The wine selection is solid and cheese's have never let my girlfriend and I down. Service has always been friendly and the ambiance is wonderful - whether you end up sitting indoors or outside, you're bound to have a lovely experience and will be able to enjoy some excellent live music. We each got the Sommelier selection flight ($47 each) that came with 3 half glasses. They asked our preference for one of the glasses (white or red) and I loved the red. It was Rafanelli! It was my favorite. The flavors were complex with cool, unique hints and undertones. Great vibe. Great people. Great space. They also have pretty good food (we didn't have any but the people next to us loved it!)

However, all of us were too full for dessert and Hayes Valley's livelier venues didn't seem all that conducive for conversation, so our options felt limited. That is, until my buddy came across Ebb & Flow and was reminded of the good things he had heard about them. And I have to say...I don't disagree! Now, even though we ended up here more due to their proximity and convenience than anything else, Ebb & Flow is a pretty awesome wine bar...assuming you know where to find it. Given how they're located along a small alley street off of Gough, they aren't super visible, but I actually like how they're somewhat removed from most of Hayes Valley's hustle and bustle. Not only does it make them feel that much more relaxed, but it also makes them feel that a sort of a hidden secret! Inside, between how nice the decor looks, the mildly dim lighting, and their cozy vibe, this is such a great spot to grab a glass with friends, coworkers, or dates. What's more, despite their relatively small size and our lack of a reservation, our group of six was still able to walk in and snag a table (albeit at their tables outside). As for their offerings, I'm no wine connoisseur, but it's pretty awesome. Beyond just reds and whites, they also have a variety of orange/rose, sparkling, and desserts wines, including some that are organic, biodynamic and/or women owned, as well as an interesting selection of beers, sake, snack plates, cheeses plates, charcuterie boards, and tinned seafood! Since I didn't see my any cabernet sauvignons listed, I opted to go with a French pinot noir (Lucien Crochet La Croix du Roy, 2018), which was pretty solid. I appreciated how our server took the time to explain the notes and highlights on each of the different wines we ordered and came outside several times to check on us (nice not to be forgotten out there). One thing I will say, though, is that, perhaps in part because of the neighborhood, the prices here aren't the cheapest, as my single glass ended up costing ~$23 after the 18% surcharge they apply. That said, I didn't get the cheapest option they have and it's also quite possible that their wines are more on the premium side. Either way, with so many great benefits to offer, as well as how there are so many more restaurants to come back to Hayes Valley for, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before we'll all find ourselves back here again. And when I do, I'll make sure to try some of Ebb & Flow's cheese and charcuterie boards that I've seen so many of my fellow Yelpers speak so highly about! We opted to get 2 orders of croquetas and 2 orders of the bacon wrapped dates - each order comes with 2 of each, as well as a trio of churros which came with chocolate dipping sauce. While everything was good, nothing stood out or was super memorable, and we were definitely still pretty hungry afterward. We ordered one beet and chorizo flatbread, which was pretty disappointing since it was cold, and the flatbread felt like it could be storebought and put together at home - we actually didn't end up finishing it. The mushroom skewers were a bit more unique and we enjoyed the pickled minced veggie topping that it came with, and the mushrooms had a good texture. After adding on the flat bread and skewers to the $45 Happy Hour deal, our bill came out to about $120 for two, and we weren't too full - since the food didn't really standout I can't say that I'd recommend coming here.
