I've been a fan of Freebirds since my high school days in College Station, and it's still one of my favorite places for a great burrito. While you can tell the difference since it transitioned to more of a corporate feel, the food quality and friendly vibe remain solid. This Overton location is a great spot, especially when we're in Fort Worth visiting Costco or exploring the nearby shops. It's tucked into a shopping center, so you have to look for it, but parking is convenient, and the overall experience is always worth it. My go-to order is a chicken burrito with dark meat (more moist for me), cilantro rice, refried beans, mixed cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and a little ranch. I also add their dried garlic, which is an underrated gem--so good inside the burrito! Their tortillas are always fresh, and the burrito is wrapped perfectly every time. I can't resist their queso with chips, and they have a solid drink selection (usually a Dr Pepper or tea for me). If you have room, their brownies are a must-try, though I rarely manage to save space for one these days. Freebirds is still a great option for fresh, high-quality ingredients and lots of customization. I also like that in addition to have pico de gallo.. you ALSO have onions AND cilantro to add to your bowl/burrito.. and I like that in addition to sour cream, you can opt to add other dressings as well! While I wait, more employees suddenly come out of the woodwork realizing how bad the service is going and that people are actually wanting food from a place that serves food. More options, more variety, better value, etc... That said, something I've always loved about freebirds is their staff culture. We ordered delivery for 2 burritos. First, the app is bad. It lags and hard to navigate. We are vegan so I didn't want any dairy or meat on the burritos. My husband's arrived as ordered. Mine arrived with a lot of cheese on it which tore my stomach up with just the one bite I took. I don't want to have to double-check an order to make sure something is ordered correctly. I usually stick with chicken but their beef is really good too. I had a good experience here today. I've been burned by DoorDash too many times recently, so I decided to order pickup from this location. They estimated it would be ready within ten minutes after my order submission, so I headed out immediately. When I got there the store was clean and they had my order ready and waiting safely behind the counter. The employees were surprisingly kind and at least two of them wished me a goodnight. We would highly recommend as they offer something for everyone! The vegans had the vegan nachos and the Freebird Vegan Chorizo burrito. A-H-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! The choices were fantastic, from tortilla, plant based protein, all the delicious insides and wrapped with goodness! The only thing we were missing is vegan cheese (shredded and nacho cheese). That would be a great added benefit and what was missing from the nachos! The portions are out of control! So HUGE! For $2 more you can make a Monster burrito which is basically a second burrito. I got the monster size burrito. I wld recommend getting the freebird. Found out that they just add more rice and beans to the larger size to make it look bigger. They dont add extra meat. I got the cajun/cayenne wrap. I like the spice of the wrap. Got steak and white chicken with grilled veggies, queso, cheddar jack cheese. I love the combination of it all. I get there creamy jalapeno sauce on the side. If you like a good heat to your food, I suggest this sauce. There queso is also very flavorful. I just bought lunch at this location for the first time and let me tell you, I am very disappointed. I ordered the Monster bowl and let me tell you they skimped on everything except for the lettuce. The amount of meat they put in this bowl is maybe about a tablespoon. I have been to the Dallas location and they actually serve an amount to be considered a "monster" bowl. I was hoping to come here because I don't like Chipotle's portions but for what I got I was better off going there. Not impressive... they charge you for every little detail. $1 for sour cream, $1.75 for guacamole, $1 for queso, if you want shredded cheese and queso they charge you for both. Their burritos do have more choices for tortillas, but they were very sticky and it gets caught all in your teeth. The burrito bowls are pricer and there is less in them. They barely put anything! Their drink selection is only Pepsi products with only pink lemonade not regular. I don't drink soda... so being charged $2.25 for nasty tea or pink sugar flavorade fake lemonade made one sad panda! I will say this it one of the best here in Fort Worth Tx. The people are nice and take care of u. They will pile on the stuff if u ask. The food taste great and it fills u up so u can make 2 meals out of it. That also have that beyond meat (I think that is the name of it) for vegans and the taste not bad for plant based food. Chipotle, eat your heart out! This place is like the cooler, more enjoyable cousin of the other burrito chain. If you are in the TX vicinity, you should check it out. I was visiting Fort Worth for a business trip and I did some research trying to find good, affordable restaurants near the hotel. This was one of the higher ranked restaurants in the area, so I had to check it out. I walked in and was greeted by a casual, punky sort of decor and a friendly young staff working to rock music in the background. I made my way to the counter and got the gist for how to order when a young girl asked me what I'd like. I got a Monster burrito with half steak and half carnitas (great combo and great quality) in a spinach tortilla (there are four choices), with white rice (two choices), refried beans (two choices), mixed cheese (two choices), grilled onions and peppers, 3 salsas, lettuce, tomato, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I don't remember in a very large package for ~$8. It was at least 1.5 times the size of a stuffed Chipotle burrito, too. So the food was plentiful, good, cheap, and solid quality, but what about the staff? The staff was stellar. They look a little rough around the edges, but they are very friendly, helpful, and (at least while I was eating there) hard working. Two of them were actively cleaning different parts of the restaurant in parallel and were doing a thorough and rigorous job, too. One offered to refill my drink or get me anything else I needed amidst her scrubbing and refilling the ice machine. I'll be honest, I was very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience of dining here. It's a great place to go for a cheap, but very filling, and good quality meal. Come check it out. Summary: Great food, super inexpensive, awesome staff, clean, great music, huge variety of food items. A must check out place for a large meal under $10. Lots of parking. As a 10 year vegan my wife and I hit this place on a road trip and have to say I wasn't very impressed. And very pleased that it's got pure vegan options but the impossible meat was extremely dry the potatoes were extremely dry and both were very overcooked. They have more options to choose from, like the 4 types of tortillas to choose from, grilled onions and peppers, jalapenos, queso (always a Texas favorite...) You have four different sizes to choose from from the hyBIRD to the Super Monster... The atmosphere is so fun... the decor is awesome. People make all types of "things" with the foil around their burritos that they then display on the wall... today I saw a family of four making race cars... how rad is that?
