I went in on March 30, around 5:30 pm, and saw that they had closed at 4 pm. There was a guy (Phillip) doing a smog check so I decided to ask if there was any chance he could do mine...and he said yes. I was thrilled, since I'd been driving around for an hour looking for a place. The guys working there were both very nice and friendly, and gave me a good discount. He was so friendly and happened to have a special right now. 15 min to closing and he still invited me to come right down so I did. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Even though there were a couple of customers in front of me, they managed to get me out of there in 30 minutes. The price was less than a paid before for my last 2 smog checks. I have never taken my car to get a smog as it was always my mom's doing, but this year I did it myself. I was nervous because I didn't know what the process was but Phillip was very very helpful and even though it was closing hours he still took my car in and ran the test. Very Confusing? Big Bopper ad says you open at 9:00 am on Sunday . Yelp says you open at 10:00 am on Sunday .your door says your closed on Sunday , yet the open sign is on . 10:15 am on Sunday and no one is here. I am not impressed. read more

One thing I would recommend is wifi for the customers. I was just a little too far for the free McD's and Starbuck's wifi. I wouldn't really recommend this place to anyone. I went in with a problem car that I new was a problem car and I even told them it was a problem car. The man that was doing the test on my car was having an attitude with the previous costumer and went straight into working in mine with the same. He was also trying to rush things because it was almost closing time. When they finally got to my car which, I was waiting for almost two hours for them to get to, they started to have problems and after only about 10-15 minutes he refused to work on my car. Then my husband asked him why and he got in his face and almost started a fight with my husband. That's when the manager or other worker came out and told him to walk away. He offered us to come back the next morning and they would look at it again with their #1 technician. We came back first thing the next morning and we're immediately told by the same rude worker that they couldn't do anything else with the car and his manager told him not to touch it anymore. He referred us to go to another shop down the street which we went to right after and had zero problems. They get two stars for referring us to SpeeDees which were very polite and helpful. If they couldn't do anything, then how was SpeeDees able to? read more

I brought in the "Neighborhood Shopper" in hopes that they'll honor the offer as quoted in their ad: "We Accept ANY Competitor's coupon!" Apparently this is not true; I was told they only would match those in Manteca. I wanted to match a location in the vicinity that has an ad in the very same Neighborhood Shopper, but I guess they didn't consider that a competitor?? I was offered a price of $38 and no retesting unless I do their original $48. What the guy that helped me didn't know was that I also saw their coupon on their website for the same $38 but WITH retesting. He wasn't upfront about the offer and I had to show him the coupon off my phone. He then grumbled that they would be taking that off the site soon... Nonetheless I did decide to do my business with them anyhow since I was already there. I do appreciate what they are doing for the veterans, their patriotism, and fast service. read more

Nice people, great waiting room, fast service, and a coupon! I bought the coupon in advance and saved some dough. There were a few people ahead of me, and all were treated well by the staff. The owner is a proud Marine veteran if that matters to you. The business is located right next to a McDonalds and a Starbucks if you choose not to wait in the waiting area. A JOKE!!!!!! These 5 star reviews have got to be completely staged. First off, the customer service was a joke The young guy working the counter has absolutely no manners and knows NOTHING about smogging a vehicle. If for some ridiculous reason you decide to go get your vehicle smogged at this shop make sure your vehicle is good and hot no matter how new it is, because the smog technicians WILL test your vehicle when it is cold which will cause just about any vehicle to FAIL the emissions test. read more

I went with a coupon (they seem to be readily available) but had the extra fee because it was a huge Dodge 2500 with a Hemi. While I knew the fee was coming I had fun teasing Dillon about it and he took it in stride and even teased back. He has a great sense of humor and was fun to work with. I made an appointment ahead of time and that cut me in line right after they finished with the car in the bay when I arrived - can't get better than that. Technician was even pleasant to talk to. I was skeptical at first. Awesome service and great price and most of all free to the members of our Military (active or veteran) just show proof of service. Great military atmosphere with all the military memorabilia that abounds in the waiting area. Customers can bring related materials to enhance its military ambiance. I highly recommend this place. Went here one time to smog my grandpas Subaru Wagon, the guy helping us at the desk was super friendly and allowed my grandfather to talk his ear off, lol. the second time however I took in my Honda I bought to get a smog, and they claimed it was too low, it was a different guy helping me, he was a bit younger and he came off a little bit rude. That being said if you have a car that has a lowering kit on it, they will refused to smog it. At least an older car, not sure about newer ones, I believe the smog process is done different with newer cars, not 100 percent on that. Anyways, that's my reason for the 2 stars other than that, my first experience was all around 5 stars, it was very quick we were in and out. And like I mentioned the guy was very friendly. read more

Dropped of car to get a smog. Went home, looked at the site and found they had a coupon. I called to inquire about ti and they said word for word: "You have to show us that first, that's the only catch." To me, this is a horrible practice. If this is a consistent pricing online then why shouldn't it just be the price? I have to show you this first? It's on your website!, and when asked the guy knew exactly what is was. I hadn't paid yet and I still did not get the lower price. There are plenty of other smog sites in Manteca. This place will not get our money again. read more

I highly recommend this place!! Phillip was so extremely helpful and in fact saved me $3000...when my car failed the test, he went above and beyond by diagnosing the problem and guiding me how I could get it covered by warranty at the dealership. Even went so far as to tutor me into what to say to the dealer and how to say it! I fully trusted the service and he was super friendly! Then I got a retest free. My overall experience at smog tech of Manteca was great! I highly recommend this smog shop because the customer service is great! They treat you with respect and the overall environment is nice! They greet you right away as soon as you enter the shop. The smog technician, Philip, was very fast and accurate in his job tasks. do not listen to the bad reviews about this place. i have been using this same smog place for years, and my friends and family use them also. i am always in and out very quickly. best prices around, quick, easy, and honest. We also appreciate their proud display of patriotism. i never seen a business that promotes so many nonprofits as they do. Great place to drop off toys for tots, canned foods, and jackets for the less fortunate. best of all, if your vehicle does not pass smog, there are shops right in the same parking lot that are happy to take in smog tech customers for a quick repair or part.
