called the service department to inquire on October 10th. They found the order and said two parts were listed but would need to talk to their tech. Was called back and told the two parts would be approximately $230 and would I like to have them ordered. Since this is an older refer, I said I would like to know the labor cost before authorizing repairs and was told they would need to get back to me. On October 23rd, still have not heard from them. It's been a total of 4 months now that I have been waiting for it to get fixed (still not fixed and have not heard from them). Let me share with you my current experience with Fred's Appliance. 44 days ago i woke up and went to our fridge to get breakfast going for my wife as she took care of our two month old baby. I realized that all our food was warm and the freezer had thawed and we lost all our food and breast milk that my wife had worked so hard to stock up. I realize that the fridge failing is not Fred's fault, but the experience we have had since has been absolutely horrible! They got a tech out to look at the fridge within a few days and said that it needed a new compressor and it was a few weeks out. The compressor came in and a different tech came out to install the compressor and they had got the wrong compressor but made it fit which seemed wrong. After the install of the new compressor the fridge still wasn't working and the tech said it needed a new evaporator. So we waited another few weeks for the evaporator to show up. Today once again a different tech showed up to install the evaporator and after more work on the fridge they said the fridge is not fixable and that they would have to order a new one under warranty. So after 44 days without a fridge with a frustrated Mother and baby at home we still do not have a fridge and are waiting for a new one. I know this review will fall on deaf ears from Fred's as has all our phone calls pleading with them to do something for my family. My wife and I are building a home in the spring and had gone to Fred's to pick out our appliances for our new home prior to all this happening. We planned on purchasing $26,000 worth of appliances, but after this experience I will never work with them again. I bought a new washing machine on a Friday. It was delivered on Tuesday . Delivery fee was $120. It didn't work. I called Fred's, was told to contact repair service. They got a tech to come at 8:30 the next morning. A bad water inlet valve. I made a call to Fred's Appliance wed morning, was told waiting on the manager to decide what to do. I called again in the afternoon, was told the same thing. I went to the shop Thurs morning. After about an hr, I got approval to have the washing machine replaced. I had to bring the broken washer to the shop, then install the new one. A service I paid $120 for. I did get a working machine a week after I paid for it. We bought a Bosch Dishwasher with five year extended warranty at Fred's in Kennewick October 25, 2019. Worked for about nine months. First request for repair service was in August 2020. Fast forward to today, May 12, 2021. I've lost track of the times the repair tech has been to our house...eight times, I believe. He's practically rebuilt the dishwasher but still, it does not work. I've spent hours waiting on hold and talking to the service department. I've spent days and weeks waiting for promised phone calls, scheduling another repair visit, waiting for scheduled day to arrive. And ten months later, I am still hand washing dishes. After reading other reviews for Fred's Appliance on Yelp, I see that I'm fighting a lost cause. I'm done with Fred's. AVOID! Just purchased an LG Refrigerator from Josh in March. Fridge was not delivered until April 9th as Josh was on vacation for two weeks. Immediately upon install the fridge was not working and installers told us that we have to work with our sale person Josh to have a tech come out and fix it. Spoke to Josh on 4/9 to schedule the repair. 4/11 Repair tech came out and tried to fix the fridge. Told us that he had to order an new Control Board and a new Air Filter cover (which was broken during install) for the BRAND NEW fridge but it will take at least two weeks for this new board to come in. Tech also told us to call Josh and discuss this with him as we purchased the Fred's Appliance additional warranty which Josh said if the fridge didn't work would be replaced. Spoke to Josh on 4/11 only to be told that we would have to wait for the control board to come in and then they would schedule another repair Tech to come out and fix the control board and Air Filter cover. So now we have a brand new fridge that does not work and cannot be repaired for weeks. Paid full price for basically something that is now refurbished if they can even get it fixed. read more

Look elsewhere!!!! What a nightmare dealing with Fred's. I called to request a service call for our double oven on Jan. 24, 2023. We had this same failure a few years ago and I told the scheduler which part was needed. An appointment was made for February 10th. On that morning they called and said that they didn't have anyone available to come due to illness or whatever. They then set the next appointment for February 23rd. On the morning of Feb 23rd they called and said they wouldn't be able to come again. The next appointment was set for March 6th and the same thing happened that morning. Finally on March 17th 2 repairmen show up without the part that they were supposed to bring. Being a glutton for punishment I agreed they could order the part and get the oven repaired as long as it would be be prior to Easter when my wife would need both ovens. On March 29th the scheduler called and said that the part was in and the next available slot was April 24th. I explained that I was assured that it would be installed prior to Easter which is April 9th this year and was told that would not be possible. At that point I'd enough and walked away from the fiasco that I should have ended much earlier. To top things off they quoted $200 more for the part than other suppliers and wanted $250/hr for labor. To recap: 3 no shows that wasted my time and then on the 4th they show up without the part. All this over a 2 month time frame. It appears that when they miss an appointment that your next opportunity will be pushed out to the end of the waiting list. Stay away!!! read more

I planned to buy an expensive range from them and I am grateful I needed service on something else before we purchased the range because this is the worst customer service I may have ever had. We were told it would take a month before anyone could come out and we got on the schedule and got a call the day they were supposed to come and were told that they would be there in the afternoon. Never showed. We have called now 3 times and now I am told we are scheduled for tomorrow - no one ever called to ask us if we would even be home. We won't be. My dishwasher was under warranty and I called for a repair. They could not send someone for three weeks. The repairman finally came and said it was a loose sensor. The sensor stopped working again within two loads. I called and it is another three weeks before they can send someone out to "diagnose" the problem. Wait times on the phone and for the repair are inexcusably long. It seems to me if you push a warranty on customers during the purchase process you should be able to honor it. I did go to the store since I could not get anyone on the phone. There were 5 salesMEN standing there, no customers and yet they were incapable of helping the understaffed maintenance department. The repairperson came again and said it was eggshells in my drain line. I insisted he order a new sensor and of course the sensor stopped working after two loads. I am three months out without a dishwasher that has a faulty sensor and the repairman still insists he is only ordering a new sensor because I insisted. Bought a washer and dryer from these crooks. The warehouse druggies damaged both of them badly when loading them and when we complained the peddlers in the store said, "Well you should have checked them before you left!" Why? They were fully boxed and damaged and unboxing them then tossing the garbage in their loading area seemed a bit low brow. They offered a 10% credit and sent a check for a random $70 dollars which was more like 6% of one appliance. The sales clowns then got rude on the phone and said, "If you don't like it bring them back." We agreed and returned them. Then we had to file a dispute with the CC company to get the money returned. While they might sell a few decent appliances, they are a bit crooked and extremely dishonest to deal with. Do you need a stove this badly? I highly recommend you find another store or just go to Home Depot or Lowe's, these guys stink. Oh, yeah. I'm a twenty year customer this was the 4th set of washer/dryer and we have had a full kitchen from them. The decline in customer service since 2019 is stunning. Buyer beware - Do not buy from Fred's Appliances. They do not deliver appliances and don't care about their customers after sale is done. I went to Fred's because I wanted my dryer vented to the left. The sales person typed it in my paperwork but did not charge me for the side vent kit. When the delivery people came, dryer was not correct so I was on the phone with Fred's and they were on phone with warehouse. They moved washer into laundry room and had to reload dryer into truck and take back to warehouse which one of the guys was not happy about. I was still upstairs finishing call when they were done. I signed for delivery of washer and that they were taking dryer. They had me sign again. When I asked what it was they said an acknowledgement that they didn't use hand truck inside house. It was actually a waiver to damages. They ripped up my new vinyl floor! They didn't say anything to me and had me sign a waiver. My fault for not reading what I signed or checking floor for damages. Fred's won't do anything because the delivery people are not their employees even thought they hired them. They do not deliver their appliances which I was not told. On December 20, 2023 I called because the refrigerator door was not closing. They sent a repair person out to look at it on the 29th. He said they needed to order a part, and if I didn't hear anything from them in a week to call. I called today, January 10, 2024 and was told the part is expected to come in on the 18th. At that time someone would call to set up a time to make the repairs. We're talking almost a month without a working fridge. There doesn't seem to be any sense of urgency on their part. I will never buy from Fred's again. Post-sales communication re delivery and installation is poor to nil. I had to give numerous calls to sales person from Fred's, delivery people from Fred's and installers from J&J to learn what the procedure was for delivery, removal of previous fridge and installation. I would get one story from the sales people and another from delivery and installation. Sales would tell me what delivery would do and delivery said, and I quote 'Sales people will promise anything. But we don't do that. We're another department.' Sales would tell me what the installers would do and I would call the installers and they would tell me that was incorrect. So I would go back to sales and try again. This all could have been solved by a page from Fred's when we bought the (very expensive SubZero) fridge explaining the procedure so that everyone was on the same page. When I suggested this to the sales manager, he placated me and seemed uninterested in resolving the issue. I have also had service from Fred's. Usually there would need to be a part ordered. Sometimes it would get ordered, sometimes not. But even if it was ordered, I never received a call that it had arrived, which meant I needed to call weekly to find out. And they won't schedule the Followup appointment until the part comes in. And if the part came in and I hadn't called in time, they returned the part to the supplier. The weekly call was necessary in any case to learn whether they had, in fact, ordered the part. This is a problem with coordination and communication and responsibility which must come from the top as no one further on down seems to care. Avoid them if at all possible. read more

We have purchased numerous appliances over the years through them and have had really great service until this last time in December. Our Bosch dishwasher stopped working and showed an error code. I called and scheduled a warranty repair service call. It was scheduled for a couple weeks and the person who scheduled it, went and checked to make sure that it was a date the repair technician will be in our area. A couple hours later they called and now we have to wait over 40 days before someone can be out to look at the dishwasher. We finally called Jen Air directly and they said Freds never did a nationwide search as they should have done. The main part was located and shipped to Freds. Called Freds immediately and they said they never received it!! Call Jen Air back and it took them several hours to get Freds to realize they actually HAD received it. We purchased a washer and dryer set at Freds on Division and set was delivered on December 22 nd at 1:30 PM. appliances were purchased thru the home owner and installed by freds. after having platinum our contractor convert the dryer to LP it would not work. the homeowner called freds appliance on Division around 4:30 PM same day, granted she was not happy with her new dryer not working and kind of angry the Fred's rep was totally rude and unhelpful. he then proceeded to hang up on the home owner. We ordered a fridge in January to have delivered in April when the kitchen was ready for it. They delivered and the door of the fridge caused a problem and made it stop working. After they finally sent a tech out, they unhooked electrical part of the door so it at least chilled while they ordered a part. Many weeks later the part was in so a tech was scheduled for another couple weeks out. Guess what, didn't work. Now they want us to wait for a whole door to be ordered in another 5-8 weeks. We have had a partially functioning fridge for months now and we just want a replacement fridge but they refuse to accept any responsibility and put it all on GE. The salesman was extremely rude on the phone. Don't buy here if you want any service or help or a functioning product in a reasonable time frame. This was the worst consumer experience I have ever had! Nothing the salesman promised happened, the delivery service, J&J, was completely incompetent! They dropped the first fridge bringing it into the house, chipping my brick stairs in the process. They gouged my kitchen door frame taking the old fridge out, which they argued with us they couldn't do. The didn't use a skid pad, despite the salesman assurance they would, and now my newly refinished wood floors have indents and a gouge. We had the washer only one month when it began to work poorly. Fred's Appliance service repair is backed up 6-8 weeks.The out-of-store repairman has come out twice after waiting 3 weeks each time interval. He has not been able to bring the parts to replace the faulty parts in the washer. We are still waiting. The advertisement for, "a hometown store ", seems false to us. They have been rude to us on the phone. They been have abruptly clear that if anything is wrong with the washer we have to go through the manufacturer. We have waited for 30 minutes on the phone to speak to the manufacturer. No other retailers in the Tri-Cities has reacted as badly to us as Fred's Appliance. read more

I came in, was greeted on a fair amount of time( they were helping other customers) they asked how could the help me, I told them kinda what I was looking for and almost immediately they have me recommendations. I was on and out. I opted to pick up because my dryer I was out and I had already been without for over a week & couldn't wait another two weeks. A few days later I had to rent a uhaul but I made it to their wharehouse. The guys there were also so nice and helpful. It took them a minute because they couldn't find one of the appliances but was very apologetic. Unfortunately I got home and dryer was severely denttd. I immediately called my sales guy. First, and most importantly, I write this review to spare you, the consumer, from having to deal with a customer service department which excels in ensuring that, when a customer is forced to call the service department, when the call ends, the customer wishes they had bought their appliances elsewhere. Second, when you are told you will receive a call back, do not expect one. How does a company, which provides enthusiastic sales people, and yet zero professional after-sale customer-service, stay in business? That is a great question. The only training class freds must hold for its after-sale customer-service is on how to screen calls when wanting to talk with senior management, and in the art of obfuscation. The other training class held by freds is on how to not give any understanding whatsoever when a customer has been waiting a month for a part, and calls to express their frustration. What freds fails to understand is that there are competitors for the same products - competitors who will offer the same, if not better pricing, and which certainly could not possibly offer worse after-sale service. I urge the reader to disregard the small number of "5-star" reviews, and trust the one-stars. They are the truth. Had we taken the time to read said reviews, we would have purchased our appliances from Ferguson, BestBuy or Costco. When having service on an appliance performed, and parts ordered, do not take it on faith that the parts have been ordered. Do yourself a favor, and call the appliance manufacturer's parts department to see if an order has in fact been placed. And lastly, fellow consumers, you may be thinking that, "Oh, this guy's a small time appliance buyer, who's had one bad experience.". Unfortunately that is not the case. Previous service calls have resulted in freds technicians dropping parts on our hardwood floors, wrong parts ordered, furthering delays to repairs on Bosch built-in oven and microwave. As pf today I am scheduled to have the set delivered and come to find out the manager has lied, On my receipt is state NOTHING about me installing but on the delivery, the guys work order states that I am too install and I suppose my husband will do it. Absolute horrible customer service. Right before thanksgiving my GE dishwasher quit working after less than three years which, I don't blame on them as it was control board failure, but the soonest they could get a tech out for the warranty repair was December 26th. I waited the month to only be told the tech called out sick that day and I was now bumped to January 10th. Had to take a day off from work for the tech to look at it for 15mins and order the part. Part arrived January 17th but I now have to wait till February 22nd to have it installed. Tech installed the part only for it to not be the problem at all. Another parts was ordered and three more weeks went by before they could install it and of course it didn't fix it either. Finally after another service call and time i had to lose at work they got it working March 27th. Their "Techs" solution was to replace every electrical part on the entire dishwasher and hope for the best. This is what you get from them for repairs throw parts at it and pray. Four months with no working dishwasher and having to continually take time off from work for them to just push it out and not fix it. I paid extra for the warranty. If you are buying appliances do not buy from them they cant support the product they sell or even treat their customers with respect. We spent $5,000. at Fred's purchasing new appliances the first time we visited the Valley Store. That amount doesn't include our second visit. We finally had to call for repair. It has now been over a month and a half waiting for a repairman. The first excuse for a no show was, after waiting a month, "the repairman was injured and can only do 5 service calls per day. We weren't one of them". Second excuse, "the girl who booked the appointment was new and didn't know she should have ordered the part we needed replaced". Had to wait 2 more weeks and this morning, day of the appointment, telling us "the repairman called in sick today and is booked out until the end of April". The way that Fred's saturates the advertising market, you would think they would be responsive to customers. I placed an order online for a major appliance. The website doesn't allow you to actually purchase the product, but to place an order and "a representative will contact you." It has been over a week since order places and no representative has bothered to call. My husband and I bought a Frigidaire refrigerator from this company. The first sign I should have heeded that there would be trouble, was that it was going to take 10 days to deliver. After 8 months it broke down, so we called for service. The first appointment that was available was 3 weeks later. The tech came out, looked it over and said he had to order parts and it would take 3 weeks to get them. I called after 3 weeks (they will not call you) and was told the parts were in. I made another appointment. The earliest one was again 3 weeks out. The tech came and discovered it wasn't what he thought it was earlier. he found out it was a buildup of ice on the fan blades. He got rid of the iceberg and ordered a different part. Again with 3 weeks for parts and another 3 weeks for repair. The problem appeared again 6-7 weeks later. The new problem was the warrantee had expired a month earlier. The woman I talked to (who was extremely rude) said we had to go to the manufacturer for help. The problem was the same for 5 months and it was only a month past the warrantee expiration. They do not stand by the products they sell. Their repair and appointment dept. are horrible, and their customer service needs help. I would never recommend them to ANYONE. read more

If there is another appliance store you can buy from, even a different Fred's, do it. We ordered over $30K in appliances from the Fred's on Monroe and what a nightmare. When it was time for install last summer, four things from our order showed up damaged (one was actually the replacement washer for the first washer that was delivered damaged!). Some of the boxes the appliances came in had no damage, others boxes were quite damaged. If a box has a lot of damage, wouldn't it seem wise to look in the box before delivering? The Subzero refrigerator that was delivered damaged wasn't even in a box just wrapped in the clear plastic so the damage was visible. There were no other SubZeros in that model in stock so we had to use a cheap dented refrigerator that Fred's "loaned" us until ours showed up. That gets us to the supply chain issue. Here's the thing...we all know there was a supply chain issue BUT when the refrigerator showed up damaged, we asked how long before the replacement would come. Of course I wanted it by the holidays and was reassured by THIS Fred's that it would arrive by November. I thought it seemed a little too convenient that it would show up at that time I requested so I called all the other local Fred's and several Fred's in Montana to find out their ETAs. I was told January by every single store. I gave THIS Fred's the benefit of the doubt hoping that we were somehow magically getting it earlier than everywhere else. When November was approaching and I had to contact them to find out to find out the status, guess what ETA is was given...January. Isn't it odd that the ETA was what every other store told me from the beginning?! Of course, January came and went and nothing. We finally got it in March which was nine months after they delivered all the damages appliances to us. Unfortunately, my initial hope that we were somehow getting our refrigerator earlier than others kept me from cancelling the order with this Fred's and placing it with a store that was honest about the ETA. When the refrigerator was finally delivered, Fred's insisted we have their ugly dented refrigerator empty and ready to be taken away right then. Instead of letting us keep it for the day while the other was being installed, we had to move everything into coolers to keep the items cold/frozen then move it again after the new one finally got cold. I'll step back and also say that the store customer service reps who answer the phones, including the manager, were rude and unresponsive when all the problems first happened with the damaged appliances. It was as if we were bothering them/being unreasonable. I felt sorry for the sales rep we dealt with from the beginning who had to be in the middle of this mess. When our bill for the refrigerator came, I was not in a hurry to pay them and only did so once they threatened a lien. Heck we had to wait after being lied to so they could wait for their money. I am sure they will come back with a reply about supply chain issues so let me be clear that the supply chain issue is not the reason I wouldn't buy from THIS Fred's. I don't care if you are spending a lot of money or a little money, buy your appliances from some other store. Fred's on Monroe doesn't deserve your business/money. I hope they keep this review in mind when times get lean which is going to happen sooner or later. I stick my tongue out at the TV every time a Fred's commercial comes on.
